Encroachment by Monica DeSimone a soul invading five-star read. This is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy, and what a second book, we met the main characters in this story in the first book Second Chance, Claire Amelia McEvoy is the big sister and fellow ladybug to Zoey who was the main character in Second Chance. Claire is calm and reserved and had a very mature head on her shoulders, and has had to grow up quickly becoming a mother at 16 years old, as well as being a surrogate mother to Zoey and her bestie Suzie, she’s an all-round mother hen. She has lived the last twenty something years for other people, after one event when she was 15 years old rocked her to the core and left her pregnant and alone. If anyone needs a shoulder to cry on or a helping hand Claire will be there, but sometimes when she needs a shoulder the most she has to rely on her own there as well, as she is the strong one.
Jackson is a man who has tried for many years to help Claire, he has written her letters, sent her money to help with her Daughter Sasha, he feels responsible for what happened to her all those years ago, and has in some ways loved her for even longer, he loves her more than he loves the horses that he grew up with. Jackson has always settled for friendship, knowing that may be all she is capable of giving him, he has never given up on her and finally thinks he may have gotten the time right now. Jack may just have to persuade Claire that he’s doing the right thing and make sure she makes the right decision on the end, even if he has to get a flag for encroachment for going too far.
This has been a great series so far, I have enjoyed watching as the story falls naturally, giving way to what is coming next and revealing little by little. Keeping you hooked and never letting you off the hook. I can’t wait for Off Side the third instalment of the Trilogy, where we finally find out what makes Sasha tick, and what rules she has been breaking.

Encroachment is an amazing follow up! I love this book! The lesson that this book gave me is that even if years pass by you shouldn't give up on the one you love and care about. Claire is a very strong woman but also very stubborn, luckily she has Jackson to help her break down some walls. Monica you are amazing! I love this book!

Encroachment is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy by Monica DeSimone. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, because I really loved the first one, a lot- but I needn’t have worried. This book is just as good as the first.
We met Claire McEvoy in the first book, as she is Zoey’s older sister. They work together at Coach’s Shadow, the foundation that Zoey began in memory of her beloved father. Although Claire was never as close to their father as Zoey was, because Claire feels like her parents turned away from her at a time in her life when she needed their love, guidance and support the most. She went through a quite traumatic event that has since shaped the person she has become and set her on the path that her life has taken. Claire is the level headed, controlled, quiet and demure sister. She’s the nurturer, always taking care of others and putting their well-being ahead of her own. She and Zoey are very close, even though Zoey can drive her crazy at times.
Jackson Alexander (Jack) is aware of what Claire has been through, as he and Claire were the best of friend’s, many years ago. Circumstances took Jack away at a time when Claire really needed him. He knows Claire has built heavy barriers around her heart, in an effort to never to be hurt again. But he has loved her for so long now, he can no longer remember a time where he didn’t love her. He has never pushed for more than friendship, as he knows that it could be all Claire is able to offer. He’s back now and determined to prove that he is what she needs in her life. He wants to help her, care for her, love her and protect her. But what happens when her past comes back and threatens their happiness?
I was so engrossed in this story that I devoured it in one sitting. Ms. DeSimone has really out-done herself with this superb second instalment of her incredibly good series. I really can’t wait to get my hands on the third book.
A really great read!

Thank you Ms. DeSimone!

Claire McEvoy’s life hasn’t been the easiest. From early on she has constructed walls, barriers and obstacles to protect herself from trusting, loving of even feeling safe around others, all of this is down to a devastating act of violent from her first attempt at love that has now caused her to no longer look at life and certain others in a different way. Her way of coping was to be strong for others, and devote her entire life to taking care of others and making sure they were happy and loved enough.

Jackson Alexander has always loved Claire since he laid eyes on her at fifteen. But he never forced her to have anything more and just excepted the friendship that she offered him, even after he was there to witness the aftermath of the traumatic event that occurred with Claire. But now Twenty-Three years have pasted and Jackson has come back ready to fight for the chance with her he has always desired.
With Claire still struggling to allow him into her life and heart, he never gives up the fight, he will not allow her to push him away again this time. Claire will ultimately be his.

Encroachment is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy from author Monica DeSimone. It can either be read as a standalone or as part of the series, as previous characters stories continue and really helps you get a better understanding for all the characters. This is my second book from this author, and I cannot wait to see what other great stories I can read from this author and what else she can bring to this series!

This book had it all from romance, to friendship, passion, heartache but most importantly love. It has you laughing, smiling, feeling frustrated that the characters couldn’t quit fighting they undeniable connection. Once again, I sat a read this book not wanting to put it down afraid of something I may miss. The emotions and feelings that are brought through the pages and words of this book is what I think make this book amazing!

This is an epic second chance romance from two friends that always knew that they should have been together from the start. We could feel the pain, heartbreak, anger that Claire feels when she is unable to break down her walls to let Jackson in but with that Jackson had the greatest thing when it came to Claire and that was patience. He knew of everything she had gone through and never pushed her. He may at times get frustrated but that was only because Claire would push him away for reasons she didn’t even know. But through it all you could tell that these two had a love that was built of friendship and trust that was just perfect for helping Claire battle her demons. This author’s writing really entrances you enough to actually believe you are living this out yourself, with excellent and captivating story lines to epic characters throughout.

Another great thing with this book is that it was written in dual POV’s. I love reading it from the characters POV’s as we get to really see their thoughts and feeling from them rather than the other person. I also think it helps connect with a character as you get to understand some of their reasons of their actions!

Along with our two main characters there are many secondary characters that stand out in this book and make you wonder what their story is, I’m especially intrigued to find out Sasha story, especially since her story within this story of her becoming more distant within the family.

Throughout Book 1 and 2, Claire has been the one constant in Zoey’s life and her daughter Sasha. In this book, you really get to see how much of an impact Claire makes to all the characters’ lives such as Derrick, Ben & Susie. She is strong, confident, selfless, loving and truly a mother figure to all. But under it all, with secrets being revealed Claire hides a secret they would break most people and along with that she has built walls around herself that no one will ever break. She doesn’t trust, she doesn’t let loved ones in, she hides everything behind a shield to protect those that she loves. Until Jackson. Jackson comes barrelling back into her life after twenty-three years apart and gets Claire questioning all she has built. With a single touch, he makes her fear disappear and makes her want to know what it’s like to feel real love. I loved watching Claire break down her wall for Jackson as he is exactly what she needs! He challengers her yet doesn’t push her. He fights for her when she can no longer fight. He protects her and her girls just for the sake of love, and it’s beautiful to see!

