The Jerk Duet #2

The Day the Jerk Started Falling

Rate this book
My name is Oliver Arsen, but my mates call me Ollie.

I live hard and love harder, and it’s love that usually gets me in the most trouble.

According to the greater population, I’m the ultimate jerk.

My affection tends to be short-lived—a quality I’ve been assured multiple times by the fairer sex isn’t becoming—and the leaving part of loving and leaving has always come natural.

At least, it used to.

Until her.

Luciana Wright.

She’s an American bombshell and my sister’s best friend—a woman so wrong for
me, it’s written in the waves.

And she’s the reason we’re all here.
The reason I have to go back to explain how it all went wrong.

To the day the jerk started falling.

What a conclusion to this wonderful fun duet. As I stated in my review for the first book, this is my first read for this author duo and I absolutely enjoyed it. Loved it.

It’s a different kind of story, a story told through podcasts, feelings expressed, actions told, memories shared, they just lay everything out in their story for us to hear on their podcasts. This book started out with Ollie giving a podcast of his story of meeting Lucky and how and when he fell in love with her. We get Ollie’s side of the story in this books podcast, we heard Luckys POV in book one. And let me say, I enjoyed hearing his thoughts. About a little more than half way through the book, we are brought to present time and we get to pick up where we kinda left the story in book one. At this point it going to a dual POV =))

This book was a fun adventure, a laugh out loud love connection, a swoony Aussie Surfer that won my heart.

Eeeep - finally book #2! Phew that was a long-ass waiting-time for this book! ☺

(It was only a week, but still. #OLLIE!)

description

This time Ollie is talking/writing to us in the podcast. He needs us to hear the story from his POV!

And we start a few hours before he has to go pick up Lucky from the airport in Sydney.

Poor guy. He only got 90 minutes to get used to the idea that his sister's best friend will be traveling around the world with him.

Again we see how Lucky and Ollie do not start their 'thing' with the typical and sweet and funny meet-cute moment. Nope. It's a bit of a hate-at-first-sight thing. But of course there's also this huge attraction simmering in the background - behind all that arguing and hating.☺ But Ollie will tell you all about that and about everything else! ☺

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!!!

description

ADORABLE!

Ollie's POV was just as adorable as Lucky's.

I just wished we would've moved through all the repeating-moments in the first half a bit faster. Not that he repeated all the conversations or anything. It wasn't boring or stupid. I just wanted to get to the point where they get together again in the present time! It was just too long. Half the book was stuff that could've been cute into half or even less! But it was also fun and sweet to read Ollie's thoughts about the whole thing. I definitely loved the second half of the book so much more.

I really adored this series/duet. Everything was so cute and funny and australian-ish and sunny and oceany and travely and surfy and ... OLLIE! (Even though the australian-ness of the book was hugely over the top. In book #1 it was really ok, but Ollie's book! He was like a comedy-comic australian! Very Weird. Blimey!)

Can I get a fanfic kind of spin-off where Ollie and Thatch fall in love?? That would be amazing! ☺

I liked the first book more - it could've done as a longish book instead of a duet - cut a lot of pages and repeats and just make it a dual POV book. I would've loved that much more!
I missed the rest of the travels in the last book too. I was looking forward to Portugal and Hawaii :/
Once they met in Paris the story was basically done.

BUT - I still really enjoyed reading those two books! Ollie is adorable! And Lucky is really fun and crazy and ... reading her POVs is really entertaining!

Can't wait to see what will be next by those two author-ladies!

THE DAY THE JERK STARTED FALLING was the almost perfect finale in this amazing Jerk duet! An adorable & funny Podcast-Romance! I just loved it! Hurry to your nearest amazon - Ollie will be sold out in no time!!!

Well, hold the phone folks.
This is a duet that I really really liked!

description

I was reeeeeeally hesitant with this one because I knew this second book in the duet was told from Ollie's perspective but would be re-hashing the first book essentially. And, let me tell you... one thing that trumps my disdain for a duet/trilogy is a complete copy/paste of one book into another book but told from a different perspective. It SCREAMS "desperate" and "money-grab" and I'm not even a little sorry for saying that. (looking at you E.L. James)

description

THIS book, however, was so so happily NOT that. Was there some overlap from the first book... yes, some. But, this really skimmed over quite a bit of the first books detail and created its own detail and brand new content.

description

And, only half the book is from Ollie's past perspective. The rest of the book is present day and it was... fantastic. I'd also like it made clear that in my own personal opinion, Ollie wasn't even close to a jerk. I really thought this would be an enemies-to-lovers, alphahole situation and it really wasn't. Then again, I've read some really arsehole H stories, so my scale is rather slanted.

description

For me, it was jerk-light. Not a lot of steam TBH, but again... I'm slanted. Personally... I think this duet is definitely worth a read.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, where to start? I'm going to be of unpopular opinion here, I'm sure of it. But I just didn't love this one. After we left off at the end of Lucky's book, I was determined to know what would happen between these two.

