A Decent read...

***Spoiler Alert***

The heroine was heartbroken. She just ended a relationship and she wanted to forget everything and enjoy the night. She goes to a Mardi Grass party and had a laundry room sex with the hero. They used protection but you know what happens... Both of them were wearing a mask and they didn't exchange numbers. But in their drunken state, they go to a tattoo parlor and had a tattoo with two halves, one-half was in the heroine's body and the other half was in hero's body, by connecting both of the halves will create a heart. The tattoos were supposed to bring them together. The hero called the heroine his butterfly during that night. And after that night he searched for his butterfly but could not find her.

Fast forward four months,
The heroine is pregnant. She is given a project by the company she was working and that project was auditing the heroes company. The hero is very much in tension cause an auditor is coming and there was a huge amount of blunder caused by hero's younger brother and he had to do something about it otherwise he will lose a big contract.

The heroine (auditor) came to the office and immediately know that the CEO (hero) of this company is the father of her child because she saw the tattoo.

Now the heroine is afraid if anyone knows about her pregnancy and the CEO's connection with it, she will be criticized by her boss. Cause her boss already thought that she was not good enough for the job. So she wants to do her job perfectly and decide that after submitting the audit report she will tell the hero about the baby.

On the other hand, the hero decided that he will flirt and seduce the auditor enough to distract her not to notice the blunder.

Then the game starts. They were both attracted to each other and heroine is resisting the hero for the obvious reason- her job. But one evening when the heroine in the office gym wearing her gym cloth make it visible that she is pregnant and obviously the tattoo make it clear to the hero who is she.

Then the hero vow to make her confused him about the truth. And he managed to pursue the heroine for a private dinner date. On the date night, he asked her about why she didn't tell him about her when she recognized him and also about the baby. After that, they talked and resolve the matter for time being. They end up together at the hero's place. But still, the hero is kinda worried about the audit report and also the fact that he purposely wanted to distract the heroine but now he wanted to give this relationship a chance truly. The fact that the hero is not talking or blackmailing about marriage in HPlandia is quite surprising. The heroine also doesn't want to marry him just because she is pregnant. If somehow their relationship work and they fall in love in future then they can settle for marriage otherwise no.

After that, the heroine is able to find out the company's financial blunder and asked the hero about it. The hero wants to resolve the matter privately but the heroine told him that she will not lose her integrity and the hero agreed. Cause at the end, what is she telling is right.

Before submitting the report the heroine also talks to her coworker about the report and asked for advice. After that heroine submitted her audit report but still, her boss fired her (the heroine's co-worker told the boss about the phone talk between them) because she lost her reasoning because of some romantic involvement.

The heroine asked the hero is it really was his intention to distract her from the work to hide the blunder. The hero said it was but his feeling toward her has changed and it was no longer his intention anymore and they had a big fight. The heroine throws the hero out of her house.

For doing everything right the hero got her job back and also somehow managed to save his deal with a little bit interfering of his younger brother. The heroine realizes that he doesn't want to work in a company where the boss really doesn't value her so she interviewed for the hero's company job. In the interview session with the hero, they confused their feeling and got engaged. The End.

With lots of drama and everything, I really didn't feel the great HPlandia love here but it was ok. The plot and its twist were good. The plot wasn't something new but it was good to compare other HP's blackmailing, typical plot.

Safety Issue: The hero was man-whore sure and there was no confirmation about his celibacy during the separation time. One or two times author did mention that he went to dinner with other women(s) and he was comparing other women with the heroine every time. The heroine wasn't a virgin. She was previously in a relationship. I have to mention there were no slut-shaming and disrespecting towards the heroine by the hero. There was no talking about marriage or taking charge of anything by the hero just because she is pregnant. They both wanted best for each other and for the baby also. So, this fact will surely make a big difference in my rating.

I have joined Manali Dey, a friend on Bookstagram, for the #MillsandBoonReadathon for which we are reading 18 books, coz it's '18! This is Book 8.

I have read and loved Andrea Laurence's The CEO's Unexpected Child before this. This is my second read by her. This is Book Four of Little Secrets Series. Neither had I read the previous book's series serially nor this one's. Yeeesh!

Twenty-seven-year-old Emma Dempsey finds herself at a Mardi Gras party in Tribeca, a party of her best friend Harper's employer, Jonah Flynn. Recently broken up with her boyfriend, who termed her boring, she's bored at the party as well. When Batman starts to accost her, she has to accept the help of Mr Venetian Mask to drive away from the creep. She decides to give in to her impulse and does body shots of tequila with the stranger. Hot hot hot, hot prologue!