Jackson always believed that his chance with Claire ended the night the dreadful incident happens! But unbeknown to him Twenty-Three years later he would get his chance at the exact time Claire would need him most. Jackson is caring, considerate, loyal and doesn’t give up a fight easily. He is exactly what Claire needs to break down her walls and help her finally start living her life and breathe. Another thing about Jackson is he never rushed Claire, always took it at her pace. The sexy scenes were passionate, and healing to each other as it really connected them together on another level that neither of them realise they could have in their relationship. Their relationship wasn’t rushed and was just so real and raw!
I love how Jackson is also so loving towards Sasha & Zoey as though they were his own, and how quickly and easily he fits into this group of amazing characters in these books.

I’m so glad that these two characters get a HEA, and hopefully their story continues in Book 3. But this book has had me captivating from the start, and I’m sad that it’s over.
With lots of questions of mine that I still need answered I hope they get answered in Book 3.

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone is a second chance romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Holly Holt.

This is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy. I can’t wait for the third and final book to be released. Each book in the series is centered on a different couple but I would still recommend reading them in order.

I cannot wait to discover more books by Monica in the future.

Holly did a great job on the narration. There were a few spots throughout the story that she repeated a sentence or phrase but not enough to distract from the story.

This is the second book of the Coach’s Shadows Trilogy. I loved this story just as much if not a little more than the first book. This book could be read as a stand alone but there are past characters that come back in this story as well. You will get a better understanding if you read this first book Second Half. This story is also very addicting just like the first one. It only took me a little over a day to finish this book. I kept on turning the pages to see what would happen with these incredible characters.

Clair McEvoy thought she was in love but that relationship ended in a disaster. She is now a grown woman that has always put her daughter and sister first. She lives to make them happy. She is very guarded when it comes to her heart. She doesn't want any a man in her life. All they do is ruin everything and she can not have that happen to her again. Clair helped raise her sister when she was only a teen herself. Clair is Zoey’s older sister and they are the total opposites. Clair is know as the ice queen to the football team she works for. Clair will do anything to see her girls happy. She even sacrifices her own happiness at times for them. Clair is very content with her life as a single mother. When she finds out that the man she has known since she was a teen is back she gets scared. Clair has been friends with Jackson for along time but now she realizes that he wants more. Clair is afraid to face her past in order to move on. She also has a secret that could change everything that she has ever known. Will Clair ever face her past and move on to her future or will her past forever haunt her? Will Clair let her guard down for Jackson or will she keep her heart guarded?

Jackson Alexander has been in love with Clair since she was fifteen. He has always wanted her to be his but all she could give him was her friendship. Jackson is now back where it all started. He knows what happened to Clair all those years ago and he still wished he could make it right. He has always been the friend to her but now he wants to see how far their relationship can go. Jackson takes things slowly so she can get comfortable with him. He does not want to scare her away. He earns her trust and he is very patient and loving to her. Just when he feels like they are taking the next step the past shows up and turns things upside down. Clair starts to shut down again. He tells her he would never let anything happen to her or the girls but Clair still pushes him away. He finds out what is going on and he is right there to protect what is his. Will Jackson be able to protect Clair’s heart or will it be too late? How far will Jackson go to protect the woman that he loves?

This book had me up in the middle of the night. I could not put this book down. I love how the past characters come back in this story as well. I love reading how the other characters are doing now. This author keeps surprising me. The ending had me shocked with my mouth open in surprise. I love that this story is in dual point of view. I love reading about both of the characters stories. This makes me get to know the characters on a deeper level. You will fall in love with these characters the second you meet them. Clair is sweet and loving to all of my family and close friends. She had a hard past but it makes her brave in the end. Clair is the type of friend that will give you her shirt off of her back if you needed it. Jackson is the perfect match for Clair. He too has a sweet side. He loves his friends just like family. Clair and Jackson has some serious struggles in this book but each struggle makes them get closer. You can feel the chemistry between these two immediately. There are some pretty steamy scenes that will make you fan your self to cool down. I can not wait to see what this author has in store for us next.

Encroachment (Coach's Shadow Trilogy Book 2) by Monica DeSimone is the second story in the Coach's Shadow Trilogy. This book can be read as a stand alone but reading the first book would give some background information on some of the characters that appear in this story too. This story is a sports romance story that will take you on a journey of various emotions. One of my favorite things about a series is when an author shows you what happens to characters from previous books. This author has done just that in this book and if you read the first one, you will enjoy what you find in here. You will enjoy how the author has created a story that will pull you in from the first word. You will enjoy how these characters connect and how you will be able to relate to them. I enjoy when the author creates characters that make you feel what they feel and you will find that here also. Find out if best friends can reconnect and become more to each other.

Claire McEvoy has not had it easy when it comes to relationships. Her last attempt left her shattered by violence has made her build up walls against letting anyone in including her family. She has learned to cope by devoting her life to everyone else needs and happiness. What will happen when he comes back into her life? They were best friends twenty-three years ago but then he just disappeared. Now that he is back, he wants more but is she receptive to that? Will she push him away as she has done everyone else in her life? Will she learn to heal and give him a chance?

Jackson Alexander has loved her since he has been fifteen years old. He is well aware of her past and what had happened to her. He has always been happy with the friendship she offered him but now will he get his chance? Will he be deterred by her walls she built? He is determined that she is not going to push him away. Will he be able to break her walls down and get her to trust him? Will he win her?

Claire and Jackson's relationship has always been one of friendship. Jackson has always been willing just to take what she has offered him but now that he is back, he wants something more. She is determined that she needs no man or anyone in her life to hurt her again. She has put obstacles in front of her so that no one can get to her heart. Will he wear her down? Will she finally give him a chance? These are two strong characters together and separate. Claire has been through so much that she has become such a stronger person. Jackson is a compassionate man with a sense of humor and has determination when he wants something. He is determine to wait as long as he needs to for Claire to see what is in front of her. Find out if they ever find their happiness. Will she give him a chance to make her happy?

