The world has changed. Women have almost no rights and men hold all the power. The insidious influence of the oppressive Vanguard Group is spreading around the world and beyond. But while they can try to roll back the clock on social progress, they can’t control the human heart. Or the will to rebel.
College student Abigail Bryce never imagined she’d one day find herself on a mining outpost far from Earth, waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. She expected her soon-to-be husband to be a grimy degenerate, not a driven man with muscles on muscles and chocolate-brown eyes she could sink into.
Logan “The Hammer” Thornton decided to bid on the blond beauty the moment he saw her. If he had to have a short-term bride to satisfy his genetically enhanced libido and keep him in top form to wrench Cobalt-X out of his mine, he might as well have one who made his pulse jump. He never guessed she’d be so sweet, smart and full of passion.
Good thing their marriage had a time limit. Because why would a woman like Abigail want a life with a cyborg freak like him?
Fiona Roarke is a multi-published author who lives a quiet life with the exception of the characters and stories roaming around in her head. She writes about sexy alpha heroes and used them to launch her very first series, Bad Boys in Big Trouble.
Next up, a new Sci-Fi contemporary romance series set in Arkansas. When she's not curled on the sofa reading a great book or at the movie theater watching the latest action film, Fiona spends her time writing about the next bad boy (or bad boy alien) who needs his story told.
A hearty dose of laughter, each and every day, is required along with lots of coffee first thing in the morning as important parts of her routine.
A big miner approached the loadmaster, wanting to check out the “fresh meat” mail order brides. He was told to come back when they were revived from stasis and ready at the auction block in 4 hours. Offering credits for a sneak-peek, the loadmaster said he had to check something and would be back in 10 minutes. The miner, of course, then looked at each of the women and decided the young blond was the one he wanted – if he decided to get one.
Abigail Bryce was not happy that she had to marry a miner in order to stay out of jail. The Vanguard Group was in charge, and their “new world order” treated women as property, which was exactly how she felt. The only reason she was here was that her husband gambled and lost all of their money in one night, and she was part of the deal. All the other “brides” were matched but, since one woman had not survived the trip, Abigail was the only one remaining for two miners to bid on. Therefore, in this case, they would fight for her. The marriage would be a minimum of one year and no more than two years.
Since cybernetic implants were outlawed, Logan ‘The Hammer’ Thornton would have to conceal his strength and speed. But he was a superior fighter and won, using a nerve pinch to knock out his opponent. When he went over to his new bride and she heard his nickname, she fainted, though actually in relief that the cruel Karl did not win her. Logan took her home and immediately wanted to get down to business. Sex was the tool that literally recharged his batteries; it was his fuel and he was dangerously low right now, especially after the fight.
Abigail told Logan that she had almost completed her degree in geology and had suggestions to help him find the best place to mine for the Cobalt-X. But when she was at his desk, looking through the mining paperwork, she opened his unlocked private drawer and saw letters from another woman. He wouldn’t tell her about the woman, so she ran off to bed alone and he heard her crying. He wasn’t one to share emotions, yet he realized how important she was becoming to him. He thought about contacting her brother for a price to have her as his permanent wife after the year as temporary wife ended. He hadn’t wanted her to get emotionally attached to him – but perhaps he was the one getting attached to her. He knew he wouldn’t want her out of his life now. So when she pushed for him to spend several days looking at a spot in a cross-shaft that she swore had a rich deposit of Cobalt-X, he agreed to work it for a week if she would extend their temporary marriage an extra year, because he wanted that extra year to woo her and ask her to be his permanent wife (which he didn’t tell her). In return, if she was right, she wanted her freedom now, even before the required year of marriage was completed. Could he risk losing her?
They went into town to purchase what they needed for the mining and the shopkeeper’s wife gave her a letter that had arrived for Logan. While no one was looking, she opened it and read Charlotte’s letter, begging Logan to come to Earth now and marry her because her father was selling her to a horrible degenerate man. Abigail was not aware that Charlotte had already betrayed Logan and their relationship was over. But what would she do now? Would she foolishly try to run away, putting herself in danger of running into Karl? Or would she destroy her own relationship with Logan because of her reading his private mail, especially when it fell out of her pocket and he saw that she had read it?
I enjoyed this book which was very different than what I thought I would be reading. The political situation with women being sub-standard beings at the sole mercy of men was really scary. But meeting Logan and seeing how kind and loving he is, how thoughtful and caring toward Abigail, was a pleasant surprise. Although the story line wasn’t always comfortable, it was compelling and definitely kept the attention of the reader. Grab your copy and see how the complications finally get resolved.