The book starts three months later, in Jonah Flynn's office. He runs his privately owned gaming company, FlynnSoft. He has two brothers, one of whom took off with three million dollars of company money. FlynnSoft is on the verge of a new deal, and with an auditor coming in... This is so a story of here and now.

A night of unforgettable sex, with an unknown partner, the only means of identification their matching tattoos. As soon as Emma the forensic auditor lays eyes on Jonah the gamer's tattoo, she's beyond flustered. You see, he still doesn't know who she is, coz her tattoo is, well, ahem... at a discreet place. And she's out of her mind, thinking of her pregnancy. She couldn't find her secret hero with the help of her best friend and hasn't divulged her news to even her parents, coz they expect her to be prim and proper after what happened to her older sister.

Intent on seducing Emma to keep her eyes away from his brothers' doings, Jonah finds himself getting frustrated since she has a no-nonsense attitude. And then start the office shenanigans.

I loved how the author set up Jonah's office, so modern and millennial. I wish I could work in such an office! Jonah and Emma's jibes and snipes were funny, their camaraderie adorable. Both of them hailed from wealthy families but worked on their own steam. Instead of the usual anger and recriminations that usually follows, their acceptance of each other's situation was a breath of fresh air.

Except for her parents', George and Pauline Dempsey, names; nothing was made evident as to why she was so afraid of/for them.

The ending was so cute, a perfect ending to a quintessential office romance. It was funny as well. It could have been better with an epilogue, though.

After combing through Andrea Laurence's books, I found out the following:
The deceased sister of Emma, Cynthia Dempsey, is actually alive in her own amnesiac story, What Lies Beneath, Book 1 of Millionaires of Manhattan.
Also, the situation described with Noah Flynn and Reagan Hardy, his ........ I'm wondering whether they have a book or will have a book. And what about Elijah Flynn, the middle or the youngest Flynn brother, is he anywhere in the picture?
And her friends seem to have a life of their own too...Lucy, Violet, and especially Harper.

My review of:
His Unexpected Heir (Book One)
Claiming His Pregnant Bride (Book Two)

P.S. The cover is what drew me to this book in the first place. It is so adorable.

An enjoyable book! This is a love story between Jonah Flynn, gorgeous CEO, and man-whore extraordinaire and Emma Dempsey an accountant that will soon be auditing Jonah's business.

I'll just get this out of the way. The hero is a huge man-whore (I certainly don't like or enjoy that aspect) who has a model or actress on his arm everywhere he goes. His playboy ways are splashed all over the rag mags and newspapers...frequently.

Jonah is holding a Mardi Gras party at his home. Emma has been really hurt by her boyfriend and her friends encourage her to cut loose a little. With the aid of tequila Emma finds a man that intrigues her at the Mardi Gras party her friends dragged her too and he finds he is drawn to her, as well. She has no idea that this is the man she will be auditing. They end up having a laundry-room seduction but unfortunately they don't exchange personal contact information and he is going crazy trying to find her. That night they left the party to go to the tattoo parlor to get inked. It's a tattoo with two halves. Half is on the hero and the other half on the heroine but when they are lined up it creates a single heart. He calls her his butterfly...looks for her everywhere with no success.

Emma has been searching for him, as well, because there is some unfinished business they need to discuss due to the contraceptive failing during their night together three months ago.

It is when she shakes hands with the CEO of the company she is set to audit, she immediately notices his tattoo...THE tattoo. Her job is on the line now because there is absolutely no fraternizing with clients and when her pregnancy begins to show and the world finds out who the father is she will be fired even though she was wth Jonah before her company sent her on that job and she disclosed that info. She won't tell him about the baby until her job is finished but he finds out as he caught a glimpse of the tattoo on her chest and the enlarging of her belly when she went to workout in the company gym after she was sure he was gone...but he came back.

I marked this down one-star because I am not fond of reading about manwhores and all the women they bed. I find it unsettling.

I would recommend this book.

Secrets!