This is my second book by Monica DeSimone and I can't wait to see what she comes out with next from this series. Monica lives in New Jersey with her three dogs. Raised by a football coach, it makes sense that her passion is football. She was inspired to write at an early age when she met a fellow author. When she is not writing, you can find her in her backyard with her dogs, family, and friends. Again, she has created a fast paced story that will keep you reading until the end. You will need to see what happens next. I lost total track of time while reading this story and read it in one sitting. I had a hard time putting it down. Life through struggles in your path sometimes but it is how you work through them that makes you stronger. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see how these two work through the struggles life has given them.

“Nobody looks good in their darkest hour…”
Another five star touch down book for Monica DeSimone. This series is my first time reading her work and I am a new fangirl!
“Nobody looks good in their darkest hour. But it’s those hours that make us what we are. We stand strong, or we cower. We emerge victorious, tempered by our trials, or fractured by a permanent damning fault line.” ~Karen Marie Moning
I loved this quote for the dedication as an opener to the story of Jackson and Claire. This is the second part of a trilogy and should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. That and there will be little bits of the characters from the first novel as well as updates of where they are now, about two years after the first book ended.
Claire is known as the ‘Ice Queen’ amongst her peers at work, and she could care less. She gets what needs done for her team, helps her sister at The Coach’s Shadow Foundation, and lives for her time with her girls. She has been a single mom raising her own daughter, Sasha, as well as her baby sister, Zoey. She has been content till now. Her daughter is about to be done with college and Claire is about to be done working for the football industry. “What woman wants to admit that she was so consumed with her day-to-day life, just surviving really, and has never had a serious relationship? But my girls needed me and frankly, I needed them. Now everyone else has a life and I’m the one still standing on the sideline waiting for the coach to put me in.” She has a lot of demons that she faces every minute of every day, but she is unwavering when it comes to her girls and uses that as her focus. It is the only way she lives with her past. Until it shows up on eighteen years later and plants itself in her direct path.
Jackson is a defensive line coach for the ‘Bama Tide team. It isn’t what he thought he’d be doing at this point in his life but is grateful for it nonetheless. He knows Claire and her secrets something no one, not even her family knows, and he is forced to maintain that secret every day when he sees Claire at work for the foundation and her team. “The destruction of Claire’s life and my career was a piece of cake for my former roommate, Brad, and Claire’s father Mac.” He struggles with this thought every day and will for the rest of his life, but respects the reasons Claire has chosen to keep these secrets buried in the past where they are far away from those she loves. “No one knows of my connection to Jackson, or Jack as he lies to be called and that’s exactly how I want it I have avoided him as much contact with him as I could without jeopardizing my job or giving anything away to my family and friends.” When the secrets become a threat now though Jack has had enough of keeping quiet and will stop at nothing to protect ‘his girls’.
This book went there all the way. It was raw and uncut and it was sweet and romantic too. I adore this little group of friends and family that make up the Coach’s Trilogy. I cannot wait to see what the last book brings us. I am sure it will be mind-blowing with the other two as any kind of comparison.

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone- 5 stars (Second in the trilogy for Coach’s shadow)
Encroachment is a companion novel to Second Half. This time the story is about the other sister Claire McEvoy.
Claire is the “mom” in her friend and family group. Everything she has she has worked hard for and has taken no hands out to get there. Claire is also a mother to an angsty teen daughter who is now in college and seems to want nothing to do with her. Her life consists of football, working with her sister at the society they have built and most importantly avoiding a blast from the past that moved back to town and brings up way too many memories.
It is common knowledge to everyone that Claire has a daughter, but the devastation of how she became pregnant is known only by this person from her past, Jackson Alexander. Jackson was the All-American boy, the one who everyone expected to go far and leave everyone in the dust for the life of professional football. However, after some injuries and career choices, Jackson finds himself right back where everything started and hopes to make amends with the time he has lost with Claire and prove to her that he can still be trusted.
Having this secret between them is something that should bring them closer together, but instead it pushes them lifetimes apart due to a very unwanted new staff member at the football stadium. Claire fights tooth and nail to stay as far away from Jackson as she can, but she is struggling to say no to his Alpha ways and southern charm.
It is important for Jackson to prove to Claire that he has loved her since she was 15 and he will do whatever he can to bury the bad memories of past and will help her to achieve whatever she wants in life.
Will Jackson be able to convince Claire that he is here to stay and will always protect her? Will Claire be able to put down the walls in the fortress she has built around her to protect her heart?
I LOVE THIS SERIES. I said in the review of the first one, but I will say it again- I cannot get enough of these books. Shockingly, I found myself more pulled towards the character of Jackson in this story and fell in love with his charm and his drive to protect and be a genuinely good person. Claire was the typical stubborn southern bell for me, quite like her sister, but I felt that she had a story to tell and wore it on her sleeve. It did bother me a little bit that the author didn’t allow Claire to have a better outlet for the trauma that happened to her in the past and I wanted there to be more an emphasis on mental health and a victims mindset like there was in the first book.
The family and friend dynamic in books is what keeps me coming back, and Monica DeSimone nails this for me. They are all so caring, present and ready to kick some butt whenever necessary. I cannot wait to read the past book in the series and see what companion is chosen for this!

Encroachment (Coach's Shadow Trilogy Book 2)
By: Monica DeSimone
5 out of 5 stars

The story Encroachment (Coach's Shadow Trilogy Book 2) by Monica DeSimone is a sports/romance book. This is the story of Claire McEvoy and Jackson Alexander. This is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy and I loved it just as much as the first one. It is also the second book I have read by the author and I find that both her writing style and character development is amazing. Claire is someone who has always put others first. She helped raise her younger sister as well has having a child of her own at a young age. Her parents seemed to care more about appearances than the happiness and well-being of their daughter. Claire has survived and has built a comfortable life for herself. I love the character of Claire as she is such a giving person. Most people would have given up with all the obstacles put in her way, not Claire. However, Claire also has a hard time coming to terms with her past. She is angry at her parents for their lack of support. She also has a secret. Once that she has tightly guarded. She will not let any man into her life. Now a man that she has known for a long time has professed his love for her. What will Claire do? Will she push him away or take a chance at love?

