I Wanna Sext You Up

Rate this book
Workplace flirtation may cause side effects.

Super-geek physician Sam Sherazi, M.D., is clueless about anything that can’t be learned from a textbook. Most people assume he’s an intellectual a-hole with a God complex, but Sam doesn’t need a sparkling bedside manner to treat his patients. Besides, he’d rather not encourage the countless women who are solely attracted to the two little letters at the end of his name—something that’s rubbed him the wrong way ever since he finished med school. But when Lorie Braddock walks into Sam’s office, he finds himself wanting to rub her all sorts of right.

At twenty-five, former beauty queen Lorie Braddock is finally living life on her terms. She’s moved to the big city, landed her dream job, and traded her titles and tiaras for power suits and promotions. But while Lorie’s sprinting up the corporate ladder, her dating life is guided by one simple Don’t dip your pen in the company ink. Until Dr. Sam Sherazi starts invading her thoughts . . . and steaming up her phone with the kind of sexting that makes her want to rewrite all her rules.

Lorie’s a pharmeceutical’s rep. trying to grab the world of big pharma by the balls her first year out. Rookie salesperson of the year could set her career on the path for promotion and Ms. Lori is ready to work hard for the money.

Dr. Saam Sherazi has never been good with people. Like the "awkward, bordering on rude" kind of not good with people. When he meets the new sales rep. for a drug he’s not interested in using, he’s torn between the immediate attraction he feels and the need to get her out of his office. I’ll spoil the surprise and say awkward wins and these two are off to a bumpy start.

This is my first book by Evie Claire and I was engrossed from the story from the beginning. I loved her overall style and will definitely be checking out future releases.

That being said, my overall enjoyment started to lessen as the story moved forward. I don’t think I found myself really liking either character. Sure, I found the good in both and was rooting for a happy ending, but I had a difficult time caring about this relationship. Going in, I thought this would be a more lighthearted story, but nope, not so much. Fine, but I didn’t get enough personal backstory on either character for that level of dourness.

Even though I felt the lack of levity, I wanna Sext You Up still proved the be an entertaining read.

I liked multiple things about this book: the hero is half Iranian, a bit awkward and he's a doctor! The heroine's career path was very interesting to say the least: first, she was a beauty queen and then she was a pharmaceutical sales rep!

But for a book supposedly about sexting, said sexting was super lame. If that's going to be the set up of your series, it should be memorable, raunchy and dirty! This was so run of the mill that I don't even remember it.

Not interested in continuing the series.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series, but I read it as a standalone with no problem. I didn't really think that the sexting was the main focus of the story, in fact it came rather out of left field for me - but I did think that the romance itself had merit.

I am not entirely convinced that Saam would have taken that direction professionally at the end, but there was some logic in his choice. It certainly resolved the professional ethics questions that he and most particularly Lori suffered with throughout. Her behaviour was possibly the most difficult to understand, in spite of the fact that Saam is the socially awkward one. I fear that I didn't really get a handle on either of them as people, which meant that I had less investment than I might have done. Funnily enough Liza is the one who I could describe most closely.

I have to confess that the issue of medical sales is one which I found interesting, and a good reminder of how big business has far more influence on our lives than we would like to imagine!

Title: I Wanna Sext You Up
Author(s): Evie Claire
Character(s):
Lorie Braddock: Blonde
Saam Sherazi: Blue Eyed
Setting: Atlanta Georgia
Tag(s): Romance, Contemporary
Content Rating: PG-13
POV: Third Person
Smexy Level: Subtle

Overall Opinion:
"I Wanna Sext You Up" was a cute read but wasn't up to my taste. The plot just seem mediocre, the relationship between Lorie and Saam lacked real chemistry and overall this a dull read, in my opinion anyway. Whenever I find myself skimming through chapters I know then the book is not the right fit for me. Despite my lack of interest in the read, the story seems promising and so some readers may find it enjoyable. Sadly this read just wasn't my cup and tea but will highly encourage others romance readers to give it a chance.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Lorie Braddock is a former beauty queen trying to make her way as a drug sales rep. She has to talk to doctors about the company she works for and the drug they make. Sometimes it helps if the doctor will write a prescription or two. This will help Lorie look good to her boss and maybe help her team in the long run.
Dr. Saam Sherazi is fresh out of medical school and is focused on one thing, doing his job and doing it well. He wants to start doing research on juvenal diabetes. If he can get money to help with the research, it would make things so much better. He doesn't let all the drug sales reps into his office, they only waste his time.
Only Lorie pushes her way in with his favorite latte. There is sizzling chemistry between them that neither can deny. When they end up at a diabetes camp together, the sizzle turns into a full-blown fire. But when the weekend is over, Lorie begins to thing her job may be in jeopardy.
Can Saam and Lorie make a relationship work in secret? Will Lorie lose her job if her boss finds out? Will Saam ends things because he isn't going to try to convince her they belong together?
I really liked this story and found that I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. The way Saam was with Lorie was almost perfect. This is the second book in this series and I can't wait to see what the next one is about.

