I work with clients regularly who experience porn and sex addiction and this book was excellently written to apply to both things a therapist can do with clients as well as what a client can do on their own recovery journey. I could not recommend this book enough for both clinicians and individuals suffering with porn and sex addiction.

Sex and porn addiction are devastating conditions that affect many millions of innocent people. Not just those who personally struggle with them, but also those who love them. Relationships and families can be torn apart, jobs lost, health and personal values compromised and self-esteem left in tatters. It is author Paula Halls belief that addiction can be overcome completely, if you 'choose' to, but recovery is a lifelong process of beating triggers, maintaining integrity and claiming life.

This book will give you an increasing understanding of both sex and porn addiction and thereby raising compassion and generating hope, and that the exercises provided within these pages will help to provide both a compass and a map to full recovery.

If you feel or know you are affected of a porn addiction or another kind of addiction and want to break the habit this book will give an insight and tools on how to do that.

I really enjoyed learning from this book. It will be invaluable in my work with internet offenders. It contains wisdom and exercises to help people identify aspects of the problems that contribute to seeking release in sexual acting out. Hall is obviously compassionate about her clients and seeks for others to understand the difficulties that they face in trying to manage sexual behaviours that have become out of control.
It was useful to have client scenarios but I found myself wondering how some of them progressed as their situations were left hanging.
I would recommend this for anyone dealing with clients who come for counselling, and demonstrate symptoms of sexual addiction. I can also see how useful it would be for people interested in helping themselves out of their difficulties.

4.5! Forgot to log when I was reading, but this is one of the best textbooks I have been able to find about sex and porn addiction. Picked up due to needing to learn more about the subject and get some treatment plan inspo for a client of mine, and this was incredibly insightful and informative! My clinical supervisor and I both agreed that this is a breath of fresh air among the many books about sex/porn addiction informed solely by religious and purity culture. Would def recommend for anyone working with clients who are struggling with either of these often ignored issues!
