My name is Eve Redding. I accidentally initiated the apocalypse.
Earth had just been plunged into interplanetary war with a far superior alien race. Half my teammates had the Sickness, a disease with no known cure, which drove you crazy as it killed you. I was being blackmailed by a queen who was afraid of my power and didn't believe in the prophecy of the gods.
With basically no idea what I was doing, I set out to fix everything I'd broken.
Gods of Myth and Midnight is the third book in the Seeds of Chaos series, a LitRPG/GameLit book that combines science fiction and game elements. Fans of Ready Player One, Red Rising, and The Hunger Games will likely enjoy this series.
Azalea Ellis loves to bend the world to her will. Maybe that's why she likes writing books. Creating worlds and people and then sending them through every ordeal imaginable might even give her some kind of sick thrill. Who knows? Azalea is also an artist, so perhaps she just likes taking things from her head and bringing them to life. Because of her artistic background, she's lucky enough to also be able to do all of her own book covers, and does freelance illustration when she feels like it. She's fascinated by almost everything, and wishes she could live to be a thousand, so she would have time to learn and do everything she wants.
Oh goodness... I thought one of my favourite's of the nine was going to die. This little twist was so much cuter though. This was a doozy to read... so much destruction and death, I didn't think Eve & Co. would succeed in helping the humans and Estreyans but I'm happy to see I was wrong.

The third entry rambles around meaninglessly before introducing the antagonist in the last fifth of the text. Then instead of tying off the end we go full last page sequel cliffhanger. I think I’m done until the series is finished.
Not quite as good as the first two. Where they were dark, this one gets a little dreary, especially in the middle where Eve and Co. seem stuck on a bunch of serially fruitless errands.
But, a lot of what made the series so much better than most UF is still here. Eve is quite badass at times, and reliably seeks power rather than running away from it like most UF heroines do. It's still very violent, but the violence is somewhat less satisfying because it rarely seems to produce conclusive results.
Some stuff is a little confusing. Like, just how tall is Eve supposed to be? There also seems to be a continuity error in the middle, which makes it unclear whether or not a certain character was killed, although this doesn't make much difference in the story.
With some fairly interesting developments toward the end of this book, and with the next book in the series apparently only months away ("Winter 2018"), Myth and Midnight is definitely recommended to fans of the Seeds of Chaos series.
Interesting enough to hold my attention, but I'm not sure how many more of these I'll read. Then ending of the book hints at many more books in the series, and I'm not sure I'm up for that. The story is good enough, but I already sense repetitive patterns, so I'm not sure how long the story will remain viable for me. In any case, if you're not worried about that, (and most ofyou probably aren't), then by all means, read this one, it's a nice advancement of the story, even if it doesn't resolve much.
When I started this book I figured it would be the end of a trilogy and didn't see where the author would take it which I find rare, though I secretly hoped there would be more because she has created a nice universe and it would be enjoyable to have more of it. This book wraps up the current arc nicely and sets up perfectly for a continuing story promising much more to come. It resolves what I felt was lacking from the second book by introducing insurmountable obstacles repeatedly and has all of the conflict, drama, and tension a reader could hope for. While stats do play a role it still doesn't feel like an ordinary LitRPG to me as they aren't as prominent. Additionally unlike other LitRPGs the main character doesn't just seemingly stumble onto legendary items and gear willy nilly just before they coincidentally needed them, Instead she struggles and fights and claws her way through her problems evolving as a character as she does so making her a lot less shallow than other characters. Over all I really enjoyed this book and think it may have even been the best one in the series so far though without the first one this one wouldn't be possible.
I am not loving this ending. These books are long. Like, LOTR long. I got so bored of the fight scenes, I just glazed over most of them. It's also starting to feel a bit like a series of unfortunate events. I'm not really about torturing the MC just for the sake of drawing out a story. Not sure I'll bother with the next one. Might just imagine that last fight and moment of triumph as the end of it, instead.
A very enjoyable read! I really like the characters and how they evolve. They all have their own opinions and biases. All the mighty fights and magical effects are really neat too! I do wish more lit rpg content was found within though. Great read for anyone looking for an entertaining read! Read this!
I did enjoy this book. Maybe not as much as the first two in the series but it was still good. It kind of took a damper when the sickness became pestilence.
The third book in the series follows the same pattern as made the first two a success. The author takes a few shortcuts here and there, but that's ok for this kind of book.
I'm done with this series. Usually I'm okay with reading an entire series if the first couple of books were slow, but by this book, I was done. So boring. Sorry author. I appreciate your very hard work.