Emma is getting over a break up and lets her best friend talk her into going to a Mardi Gras party complete with masks. Jonah rescues her from the unwanted attention of another party-host. Jonah and tequila bring out a side of Emma she's kept hidden so as not to disappoint her parents. One drink leads to two and before they know it they've had sex in a laundry room and gotten tattoos! Three months later a pregnant Emma is sent to do an audit of Jonah's business prior to his company landing a huge contract. But Jonah, who is unaware of who Emma really is sets out to distract her from finding his brother has 'borrowed' a large sum of money from the business without telling Jonah. Emma knows who Jonah is though because she sees his half of their matching tattoos. She tries desperately to ignore her attraction to Jonah and tries to keep him from finding out who she is until her audit is done. A battle of wills ensures and all their secrets are eventually revealed before either one wants them to be.

Strong characters who both have to do a little self-reflecting and soul searching before they can finally get it right. Another great book from Andrea Laurence!

This was a really interesting read. Both Jonah and Emma Dempsey are quite reasonable people. They meet at a masquerade and Emma lets loose and behaves quite differently to her usual buttoned up self. She is the younger sister of the "technical" OW in the first Millionaire's in Manhattan book "What Lies Beneath." Those events make her very cautious and career focused.

There are none of the TSTL versus the alphajerk in this story. Sure they have their quirks, but when it comes down to it, they are able to talk and communicate.

Jonah is one of those billionaires who is a bit adventurous and cares about the work environment and his staff. Not at first an obvious match for Emma who is an auditor, coming into the company to check it out on behalf of another company looking to do business with Jonah.

Only trouble is that Jonah has something to hide, thanks to his brother.

I really enjoyed how different this book was to the usual unexpected pregnancy trope. No-one was coming over all heavy handed or threatening and Emma didn't buckle under when pushed (gently).

Overall a nice read and memorable for those reasons.

This was an interesting read. The heroine is the sister of the heroes ex in What Lies Beneath. She is a bit...a lot...repressed because of that history.
The hero Jonah reminds me a little of George in 27 Dresses. He is running a business that is all super duper modern with great conditions for workers and is probably environmentally sound.
These two meet at a masked ball and Emma is letting go her inhibitions. They even get matching tattoos before parting forever.
Weeks later Emma turns up to audit Jonah’s business and he is intrigued immediately. He also has a business anomaly to hide courtesy of his wayward young brother. Life is about to get complicated.
I really enjoyed this story. Both protagonists were grown up and while they did do stupid things it wasn’t a chronic condition.
The ending was satisfactory.

A real feel good book. One of the best stories I have read in a long while.

The author’s foreword - led me to read the book of Cynthia Dempsey before I read this book.

“Back in 2012, when my very first Harlequin Desire was published, I knew that I would write this story. Not this exact story per se, but Emma’s story. The bubbly teenage sister of Cynthia Dempsey was destined to have her own book one day and now that day has arrived!”

What Lies Beneath

While that book was a nice angsty story, I was disappointed that, Emma made only a couple of fleeting appearances.
Similarly in that respect I was disappointed that the MC’s of that book didn’t make an appearance in this book. Of course, when the heroine’s parents themselves merited only a mention a couple of times, how could I have expected other characters to make an appearance?

One of the good parts about the book was the really nice advice given by the brother Noah to the Hero.

“Unless, of course, you’re ready to make your big move.”
Jonah’s brows went up. “My big move?”
Noah held up his left hand and waggled his ring finger. “Give her everything she could possibly want from you in a two-pronged approach—restore her job and her reputation at work, and then restore her personal reputation and faith in you by declaring your love for her and asking for her hand in marriage. If she’s that concerned about what people think of her at work, how does she feel about the fact that she’s having your baby out of wedlock?”
“I already asked her to marry me. She said no.”
“Well, ask again. And not because of the baby, but because you love her and you want to spend the rest of your life with her.”

Another good part is the interview scene at the end. Such a feel good scene.

One plus one equals ... three?? She's keeping secrets ... and when he exposes them, the fireworks will be electrifying! A fun connection between the characters has us pulling for a happy ending with these mismatched lovers! The plot is fast paced and delivers that happily ever after before we know it.

Accountant Emma Dempsey never expected the one night she decided to let her hair down and go wild at a masked Mardi Gra celebration to come back to haunt her ... but here she is, pregnant ... with not even a name to help her track down the mystery daddy! Then one day she shows up for her next temp assignment of auditing the books for a perspective deal, and there it is ... the tattoo ... it's him!

Millionaire Jonah Flynn has spent his life working hard to achieve all of his dreams, and getting everything that he wants ... so the fact that he can't find his mystery woman from a few months ago is driving him crazy! He knew when he first touched her that the connection was strong ... and the matching tattoos were meant to lead her back to him ... and it does! Only it's the auditor that can currently make or break an important deal for his company!