Jackson has loved Claire since she was fifteen years old. He knows about her pain and what she hides from both her friends and family. He has always supported her as much as she would allow. Now he wants to go further. He knows that he has to go slow and be patient to have a chance with Claire, but he is willing to do whatever he needs to. Then circumstances arise that have Claire reliving the past and some days just trying to survive. Jackson is angry as the position that Claire has been put in and tells her that he will defend her and her daughter. How far will Jackson go to protect Claire and her daughter? Will Jackson be able to convince Claire that she is the one that has claimed his heart? Can he convince Claire to trust him?

This book had me from the first chapter and quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. This is a series that has characters who show up in both books and I love when an author does this. It is like catching up with old friends and finding out what is happening in their lives while reading the story of the two main characters. This book did have my emotions working overtime. I found myself feeling the same emotions as the characters and that is how I know that I have found an awesome book. Find out if Claire and Jackson find their HEA! This book does touch on a sensitive subject, has adult language and adult situations. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

Encroachment book two Coach’s Shadow Trilogy (woo hoo means another book in this amazing series) written by Monica DeSimone
5 stars

I went into this book with high expectations. After finishing Second Half (book one) I had such a book hangover and couldn't wait to dive into this book. I just can't get enough of Monica's writing. Of course she did not disappoint. This book is filled with humor, redemption, forgiveness, acceptance, healing, patience, loyalty, friendship and love.

"I'm empty...My heart hurts so much that I can barely breathe. I ache. I am jealous of everyone in my life and yet I can't allow myself to let anyone into it. Everyone is moving on and I'm here—stagnant and alone.”

Claire aka Legs is a strong, kind, independent, loyal woman. Claire went through a horrible ordeal as a teen which has caused her not to let anyone inside her walls that could crush her hopes and dreams of love or allow any man to overpower her ever again. Claire spends all her time giving to her friends, family and others. Making sure they know they are loved.

“Initially, Jackson wrote me every week...always apologizing for not being there to stop the actual incident... At first, I was unable to respond to any of Jackson’s messages because quite frankly it hurt too much. Then once time passed, I just couldn’t allow myself to respond out of shame. He was my best friend and savior. And I turned my back on him.”

Jackson is loyal, compassionate, has a wicked sense of humor and is determined to get back into his best friend status that has been missing for the last twenty three years with Legs. Jackson has his own secrets that he doesn't want uncovered. He fears he will be perceived as being weak if the truth is discovered.

“All I can think of is that this man could hold my entire world in the palms of his hands, and the damage that it could ultimately do to my world if I let him completely in.”

Jackson and Claire work for the same organization. Claire is finishing her last season working for the team and wasn't anticipating having to face so many memories and feelings from her past. Jackson is just coming back to the organization he disappeared from years ago. He is planning on using the opportunity of working with Claire to get her to see how worthy she is of love. He plans on getting his best friend back into his life.

“...my fear of losing control scares me more, and although all I want to do is run to him, I end up running away.”

The ONLY thing that made my heart happy after reading the dreaded THE END was seeing Off Sides Book 3 Coach’s Shadow Trilogy. I can't wait for this next piece of the story. There was some unfinished business in book two that I need to get answers to.

Encroachment (coach's shadow book 2) by Monica DeSimone 5 stars

Book two of Coach's Shadow trilogy book two also touches on a sensitive subject. The first book was about the younger sister Zoey and suicide. This book is about the older sister, Claire, and rape. Monica DeSimone has a way of writing that touches on serious subject matter, but the story around the subject is written sensibly. It is a well written work of fiction that pulls you in from the first page. You need to read book one before diving into book two so you can get the background of the characters. The first book was all about Zoey and Derrick's perspective and this book is Clare and Jackson's perspective. Claire is older and more mature and it shows in her story. I loved the way that the sister's view points about their parents, Mac and Jamie, were different in each book. Where Zoey idolized her her father and saw her sister and her mom as inseparable, Claire explains that their parents only cared about themselves and the McEnvoy/Applebee name. Zoey was so young and Claire basically raised her and Sasha, who Claire got pregnant with at 16, on her own. Claire holds really deep resentment towards her parents. They only cared about how they looked in the press rather than what was best for the family. She kept her rape hidden from everyone, built walls, and became The Ice Queen. Even her best friend at the time, Jackson, didn't know the story although he is the one that found her after. I love the way that the characters are all woven together and the relationship that they have. This book could be considered a second chance love story. After everything that went down with Claire, Mac basically banished Jackson and he disappeared for 25 years before coming back into Claire's life. They both wanted their best friend back, but neither of them knew how to do it. After being raped at 15, Claire never had a relationship with a man. She was good with just her girls and they had more than enough love to keep her content. Jackson had a big job ahead of him to break down Claire's walls and show her true love between a man and a woman. One of the sting points of this story was how Sasha started pulling away from her mom who was her best friend. The story is beautifully written as so true to life. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good true to life story. I felt like I was drawn into the book and was one of the characters in the story. If you enjoy sports books, second chance love, hot alphas, and family drama, this book is for you!

Encroachment is the second book in this series and follows the story of Claire and Jackson, will the chemistry between them be enough to bury the secrets of the past.

Claire McEvoy has always been the mother of the group. Even when their mother was still alive, Claire was always the one looking after little Zoey. Until when Claire became sixteen she thought she was in love but unfortunately her dreams turned into a nightmare until she realises that she was pregnant, her parents believed she brought shame to the family, but Claire being the strong person she was wanted to care for her child herself. So she decides to emancipate herself and moves into an apartment and supports herself and her daughter. Shoot forward to present day where she works at the New York Giants and has been asked to welcome in the new defence coach Jackson into the fold, but when Claire sees him she realises that her past be catching her up.

Jackson has been in love with Claire for what seems forever but that fateful night may ruin his dreams of Claire forever. They also have an added complication when the reason they have not spoken for all these years also rocks up to the stadium and becomes Claire’s new boss. When Claire realises Brad is back in their lives she starts to panic that he might reveal who he is to Sasha and tries to understand the reason why he is back. Jack understands that Claire is worried and tries to counter the feelings but will he be able to chip away at the wall she has created around her heart for all these years.

As the story goes on you realise the reason why Claire is so afraid of Sasha her daughter finding out who her real father is and what happened the night she was conceived. She is also trying to let Jack love her but is afraid that her lack of history with men will put him off, not knowing that Jack will do anything for this stunning woman.

