Andrea Curtin seems to have it all; good looks, money and a loving husband. But her marriage is in tatters after a terrible tragedy and she is doing her best to forget the person she was and the things she lost. Her husband Chris is certain that Andrea needs intimacy to be whole again, but his own demons leave him unable to help. So Chris hatches an audacious plan; if he can't give her what she needs, maybe another man can. Veteran male escort Frederico Lowe proves irresistible and in his arms Andrea slowly rediscovers something she thought she had lost. But Frederico isn't being completely honest with her; he has his own dark designs and is willing to go to terrible lengths to realise them. As Andrea is pulled deeper into a sensual world of mutual obsession, she will soon learn that some secrets hit all too close to home. If you're a reader with an open mind, who likes steamy reads with gripping storylines, you will love this taboo-defying standalone novel from author A Kelly.
A. Kelly writes romance with a touch of danger and suspense. She crafts stories with unexpected twists, and she doesn't shy away from tough subjects.
Also an avid wildlife photographer (especially bears!), Kelly has travelled the seven continents and met people from different walks of life where she draws inspirations from.
She's a sucker for stationery and fluffy things, and would die without tea. When needing something strong, Kelly usually turns to dry Chardonnay or Aperol spritz.
Blurb: Andrea Curtin pays men for pleasure – with her husband’s blessing. Frederico Lowe, a seasoned escort, gives her more than a night to remember.
Andrea Curtin is trapped in a sexless marriage after she and her husband Chris lost their sons in tragic circumstances. Desperate to make his wife happy again, Chris proposes she sleep with another man.
Frederico Lowe knows sex. He has survived the worst of being a male escort but nothing prepares him for an encounter with a client who calls herself ‘Andie’. She was once his obsession, and this time he doesn’t think twice about making her his.
This is an emotionally intense book that will leave you reeling. These characters make questionable decisions throughout the book but the author has managed to do it tastefully and in a way that makes it not so questionable.
Andie and Chris are in an awful time of their lives after losing their son and Chris is beginning to wonder if she will ever come out of it. He has tried everything that he knows and now is debating on trying something new.
Frederico enters the picture at the request of Chris but once he meets Andie, he knows that nothing will ever be the same.
This story then becomes a tangled web of confusing emotions and even more heartache. But will all the characters get their HEA??
An Emotional Roller Coaster Wow, what an emotional story that is painful at times. A couple dealing with the grief of losing their sons in a tragic way will break your heart. As they cope with their sexless marriage her husband brings in another man to satisfy her. Plenty of twists, lots of surprises and the past reappear. A gripping story that will keep you page turning. good story. I wouldn't have chosen it though had I known it was under Gay and Lesbian. Not my reading. But the story line and the characters were good. I was given a review copy by reading deals and voluntarily review it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This one was just not for me, too much explicit sex that felt like pornography. A storyline that was weak at best. Yuck.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I had a hard time sticking with the story. The back and forth, the blaming, and non-understanding of the other persons feelings was hard to read. I have enjoyed other books by A. Kelly, but not this one so much.
Sex, lies, and no regrets. Review of When I'm in your arms.
First of all the other reviewers are right this is so not a romance. Lol. Instead, It is a tough, slow ride. Andie is heartbroken. She and her husband Chris have miscarried twice and her husband does not want to try a fourth time. Instead, he suggests Andie take a lover b/c he can not think of any other way to help her. Enter Fredrico. Fredrico is tormented by his own demons and beds Andie. Fredrico has done very bad things in his past and to forget. He thinks he can forget with Andie who falls hard for him despite his past. Honestly, I chose this book, think it was a romance but it was so much more. It was more of a morality play. It reminded me of GONE GIRL in the sense of nobody’s the good guy. All the characters are flawed. I liked that. I liked the fact that Andie was strong and persevered when anything and everything was thrown at her. My only complaint is the slow start of the book. Like another reviewer said you have to reach past 33% or so to finally get to the meat of the story. Lol. Well, at least it is worth the ride. I received a complimentary ARC copy from HIDDEN GEMS and the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was very difficult to rate. It started off very slow, and not that good. About 35 pages in I was checking to see if I was almost done yet. The book did get better, and had a kind of HEA, but not one I particularly liked. I did like that this book was different than any story I have read before. I only saw about half of the twists coming. It was interesting enough overall, but boring as I was reading at times. I also didn't really like any of the characters. I couldn't really root for any of them with the lying and cheating and manipulating. I feel like Andie forgave Fredrico way too much. She got upset with him a ton, and then at the end stated that he had never made her sad? Plus, the beginning of the book went from the year 2003 and then skipped to 2015 and then 2016. It was understood that Andie and her husband Chris did not have sex at all... in 12 years! I'm pretty sure that relationship would have ended long before it did. But, now that I'm done reading I have to say that it was interesting, worth the read, but not exactly an enjoyable read. Like I said, this book it difficult for me to rate. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Hmmmm I didn’t quite know what to think of this one. It was really confusing at the beginning, I didn’t know which perspective I was reading from and there were a lot of names and situations happening all at once. I did feel like it took quite a long time to adjust to Andrea... I usually connect with the heroine easily but I did struggle with her in this, I found her quite tedious at times, she appeared to be very arrogant at the start too. I really did like Lucio/Frederico a lot more. It’s a very back and forth thing and takes quite a while to get into it. I’m not a patient reader so I didn’t enjoy that aspect very much. The story itself is written well I just don’t think it was personally for me which is why my rating isn’t higher as I struggled to connect, it didn’t grip me and make me want to not put it down. Again nothing personal against the book just my preferences are different. I read this book as an ARC for an honest review.
NOT YOUR USUAL HAPPILY EVER AFTER I really enjoyed this book although it isn't the usual romances I normally read. I was drawn to the original concept of a married woman falling for her temporary and paid lover with the permission of her husband who no longer finds her desirable. The writer did a great job of tackling some heavy subjects - death of a child, drug use, prostitution, infidelity, secrets...it was well-written and held my interest throughout. There were many twists and turns and an unexpected tangled web of a love triangle that surprised me. Without revealing too much, I think some people would find some aspects of this story confronting.

Wow. You have to prepare yourself for the emotional roller coaster this book will take you on. You will read from two POVs. At the beginning the book jumps from different times but I was able to follow along well enough. Plus the author did a great job with character development. It's not really erotica, there are intimacy scenes but they are quickly described and thankfully each scene served a purpose. So again, the author didn't write intimate scenes just to write them. They were part of what made the characters and the story. Definitely not a feel good book but it was interesting and a heartbreaking story. I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it.
This was a one of a kind book for me. Don’t know yet if it was a good or not so much feeling. But certainly it made me feel a lot. The beginning was a little slow but necessary to build the world. The next part was really interesting. But the next just blown my mind. I was all over the place. I was screaming and swearing and more. Love so much that I just didn’t know how to stop reading. But the final was a little disappointing. I suppose I was expecting a little more drama? Don’t know. Really was a peaceful final. One the characters really deserved.
Love is not neat. It is messy and complex, and there are no rules. This story is sad, heartbreakingly sad. It makes your guts roil, and you want to cry. But the connection between Frederico and Andie makes you want to believe in happy endings and forever. Well done to this author.
When I started this book, I almost stopped reading because the story was choppy and it didn't flow well. However, I did keep reading and ended up enjoying it. The storyline of a girl falling for a twink intrigued me, add to it that he's also an escort, I was even more curious.
Fredrico & Andrea have an interesting story. Not that I necessarily agree with it. But a good read all in all. I received a free arc copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
