Unbroken Promises

Rate this book
**This is an emotional and angsty Friends-to-Lovers romance**
When we were kids, we made all kinds of promises. We promised to always be best friends, to always put each other first, and that no matter what, no one would come between us. Little did we know that life had its own plans.

We grew up and reality set in. We realized that not all love lasts forever, and some promises are meant to be broken. It’s ironic that the promises we made as kids, the ones we thought would hold us together, might just be the very thing that could tear us apart.

I honestly don't even know how to start my review for this book. Normally writing a review comes easy to me. The words just seem to fly out, but this one has me at a lost.

If you have read anything by Nikki Ash, you know what you are in for.  An awesome story. A good plot line. Some funny stuff. Some relatable characters. Just all around great. Well....prepare yourself, because THIS....THIS IS BEYOND ANYTHING SHE HAS EVER WROTE.

This book had me so emotionally invested. I don't know if it was because it was a Nikki Ash book, or because I have been anxiously waiting for it for so long, or just because it gripped me from the first page. Either way this book had me all in my feels. Some good, some bad, but all around amazing.

I'm not gonna go into details or even try to explain this book, every reader needs to experience it all in its heartbreaking glory. But I will sum it up to this...

Three best friends, who love each other so fiercely, it makes it kind of perfect. But we all know the things that are perfect, can't ever last.

I laughed, I cried, I got pissed, I became happy again then I cried some more. Thank God Nikki kinda mended my broken heart, because I hated her for a little bit. I maybe even still do, who knows.

I can now, with a fully broken heart, say this is Nikki Ash's best work. BEST EVER!! And that says alot, because her work is amazing!!

I will be the first to admit that I tend to not read M/M/F books. Being this shy little book nerd, sometimes they are more sizzle than this girl can handle. I like the slow burn of a romance filled with temptation. Sex scenes are just a bonus in my world. So when one of my favorite authors announced she was releasing a book with a M/M/F profile, admittedly I was kinda nervous to give it a shot. In fact, I almost didn’t opt to read this due to thinking it’d be more about the sex and less about the characters. However what I found with Unbroken Promises was the opposite of my naive expectation.

While Ash wrote a story with lots of sizzle and heat, she wrote a far better story of a love between three characters, Xander, Delilah and Cole. Friends since childhood, these three have a bond that Ash took time developing and explaining. She quickly reeled you into their story making you understand it’s complex nature even turning someone like me into a believer that three people can be in love.

Ash then proceeds to take you on a whirlwind of emotions as she holds her characters to their promises pulling on your heart each and every step of the way. I cried people. I cried so damn hard for these three so many different times it’s absolutely ridiculous. I wanted to hug my kindle. Throw it against the wall. Write a string of hate messages to Ash, but that means, the writer achieved her goal of telling a story less about sex and more about the relationship, the bond, and the love that filled the pages of this book.

Ash changed my mind about this particular story profile. She made me a believer of all things love and all the many packages it’s wrapped up in. Never again will I doubt her ability to tell a story whether it’s a romance or a boring essay. Ash’s writing is perfection. Her character development is beyond compare. For those reasons alone, you should one click Unbroken Promises and fall in love with her story of never ending love.

Simply stunning.

I am a huge fan of Nikki Ash, I read her books without reading the blurb as I know I will love what she has written. And this story was no different. Except it was.

Unbroken Promises was amazingly well written and it had me on an emotional rollercoaster throughout. I laughed and I cried, she broke my heart and put it back together. Delilah, Cole and Xanders story was beautiful and the best book Nikki Ash has written yet!

Gah. Where to start? Ok first off when I started this book I knew it was going to be a good one by her. As I started reading i realized i was right and so much more. Xander, Delilah, and Cole are best friends since they were younger and have always been there for each other thru good times and bad. This book was so hot. But in ways it was also so heartbreakingly beautiful too. This actually is probably my top read by this author by far!

Ok so I’m going to start off with just WOW! I wish the rating system was different because this book needs more the 5 stars.
When I started reading the story and came to the barn where Delilah was star gazing and dealing with finding out she has cancer i thought oh boy this is going to be a tear jerker. Then the boys come in and who couldn’t love Xander’s attitude and Coles warm compassionate side. Going through high school with best friends is amazing and the bond they had was so loving and great. What started to tear me up was when Delilah’s cancer returned and her boys were right by her side loving her through everything surgery and each treatment. It nice to see the parents not only love and support her but the boys as well!! I loved how giving Delilah was when she realized the boys feels she was 100% supportive and Those letters were probably one of the sweetest teary parts of the book for me.
There were parts in the book that you know you should see coming but when they do you just can’t believe it! Through the entire book it was so nice to see the HEA that there was. I do love read MFM books and this one had a nice bonus of MM as well. It was well written and absolutely amazing storyline. 100% must read on release day with a box of tissues close by but totally worth it!!

So the pervy girl in my fawned all over the description of this book before I read it. Post reading I'm crying happy tears, not to be confused with the other tears I cried reading this book. I know I'm sensitive to the subject matter so I knew tears were inevitable but wow!!!

Unbroken Promises has just about every thing you could possibly want in a story without knowing you needed it.