I love the strength in these characters and that your flaws create the people you can be by learning and adapting to be the best version of yourself. The way Jack waits so patience for her to finally feel comfortable with him and that in the end she truly lets go of the past. Again like in the first book her extended family come to be a great help and knowledge that she truly is not alone with her problems. This book can be read as a standalone but I recommended reading the first book anyways as it’s amazing. I cannot wait for the next book regarding Sasha’s story.

Claire McEvoy’s is continuing to live her life under the fear and hurt and agonizing pain from being assaulted as a teenager. Claire has built a life time of walls, boxes, pu chains on and locked her heart up tight to everyone. Only one good thing came of that violent night and that one thing is her life. She lost so much that night, her innocence, her family and her best friend. Claire has learnt only one way to cope and that is to spend all her time and energy on taking care of everyone else. To make sure her girls have everything and want for nothing. She is never meant to find happiness and is ok with her lot in life. Claire has never let a man into her life since that night and never will. That is until she is rail roaded by the one person that may break down her barriers. But can she let him in?

Jackson Alexander lost it all twenty three years ago. Not only did he lose his best friend but he lost his dreams keeping the terrible ugly secret of that night from the past. He did it for her because he loved her, still loves her, he has loved Claire since she was fifteen years old. Even though she pushed him away, he has decided he is back and he will not let her push him away again. He thought friendship with her would sustain him but no more. Her time for running is over. She just doesn’t know it yet. Claire will certainly push and run but he will push harder. He loves his girls and his mission is to make them his. When he realised the past is in town and threatens all that he loves he vows and declares that he will do everything he has to make them feel safe, loved and wanted. To make sure they have everything they were denied.

Can Claire finally overcome the past? Can she learn to let a man in? Will she finally learn what it means to be loved? Will Claire finally be free of the past or will said past be to much to bear? Is Jackson the one to make Claire whole?

This story is sweet and romantic and had me laughing a few times even though it is based around a violent sensitive tragedy. I enjoyed the family of the characters. This book pulled at my emotions indicating that the author has done a good job at writing.

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone
Four Stars

Encroachment is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy by Monica DeSimone. You can read this book as a stand alone, but I recommend that you read the first book first because there are recurring characters and details from the first book you won't want to miss. Plus the first book was excellent also. The first book, Second Half, in this series was the debut book from Monica and I have to say they keep getting better ano better. I really enjoyed the style in which the author brought these characters to real life. There is some serious subject matter but the author did a great job on bring the problems cause out and dealing with them. This book is full of emotions that pull you in from the first page. I read this book in one sitting I just couldn’t put it down.

Claire McEvoy has walled herself off emotionally from family and friends after the cruel relationship she had when she was young and newly in love for the first time. It was a bad choice but she survived. She just has no intention or interest in putting herself out there ever again. Claire is coping by helping others. That is where she finds her happiness, until he comes back. She hasn't seen Jackson in twenty-three years and now he’s back in town.

Jackson Alexander is back in town after a long absence. He is determined to fight for and win Claire’s love. Jackson has been in love with Claire since he was fifteen years old. He is aware of her past and what happened to her twenty-three years ago. He has always been glad to have the friendship that Claire offered, but now he is back and he wants her love. He is determined to break down the walls she has built and find his way into her heart.

Their relationship is a work in progress. Will Claire be able to drop her guard? Will she let anyone in? Is Jackson’s determination enough to win her heart? You need to read this book and the whole series. It is highly entertaining with the ups and downs, highs and lows. Monica DeSimone is definitely earned a place on my TBR list and I just can't wait to read what she has in store for us in book three.

Encroachment (Coach’s Shadow Trilogy Book 2) by Monica DeSimone

5 stars

Claire McEvoy spends more time taking care of everyone else than she does herself. She practically raised her younger sister and although her sister is married now the mother hen in her still comes out. Claire become a Mom at a very early age. Never feeling like she had any support from her parents she carries a lot of resentment towards them even since their passing, she did it all by herself and has no plans of changing that anytime soon. She tried the love thing once and that ended violently, a secret she has no plans of sharing with even those closest to her, until a friend from her past that knows everything returns and turns her life upside down.

Jackson Alexander was once considered one of the best free safeties in the NFL. 23 years ago he disappeared from pro ball for reasons only he and a couple others know. He is back now as a defensive coach for the NY Giants with a chance to redeem himself. No one knows the history that he and Claire share and not even she knows the love he has carried in his heart for her since she was 15 years old.

Claire and Jackson share the same group of friends and have been friends for years, but Jackson is done with all the walls that Claire has built around herself, and is determined to break them down. He is done watching her put herself last while devoting her whole life to taking care of everyone else and making sure they are all happy, not even giving herself a second thought. She will not push him away this time, he is determined to get through to her, but when the past comes back to haunt them can Jackson keep her from pulling away even further? Will Claire let him in, and allow herself to get past all that's happened and be happy?

This book is amazing, I love how Monica DeSimone can take delicate issues in this book and in the first of this series and write them so beautifully even as tragic as they are. I love this author, I love her writing, I love her storylines and the way she builds her characters are simply amazing. I can not wait for book 3, and these two books have already been put in my tbr again file.

Encroachment is book #2 in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy by Monica DeSimone.
Let me just start by saying……..OMG!! This author ripped my heart out, stomped on it, then put it back together again. I have never felt better! What an incredibly brutal, but beautiful story.

Claire endured so much in her life, and did it silently. The ice queen act was a consequence of all of her suffering and anguish. She had a beautiful daughter and sister who adored her, but did not know even half of what she suffered. She was their rock. but she had noone to lean on. Noone to take some of her load so she could walk a little lighter. Or so she thought.

Jackson has loved Claire for as long as he has known her. He was content to just be near her and wanted to wait for the right time to confess his love and make his move. Events that occurred when they were teenagers set them on a path that neither of them could ever have envisioned.

The author created quite the story about Claire and Jackson ,their family and friends. There were a vast range of issues, emotions and some serious sensuality throughout. And Jackson going alpha on Claire was really, really hot. Monica DeSimone sets an intriguing scene, which draws you in so effortlessly, you are not even aware how into it this story you really are. As a reader, I have gained yet another new reading experience and found a new instant one-click author.