All I got was a series of podcasts re-telling the story from Ollie's POV, a bunch of annoying Aussie slang used incorrectly, and an ending that was fun, but also a bit lacklustre.

My main issue with this, and this is HUGE for me, is the total turnaround of Ollie being written well in his Aussie language and slang. If you read my first review, you'll remember that I thought he was really well written in that book. But in this book? good lord all I could do was *CRINGE* . As an Aussie, I have to tell you, we really do not say sheila that often AT ALL. In fact, unless we're joking around or something, we probably only use it when its actually someones name. And the word blimey? Used WAY too much, and in the TOTALLY INCORRECT way. As an Aussie, it didn't even make sense for 99% of the times it was used in this book. It should've been the word bloody, instead. We don't use blimey, and if we do, it's not like that. Also, we do not greet everyone by saying G'day, contrary to popular belief. Just like the rest of you, we say hey or hello. And did the book really need to keep bringing up how we call flip flops, thongs? Yes, we do, its true, but it was mentioned too much for me.

This book, in my opinion, really needed to be proof read by an Aussie first. We really do NOT all speak like Steve Irwin or Croc Dundee. It's an Aussie thing we make fun of, and yes we are quite ocker, but this was so over the top I nearly had to DNF the book. And for me, with a Max Monroe book, that's unheard of. It may not seem like much to someone who isn't Aussie, and for those people who aren't, you may not have even noticed it, but to this Aussie, it grated on my nerves way too much, and I feel it needs to be said.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG from all that, the second half of this story was much better than the first half. Once we got to Ollie's truth and his reveal, and then we got to the present day, things ramped up and I was really along for the ride and hoping that everything would play out the way I hoped. I like these two, and I wanted them to get their HEA. And of course, in typical MM fashion, all sorts of things happened, and everything was all over the place.

When these two finally meet back up, I was a little bit let down. There was a huge amount of build up, and then it kind of just...fell flat. I was left wondering where the moments I was hoping for were, and when they were going to happen. Everything kind of just rushed on from there, and yes there were cute little things, and some typical funny moments, but it just kind of fell flat.

While I normally love Max Monroe books, it pains me to say that this one I only just liked. It was hugely different in too many ways from the first one, and I know this is going to be an unpopular view, but I'm just one person right? So yes, give it a go, theres a good base storyline, but keep an open mind as well.

Great conlcusion to the duet. Not as "fantastic" as the first one and I didn´t think it would be since the first one would be hard to follow up for me, but still very very good.

Man, oh man. Talk about swoon-freaking-worthy! Ollie’s side of the story was just all-around captivating and so utterly addicting. You won’t be able to put this down until you finally hear the whole truth from him. You won’t be able to stop reading until you reach the very end. Because Ollie and Lucky? They’ll definitely take you on one hell of an insanely adorable journey of love with unexpected twists and a crap ton of humor.

Falling in love isn’t perfect. It never was, and it never will be, and to think it could be is foolish.

Ohhh yes, I know deep in my gut I laughed harder in this book. It was just too damn hilarious! Hell, I think one bout even lasted for an entire chapter. The thing I like most about Max Monroe’s humor is that it’s not forced at all. It’s so natural that when it falls off of Lucky’s or Ollie’s lips, it will just catch you totally off guard.

I love you, Lucky Wright. And I’ll do anything for love. Yes, Meatloaf, even that.

Although I think the one who truly stole the show here was Oliver Arsen. God, Ollie—you sweet, irresistible, lovable Aussie, you! I honestly didn’t think you'd have it in you, but you showed a completely vulnerable and softer side here that just made me fall so much harder for you. I knew you could turn up the charm like no other, but this... this was on a whole other level. Even you admitted and knew it. Luciana Wright can certainly own her nickname with zero doubts now. Because she’s nothing but lucky in love with you.

