The story is all about Mira ,an 18-year-old college girl. She lives with her parents Mr. Rajiv Kapur and Mrs. Nandini Kapur and a younger sister Aashi in Mumbai.
Another important character of the story is Rahul Singh Kalra, son of Mr.Gurmeet Singh Kalra and Kavita Lokhande. Rahul used to live in Mumbai while his parents live in Pune.
The story is all about there love.
How they meet with each other and love begins between them.
Curiosity stats peaking as story proceeds and make you feel like time flies.
You may expect a longer read at end.
The total story is described in 19 chapters with approximately 144 pages.
Overall it was a beautiful read.
A must-read for anyone who wants to read a simple yet beautiful story.
I liked the narration and detailings of the scene portrayed.

One Precious Moment by Author Ritu Kakar is a beautiful love story of Mira and Rahul. They fell in love with each other during Mira's college days and decided to tie a knot after getting approval from their respective families. Mira was an an impulsive girl while Rahul proved to be a more wise partner. They had their share of arguments but I loved how Rahul managed every issue in their relationship with understanding, utmost care and maturity. There is so much to learn from their way of handling and nurturing relationships. When Mira was living her dream life by sharing thousands precious moments with her love, time shattered her dreams into a thousand pieces. To know what happens in this Mira's fairytale life, you will have to read this book.
After Mira's life is broken into a thousand pieces, she stood strong and rebuilt her life with strong will power and positive attitude in life. The central message of this story is no matter what happens in your life, bad or worst, one must always choose to re-build their lives with whatever they are left with. I found this story truly inspiring and there are many lessons to learn from this book which will help us in our lives.
This book is highly gripping and I finished it one go. Its fast paced and the flow of the book actually served the content quite well. The title of the book is apt and the cover image goes well with the storyline.

The story follows 29 year old Mira Singh. Her life was not the same after her husband Rahul Singh passed away in freak accident. Three years have passed and she is yet to come in terms with this tragedy but slowly she's getting there with the help of both her supportive families.
The whole story is about Mira reminiscing all her fond memories, happy and lovely time that she spend with Rahul. Their marriage was not always rainbows , there were times when they strongly disagree on several debates and at times they didn't communicate for days but it's just like any other normal married couple but deep down they always knew that they can count on each other and no matter what their love would eventually win them over.
One precious moment was a good book. I am glad the way how the story started at the beginning. The author delved a huge chunk of this book in writing the past events which is in my opinion was important to understand the characters better. The writing style was lucid. A sad but engrossing book, I completed this book in a single sitting. A well written plot with a cast of likable characters.
Sometimes when a tragedy strikes, we feel that the whole world is ending because that person is.....was our whole world but understand this that eventually with time and support of the loved ones we tackle anything. No stumbling block would be massive enough than the power of love and understanding.

This is the second book I read by the same author and I liked it better than the first one. The storyline is drastically different and beautifully written.
This is the story of Mira Kapur, an impulsive and strong headed girl and Rahul Singh, a career oriented, mature and possessive boy. They both fall in love when they see each for the first time on the Mumbai local train and continue their silent correspondence for a couple of months. Then, an incident makes them confess their love for each other and from then onwards there's no turning back. They become everything for each other. Eventually, they get married and settle in their respective jobs.
Where Mira is immature, Rahul is mature, where Mira is impulsive, Rahul is thoughtful. They complete each other in an amazing way.
But, as they say, nothing lasts forever. Nothing is perfect. An event occurs which shakes the very core of their life.
What happens next? How does Mira cope from this loss? Read this book to know!

It's one of the most amazing book I have ever read full of love, emotions, motivation and suspense.
It's about a girl named Mira. She is a young college girl full of dreams and ambitions.
Once Mira met a guy named Rahul and on the very first meeting both of them started developing feelings for each other.
Then, somehow they met each other again and again. And atlast they fall in love with each other.
Soon, they got married and started living a very happy life.
Everything was going good their relationship, their careers, everything. But then twist comes when Rahul dies in an accident.
Mira becomes completely shocked with this incident. Her whole life is shattered and it breakes her completely.
And even after a long time she finds herself in those beautiful memories of her with Rahul.
But now she has to accept the truth. To move forward in her life.

