Born and raised near Pacific Grove in California, where only about 15000 souls live, Hollie found her passion in writing since she was just nine. She would write odd short stories about fantastic beings or plays she would enact with her friends, where she was always captured by some sort of beast. In these stories, there was no Prince Charming, only dragons and werewolves that were both scary and fascinating.

As she grew older she dwelled into more adult topics. She learned about the fun and fire of steamy romance novels, where the peculiar traits of her favorite characters made them dangerously alluring, physically and psychologically. Today these characters are like people inside her head. They that won't leave her alone until she gives them life. And even though she is the only one writing, Fifty* is always there to assist with inspiration.

*Mom's girl. Probably the brattiest chihuahua ever.

Lots of twists & turns on the road to their HEA - Standalone, no cliffhangers

For adults only (18+ years) Contains subject matter that may be a trigger, of offensive, to some readers. This includes adult language, steamy detailed adult intimate scenes, and violence (kidnapping / abduction, fighting, slavery, etc.). If any of these situations are a trigger, of offensive to you, then this may not be the story for you.

I always like the stories by Hollie Hutchins. Even though she might write a lot about abducted females that are sold, shifters, aliens, etc., there is always a message contained within her stories that seem to corrolate to something in real life. Such as this story that has a message woven through it about looking beyond the surface (outer looks and differences) and get to know the person (or dragon :)) before allowing prejudices to influence opinion. That being said there are some grammatical issues (Please get a proof reader) and a few holes as she tries to set and/or continue the story without making it too slow, such as what happened after Ria was purchased by Collector Hargoid but before she arrived at the Royal Palace of the Dragon King. It may seem small but sometimes these are the details that makes the story come alive for the reader.

Here is a high level overview of how the story begins:

Ria Gallagher is the Lieutenant Astronaut of Mars Mission Alpha Zero that is to be the first mission to Mars to establish the first human colony. Unexpectedly her ship in sucked into a wormhole. Ria sent out alert beacons, but not sure if they would reach through the wormhole and make it back to earth. They are captured by aliens and Ria wakes up with language chips implanted into her head. Ria thought they were going to kill or experiment on her like all of those wild "captured by alien" stories featured on the front of the tabloids at home. Wasn't expecting to suddenly understand what they were saying. Not sure what happened to her crew, but she knew she needed to go along with whatever they wanted until she could escape or be rescued.

Ria and others were brought to a large market, almost like an expo center with lots of vendor stalls. They are brought to one with other captive slaves from all different types of species. It isn't long until a large 3-eyed, pasty faced alien came to the stall and inspected Ria. He wanted to purchase her and several others, but only after they had an upgrade on their implanted chips, as they were to be potential gifts to the Dragon King. This is the last thing that Ria wanted, as the Dragon King would have increased security that would make it nearly impossible for her to escape.

When the five slaves arrived at the Royal Palace, the Dragon King told Collector Hargoid that he was busy, but finally relented when Hargoid explained that he had brought the five beautiful and exotic specimens for him to choose one for his harem. Ria, who would have rather died fighting the aliens than join the King's harem, was the lucky one chosen from this rather weird beauty pageant. Figures that her luck would run out ...

Then a male lizard like being with vaguely humanoid features led Ria to an entrance that could have been Utopia. It was filled with exotic flowers and scents with a pool and a couple of guards that looked like bear-men with long steel claws reminiscent of the famous comic book character on Earth. Then she is told by a female version of the guards to come with her where Ria is stripped, scrubbed, and prepared to meet the King.

Ria, or #B5279, was summoned to the King and it went different than she expected, as she fully expected that she would have to sleep with him. Then she enters and he asks her if she has any experience with public diplomacy. Ria told him yes and then he dismissed her letting her know to be prepared as they had a lot of work to do the next day. Ria is so relieved that she doesn't know what to say or do, maybe that is why he showed no interest in her at Hargoid's little presentation. The relief she felt must have loosed her tongue too much as she thanks him, explains she had misunderstood what her purpose was to be in his household, and she thought she was gonna have to be part of his harem ... without batting an eye lash, the King tells her that is also part of her duties. When Ria questions whether or not that is even possible since they are different species, the King splits his robe in two and shows her it is indeed possible.

I am going to stop there so I don't accidentally provide any spoilers or twists.