I was as deep in you as you were in me, and we were both powerless to stop it.

Needless to say, I still have this huge goofy grin on my face. I still have the swarm of butterflies fluttering like crazy in my stomach. And I’m still high up on cloud nine after reading this. The Day the Jerk Started Falling is just everything I hoped it would be and more. It wasn’t only the perfect way to end an already entertaining tale to boot, but it also sealed the deal that Max Monroe has found a new fan in me.

Oy, how do I write this.

I have been hanging out for Ollie's side of the story, but unfortunately for me, this was a bit of a miss.

As an Aussie, I praised Max Monroe for not falling into the trap of making Ollie sound like Paul Hogan, throwing another shrimp on the barbie.

Unfortunately in this second part of this duet, they have fallen into the trap. It is like Crocodile Dundee and Steve Irwin were used as reference material on how Australians speak.

I won't lie, I nearly did DNF this book as it grated on this Aussie ear so much. What this book really needed was an Aussie beta reader or proof reader who could tell them that "hey, Australian's don't talk like that" and "whoops, you got this saying completely wrong". Oh, and the blokes and sheilas stuff - just nope. They most probably won't bother non-Australians but they irritated this one so much.

I did persevere though, and found that the second half of the book was a lot better, a lot less "ockerish" than the first half.

I would have liked more of the present day than the first half of the book being Ollie's retelling of the first book, but this could just be me.

I did enjoy where things went when we got to the present, and I did like Ollie's voice through the podcasts.

So whilst I didn't love it, I did eventually like it.

A little tear falls from my eye from that ending. It was touching and cute. I turned into a sappy fangirl!

The Day the Jerk Started Falling is a recap from the first book and this time it's Ollie's turn to tell his point of view in a podcast. The second half of the book continues on the present time where things left off. I don't want to give further thoughts because I might utter a spoiler. The concept is clever. Ollie and Lucky's journey is simply romantic and sweet. Their reunion made me smile and cry. It was so good guys.

From this day on, Max Monroe will be on my radar. This author duo writes great romcoms!

So funny! So witty! So swoony! I loved every minute!

The Day the Jerk Started Falling by the brilliant writing duo of Max Monroe gives us Ollie’s POV…and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! If you loved him in the first book, you are gonna fall head over heels in love with him in book two! He’s so smooth, charming, and oh so swoony. I just couldn’t get enough! It was so gratifying and entertaining to finally get into the head of Oliver Arsen, to find out how he really feels about his Lucky. Oh, you guys! I just want to squeeze these characters and never let go! Are you ready for the ultimate jerk to finally get his girl? Well, strap in and get ready for one hell of a hilarious and swoony love story!

I should have mentioned this in my review of the first book of this series buuuuuut, I did these books as audiobooks and although I enjoyed the voices of the folks narrating I did not like the fact that they would chuckle or giggle or whatever you want to call it at weird times. I genuinely felt that they sometimes chuckled at a point in the story that I would have never thought to laugh. I’m sorry to say (since I never want to put down someone for doing their job) I would recommend that these books be read yourself verses doing them as audio books.

I will say the audio book did fit into the fact that this, like the first book, is mostly told from a podcast format. Also the Australian accent for Ollie was lovely.

This is mostly from Ollie’s POV as he tells their first meeting and relationship from his side.

This writing duo is always a win for me so like all of their other books I thoroughly enjoyed this and will always recommend their books!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you like sexy RomCom’s then you should always pick up Max Monroe books!

Oh Ollie, I knew there was more to you than what we got to see through Lucky’s eyes! I never fell for you being the biggest jerk in all the world. You’re my boy Ollie and you can call me Little Fire whenever you want! Or you know, just call me. #TeamOllie all the way.

The Day the Jerk Started Falling gave me everything I wanted in the conclusion to Lucky and Ollie’s love story. I loved getting Ollie’s side of things. Hearing how he fell for Lucky in his own words was just so perfect. He’s seriously the sweetest and the swooniest, and he’s kind of giving Thatch a run for his money as my favorite M&M hero. But for God’s sake don’t let Thatch know that, I don’t want anyone getting all up in their feelings!

While I did enjoy getting to see certain things that had happened through Ollie’s pov in his podcast, I almost wish his story jumped to present day a little sooner. I just wanted them to get together so badly! I loved when they finally reconnected, and all that transpired to get them to that point. And all that came after! It was all so cute and fun and swoony, and just made me feel all squishy inside!