“One Precious Moment” written by Ritu Kakar is a perfect start for a person who is looking forward to start reading. This book is written in simple language which is easy for anybody to understand. The plot is predictive. The first few chapters which tell about the love story of Mira and Rahul sounds silly and unrealistic. The way Rahul cares for Mira during her college days are so genuine. Finally with their parents blessing they get married. They way author narrated their love, care and affection for each other makes the reader to fall in love. A lot happens after their wedding- shifting to Delhi, developing new friends and neighbors like family and shifting back to Mumbai. Author gave an impressive style of writing on romance, how the couple plans for their family and future. Unexpected things turn out and life changes. Logical climax makes the reader satisfied. Overall, “One Precious Moment” is a good romantic story and worth the penny and time.

The book is a beautiful romantic fiction which explains how some moments can be precious and can be cherished for life. ❤️ The plot is quite simple with a predictable storyline but has a different climax, it begins with Mira narrating her story in flashback in which she meets Rahul and how love blossoms between both of them, and how freaking accident turned her world upside down.
The whole story is about Mira reminiscing all her fond memories, happy time that she spend with Rahul. Their marriage was not always rainbows, there were times when they strongly disagree on several debates and at times they didn't communicate for days but it's like any other normal married couple but deep down they always knew that they can count on each other and love would eventually win them over.

It’s a pageturner. The author described each and every emotion wonderfully. I loved Mira’s character the most. Her ability to rebuild her life on her own terms, The way she handled each and every situation is commendable.
The pace of the story is good. The flow of the story is smooth. The dialogues and the drama keep the reader Invested in. The strong characters add credibility to the story. Each character had a vital role. I loved how the author developed each and every character.
Themes like Love, friendship, relationship, Loss are used by the author in an amazing way. The Language used by the author is simple and apt. The writing style of the author is appealing. She described each and every event in an engaging way, making the reader curious to know what happens next.

The protagonists of the story is Mira and Rahul. The book belongs to romance genre. Aa it belongs to romance genre, the story is woven around their love, relationship, hardships etc. Mira fell in love with Rahul during college. The plot of the story is more or less routine love story but still it’s beautiful. I rarely like books based on romance genre but I really liked this one because of the writing style of the author. The author has described all those little beautiful moments of the love and relationships has been described too perfectly. Like the first time Mira came to know about physical relationships and sexuality etc. Like every love story’s fate, their love story also have to run a course like first meeting, deepening their bond, fight and breakup etc. I could feel the emotions while reading that grumpy feeling when your loved one is away or had fight or the break up. Read the book to unfold further plot.
If we see generally, as I said above, I liked the plot. It’s simple yet beautiful. I like the writing style of the author. It’s like I could feel all the emotions and described scenes around me. Certain moments made me emotional. The book is written in simple and easily understandable language so that everyone can enjoy reading it. Overall good one. It’s a light read. Can be finished reading in a day or two. A must read for romance lovers.

What starts as a cute love story between Mira and Rahul soon transforms. Ask anyone who's had an accident, or has lost someone about the value of a moment,. everyone will come up with a story of their own.
While their love story seems too good to be true in the beginning, we soon start to get invested in their characters midway through. And boom, everything changes in a moment.
Somehow I still felt the importance given to Aashi, Mira's sister could have been extended to the rest of the family members because I've always been a person interested to not just read about the "lead" characters but everyone around them too.
Mira's independent woman image is definitely inspiring yet the cliché of getting dependent on one man after the other was a little bit disappointing since her character sketch was shown as a feminist one right from the beginning.
Everyone's coping mechanism differs and that is explained pretty well through this book. No matter what, we all never know whats going to happen next so its always better to live in the moment is explained well by the author...
Some spelling mistakes were a turn off but I'm not sure if it's because of the kindle edition.