Lorie Braddock is all about job and career, and she doesn’t have time for men. As a drug rep for a cutting-edge insulin product, she calls on Dr. Saam Sherazi, a handsome, infuriating young physician who's all business and impossible to read. When they both lower their defenses and act on their mutual attraction, Lorie has serious concerns that their relationship will jeopardize both of their professional lives.

After reading the first book in this series by this author I was impressed, but with this one she goes on my list of must-read authors because this book is even better than the last. Saam and Lorie are vivid, endearing, believable characters, and their conflict is refreshingly authentic rather than contrived. They easily won me over early on, and I read their story in one sitting, eager to see how things would work out.

Lorie is a strong, smart professional woman, and her care and compassion for others is admirable. And Saam, bless his heart, is geeky and socially awkward, and all the more endearing for it. With delicious chemistry, lots of tugs at the heartstrings and humor sprinkled throughout, this one easily kept me glued to the page as I devoured Saam and Lorie's story. If you’re like me and love finding new authors, you’ll definitely want to give this one a read. It's heartfelt, evocative, funny, fantastic and guaranteed to please!

I’m not entirely sure what I didn’t love about this book but it didn’t quite work for me. Part of the problem is that the blurb, title, and cover all implied I’d be getting a lighthearted, fun, sexy romp of a book. But the actual story was quite a bit more complicated than that and while I wholeheartedly enjoy complicated, plot driven stories, I think there was a real disconnect here between the story that was marketed vs. the story that was actually written.

I also found the characters to be a little one-dimensional and cliched. There were issues with the pacing and there was a whole lot of telling vs. showing. Overall, the premise was very good, I just wish the author delved more into the complexities of a woman in the position Lorie found herself in, having to create serious boundaries between her professional and personal lives, when the two became a little to intertwined. But because there was also the lighthearted sexting aspect, it kind of took away from the more serious aspects of the plot and didn’t leave much room, if any, for character development.

I think my real problem with this book is that it couldn’t decide what it wanted to be: a sexy, fluffy, romp of a romance or a more serious, topical, issue oriented one. And sadly, it did neither one all that well.

Lori is a drug company rep for an insulin product. She is all about her job and career so she has no time for men. Saam is a geeky, socially awkward doctor that she is meeting about the insulin drug for her company. Saam is a smart, handsome but socially awkward man with no clue how to date. The two start to let their walls down and discover they have much in common. Lori worries that a relationship between them could hurt both their careers. A good romantic read with a cute couple.

This title is the silliest, and doesn't really indicate much at all about the book, which is really cute (+kind of hot?)! Lorrie and Saam are just trying to figure stuff out and have some set-backs along the way. Secret relationship stories are always kind of fun--and angsty--and this one isn't without either of those. I also loved the focus on the medical field here. It was definitely a story I hadn't read before!

I thought the title was a bit deceptive. Yes, there was some dirty sexting, but this was more a romance about the complications involved with two professionals get involved. Lorie is a sales rep for a pharmaceutical company and Saam is a doctor whom she’d like to persuade to prescribe her company’s diabetes drug. When they meet up outside the office, they realize how attracted they are to one another. But there are implications involving their having a relationship that stand in their way.

At first I figured that this wasn’t that much of a barrier. She could tell her company and get his account switched to another sales rep, but the author adds in another complication to explain why she doesn’t want to do this.

Add in that Saam is a very introverted man who is uncomfortable with building a connection to a woman and you have a touching and interesting modern romance which is much more than just a story about sex and texting.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I chose this book because of the cute title. I was prepared for something light and flirty with lots of texting. But this book was a very serious story. I don’t feel like this lighthearted title belongs on this story.
For me, the story felt weighted down. There was a lot of focus on the dr’s abruptness and lack of social awareness but it felt like that was thrown at me, not shown to me.
Neither character was relatable and there were several things that felt tossed ion as an after thought.
The ending was abrupt and just not satisfying. This book was definitely not for me and I can’t see myself seeking out other books by this author.