I really got a kick out of the way these books were told in podcast format. It was something fresh and unique and now I kind of want to find some podcasts to follow!

Oh Ollie...Ollie Ollie Ollie. I wanna do a podcast for my love of you too...full review to follow

It was no secret that book one started a little slow for me but by 30% I was all in and by the end of book one I was salivating for the next one...so much so I emailed the PR company in hopes they would feel my angsty heart and send relief QUICK. So when I got a response saying the arc would be on kindle later in the day I was refreshing like a mad man awaiting Ollie and his whole side of the story. I was convinced I knew the what and why's of the story (spoiler alert I was right...eeeekkkkk) but the telling through Ollie's eyes was enlightening, fun, and had me from podcast one. And of course the was the hilarity that comes with reading Max Monroe, the shenanigans, and heart...lots and lots of heart. This was a fun-filled romp of feelings and findings that I enjoyed more every page. Jerks come and go, they fall, they explain, crawl and capture the heart...Ollie did it all and more. I lurve him...Until next time Max & Monroe. Thank you...

I'm not a fun of the same story from two different point of views but this duet was amazing. I loved Ollie and Lucky's story. The podcasts were original, hilarious and so enjoyable. Max Monroe took us in a raw journey where two different people poured their hearts and exposed their feelings to the whoke workd to see.

***5 ‘Join Me In The Imperfect’ Stars***

That was just what the doctor ordered!

Seriously the swoons, and the eye rolling (need to be absolutely honest here), were real as we got Ollie’s POV on all that went down and then some. And let me tell you, the “and then some” was awesome and had my heart all kinds of twitterpatted throughout the book.

I’m going to keep this review on the short and sweet side because everything I said in my review of The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks applies here. What I will add on to that is the fact that while Ollie is still a jerk, I fell harder for the man as he laid everything out there. He did certain things he probably shouldn’t have, but everything he did ended up taking him one step closer to where he was always meant to be.

As for Ollie and Lucky’s HEA? Let’s just say everything that they went through would only happen to them and exactly how it was alway meant to be *BSEG*

This was a great duet overall and I loved how the authors chose to tell Lucky and Ollie’s story because it truly gave me all the feels - the good, the bad and the ugly - thankfully there was a lot more good than anything else. The downside (not really though) to this is that I now need to get my hands on the other books by the authors and make to read them all...hopefully I’ll work it out. But outside of all that the only thing left for me to say is that I really, really, REALLY hope Jordy gets his own HEA in future because he really deserves it!

I received an ARC of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review.

This is book two in the Jerk duet and it is definitely necessary to have read book one first. Book one left us with a bit of a cliffy and it was all in *her* POV...this one starts in Ollie's POV, and while originally it was okay-I did have a bit of a disconnect as it seemed some of his Aussie slang was overly redundant, maybe that was the point...I don't know. And there was a fair amount of retelling of the previous book from his POV as well....which worked, but I would have liked eleventy billion more pages about the *now*, you know?

Max Monroe are a writing team superhero duo themselves. This duet they've penned is equally impressive, the style and flare is just so individualized and current. I sat down and picked up my kindle and looked up several bleary-eyed hours later to a finished novel...it's just that easy to lose yourself in their world. Thank you, to Max and Monroe...yet again, for the opportunity to review for you. 4 stars.

I am not a fan of reading a retelling of the story I've already read, just with different POV. If it's done it must contain loads of new information and only a bit of the old news.
I bet every single one of you were able to deduce what happened on Ollie's part in the first book because 95 % of it were just bumps and twists very well-known to romance readers. So when it was basically a repeat of all that happened between them with a smudge of new information, I just bid my time and waited for the good part called "The Present" to start.
And there it was. But I wasn't impressed. It was disheartening. I didn't like the couple was so popular with press and their meet was so publicly known. *sigh* I wanted them to be like in the first book—not instantly recognizable, so they could fix thing up between them privately and then share them with the podcast world.
Maybe only wishful thinking on my part. I know, I know.
But then I got to thinking about what was happening... Why Paris? Why Lucky had to go to Ollie when she was supposed to fly to [insert the name of the place because it was so not important to the story I instantly forgot it and I am too lazy to look it up right now]? Because it was the city of love? Because if they made up somewhere else, it wouldn't have had the same feels? Because he couldn't fly out to where she was going in case she didn't hear the podcast in time? I am really asking, so please, help me out to understand this...
Then the 'Lucky on the plane' scene came and damn, I almost cried out of desperation that my now almost ancient issue with Max Monroe had to appear in this duet as well. They probably felt the story wasn't funny enough. So what? So what if she just had to call him and say all those boring explanations like "didn't hear it in time", "couldn't get out of my work assignment". So fraking what? Is that not real enough?
Probably not.
As I was writing down the notes for the book, I realized almost all of them were about chapter 7, so I'm going to put it under spoiler because I'm not ready to sort out the timeline in my mess of thoughts right now and you can read it if you want. Just remember, you've been warned.