Jackson and Claire were an enigma at the beginning, and the unravelling of each mystery surrounding these two was a gift. Each time. I would have liked to read that Claire found peace and resolved some of the issues she was having, but overall, Encroachment was captivating, emotional and seriously addictive to read. I really hope that is not all we hear about Claire and jackson. I feel they have more of their story to tell and know that it would be incredible.

I couldn't put this story down, and was mesmerised, a little traumatised and energised once I completed the book. 5 stars for captivating me so completely, and because it is a Monica DeSimone story, after all.

Encroachment (Coach’s Shadow Trilogy Book 2) by Monica DeSimone is the second installment of the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first book so you can become acquainted with the characters in the story. This book is about the second chance romance between Claire McEvoy and Jackson Alexander. These characters are relatable and the author is very descriptive with each character’s personal struggles.

Claire McEvoy is a single mom that became pregnant at a young age, which has not allowed her to have a normal relationship. Her parents shunned her and she was forced to learn to live on her own and raise her child. Having to grow up quickly at a young age, Claire built defensive walls around her and is known by all as the “Ice Queen.” She works for the NY Giants and with the foundation created by her sister, Zoey. Someone from her past has resurfaced that she has not seen in twenty-three years. Will seeing Jackson after so many years help her bring down her walls and rekindle feelings she has for Jackson for so many years?

Jackson Alexander has been in love with Claire since he as 15 years old. He was there for Claire after the brutal incidents that changed her life forever, but circumstances forced by someone made him return to his hometown in Kentucky. After twenty-three years, he is back as a coach for the NY Giants. Seeing Claire again has him craving to be with her and finally make her his. Will the return of the person Claire dreads the most push Claire away from the only opportunity Jackson has of making Claire his?

This is the second book I have read by Monica DeSimone. I enjoyed every single moment in the book and can identify with Claire’s situation. The struggle of wanting to put your guard down to finally allow yourself to be loved, instead of always being the protector. I can’t wait to read the third book in the trilogy. I recommend this book to anyone that likes sport romance and second chance love.

Encroachment
By Monica DeSimone

Five Stars

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone is book two of the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy! You get to see two characters you met in the first book, Claire McEvoy and Jackson “Jack” Alexander. If you are like me any bit you wondered more about the sister and of course the newer secondary character in book one, Jack. I am so glad there was a second book for this because I knew their story had so much more involved than meets the eyes in book one.

Claire is considered the ice queen. She lived up to this nickname for a while and honestly, there are times where she definitely lives up to it. Claire doesn’t care about that though. Getting pregnant at fifteen years old and having her daughter at sixteen changed her and of course the circumstances behind that.

Jackson disappeared from football so many years ago but he is back. He knows Claire’s secrets and happened to be her best friend so long ago and knows what happened. Something that no one else but one other person knows about. Jackson was the one who picked Claire up, quiet literally and tried to help her through this secret.

Now Jack is back and there is nothing more that he wants but Claire and of course Sasha. “His girls.”

But will the Ice Queen live up to her name or will she let Jack in. Allow the first man since the incident to come into her life and change her completely?

I loved Jack. He is so patient with a little bit of a temper. He was perfect for Claire. I understood there were a lot of things that Claire did not want to talk about which is understandable. As someone who went through the same thing as her I understand not wanting to talk about it but wish she had. She has such an amazing support system something a lot of people are lacking.

Seeing the other characters in the first book in this one as well was amazing. Sometimes I wanna knock some sense into Sasha because she was being a total diva but besides that things in this book were so amazing.

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone is book two in her Coach's Shadow trilogy and is just all the yes. How sad is it that football is my favorite sport and even I had to look up what this word meant. Whoops. Could be read as a standalone but with the insight to other characters and Claire in the first book, I think it's best to read in order.

Jackson, "Jack" to everyone except Claire apparently, Alexander is forty four years old. But don't let age fool you, he's a beautiful, beautiful man. He is now a defensive line coach for the Giants. He and Claire have a history, he has seen her in her darkest hour and wants nothing more than for her to be his. A little dominating, which was sexy as all get out, but ever so gentle with Claire. This man just oozes testosterone and deliciousness. Will he be able to break down her walls and get what he wants?

Thirty eight year old Claire McEvoy is calm and very much reserved. In book one we learn that she got pregnant at sixteen with her daughter Sasha, but we never find out about the father. She now has brought herself out of some horrible, dark times and is working for the Giants (ew, sorry (; ). She will do absolutely anything for her daughter and little sister, whom she raised as her own. One day her world might come crumbling down as a darkness from her past shows his ugly face and threatens her family which does not fly with her. Will she be able to handle this? Will she just finally let the man who loves her break down her walls?

I am so happy that this is who this book was about. After book one I was dying to know what was going on between these two! Plus I knew I'd be getting inside to Derek and Zoey, Claire's sister and first book stars. But I can't tell you how many "OH NO" "oh (expletive)" moments I had during this book! I absolutely LOVE this trilogy, yes thank goodness there's another freaking book. Tell me more, tell me more!!

4 stars!
Encroachment is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy by Monica DeSimone. This could be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the books in order. In the first book the author told an emotionally story of Zoey and her battle with depression and subsequent suicide attempt. In the second book we learn about Claire’s story and again it is another heart wrenching one but as with the first book the author does an amazing job with writing about such sensitive subjects.
I liked Claire in the first book, she was feisty and independent. She clearly loves her sister Zoey and daughter Sasha. She was only 16 when she got pregnant with Sasha and we find out more about Sasha’s father and what happened between him and Claire. Even after 23 years Claire has the walls around her heart built high and it’s down to Jackson to try and break them down. I’m not sure Claire realises just how strong she is. At 16 she was left to bring up a baby alone as well as try and raise her younger sister.
I just absolutely LOVED Jackson! He has to be one of the nicest characters! He obviously knows what Claire has been through in the past and not only has he loved her from afar since she was 15 but he has also supported her and Sasha in other ways too. He really was a true gentleman! I loved the way he approached the relationship with Claire and the sex scenes between them were pretty hot!!
As with the first book there were some great secondary characters and it was nice to see the continuation of Zoey and Derrick’s story as well as Suzie and Ben appearing again! I think this story also started to show a different side to Sasha and leads us nicely into her story which will be the third book in the series.
So far I am really enjoying this series, both books have been written really well and whilst addressing some hard and sensitive subjects they are respectfully written. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

