"I wish I had this book when I started producing, it provides a great insight into the fundamentals of sound design and beyond." - Seven (Uprise Audio)
Synthesizers can be challenging.
If you're struggling to recreate a sound you've heard, or you wish to step beyond presets and online tutorials, How To Program Any Synthesizer will help you.
By breaking down each element of synthesizer programming into easy steps and showing you how to build your own, signature sounds from scratch, this book will provide you with a systematic understanding of how all synthesizers work.
Whether you’re creating a funky lead on a Minimoog or a huge bassline on Massive, How To Program Any Synthesizer will teach you the method behind the magic.
You’ll be creating the sounds of your dreams in no time!
How to program any synthesizer is a bit of a misnomer as a title, the basics of synthesizer programming would make for a much better title imo. Just look at Caustic's own 8bit equation solver synthesizer after finishing the book :p The book makes use of (the free all-platform including mobile (semi-free if you want to use MIDI on mobile though) softsynth DAW) Caustic's SubSynth to guide you into little sound synthesis experiments explaining step by step how to create different synthesizer sounds patching the subtractive synthesizer and adding effects on the audio. Don't expect anything beyond the all-important basics, or the fundamentals but the explanations are clear and the exercises are fun.