Through A Wormhole, Darkly💫

Ria💃💋 is a NASA astronaut on a mission to Mars when their spaceship🚀 is sucked through a wormhole. She is a human, a species never seen in this part of the galaxy.

She is captured and gifted to be a concubine💃💋 of Xagrun🐲🍆🌋, the Dragon🐉King👑, the ruler of the Hautian Solar System.
When the 👑King, a Dragon🐲 Shifter, talks to Ria💃💋, he realizes she is very smart, and he makes her his ambassador, and his concubine.

Ria💃💋 just begins to fall in love with Xagrun🐲🍆🌋, when she finds out he is to be in an arranged marriage to a royal female from another planet because they must keep the 🐉dragon bloodlines "pure".

ARC Received from Booksprout.
I also got the book📑 with KU.

Very interesting and well written Alpha Alien🐲🍆🌋 Male Romance. Hollie's books always feature very smart, beautiful, heroines, and Ria💃💋 is no exception!

I received this book as a free advanced read and I am going to give my honest opinions of this book.

I have to say that Hollie had such a different perspective of writing the alien captive stories. I love how she thinks.

Ria Gallager is on a mission to when the ship that she was in was hit by a solar flair causing their navigation to place them off course and straight into an unknown worm hole. It wasn’t long before they were captured and each one was taken as and sold. She found herself going with two other aliens to the Dragon King Xagrun. Where he chose her and she was taken away.
Later she learns that she is not only now a part of his harem that she is also his new diplomat for some unknown area to her after she witnesses the last one being executed for embezzlement. The being part of the harem was not such a great thing. The King was not at all affectionate and took what he wanted and then sent them away. It is a humiliating situation.

The she is called with the King to go to the planet Hunt because the Princess there has been selected to be his wife that they were a perfect genetic match. The Onoatiga were the ones that were putting this together and to Ria it seemed as they were the puppeteers pulling all of the stings for some reason she didn’t trust them. This was also the time that the King announced to Ria that he had no idea how to woo the Princess so sine she was his mouth piece she would be doing that for him.

When she first entered the palace it was so white and sterile she had already formed an idea about Princess Venna but she was so wrong about her. Ria did her best to be the representative for the King but she just didn’t feel like that she would be a good match for the Princess. There are so many things that happen in this story including her saving the Princess’s life. This is a book that you really need to read there is so much in each sentence that brings such life to the story and how Ria is soon fighting her own feelings for the King and how she became involved in teaching him on how to woo a woman. This is such a great story.

Nice story minus the superiority complex

This novel reminds me why we as humans should never be blessed enough to meet another species. If we ever came across a system that was technologically superior to us we would forever harp on how awesome it is on our planet. We have such a colonizing mentality always trying to change everyone to suit our limited notions of how things should work. I'm not sure if the author is aware that arranged marriages are not an "ignored" relic but are practiced among a significant portion of the world. Choosing people for love hasn't exactly been a successful notion either, and the human race isn't exactly one that should be emulated in all its war prone, hatred filled, and destructive tendencies, despite which many of us manage to thrive to some degree.
Otherwise, very sweet novel with sympathetic characters and an interesting plot twist.

This is definitely one of my favorite books by Hollie Hutchins in terms of characters, emotion, and plain old entertainment for a sci-fi story about shape shifting aliens in their galaxy and the rollercoaster ride of emotions for the earthling woman as she goes through her various struggles to adapt and to escape. But, this was also a tremendously sensitive and endearing love story as well with both parties going through a myriad of emotional changes. And, what really surprised me about this book, there was very little physical description of any sex acts, instead, the book simply let the reader see and understand the sensual rather than physical side of any couplings. Really held my interest!

This was a great story. I found myself being pulled into a fascinating new world. Different species, new galaxies, I thought it was very creative. I liked this King, even though he was very dense at times when it came to romance. Female lead was just wonderful. Smart, clever, brave, funny, ironic.
The heroine is kidnapped by aliens, enslaved, given to the dragon king as a gift/concubine. The king also appoints her as an ambassador who is to oversee and negotiate his wedding to a suitable dragon princess. A lot going on. And it all flows very nicely. There were also some freaky aspects that went well with the story. I look forward to trying other books from the author now.