SECOND CHANCE LOVE!!
Encroachment is the second book of the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy. I found this to be as good as the first book but you will want to read Second Half first because the characters from Second Half are referenced in this book.
Claire McEvoy works with her sister at the same foundation that the was started to honor their father. Claire doesn’t have the same cozy feeling about her father that her sister has. Her father and mother turned their back on her years ago when she needed them most. She has made it on her own and pretty much kept her feelings to herself. It has been very hard for Claire but she is determined to keep what is hers safe. Zoey, Claire’s little sister sees Claire as the person who raised her and she loves her dearly, but sometimes the women can drive Claire nuts because she can’t hide anything from her little sister.
Jackson Alexander was Claire’s best friend from years ago and is back to make Claire see that whether they are together or not he is going to protector her and her family. He has watched Claire aka Legs since she was running after Zoey on the side lines at the football games. That is when he knew he loved her. Jackson aka Jack has had plenty of tragedy of his own. He has stepped up and help his father when he lost his mother. Now he is back and will win Claire’s heart if it kills him. Jackson left Claire a long time ago when she needed him the most. He knows Claire is determined to never let a man in her heart ever again but he won’t let that stop him. Will Claire fall in love with Jackson and trust him again? What will they do when the creep that hurt Claire years ago returns and could control their futures?
Monica DeSimone has once again written a story that I loved from the first chapter until the end. These characters are easy to fall in love with because their struggles are the same struggles we all face. I can’t wait to see what the third book holds for us.

Encroachment is the second book in Monica DeSimone’s Coach’s Shadow Trilogy. I guess you could read it as a standalone but reading the first book would give you some background information on the other characters that appear in the story. The series is a sport romance and by now, I can say I am a fan of sports romance! I loved how Monica showed us what happened to the characters from the first book and that is why I stand with the statement that you absolutely should read the first book before starting on this one!
This story takes you through a gamut of emotions, I cried and I laughed and I raged and I was so proud of the heroine that I could barely contain it! The writer has created another story that pulls you from the first page! She has created characters that bring along a journey and make us feel what they are feeling and I am telling you, they feel deep so you feel deep …
This story is about Claire McEvoy and Jackson ‘Jack’ Alexander. Jack has loved Claire since she was 15 years old and he was 22 when they were the best friends. He knows the secret Claire has been hiding for the past 23 years, he knows the violence she lived through and admires her for how she has picked up the pieces and what kind of a woman she has become. Jack has never forgotten about Claire and has always kept his eyes on her and now, when he is back in her life, he will NOT allow her to push him away.
Throughout the story, we are kept on tenterhooks, will Jack succeed and pull down the walls Claire has had to build to cope with the violence she experienced when she was 15. Will he get her to trust him …? Will he win her …? Will Claire give Jack a chance to make her happy …?
I cannot wait for the third book in the series, I hope she does not keep us waiting too long … We need to find out what happens next!!!

Encroachment- Monica DeSimone

5 Stars Review

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone is book two in her Coach’s Shadow Trilogy, and it’s just as amazing as the first! These books are so beautifully written and the characters just pull you in. Each character has experienced something that you don’t even want to imagine and reading how they overcame those obstacles is the ultimate prize. I would advise not reading them as a standalone as reading them in order gives you a really good understanding of the characters and their behavior.

Book two follows Jackson and Claire, in the first book we get the feeling that something happened to her that changed her life, and we finally learn what happened in this one. Claire is an incredibly protective and loving mother and friend. She was a teen mom and was forced to grow up fast. She has always put everybody else first, even taking care of her sister Zoey like she’s her own, and it’s finally time for that to change.

Jackson has finally returned after many years, no one understands Claire’s anger towards him. They don’t know that he used to be her best friend and suddenly one day he was gone. Now that he’s back she doesn’t know how to act. Jackson has been waiting forever to be with Claire and he will stop at nothing to get her. Will she finally learn to love him or will she let her past and her fears run her life. After all, “How do you love someone that witnessed your darkest and weakest moment.”

The women in this series are so strong and inspirational. They’ve endured so much yet remain strong and still manage to be happy. I loved reading Claire and Jackson’s story, finally the truth is revealed and everything becomes a lot clearer. However, there are a few questions that are left unanswered and I can’t wait to get the answers in book 3, Off Sides that will follow Claire’s daughter Sasha.

Encroachment ( Coach’s Shadow Trilogy, Book 2)
By Monica DeSimone
5/5 Stars

Encroachment is the second book in , Coach’s Shadow Trilogy by Monica DeSimone. Read, Second Half first. You'll get a better understanding of the characters and the events leading up to this book!
This book is about love, family and friends. Sometimes, you have friends, that turn into family. And family, that turn into your close friends.
Claire’s McEvoy’s first attempt at love when she was sixteen, didn't go as planned. But she got a beautiful daughter out of the whole ordeal.
She carries the pain and anguish inside. Many don't know she is hurting. Even those close to her, don't know her past. She likes it that way too! She has come a long ways from that young and naive teenager. She has struggled emotionally and financially over the years. But one thing she does know, she doesn't need anyone for anything!!
Claire and Zoey ( sister ) are in the midst of getting the Coach’s Shadow foundation underway. The started the foundation after their father ( Robert “Mac” McEvoy ) , who passed away. He was a well known professional football player coach. They have both been in his shadows for many years.
Jackson Alexander has been keeping a close eye on Claire. Even years later, he first laid eyes on her when she was just twelve years old. She was watching her kid sister watching their dad coach. He was instantly drawn to her, even back then. But he kept his distance. Until now…
He's back and he's on a mission to win Claire over. Will she let him in? Or will the past rear its ugly head and make her fear for the future ??
You gotta read this book, it will take you on an amazing ride… with lots of ups and downs!! Wonderful job, Monica!! I'm looking forward to reading the third book in the trilogy, can't wait to see what happens next!!