First things, this book made me look at pharmaceutical sales in a whole different (and not so good way). The characters were ok, I like the dr. He seemed to be what doctors should be like in real life. Lorie, was a little harder to like as the story progressed.

WOW....

This is a new author for me and I will be working her past titles into my tbr list.

Lorie is a pharmaceutical representative, she has a meeting with a doctor named Saam to try and sell him on hone of her companies drugs. The meeting does not go perfect but it seems they do have a connection. Having to continue on her day she needs to head back home to a bridal shop to help her best friend pick out a wedding dress. During this time Saam realizes the phone ringing on his desk is not his. He sees the picture and figures out it is Lorie's he tries not so snoop but decides to use it to call his own phone. When Lorie answer she realizes they have an issue. She can not return now to trade phones since she has left town. He scolds her for not having a password on her phone. He then gives her his password since she is traveling and needs access to a cell phone. As with Saam Lorie tries not to snoop but does see some things on the phone, family pictures and such.

They continue back and forth with cute banter over texts. And learn a lot about each other. After returning each others phones they still continue the banter, but realize it is a conflict of interest. However after a meetup at a camp where, Lorie used to go with her best friend. Saam and Lorie have an intense night together. Lorie knowing it is wrong says this can not continue. She has to put her job and her coworkers a head of her feelings. Through this all they continue to have feelings and for the most part try not to act on them.

There is a lot of misunderstandings and feelings are hurt on both sides. Can the two of them come together and be there for each other? Realize what they need most is each other?

I have not read the first book in the series.... YET.

I was given this story as a ARC and it was fantastic.

I chose to read this book because it takes place in Atlanta, so I could picture the scene, but despite all the hospitals in Atlanta (though most of them have been gobbled up by Emory) the author chose to make one up. So, there really wasn't much for me to identify with, but I enjoyed the story anyway.

Former beauty queen Lorie Braddick, from Social Circle, Georgia, had to give up competing after her father made a bad business investment. She has a new goal, as a pharmaceutical rep, to move up fast in the company. Being a people person, she is very popular with the doctors, except for Dr. Saam Sherazi, fresh out of med school. She thinks he is a condescending ass and he thinks that women are only interested in him as a doctor, money ticket,... but she smells like orange blossoms. When they accidentally switch phones, they get a glimpse into what the other person is really like- and are attracted to each other, finding they have a lot in come, including music and that they both volunteer at Camp Sunshine, a camp that enriches the lives of Georgia's children with cancer. Lorie is the first woman who has distracted Saam from his patients. However, when Saam realizes that the insulin that Lorie's company sells is the best for his patients and starts prescribing it, it becomes a conflict of interest for them to have a relationship. Despite how she feels about Saam, she is afraid it will ruin his reputation and hurt her team if their relationship would becomes public, so she feels she must break it off. When does Lorie get her happy and how will Saam and Lorie's friends, help her see what is most important in life?

Great book!!!
This was an amazingly romantic book!
I swear the passion poured off the pages!!
It literally makes you stuck. So funny! I just adore this book!

Lorie is a former beauty contestant and was so close to competing for MISS. Georgia. Her family made a wrong investment and loss everything. She is now dedicating all her energy into new goals, making a career at her current employment. She is trying to fast track it to the top. Her career choice is a saleswomen at a pharmaceutical company. She is the person that annoys all those doctors with samples and statistics:) that’s when she meets HOT, SEXY and ANNOYED Dr. Sherazi.

Saam Sherazi is a new doctor. He has big plans for himself, he is trying to find funding currently for some research pertaining to diabetes. He also is trying to get out from behind his dad who is also a doctor one who is widely known. He make the decision to not go back to Jacksonville to start practicing. He wants to make a name for himself. He is very dedicated and has no time for much else. Honestly even his apartment is still packed with boxes. He believes his patients should come first always so in order to do that he stays focused on them and really doesn’t give anyone else the time of day until Lorie.