Yesterday I was unable to put this book down. I read at lunch, read at the spa, then finished up at home last night. I will read more of this series.
I picked this book up on a whim. It met all my checkboxes - Alien, Romance, New Author.
Abigail's crappy husband has a debt to pay and he is going to use her to pay it. After a quick divorce, she is shipped off to a rock, that mines for Cobalt-X. She is now property of the Vanguard Group and is a mail order bride for the next few years. Paying off her ex's debt and earning money. There's only one problem, she hasn't met her future husband and she really doesn't want one. Could life with Logan be all that bad? He uses her as a sexual charging station, which she is ok with. It's not just about him, it's about her too. Everything is going smoothly until letters from Earth arrive asking Logan to come back and marry his ex-fiancee. Abigail struggles with her love and jealous. She should let him go. Can she? What does Logan think?
Finally a wife, a sexual partner, a charger for his battery. Logan knew being a cyborg was off-limits, but he needed the strength and power to mine the Cobalt-X. Marrying Abigail was the best thing for him until they shared a bed. Then his heart got involved and he wasn't willing to let her go. His past comes back to haunt him and loom over his future with Abigail. What could be worse?
Logan and Abigail, their relationship is like a flower. It slowly opens up and shows us it's beauty. I really enjoyed the connection that they had. It wasn't just sexual, he regarded her as a partner in everything, even though she was a woman and had no rights.
A captivating story that will hold you to the end! I absolutely adored this story! I loved the characters, Abigail is a strong independent woman who is unfairly treated by the new government and the men in charge of her life. Logan is the silent loner that seems to have an attitude. I loved the mix of oppression, desperation, challenge and hope that is threaded throughout the book. I couldn't put it down from the first page to the last, I could not walk away from it! No matter how Logan and Abigail come together, their union is magical. He is more than she thought she'd get and she is more than he expected to find, and the attraction they shared for each other is palpable. I have never read this author before, but I love her style. The writing is crisp, descriptive and easy to follow, her plot has a decent number of sub-plots going on and her characters jump off the page and stay in your head. This is a really fantastic book, I haven't read the first one in the series yet, but I will now. I highly recommend this book!
Cyborgs are my favorite Sci-Fi theme. This is my second reading of this story although I didn't review it previously.
The need of sex to replenish energy and strength has been used in other cyborg stories. It is referenced in the first book, The Trillionaires Bartered Bride, as needed if implants are added after puberty. In Logan's case I think it is the actual type of implants as they were added before puberty. The relationship between Abigail and Logan builds slowly with added suspense. He is a jerk for treating her like he was a member of the ridiculous Vanguard and ignoring her intelligence and knowledge. Because sex is needed to recharge and her response is important the scenes can be steamy.Family members tie the 1st and 2nd stories together. I look forward to reading Joshua's story in the 3rd book, although he was a bit of a prick in this book.
I had whiplash between the prologue and first chapter. At first I was thinking what a bummer it is to hear a man go over all the faults he found in different body types of women. Then he finds the FMC he likes (who is thin, young, tanned, blond, and "innocent" - come on, can't we get some diversity in space??). BUT he gets a mystery letter that pisses him off! Was the shitty description of women's bodies a ploy by the author for character growth? He won't get the "perfect girl" and have to learn to love a more realistic woman? Noooope, and then the much dreaded "fiesty" is lobbed out and my eyes glazed with disappointment. The woman manages to faint twice in the first chapter for god sake.
Look, it's not bad. The super pretty (but worries she's not super pretty) (virgin) FMC has ok chemistry with the MMC but the whole start just left a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't shake
This is my 1st read and review for this author and it’s a fantastic story, I haven’t read books 1 and 3 to this series but they can be read as standalones. Women were treated like property in this new world they had no rights and no say in anything it is the men who controlled everything. Abigail’s husband threw her in for a bet he lost and now she is on her way to be a mailorder bride where she would have to be someone’s wife for up to two years. Logan is a miner he’s thinking about getting himself a bride, he looked over the girls that are still in stasis and he picked a cute blonde one to bid on. This is a fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
An Interesting concept. But there is no way that men would or could take over a women like it was in the past and make then second citizens again. That the premise of this story of the future when the Vanguard Corporation takes over on Earth and Mars. Abigail Bryce is a strong woman and gives as good as she gets. When she is put into the mail order bride auctions she can't do a thing about it. So when Logan Thorton wins her by fighting Karl Paegone for her he is basically saving her from a lot of pain. Karl is evil and brutalizes his temporary wives. This is a happy ending after going thru the despicable thing that happen to them.