The title of the book explains the story in such a fantastic manner.
The story follows our protagonist Mira. Mira is a normal girl, with a life which is anything, but normal.
This book is a love story, but not the cheesy kind. Mira has a tough life. She goes through a lot, but builds herself each time. She accepts things and mould it according to her situations. She is brave at heart and strong at mind.
We follow a sweet love story between Mira and Rahul. Their story will soften your heart and spark a feeling. The story has many twists and turns. This keeps the story interesting and gripping. It is not a predictable story. It just hits your hearts.
You will not only feel the love, but you will feel numerous emotions. The drama, love, loss and friendship really binds the book well.
The story and world is well built. The characters are sketched strongly. The language is easy and helps with the flow of the story. I am really impressed with the title. It expresses a lot to me.
The synopsis/ blur could have been more detailed and less generic.
The cover does little justice to the story.

The story is narrated by the protagonist Mira ,who was a victim of the circumstances in the hands of time.(Actually we all are just mere puppets in the hands of time).Mira has now discovered her ability to rebuild her life on her own terms.The plot takes a flashback when Mira meets Rahul and falls in love with him. Will they be able to live happily?( I won't act as a spoiler by revealing it.)
The theme is hackneyed but has a different climax which makes it to deviate fron the common plots.

Centrally, the book is a typical love story between Mira and Rahul but the plot not only admires love but also loss and grief. Mira deals with all the adversities in her life especially when the loss is irreversible and she is devastated yet strong. She recollects herself with courage and let her perseverance guide her through the situation.
My Take: The book is lucid in narration and has a lot of illusive parallelism when it comes to togetherness and enchantments. The narration is rationally set in the pace of beauty of life and then the darkness of death but obviously with a silver lining. Grief is a natural sentiment which cannot be understood by anyone other than who is experiencing it. I loved the fact how Mira rejuvenated herself from the feeling and explored the new meaning of life ahead.
Critique: The narration is untimely fast paced without an element of patience and editorial errors need to be looked into. The beginning and the first phase is bit rhetorical and monotonous with the cliche romantic aspects of the relationship but gradually the reader would feel the comfort of shift in the horizon of the plot.

But yes, few of the authors have mastered this aspect such Jojo Moyes in her book 'Me Before You' and Chitra Bannerjee Devakaruni in 'The forest of Enchantments'.

The book opens with a flashback like in movies. Mira remembers about how her husband Rahul was taken away from her on the unforgetful day of 16th December. She remembers her husband each and every day. The author makes you feel the suffering of Mira and his love for Rahul. Mira remembers when she first met Rahul in the train. They both started meeting daily but no words were exchanged. . . .
As fate has decided, they both talked to each other officially after months when Rahul protected Mira and her friends. There are many characters in the book and each doing their own part. The heartbreaking love story is an amazing light read for beginners.

The book is about Mira and Rahul who were madly in love with each other. They first met on a train when Mira was in the first year of college and Rahul was interning at a firm near her college. For the first few months they used to look at each other silently while their eyes spoke everything. When they finally got around talking they realized they were in love. Their parents also approved of their relationship and after Mira’s graduation they got married. They were very happy with each other and wanted to start a family. Everything seemed perfect like a dream come true but unfortunately destiny had other plans. Their life was going to turn upside down. All the happiness was going to flash away within seconds. What happened with Mira and Rahul? Did they have a happily ever after? If you want to know more then pick up the book.
It is a heartbreaking love story which makes you cry your eyes out. The story is short, heart-rending and can be finished within few hours. The language used is simple and easily understandable. The way the story unfolds is very predictable, straight with no twists and turns establishing your faith in all kinds of filial and human relationships. Even the catastrophe Mira has to undergo immediately after she had her ‘one precious moment’ on the balcony more or less engraves the idea that no struggle is beyond human persistence and no tragedy is life destroying if you get to have your relationships intact- both filial and social. The trauma and pain was successfully overtaken by the love and support of the friends and family, not to forget Abhishek or popularly called Abhi
To be honest I would have easily given this book a 3/5 rating had it not been for the Epilogue! The one star added to the review is purely for the sake of this wonderful Epilogue which overflows with so much optimism and hope for joy which a life can hold. Kudos to the writer for reinstating the faith in happiness and of course not to forget she is a woman(wink). Surely recommended for the beauty of love.

