My grandfather was 82nd, 508th PIR, F-Co during World War II. When I was young, I would often overhear him telling of his experiences during the war to visitors and friends. Certainly not appropriate subject matter for such a young mind, but now that I am older I wish I had written down his tales.
Before he died when I was around 20, he let me borrow a copy of this book for awhile. I read it cover to cover, amazed, sadden, and awestruck by the stories written inside, including my grandfather's own!
Yes, these stories are taken from first hand accounts!
There is a nice index at the back of the book for readers to find references in the text for specific names of troopers too!