This is the second book in the series and I haven’t read the first but it didn’t make a difference. I would have given this book five stars until I got to the end. Without any spoilers, it left me feeling let down as if there was no conclusion to Logan and Abigail’s story. The title was a little misleading as Logan was not what I would call a cyborg. This is a well crafted story worth reading.

This book take's place in our future where woman have no right's again and are bought and sold as brides. For such a depressing future, this story works out well in the end. It is a frightening glimpse of what could happen overnight if we aren't careful. It's well written and moves quickly. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

So, this is a story set in the future where women are seen as property and are often sold to men as wives. Abigail is the main female character and has been sent to a planet to be sold. She is sold to Logan who is a cyborg. Now, cyborgs have an interesting need, they need sex to recharge themselves. This story is about misunderstandings and the fear and events that come from them. This is a short read and part of a new series but this is a stand-alone book. I missed the first one in the series and might go back and check that one out.
This is not so much cyborg as enhanced human but I loved (no pun intended) the humour that to ‘power up’ the enhanced human needed sex!
This has a simple plot, but well written and easy to read.

Men have all the power now and women have to do what they are told. She soon ends up in a distant planet waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. It is a mining planet so she is not expecting much so she is shocked when he buys her. He is a cyborg and so what will happen next? Can it be forever? See how they will get on

I really disliked the beginning of this book, neither of the main characters were interesting or particularly endearing, for some reason though I pushed through to the end instead of DNFing. The end wasn’t as bad as the beginning, so I guess there is that.
This book has the "forced sex... but it feels so good the heroine agrees to it" trope AKA dubious consent trope AKA... rape. Me no likey please no more. Thanks
THE CYBORG “S MAIL ORDER BRIDE. ( 2075 MISSION MARRIAGE, 2 ) SyFy Romance novel that have some characters who are just a little hard to connect with while others are sexy and relatable. The story has a mystery at the end, which may or may not keep the reader interested That’s the problem the book is not all good or bad it’s stuck in the middle. So dear readers if you want to give it a chance I say go for it 👎👍
*giggle I loved it!!! This book was so full of passion. Both charactersvstubborness made it all the more enjoyable. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and am excited for to read the next book. I would highly recommend. Happy reading! Rating 5 stars

A typical male order bride story set in the future with science fiction elements and all that fun stuff. The chemistry's good between the two and although he's not the sweetest guy he's only rough around the edges. There is a bad guy in the story, who she has to be saved from. Overall not bad.
I will say that I did enjoy this book but the ending was blah for me as was the epilogue. The story basically has men with ultimate poor and women as property. I do appreciate Logan he was so sweet and I eventually like Abagail. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
Abigail is thrust into an auction and 2 men are fighting to have her as their bride for a year. Karl is evil and Logan wins her never realizing what's to come. Love this book and can't wait to read Joshua's story.
First book I’ve read by the author. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!! Good world building, liked the characters, great steam with smexy times!!! I will be picking up the rest of the books in this series!
I liked the spunky Abigail and Logan was the silent strong type, the world of Vangaurd ticks me off tho’. The story was a good one, I’m glad the POS Karl was caught, also I didn’t mind the HEA, the Epilogue however, made no sense as it seems to go into the brothers story and I didn’t get the first part of it.