Trains are like lifeline in everyone's life and they prove to be one of the essential part in the life of people of Mumbai.
Mumbai has a great facility of trains running around different destinations and they are preferred by people in large due to Mumbai traffic.
Either be a student or Working professional, trains are their means of journey.
"One precious Moment" is a story of Mira and Rahul's beautiful love and unbearable loss.
The story begins with Mira and Rahul both travelling by the same train for the College and workplace respectively.
Mira being a college student of 18 years old feels great connection towards Rahul who is 4 years elder to her and eventually even Rahul feels for Mira but being strangers their sweet bond develops through eye conversations without the need of words.
The story proceeds with both having a beautiful relationship and ending up with marriage with the support of family.
Everything seems to be like a perfect fairytale with successful married life.
The story takes a twist when the couple come across unexpected disaster that leaves Mira completely shattered.
This story teaches us that we are puppets in the hands of time being played at it's will.
After experiencing the most precious moment and the most painful moment, Mira is gifted with a ray of hope and she discovers her ability to re-build her life on her own terms.
This story will tug at your heart and hopefully make you thankful for the life you lead.
Few things that touched my heart in this story are ;
⏩The maturity of Rahul in their relationship and the way he cared about the trust of Mira's parents.
⏩The moments of true love.
⏩Mira's situation during Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was really emotional.
⏩The final Goodbye words.
⏩The ray of hope that came in Mira's life when it was most needed.
I strongly recommend this book to everyone.

I loved the cover page and after finishing the book ,I loved it more.
This story is an amazing journey of a girl,who later moulds herself to be a strong independent woman.Though initially readers feel like it is a cliche love story- of boy-girl love,families against them and final reunion afetr a tragedy-this book turns down all the set norms of such a story.Uniqueness in narration and soulful presentation of emotions is what i loved the most in the book.The bondings between all the family members and how this is executed is shown in such a sweet manner.Mira's difficult times had me literally in tears.I really felt the ending could have een little more longer as I didn't wanted the story to end so fast.
The book throws light to short and intense aspects in life such as rebuilding self after being devastated and need of optimistic attitude to life.

Mira is beautiful, intelligent, head strong and impulsive. Rahul is Charming, handsome, hard-working, caring and also opinionated. There's is love at first sight and Mumbai local, where they first saw each other plays the role of their Cupid.
One Precious Moment by Ritu Kakar is a story about love and loss. The story goes in flashback narrated by Mira, the protagonist who fondly reminisces her life over the past 11 years with and without her husband Rahul.
The story starts with Mira telling us about the death of her husband,so the end is no surprise. Yet every page feels fresh and new. The relationship between Mira and Rahul is like any other couple which is exactly why it becomes all the more special and relatable. Being head over heels in love with each other, they are inseparable and still have their share of disagreements and arguments from time to time. But these are the moments in which their love seems to grow even more. They met when Mira was in college and got married 3 years later. Life was going fine and they were eath other's universe. Everything seemed perfect when suddenly it was not. Rahul's suuden death left Mira in a state of shock. Her recovery from post traumatic depression is dealt with in the book very sensibly. She has supportive family, friends and colleagues who help her come out of this state of isolation she has put herself in.
The story seemed so real that it felt as if Mira was sitting next to me and narrating her life to me. It was like listening to an old friend talk about her life, love, loss and all the Precious Moments she got to live with loved ones.
One Precious Moment is a quick easy read. The language is simple and honest. The author has done a commendable job in keeping the story real. I was really invested in the characters (a little too much as I had a good cry while reading the book). This book is unputdownable. You pick it up, start with a few pages and just cannot stop till you have finished the book.
So, in my opinion you should definitely pick it up if you are looking for a quick easy contemporary fiction.