My Chapter Seven Melt-down

After that, the rest of book was quickly put behind me. Chapters eight and nine were just accompanied by my resigned eye-roll. And I flew through the final chapter and two bonus scenes... Bye, bye, birdie!

To sum it all up: My expectations were raised so high by book one that reading The Day the Jerk Started Falling felt like falling flat on my face and boobs. It hurt a lot for a long, long... really long time.

While the first installment had built up an anticipation, this one for me entirely failed in keeping it up or giving the anticipation a proper execution point.

The writing here felt a bit immature and the narration style through podcast in the first book seemed refreshing, in this book I wanted more of an actual interaction. Too much time was spent by the characters going over things in their heads.

Additionally, there were certain moments which were stretched beyond what was required when a sweet and simple delivery of the moment would have been more perfect.

This is not to say that the book was bad. It had its moments but it couldn't live up to what it promised.

I was eagerly anticipating read the second book in this duet from Oliver (Ollie) Arsen’s point of view. If for whatever reason you have not read book one,Luciana (Lucky) Wright’s point of view,The Day I stopped Falling For Jerks, stop right now. I highly recommend you read it first otherwise you will not get the most out of reading The Day The Jerk Started Falling.

Ollie was everything I hoped he would be and oh so much more. Max Monroe had my emotions in a twist, there were times I was crying, times I was laughing but through it all I knew that these two books were something special.Telling the story from a podcast point of view is in my opinion unique. I will say that even though I thought I knew where this story was going to lead, I hadn’t counted on the sheer genius of Max Monroe. They had my head spinning and I was riveted from the first to the last chapter.
Max Monroe tied up all the loose ends and were able to surprise me, which is always a great things when reading.
Ollie is one of those book boyfriends who reels you in and honestly he made me swoon. It was wonderful to see a self confessed ladies man fall for a totally unexpected woman and Lucky, she deserved to get Lucky.
Lucky wanted the truth and she certainly got it, but at what cost? Will Lucky come around and give Ollie a second chance? When Ollie explained everything and bared his soul it was beautiful, even though he really could be a real jerk, he showed his caring and vulnerability and that just made me fall for his more. Never have I wanted a happily ever after more than I did for Ollie and Lucky.
Being Australian it was kind of fun to see how the Aussie would come across in the story and I was pleasantly surprised. I really hope that this duet is released in audio as I think it will be fantastic to listen too.

I fell. I lie down and laugh like a maniac. I need such books in the gloomy autumn evenings!

The Day the Jerk Started Falling is not just the conclusion of the first part of the duet. It’s also partly Ollie’s point of view.

The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks ended with a broken heart and, as it turns out, a total misunderstanding. So what does a man in love have to do to fix mistakes and regain his love? Well, expect a lot of explanation and groveling ... ;)

Ollie drags heavy cannons releasing his own podcast in which he presents the course of his and Lucky's acquaintance from his own perspective. And believe me - reading his story tinged with an Australian accent and filled with humor was A-MA-ZING! But there were also moments in which I was shaking my head disapprovingly at the stunts our Australian was pulling. After Oliver's explanation, we can come to one conclusion - they were both guilty that the situation has gained such a turnover. And you could easily avoid it if:

1. Ollie was 100% honest with Lucky.
2. Lucky was not afraid of confrontation and explained everything with Ollie, instead of running away like a coward.

Buuuut ... Perhaps it's better that this story took such a turnover. Thanks to that we got to know the sensitive side of Ollie. We also saw what desperation leads to. And let's be honest - each of us dreams of grand, romantic, swoon-worthy gestures that evidence the strength of our beloved's feelings for us ;) And Ollie won a medal on this topic! Although the circumstances were not too favorable ...

