The Big Book of Numerology: The Hidden Meaning of Numbers and Letters

Rate this book
This is unlike any other book on numerology, because it reveals the science behind this ancient mystical art and explains why it works. It is also the first book to present a thorough explanation of the numbers and letters, starting with their origins--the how and why of their design--and exploring their nature in names and language. In addition, it introduces the Inner Guidance Number, a powerful tool for accessing our inner knowing. This is a repackaging of The Secret Science of The Hidden Meaning of Numbers and Letters by Shirley Lawrence (New Page, 2001; 9781564145291), which has until recently only been available via Lightning Source.

A very special book dear to my heart as its helped me forecast stock market movements with greater accuracy - highly recommend! Undoubtedly this book arguably proves law of vibration as measured by numbers us a real tangible thing.

I am finally done with this book, and I do NOT recommend it as a resource. There are multiple blatant falsehoods listed as facts, contradictions and inconsistencies galore, and the author often rambles quite a lot.

The inaccurate information is all over the place and makes me question whether any of the actual numerology information is correct. There's some stuff in the beginning about thoughts healing disease without any disclaimer that this should be taken in tandem with medical care. There's things stated as fact that took 2-3 minutes on Wikipedia to disprove (). Some of the correct information -may- have been harder to find in 2001, but by the 2014 release of this version of the book some fact checking should have taken place.

While a bibliography is included in the back, there is very little pointing to what sources were used for some of her research. No citations in the text or footnotes. Occasionally you'll get a book referenced in a paragraph, but not often.

This was a slog of word salad in some places, and weirdly focused on Christian theology in others. It seemed like the author had to really twist some of the findings to support the word analysis and inner number sections. They sometimes switched words entirely instead of finishing out the analysis of the word they were working on ().

I do not recommend this. I cannot even trust it as a resource to go back to for the non-historical pieces of information because I don't trust that the author did the research properly.

Shirley Blackwell has done a phenomenal job researching the history of numbers and letters. This book is a true pleasure to read, and it wonderfully invokes a feeling of mystery.
