Lessons in Civility

Rate this book
After his father’s arrest, and while suffering from/mending from a broken heart, Weston Lampton flees his home in Overstead and lands in Glendale Springs. He spends most of his time in the saloon downing his sorrows, until Marshal Thomas orders him to complete a course in Civility. Reluctant, Weston attends the first class, only to find the instructor is the marshal’s daughter. Not only is she beautiful and highly sought after, but her occasional touch and glances give Weston the impression she’s interested in him. But after Weston’s recent disappointments, he can’t seem to find the courage to pursue her. Will she also reject his heart?

When Grace Thomas’s daddy censures her for rejecting another offer of marriage, she couldn’t care less. She’s had enough of her daddy’s advice, especially because she has advice of her own— quit drinking and marry again. In a strange turn of events, her daddy offers her a solution to both. All she needs to do? Reform the town drunk by the fall festival. She accepts the challenge, but she didn’t foresee a new student, an uncommonly handsome and private man, joining her class. Between lessons and experience, Grace finds herself doing what she thought impossible— falling in love. Now Grace must learn to take the first step toward romance, helping Weston along the way. Will she have the courage to face what she’s only read about in books?

Grace Thomas wants her father to stop drinking and find love. Her father wants his daughter Grace to be happy and married. When her father signs her up to teach civility to a couple of the towns most troublesome citizens, she encounters Wes Lampton. This is a short, sweet, historical romance with wonderful characters.

How can a wager bring love? They want the best for each other but can only a bet provide this? Grace needs to teach lessons in civility to win her side of the bet. Weston has been forced to take the lessons, will it bring them what they need?
The interaction between the characters is entertaining, really enjoyed reading this story. I enjoyed all the books in this series.