Read this duo! Check for yourself how wrong the first impression may be, how little confusion can be mixed up and how far you can go to be good in love. Both books in this series are a powerful dose of humor and moments that melt the heart. Max Monroe once again proved that they are queens of rom-coms!

This is the side of the story we didn't get in the first book. This is Ollie's chance to speak his truth.
And boy does he speak his truth in a no holding back kind of way. He lays it all out there and makes you see him.
And not like that, you pervs.

You get to see how Ollie's mind works, you get to see this love story unfold from his pov, you get the moment he fell.
Which makes sense, given the title.

But it's those inside secrets, those little things he did, the behind the scenes manipulations just to be near Lucky that'll have you swooning.

And his story is a good one, ladies and gents. He'll leave you rushing through an airport, finding a rental car, and speeding through lands unknown just for a chance to be with him. Just for a chance to explore the love you know you feel. Just for a chance to be more than the story of boyfriends past.

The Day the Jerk Started Falling is everything you want in a male POV. The good, the bad, the ugly. It's all there.
And you're only going to fall for Ollie just a bit harder than you did before.

4.5 stars!

I couldn’t wait for the jerk to tell us how he fell in love and it was definitely worth the journey!

This duet was just a delightful journey filled with so much laugher, sexiness and fun. I had an amazing time following Lucky the hopeless romantic with her sassy banter and Ollie, the cutest and sweetest jerk I’ve ever met. There’s always two side in a story, and after Lucky’s, be ready to read Oliver’s and oh my… I was melting and laughing so hard at the same time.

I was expecting to read about a POV without filters, baring his soul to his readers, explaining how he fell in love and how his actions doomed their relationship from the start. And it was. That guy was desperate to get a woman’s attention when he wasn’t used to it, and I adored reading his side, to see him work for it. Everything’s fair in love and war, isn’t it? Well Oliver was going to learn it the hard way and having his heart crushed in the process.

I’ve always been interested to read a male’s POV but I have to say that I’m very wary when it comes to a duet because there’s always the risk of something repetitive. And when I started reading it, I was like having a new perspective, and even things that happened in the first book, it was so refreshing and terribly addictive. This approach was pretty smart and once gain really creative.

Ollie totally won me over, throughout his story about how he finally found the one when he wasn’t expecting it, with his honesty, sarcastic humour, told somehow with such tenderness and communicative cheerfulness. How not to fall in love with a man who could recognized his past mistakes, who would fight for it?

Trust me, he was far from perfect. Impulsive, driven at times by his jealousy to take down all the possible competition down, and mostly so confident, afraid to make Lucky ran away, knowing how bad her last relationships ended. But damn, I already felt as well...

I couldn’t wait for the jerk to tell us how he fell in love and it was definitely worth the journey!

Oh my gosh, I just fell in love with the Jerk. 100% fell hard for him.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

After reading the first book in the #Jerk series I KNEW I just HAD to read Ollie’s book, to have Ollie’s side of the story. I NEEDED to see what he was like, what he was feeling and experienced and damn, I sure did feel everything. This guy, sweet baby Jesus he’s unlike no other.

*sighs* it’s crazy how much one can fall so damn hard for a fictional character but fuck sake, when you read the book you’ll understand why. He’s so damn passionate about Lucky and isn’t afraid to show it. He’s the player, the guy that can get any girl he wants and does in fact do so until he meets the girl that makes his heart beat at a different pace, that makes him want her and only her.

Reading about Ollie expressing his feeling’s through his podcast is damn near heart melting. The things he says about Lucky, to her even is so beautiful and sometimes dirty because he’s a man, duh. But it’s incredible. To have a man think and say things like that about you is in fact swoon worthy and I envy every single woman that has a man like Ollie, he’s perfection even with his flaws, they make him even more perfect

I can’t express enough just how much I loved this book, how much I loved Ollie and Lucky and their relationship and everything else surrounding it.

This series captured my heart from the get go but The Day The Jerk Started Falling just did it for me, it ticked all the damn boxes and had my heart beating wildly in my chest. I was rooting for these two, they belong together, they deserve their happy ever after.

Max Monroe did an outstanding job with this series, I haven’t been this captivated by a series in a while and I’m glad I was able to read them. I feel a book hangover coming on and I’ll welcome it because I just want to sit here in revel in the amazingness that is Ollie and Lucky. This book deserves way more stars than just 5! It deserves all the stars.

