“Children, lovelies, listen here. Perhaps this hasn’t been your year…” Join Uncle Kramp for a night of wit & whimsy as you journey round the holiday season in this cautionary tale that will leave even the naughtiest of readers, scrambling to be on the nice list.
I had this book recommended to me from a friend who enjoys books about Krampus. This charming book hit the spot! Young readers observe Krampus as he begins his holiday rounds to find naughty children (and tell the nice ones to be a little meaner) because they will taste a little sweeter to him. A humorous and whimsical cautionary tale to remind girls and boys to stay off Krampus’s list. The illustrations are charming with many details that are fun to explore. Recommended for young readers between the ages of 6 and 12. Destined to become a new holiday classic.
Fantastic illustrations to go along with this informative, fun, eerie, cautionary tale about Krampus. The rhyming nature is pleasant and some Old World iconography can be seen included with Krampus. Not for kids that get easily scared. Recommended for adventurous kids and adults.
Very enjoyable illustrations and a rhyming text that actually works when read out loud. I really liked this children's Krampus book. Krampus encourages the children to be naughty, because they taste better that way!
I came across this as I searched for holiday stories for a Zoom story time this December. It’s a cool little picture book that more accurately reflects the myth of Krampus (as I understand it) than some others.
That said, choose your audience with care. Don’t let the fact that it’s a short picture book fool you - it includes references to “chains and ropes” and “bleeding gums.” Seriously creepy. Especially it you’re a child, eligible to be snatched and eaten by Krampus.
This one is probably best for kids 6 or 7 and up. (My test audience, my own 6 year old, didn’t have nightmares or anything, but also vetoed it as too scary for the other kids.)
T is nice to see Krampus in a more original form. Though far more child friendly. He sticks to the fact that he loves to eat children and isn’t trying to change his ways which I loved. The formatting was as little off making the pictures not line up with the words yet at the same time the story was fun!
Krampus: A Holiday Message is a short and wickedly cute children's book of verse warning of Ole Krampus. So jolly is its own dark way ... maybe a bit much for younger children but for adults a real hoot. Liked the illustrations.
We don’t often see the traditional “villains” of the Yuletide season here in the West. This was a great, tongue-in-cheek, devil on your shoulder holiday tale!