Jackson:
First saw Claire when she was only fifteen years old. He knew there was something special about her from the start. Jackson loved to call Claire Legs simply because he knew it annoyed her a lot. Jacksons roommate Brad called her Red because of her chestnut hair had auburn highlights when the sun hit it. Claire didn’t mind this nickname so it stuck to her. However, life was about to change for Jackson and Claire, for him it would be the destruction of his career and for Claire the destruction of her life.

Claire:
Is settled into her life, she has brought up her younger sister Zoe and spent most of her life being a single mother to her daughter Sasha. Claire is so proud of the way Zoe and Sasha have turned out. But now after years of not seeing or hearing from Jackson he is about to re-enter Claire’s life and turn it upside down. Claire had become known as the Ice Queen, a name she didn’t mind having. It was a name that she knew protected her and a name that had nobody messing with her. She allowed Jackson to be closer to her than anyone else besides Zoe and Sasha. Zoe, her friend Suzie and her daughter Sasha knew that Jackson cared for her a lot and told her she needed to let Jackson in. They told her she deserved to be loved in the way they knew she loves them. Claire wanted to let Jackson in abut she also knew there was no way she was going to ever be hurt again.

Was Claire going to let Jackson in, or was she going to keep him on the outer?

Was Jackson going to be able to love Claire in the way he wanted, or was he going to have to walk away from the only woman he has ever loved?

If he needed to walk away who was going to protect his girls?

Encroachment is the second book in the Coach’s Shadow trilogy by Monica DeSimone and wow what a story Claire has. She has a strength that few people have and I admire how she could overcome something as horrible as what she did and to do it with the class and dignity says a lot.

Claire McEvoy has done an incredible job raising her daughter Sasha on her own after getting pregnant at sixteen. She has fought and worked hard for everything she has now. Her daughter is finishing college and Claire not only helps her sister out with the Coaches Shadow Foundation, but she also works for the New York Giants and is quite successful.

Jackson Alexander is back with the Giants as a coach after playing for them over twenty years ago. He fell in love with Claire when she was just fifteen years old but he couldn’t protect her and he still relives that day with nothing but regret, but he has been keeping an eye on Claire and Sasha all of these years to make sure they are okay. Jackson has decided that he is going to win Claire over and make her his woman after all this time.

Claire has overcome so much on her own starting before she got pregnant with Sasha and continues to overcome the negative things that come into her life. She was the mother figure that Zoey so desperately needed as a child and still needs to this day.

The author gives such incredible depth to the characters even if they are or appear to be in the background or supporting characters and the strong female leads really impress me. There weren’t quite as many laughs in this book as the first but I really did enjoy this book and I’m looking forward to the next one in the series to see how everyone in the group continues to grow.

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone is book two of the Coach's Shadow trilogy. This book is Claire andJackson's story and is told from both of their points of view.

Claire McEvoy takes care of everyone around her. Both her daughter and her sister are now finding their way. She is watching mostly everyone find the one person they love, settle down with and start families. She can't help but feel the loneliness that stems from that. Claire thought she found love once when she was younger but she couldn't have been more wrong. That experience has left her with a sour taste for relationships and really anything to do with the opposite gender. Jackson was part of her life once but she needs to steer clear of him because he knows her most shameful secret and Claire just doesn't want to let him close.

Jackson Alexander has always had feelings for Claire. At least since she was fifteen. He knows she has her issues but that doesn't stop him from wanting to be around her. He just needs to make her see that they could have a real shot. After an unexpected appearance from someone from their past, Jackson is sure his second chance is gone. But no matter what he will do whatever it takes to protect Claire and Sasha.

Claire and Jackson are experiencing so many changes, it seems hard to keep up. There's something brewing but neither of them can quite figure it out.

This book was such a great follow up to the first book. Reading the first book Is necessary so that you can get the background information needed for the second book. I can't wait to see what the third book has in store for this group of characters.

Encroachment by Monica DeSimone is the second book in the Coach’s Trilogy. Claire McEvoy’s life has certainly not been very easy. From the time she was growing up, she has built barrier and huge walls that would make it easier to protect herself from getting hurt, making sure she was feeling safe and trusting anyone. This was all due to the horrible act of violence that had happened during her first real relationship of love. Because of this horrible event, Claire took care of others and made sure they all felt loved and were feeling happy.

Jason Alexander first laid his eyes on Claire when he was fifteen years old,and from that first time he was in love and still feels that way. But he has never acted on those feelings. Even though he witnessed what happened after the horrible event Claire went through, he just offered her his friendship. Now twenty three years later, he is back to fight for his chance to love Claire as he has always wanted.

Can Claire allow her heart and soul to be loved again? Jason will not give up the fight, he in his heart knows he will not let Claire push him away once again. He needs to convince Claire she is the only one for him, and that he loves her with all his heart. This will be very difficult for Claire to trust him, but he will do his best to make it happen.

Encroachment had me from the first page of this love story. The strength both of these characters had, showed you can learn to love and make the best of your life. Monica DeSimone took these hard issues and was able to write such a beautiful story. I could not stop reading. I am excited to read the last book in the Coach’s Shadow Trilogy.

Monica DeSimone's Encroachment is the second book of the Coach's Shadow Trilogy. This is a romance/sports novel. With this trilogy, it is highly recommended to read in order as there is a continuing theme that carries across the books that you could miss details on that would aid in better understanding each story.

Encroachment is Claire McEvoy's story. We initially met Claire in the first book of the trilogy, Second Half. She is Zoey's older sister and almost a single parent who has raised her daughter alone. He daughter being her sole focus, outside of her baby sister, Zoey. Claire was written as a strong character in the first book, but as we begin reading Claire's story, we learn that is only part of who Claire is and not even close to who she truly is. Underneath, there are layers to her life that will be unearthed as Jackson Alexander comes back into her life bring back more than the push and promise of friendship. Jackson is about to encroach into Claire's life leaving nothing to chance.

Jackson Alexander is a force to be reckoned with. His life has not been easy, but he has built a life to be proud of. Now that he's back in Claire's life, he wants more and he is going to move heaven and earth to get what he wants. I honestly loved Jackson's character. Monica DeSimone continues with a story that is not full of just sunshine and rainbows, but is loaded with loss, disappointment, anger, and pain. Again, this author handles it in a way that works for the story. I have fallen in love with this trilogy and each of the characters. I cannot wait for the last of the trilogy and see how everything is brought together.