I want to speak more about the importance of the content of the book rather than its genre. The story is quite generic - a love story, as you must have read in almost every other book. Has twists and turns, but gets a little dramatic sometimes. Easy language and no complications in the plot. There is nothing new in the plot.
But let me give you a detailed analysis if that sounds correct?
The love story did not really have any impact on me. But what struck my mind is the phase where Mira, the protagonist, overcomes the disaster that happens to her.
Having said that, let me bring your attention to mental health. Now depression is one major reason for mental illness and pain is again a major reason for depression. And the failure of a relationship is a major reason for depression in the young generation. Everyone keeps blaming the victim for a weak heart but how to really overcome a situation like such in life, is what no one generally knows. This is exactly what the book has for you. Not a step by step guide but the story of Mira who re-builds her life.
I appreciate the author for portraying Mira to be such a strong, independent woman. I think that is what everybody should know- breaking your chains and getting over your pain.
Can be chosen for a light- one time read.

Ritu Kakar with her “One precious moment” is like the Indian version of Nicholas Sparks. On reading the title of her novel, the central idea of her novel is clear, the unpredictability of life. The uncertainty of life is such that when everything seems perfect, things can change the very next second. The novel is a work of fiction but the issues it raises are very realistic and true to the existence of human beings.
There is love, there is romance, there is a happily ever after, but life can go much beyond that is what Kakkar tries to say through novel.
The lead character, Mira Singh comes across as an everyday girl easily traceable among all of us. Unexpectedly, life is generous towards her but when she is at the pinnacle of her happiness, life strikes hard and the readers can not help but be hopelessly sympathetic towards her plight. She is a victim of circumstances without any fault of hers. Here the pathos found in Sparks’ novels is clearly visible. The cover of the book shows a girl all by herself facing the world with her lover printed inside her. This implies that she carries his love with her but he is not actually there. This does complete justice to the plotline.
Everything is told through the eyes of Mira as the narrator: how her life changes, the ups and downs and the delicate nature of relationships and most importantly, the transient nature of human life. This makes the readers feel more close to her and her loved ones and also feel her pain more strongly. Everything is smooth and good and the turn of events is in chapter 14 of the novel. From here the readers see Mira evolving as a more independent person struggling and successfully handling the ultimate grief life gives her.

There is love, there is romance, there is a happily ever after, but life can go much beyond that is what Kakkar tries to say through novel.
The lead character, Mira Singh comes across as an everyday girl easily traceable among all of us. Unexpectedly, life is generous towards her but when she is at the pinnacle of her happiness, life strikes hard and the readers can not help but be hopelessly sympathetic towards her plight. She is a victim of circumstances without any fault of hers. Here the pathos found in Sparks’ novels is clearly visible. The cover of the book shows a girl all by herself facing the world with her lover printed inside her. This implies that she carries his love with her but he is not actually there. This does complete justice to the plotline.
Everything is told through the eyes of Mira as the narrator: how her life changes, the ups and downs and the delicate nature of relationships and most importantly, the transient nature of human life. This makes the readers feel more close to her and her loved ones and also feel her pain more strongly. Everything is smooth and good and the turn of events is in chapter 14 of the novel. From here the readers see Mira evolving as a more independent person struggling and successfully handling the ultimate grief life gives her.

This is a simple yet beautiful romantic fiction that will leave you happy and sad at the same time. It is the story of Mira and Rahul. They both fall in love and get married with the approval of their families. Their married life was not always a bed of roses; they had their fair share of fights too. But the way they deal it with maturity is very inspiring. Mira is living a dream life when all of a sudden he world comes crashing down when Rahul dies in a freak accident. How Mira recovers from the loss, how her family supports her throughout, how she builds her life back again on her own is the best part of the book.
Loss of a loved one is one of the worth things a person can experience in life. Getting through the loss of a loved one takes time and support from everyone around us. The healing process differs for each person. I came to know about the five stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance by watching Grey’s Anatomy. It reminded me of what Meredith said about the loss of your loved one and the five stages of grief. The book flows with flashbacks and tells how each moment is precious with your loved one. Every precious moment needs to be cherished. You never know what tomorrow might bring.
The title of the book is apt and the cover suits the story as well. This book is gripping and I finished it one go. This beautiful story of love, loss, and survival is a must-read if you are looking for a good book to immerse yourself. It's one of the best love stories that I have read in recent times. The characters are lovable. The narrative is strong and appealing. You would want to finish it in one go. This book gives hope. It is full of positivity and shows with love and support you can tackle anything that life throws at you. This book sure left me reminiscing my precious moments with my loved ones, especially in today’s hard times with Corona spreading throughout the world.

