Short ghost stories of haunted locales in Wisconsin. Some read like factual retellings of actual happenings, but most seem more like fiction that is loosely based on local lore. I prefer the former, so this was just an ok read for me.
It was a pretty standard ghost stories book that reminded me of Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark. The short stories were spooky and fun to read through. It is a pretty quick read. The only negative about the book is that it was kind of confusing, sometimes chapters would be extensions of previous stories (same story but throughout different time periods, etc.).
I thought there would be more. Maybe pictures of the places or more involved stories, not just a brief little encounter from a bunch of different people. Even a map of the places would have been a nice addition. However, it was a short, easy read, with enough stories that won’t entirely creep you out.
A nice collection of ghostly stories and an easy enough read for a terrible reader like myself. Bought it from a small shop in Door County, so also helped support a local business. Worth a read if you like a good ghost story.