This was a fun read with an interesting first meeting between the H and h. I really liked these two, together and as individuals. It kept me interested from the first page to the last. It is the first book in A L's Millionaires of Manhattan Sorority Sister miniseries.
The h Emma is the sister of the deceased character Cynthia Dempsey in What Lies Beneath and now she has gotten her book. The story starts off in a Masked Mardi Gras party. The h and H meet in a kitchen do body shots after the H rescued her and spend a wild night together that cumulates with both of them getting tattooed with a half of a broken heart with the promise that if they find each other again they were meant to be.
Three months later the h is hired to audit the H's company and sparks fly, secrets are revealed and love is discovered.

WOW! I'll never think about Tequila shots without remembering the opening of Little Secrets:Secretly Pregnant Andrea Laurence, it was HOT. Emma Dempsey(an accountant) and Jonah Flynn(CEO of his own company) meet at a Mardi Gras party wearing masks and that is what starts it all. Letting lose, drinking shots, an sexual encounter in a closet and matching tattoos. Three months later Emma is now pregnant and sent to audit Jonah's company, Jonah is drawn to Emma from the start and there is attraction on both sides, not knowing that each other was the person in the mask at the Mardi Gras party! I encourage you to read the rest of the story to find out what happens next, you will not be disappointed. Great story

Author Andrea Laurence melted my heart with Little Secrets: Secretly Pregnant!
I couldn't stop reading this one long enough to even stop to eat or go to the bathroom , it had captivated my attention as quickly as it started melting my heart with both Emma and her insecurities and Jonah and his insistence on getting interlocking tattoos with her from day one. That kind of connection between characters transcends the pages directly to this readers heart.
I couldn't wait to see what would happen next and if and when they would end up together. And in the end what woman wouldn't want a man as in touch with his inner self and feelings as Jonah.... a definite must read for romance readers and fans of Andrea Laurence!

Little Secrets: Secretly Pregnant is such a fun read by Andrea Laurence. Emma Dempsey and Jonah Flynn meet by chance at a masquerade party. One thing leads to another…Jonah is haunted by her—looking for her everywhere while Emma has another reason she needs to find him. Each has a reminder of the night they spent together. Can Emma come to terms with who Jonah is and can they find their happily ever after? Little Secrets: Secretly Pregnant is a quick read that I gobbled up in one sitting. I received an advanced copy that I voluntarily read. This is my true and honest opinion.

Little Secrets: Secretly Pregnant by Andrea Laurence propels you on to a rollercoaster. It's fast-paced, sexy and the sizzle between Emma Dempsey and Jonah Flynn is hotter than hot! The plot is engaging, the writing is vibrant and the characters just keep the angst, drama and sexy times going with their shenanigans. The author has craftily wielded her pen to create magic on the page. I'm sure fans old and new will be clamoring to get their hands on a copy. I closed the book one satisfied reader.

It was easy to read and enjoy Andrea Laurence's Harlequin Desire book, Secretly Pregnant, in one sitting. The 217 pages just fly by. In this Little Secrets story, wearing masks at a Mardi Gras party leads to letting go of inhibitions and having a one night stand. Getting matching tattoos is the only way Emma and Jonah will be able to recognize each other in the future. Of course they do see each other again and their situation is further complicated by a surprise pregnancy. I enjoyed this book and the characters were easy to imagine!

Secretly Pregnant by Andrea Laurence
Emma and Jonah meet at a party. after party is over they do not know each others names.
Emma is very surprised when she sees Jonah again.
She has a secret that she doesn't want to share until after her job is over.
He flirts with her throughout the whole book. I really liked the way the chemistry between the two was written. I really enjoyed this book.
I recommend this book for a person looking for a good book to read.

A great story

I truly enjoyed this story. A hero stopped to help a damsel in distress, it leads to unexpected blessings. Emma Dempsey didn't know if she would ever find the father of her unborn child again. Fate steps in and lands her at the feet of Jonah Flynn. Will they discover the truth about each other? Can they find love in each other? Read and find out.

Loved the premise but the writing style did not engage me, nor did the hero and heroine's relationship development. I just couldn't quite buy into the premise. I also felt like the reveal of the pregnancy came a bit too late and I know the title highlights that it's meant to be a secret, but it just didn't work for me. In the end, this was a DNF for me.