One Precious Moments by Ritu Kakar is an emotional love story of Mika Singh and Rahul Singh. After sharing 6 beautiful years of marriage, an event left her widow and alone. This is the story where Mira shares her and Rahul’s Love story. The story starts from the first meet to the first date, after months of silent talks to falling in love, from traveling in a train together to talking with eyes. Mira explains to us all. This story is not just a love story but also a story of loss, hope, and support. How family is always there to help and guide us in every aspect of life and to share the burden of grief.
After the death of her loving husband, it was very difficult to live, but she manages just fine with the support of her families and a piece of good news at the end.
Life is about living and accepting what happens. So will Mira move on after her husband's death? What leads Mira to finally being able to move on? How one precious moment can change your life forever?
My Take:
In simple words I just loved this story, it made me smile, blush, laugh, cry and sad and many other emotions that I can explain. Author Ritu Kakar has defined emotions in remarkably well manner, and I found myself feeling the same things that the character Mira was filling, from sadness to joy and from love to loss. The language is also written in simple English and admirably written, making it extra interesting to read. The most perfect and best part of the book was chapter 19 and the ending, which not only made me cry with happiness but also showed me hope that no matter what life brings at us, it always finds a way to give us one precious moment to be happy.

One precious moment
An extraordinary narration of ordinary story of an ordinary couple
Insight- Ritu kakkar have prepared a cocktail of experiences of life like anxiety, hope, happiness, sorrow, lust, love, insecurities and what not.
Though the story of the book is its weak part. If you are into reading love stories. But then her expression of telling is unique and doesn't bore you at any point.
She often uses the fourth wall of her thoughts about events using brackets to deliver winkies, her personal emotions and views very aptly.
Review-
The book is on purpose of those "Precious moments" in life we all experience at times. The protagonist Mira's life journey from a young college student to happily married women and later a widow carrying his husband's last memory as a girl child, Rahul his husband wished to have.
When Mira is young, the chill and impusive vibes of her keep entertaining, the knick knacks of young couples to dooming married couple fights all were well depicted. Sex scenes do not felt vulgar in presentation, they do produce the heat and lust but that was pure as was their love. Also the chapter after loss of Rahul was very heartbreaking and emotional which doesn't fails to moisten your eyes.
Overall it was a good read and was engaging until finisher. Epilogue is commendable.
Target readers- Women of all age will love it. It have all the ingredients of how women think, what they expect and what they want.
Drawback- Lack of uniqueness in the plot, There are thousand of Love stories in market at a time, to stand apart, some strong twist and turns are anticipated by readers which were not there.
Writing style- engaging and lucid.

She continues by telling their courtship time, their first kiss, Rahul's proposal to her, their marriage, their after marriage life.
Everything seems to be perfect for Meera, until one mishap destroys her life completely. What happened and how Meera discovers her ability to rebuild her life in her own term is the main twist and catch of the story.
Characters:The main character is Meera. Author has described her character beautifully. She is a cocktail of everything. Anyone will fall in love with her attitude instantly. The male protagonist Rahul is my favorite of all. He is not only the man of every girl's dream but also a dream character for every author. I totally loved the character portraying of the protagonists. Other than them I loved Ashi, Meera's younger sister and both Meera and Rahul's parents. All of them leave an impression by their own style.
My review:It's a very short novel and you can finish it in one go. It is one of those novels which make you realize the futility of life and teaches you to enjoy the little time that we have. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. You will love the innocence that is Carried out through the book.