Thank goodness Max Monroe didn't keep us waiting for Ollie's side of the story. The Day the Jerk Started Falling is a stunning delve into the player reforms when he meets THE ONE trope. Although there is nothing trite about Oliver Arsen 💖

The beginning of the story follows the same format as The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks with the intimate connection via podcast transcripts. Ollie recounts all of the events told by Lucky from his perspective while giving background detail to the questions we all had lingering in the back of our minds from the implosion that necessitated the podcasts. We are all aware there are two sides to every story but how often are we able to take a step back and truly consider the other side when it is our own story. This is the situation portrayed within the narrative of The Day the Jerk Started Falling.

Ollie's character development and subsequent romanticism inspired by Lucky were truly awe-inspiring. I loved how open he was even when it didn't portray him in the best of lights, and I completely adored his positive mindset regarding everything that had led to his current predicament - learning to accept the journey as well as the outcome 💕 As a consequence of Ollie's altered outlook, his positivity has a knock on effect with his other relationship both familial and friendships bringing him closer to the people in his life.

The second half of the book concentrates on the ongoing situation between Ollie and Lucky and whether they can reach a resolution following the outpouring of their hearts over the podcasts. Will Unlucky Lucky finally catch a break and find her true happiness? Will Ollie get to make his grand gesture? What does karma have in store for our star-crossed lovers? In this case, I have to say karma has a warped sense of humour 😉😂 You need to read it to find out how it all comes together - it will be worth it xx

Now I really do need to know if Jordy is getting his own story?????

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Ollie (37). 4 time surfing champ who now owns his own surf business. Luciana (aka Lucky) (27). Journalist. Book 2 of 2. Told from the perspective of the hero doing a “groveling” podcast. Slow burn. HEA.

This book focuses on the podcast from Ollie’s POV. Ollie has a little bit of explaining to do and he does a great job of bringing the listener his POV. Because Ollie has to explain his actions from book 1, the first portion of the book is a retelling of their interactions from his side. So, no new current interactions until around 55%.

In the “current” interactions, they aren’t in the same location and the reader doesn’t actually see them interact in the present until 80%. So, from my perspective it was really hard to feel the chemistry between them as I just didn’t get enough of them together. By the time I hit the bedroom scene at 90%, I didn’t really feel any sizzle between the characters.

I liked this book a little bit better than the first book, but only because I really liked Ollie and his laid back, easy going ways.

Overall, I liked the originality of a podcast POV, but there was something missing in the execution. And because most of this duet is told from the outside looking in, I didn’t feel a connection to the characters as a reader and didn’t feel chemistry between the H/h.

Swoon! That's what I did while reading Ollie's POV. Yes, he was a jerk in The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks, is still a jerk, BUT...he's an adorable jerk once he put his heart on the line and bared his feelings in his own set of podcasts. I admit I didn't much like him in Lucky's POV, but he most definitely redeemed himself here when telling things from his own point of view. I just wish Lucky had heard his side of things much earlier. But, if she had, then the LOL funny moments as she tried to get her ass to Paris wouldn't have happened, and I wouldn't have been giggling like I was while reading.

So I'll make this review short and sweet and just say that Lucky and Ollie are such an adorable couple and I love Max Monroe's take on the jerk finally finding his lucky lady. I'll never look at surfers quite the same!

Book 1- follows Lucky and her point of view throughout the book. She is sent on assignment, to travel to Surfing Competitions across the world and write articles. The issue, she knows nothing about sports, including surfing. Her best friend’s brother, Ollie, was a pro surfer and now he gets to play tour guide to Lucky. They don’t exactly get off to a great start but that leads to some great banter.

Book 2- follows Ollie and his point of view. From the beginning, which was a bit rough, through the good times, and then the pivotal moments. He relates back to some of those moments before the book goes to the present. At that point, it is dual pov. I don’t want to ruin anything so it’s a little difficult to explain further.

Loved the concept of this book. Lots of banter and chemistry between Ollie and Lucky. Highly entertaining and kept me glued to the book from start to finish.

Wow. I read the first part of the duet and I was (im)patiently waiting on the conclusion. And you guys, Max Monroe delivered. They delivered hard and Ollie Arsen, that “swoon-worthy bastard” as Max Monroe eloquently defines him probably tops my list of book boyfriends. I mean seriously, a hot surfer with a heart of gold who willingly aired his truth for the world to see. He is everything.