Lorie needs to crack Dr. Sherazi her numbers and career depend on it so she try’s harder. One thing leads to another and their phones get switched and the rest is history lol jk the rest is a emotional roller coaster that I do will be reading again!! You won’t regret reading this book I swear it wraps you up!!

As a pharmaceutical rep, Lorie knows she’s landed her dream job. She has all intentions of moving up in the company. With her drive and personality, Laurie can get thru to any doctor. Well, every doctor except Dr Saam Sherazi. It seems not even Lorie can get thru to him.
Dr. Sherazi has seen when women only look at his title and see the possibility of a doctor for a husband, which is why he doesn’t date. Laurie Braddock is one determined woman, the way that she won’t give up talking to him. When he decides to hear her out, on a new diabetes medication that could help countless of his patients, Saam not only listens to her, but really takes a good look at her. During their meeting Laurie notices they have similar phones and compares them. Later that afternoon Saam realizes that Laurie took his phone and now he’s got hers. Calling her to alert her and make plans to make the switch, Saam is actually looking forward to seeing her again. Only problem is that after she left his office, she went out of town.
This is when it gets really good. They start texting and doing late night phone calls getting to know each other. Now she’s all he can think about. Their chemistry is intense, however, Laurie doesn’t want to jeopardize her career by getting involved with him.
Dr. Sherazi has finally met a woman he wants to spend his life with, but he doesn’t know how to overcome these obstacles.
I loved this book. The characters sizzled. You will not be able to put it down!

This is the second book in the Let’s Talk About Sext series, and I absolutely loved it! I adore books that are light-hearted, fun, characters that are out of the ordinary, and to top it off well written. Lorie is a young new Drug Rep for a pharmaceutical company that is pushing a new pediatric diabetic drug for doctors to start prescribing their young patients. Dr Sam Sherazi is a new doctor who has devoted his young life so far to getting through medical school, and devoting everything he has to is patients care, he’s completely socially shut off, seems mad at the world, and especially doesn’t like drug reps, at least until Lorie comes along. What I loved about this couple was the chemistry they had right off the bat. What made it interesting was the web of complications the two had with her being a drug rep and him being the doctor she calls on to get her numbers up for the drug she’s pushing for her company. I personally found this book to be very entertaining and will definitely be reading more from this author. Definitely worth the read,

I really wanted to love this book but I found myself struggling to finish. Out of the two characters, I enjoyed Saam’s perspective the most, especially his introverted / socially awkward moments. That said, I didn’t feel the characters were developed enough. Overall, we get these sketches of the lives of Lorie and Saam but we don’t get the depth that comes from family background supported by relationships. The closest Saam came was the phone calls with his twin and I thoroughly enjoyed those moments. I didn’t connect with Lorie. I didn’t follow the correlation between her burning to succeed in her pharma sales and the apparent drama with her family. As for their relationship, I was underwhelmed by the chemistry between the two. I think I was more under the expectation that there would be flirty texts and yet the sexting that did happen was rather ordinary, making the relationship itself feel lukewarm.

I loved the idea of this sort-of forbidden romance but the execution was off. I would give the author’s work another try but unfortunately, this book was a bust for me.

I thought that this was a good read but it really wasn't what I expected. The title of this book is very deceptive. I mean, I guess it's my fault for making assumptions but the blurb and title really lead me to believe that this would be a fun and flirty read and that just isn't the case. Now if you take all that out of the equation, you have a solid plot idea and a interesting storyline. As for the characters Saam and Lorie, I thought they were OK. I really, really wanted to like these characters (especially Saam) but neither ever succeeded in clicking with me. Add in the fact that I felt this couple's chemistry was just so-so at best and the fact that even by the end of the book I just couldn't believe that either character would put love and emotions over success and career and for me, all these things equaled a romance, that well, wasn't very romantic. I am posting an independent, truthful review.

Someone else characterized this as a “cute” book and I would have to agree. Based on the description (and even the title), I think I expected the book to be a little flirtier and steamier, but the couple didn’t really have a ton of chemistry. And it felt a lot like insta-love...which I am not the biggest fan of.

Yes, there was a “forbidden” aspect to the relationship, and it was forbidden because of work policies, but I wouldn’t characterize it as a workplace romance as it was more of a salesperson-client relationship.

It is a cute read and I liked that Lorie was focused on her career. And I thought that Saam’s character was different from the usual hero - he is introverted and a little nerdy. The story is pretty lighthearted and there’s not a lot of drama.