Fight to Survive

Excellent read. The plot was very interesting. Loved the descriptions of all the different ranking employees as well as staff to the king. The attitude of the king and his duty to his concubine's, amazing how his view changed when he actually came into contact with Ria. The role of a woman at his side who brings the best out in him. The confidence of their partnership in the ruling of his kingdom and his partner in life. Loved how the whole plot came all together in the end with the adoptive royal sister and her new status as queen. Your descriptions of all is so well written that I could picture it all. Well done.

Ria, an astronaut is abucted by a wormhole on her mission to Mars to a completely different solar system called Hautian, were she is Gifted to the Dragon King, Xagrun. Impressed by her talent and intelligence he makes her as his concubine, but when they fall in love and he is in a way to a arranged marriage with another royal. Whether he follows his heart or the custom that could keep his blood line pure is the remaining story. As every other book Hollie has surprised me with this book too. An amazing plot, well written and I loved it.

For some reason I couldn't fall into the book. All the pieces were in place: strong characters and great story idea. The science is a bit wonky and could have used a way of stepping beyond what we have now because earth is settling Mars. We have a female astronaut who would have to be brilliant off the charts that doesn't really get explored and we have an alien society that really wasn't thought out.
Not graphic enough to even say 18+ for readers.
I don't want to out right say I don't like the book because all the elements of an amazing story are present but definitely not fully developed.

Gifted to the King. This book was interesting. Ria is thrown off course in their spaceship that sends her into a world she knows nothing about. Once in this new world she has to survive and find a way home. But life takes a turn when Ria tries to help the king woo a Princess bound for an arranged marriage. Ria realizes she has feelings for the King and she might not want to go home. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

Ms. Hutchins has a talent for world building and adventurous plots. When astronaut Ria finds herself taken by a slaver alien, survival instincts kick in. Falling back on her training, she plays the roll of a demure captive as she gathers information and does what's necessary to survive.

I enjoyed her pluck and watching her rise to the occasion as she's gifted to the Dragon King, a shapeshifting monarch.

There relationship has an odd pace . I think I wanted more interacction ans growth. Still , an enjoyable fast read.

suspenseful and a page turner. Hot dragons oh my!

Very suspenseful and a page turner for sure. Such strong characters. I could not put this book set down. I was skeptical at first and worried I may not like it, but this book so changed my mind as soon as I started reading. Who knew dragons and galaxies could be so hot and sexy? This book and the set has all the feels! This is a must read! Absolutely recommend.

I really had no idea what to expect. In the beginning you can tell she is one smart woman. But the king was just so aloft about her. But as the story goes the way she handles him and everyone is just perfect. She’s not manipulating anyone, she really does care. I highly suggest for anyone that loves romance with some sci-fi aliens.

I enjoyed this book more than words can say, and it is on my favorites of all time! Why? Because the author knows how to tell a story and leave you wanting for the book to never end! Such vivid details about the characters and the surroundings in the book, bring it to life and place you in the midst of the book! A very solid 5 with some of the best writing I have ever seen! I can't wait to read more of this author's books! This book does not disappoint!

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

I have read many of Hollie's stories and have always enjoyed them. This one is no exception. This story was Gr8. it's just the "umph" I needed. I look forward to reading Hollie's short stories, because they always give me that little bit of "UMPH" between the longer stories I read.

I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

Really Great Story

I’m not one for sci-fi and romance but this is well written and well put together. I couldn’t put it down and I liked how it JD an array of characters far and wide.

The king is amazing! Rough around the edges but a softy when he reveals that side of him but honor and loyalty come first to his people.

A different take on a fairytale....

A very sweet tale and a bit different than a traditional fairytale. I never read Hollies Hutchins before but I was happy I took the chance to read "Gifted to the Dragon King". If you like fairytales for grownups and a HEA ending; then this is the book for you!

A STORY TO LOVE AND GET CONSUMED

Learning a lot about racism, different cultures and customs was the highlight that kept me going while reading this book. Xagrun and Ria set an example of how men should treat women and express their feelings.

Okay Book

This was an alright read for me. It just seems unrealistic even with me using my wild imagination. I do like the fact on how King Xagrun allowed Ria to teach him how to love.

Meh

Storyline felt rushed. No steamy scenes with the Dragon King. The MC was so flat personality wise. Was just meh for me. Skimmed last half instead of reading through. Just didn't keep my attention

Good Story

Ria sparkles in this romantic tale with her Dragon King. Fun reading with the added twists and turns. Character development shows throughout as Ria meets various species through the castle. Could be a promising start to a series.