Okay, I read one chapter of this one and gave up. I do usually try to read more than this, especially when it comes to ARCs, but this book and I totally weren't clicking.
When it comes to romances, it is really important that I like the main characters or at least see they are redeemable. Now, Lorie isn't a bad character and I'm sure some people will really like her or relate to her-- heck, it is possible I might have changed my mind about her, but wow everything she did just rubbed me the wrong way. In one chapter. One chapter and everything she did annoyed me. If that isn't a sign that I shouldn't be reading a book, I don't know what is. Even the first contact we see between the main leads had me disliking Loris-- not Saam, who I think is who we were supposed to be seeing as the a-hole there. I totally thought he was in the right. So, yeah I had to stop reading.

The thing is, these are really personal reasons for not liking or continuing this story. It probably also didn't help that I picked it up because the title reminded me of a recent favorite (Let's Get Textual). I wouldn't tell anyone not to read this one, it is definitely worth trying out.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

So totally not what I expected. I was expecting light and flirty with a bunch of dirty texts. And there were dirty texts, but not as many as I'd hoped for...and it was not quite as light as it seems like it should be. Saam is a doctor with laser focus and has no time for drug reps. Lorie is a drug rep trying to get a new medication in front of him. He keeps turning her down until a mistaken exchange of phones leads to a slowly building relationship. But their relationship is totally verboten because he's considered to be a client.

I think I would have liked this read better if it was marketed a little differently. The title and cover image, and the synopsis give a different impression than I think the author was going for. I actually enjoyed the story when I realized it wasn't going to be what I was expecting.

Lorie is a pharmaceutical drug rep and she is working at wanting to be the best. She also promoting a new drug to help with childhood diabetes, since she has a friend who has had it her whole life. Wanting to get an in she makes her way for a new doctor, a Sherazi. After a few lattes and strange meetings at the coffee shop which does not work, it is finally when they both end up at the same camp for children for diabetes. It is there that their relationship finally takes off and the shy doctor realizes that the former beauty queen is attracted to him. Besides wanting to sell this medication that she believes in. This was a super sweet story (that had its HOT minutes don't get me wrong) of sexy hunk Saam falling for the reluctant but by the book former beauty queen Lori. I enjoyed everything about their journey, this author brought out Lori's reservations (which I feel like alot of them were things most of us could relate to) beautifully and I loved how Saam wasn't perfect either, they both had to find a balance within themselves that they could be happy with before finding someone with whom to share their lives. Through growth and self discovery they found their way to each other and this author captured that love beautifully. It was my first book of hers but I'll be reading her again soon I'm sure!

This is my first Evie Claire book. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the character Saam, he was your uber geek doctor with pretty sparse people skills but a heart of gold. Lorie was a pill pushing pharmaceutical rep (and I say this with nothing but kindness!) who turns Saam's perfect in a box world on edge. But will they risk their relationship or their jobs to be happy? I loved Evie's writing, she had me hooked, though I wish the romance scenes had a little more meat to them and that's just my personal preference, nothing against the author. I can't wait to read more of Evie's work, I honestly enjoyed her writing and can't wait to explore more of her worlds.

I received and ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion.

After not loving Let's Talk About Sext, the first book in this series, I wanted to give this one a try and see if that was a one-off or not. Unfortunately, it seems like that's not the case.

I loved Saam. He's the best part of this book, just like Brody was in book one. But just as in the first book in this series, the heroine just didn't work for me. Her storyline didn't make much sense to me.

I had such a hard time getting into this book and then the ending was so abrupt that I felt like I should have given up earlier like I wanted to. Saam completely saved this book and Phebe, the heroine from book one, was so much more likable in this book than her own.

While I'm sure some will love this book, I'm thinking this is the end of the road with this author for me.

Although this was a little different than what I was expecting, I enjoyed Saam and Lorie’s story. By the title, I thought this would be a little more flirty and sexy fun, but the “forbidden” type relationship was a good read. I was a little unsure of Saam in the beginning with his aloof and almost rude behavior, but when he explained why he was that way, it made perfect sense and I respected him for being a doctor who is really there for his patients and had their best care as his priority. He really grew on me and I fell in love with him.

I thought Lorie was a bit wishy-washy with her back and forth when it came to how she felt and what to do about those feelings and her job. To me the answer was pretty clear.

Overall a really good read and I loved true or dare. <3