Friends to lovers is putting Unbroken Promises mildly. How about soulmates!?! These three are soul mates. They are each other's other half. Don't get me wrong not all soulmates are in a relationship... some are friends. These three will break your heart, twist you hopes, and have you fearing the worst. Just remember that love is a powerful thing, it saves us in ways we never expected. All starting with Unbroken Promises...

I want to gush about certain aspects of this book so badly but I refuse to ruin it for others with my need to fangirl. But when you finish, if you need someone to gush with...hit me up!

This was my first Nikki Ash book and I couldn't pass up a tale of three people.

For all of the sexiness, I was really pleasantly surprised at how much heart this story held. The characters came alive and their struggles were real. You meet this trio young and watch them grow and try to figure out life and their feelings for each other.

Delilah, is the glue that holds them together. She is vibrant and full of life. Even when life deals her a bunch of crap, she still has this thing about her that makes her come out smelling like fresh flowers. Cole is the positive one, the everything will be okay kind of guy. But he is also the one who falls the furthest when things go sideways. Xander is the comfort, he is the strong arms who picks up the pieces.

This is story that needs to be experienced without really knowing what you are in store for. It will have your emotions all over the place and there were times that my heart hurt and times that I just had to giggle. It was steamy, like set your kindle on fire kind of steam. It was a story that had me interested the whole way through. The character's were well written and because it is from each of their POVs you were able to get a true sense of their feelings and struggles. I read this in over the course of a day and couldn't stand to put it down because I wanted to know how it was going to end.

While this was my first by this author, it will not be my last. I really enjoyed how her words flowed off the pages and gave me something unexpected.

OH MY! I have read books from this author before but was unprepared for the magnitude of this experience. Hands down this is the BEST one she has EVER written. I am an emotional mess. How do I tell you about the awesomeness of this story?! My heart is so full... I want to discuss all but it would ruin the brilliance of this book. This story is not at all what I expected. It is one of the most touching love stories I have ever read. MMF reads seem to be all the rage right now but this one is MORE than that and so beautifully unique. It is SO different, it needs its own category. I am intentionally being vague because I want all to be exposed as you journey through its telling. I will say you will love Cole, Xander, and Delilah. Wow! Wow! Wow! Yes I am probably rambling and repeating myself throughout this review. I am still reeling from a massive book hangover! Ugh! Happy Reading Everyone!

Unbroken Promises by Author Nikki Ash is an MFM novel with changing dynamics.

“The guys have their friends, and I have mine, but at the end of the day, nobody comes before my boys, and I know they feel the same way about me. We’ve created a friendship that I know will stand the test of time.”

This is the first full-length novel I have read by this author. I knew from the start this would be my kind of story. The blurb and cover revealed a tempting romance. But, the initial pages of the story are what kept me there. Sweet-cute friends that were the forever kind was what really solidified my affections for this novel.

“I always smile when Xander calls me sweet girl. Anybody who knows him, knows he’s rough around the edges. While Cole is sweet and wears his heart on his sleeve for the world to see, Xander keeps his locked up tight from everyone besides Cole and me.”

As the story progressed, some time passed, and we came to know different sides and preferences for our main characters, Cole, Delilah, and Xander. In this time, the author gave us lots of heat, heart, and some really ugly tears, as she took us places that I never would have expected at the onset.

“As much as we would like to be in control of our lives and futures, sometimes we can’t be. Sometimes we just have to sit back and hold on tight while we see where life takes us.”

There came a point in this story that I had to just stop and breathe. Deep breaths for everything gained and all that was lost. But, tissues in hand, I powered toward the end. And the ending, squee! It was exceptional! So sweet, so loving, so sentimental.

“Do what makes you happy, be with who makes you smile, laugh as much as you breathe, love as long as you live.”

Unbroken Promises was a true beauty for ashes novel. Through highs and lows, love and loss, forever-love won.

I'm a huge fan of this author's work but oh my goodness what you have done to me this time, i have no words for how much I loved this story.

Even if m/m/f isn't your normal pick I implore you to try this book. Delilah, Cole and Xander are written with so much love and understanding I couldn't help but fall for them all. Usually I have a character who calls to me more but not this time. I loved Delilah's strength and determination, I loved Cole's huge heart and I loved Xander's selflessness.

You will need tissues I know I did, emotionally I was shredded by this wonderful beautifully written book.

Nikki Ash Unbroken Promises

The Curveballs of Life

This is an emotional rollercoaster from page one. How many times in one book can I allow my heart to be broken? It turns out that the answer is higher than I'll admit. 😭🤧😭

The death of several loved ones is the biggest contributor to my heartache. Still, the love that starts as friendship and morphs over several years between Xander Thompson, Delilah Cross, and Cole Andrews is sweet and innocent, which leads to some excellently steamy times.

“I have to get a mastectomy on Monday. I’m going to have a breast removed before I’ve even gone out on a date. My hair is going to fall out from the chemo and no guy is going to want to date me...if I survive.”
-- Delilah Cross

I love and hate how this ends. I can't think of a way to describe it without saying too much, so if you're curious about it, I'd recommend reading yourself.

The narrators, Theo Sinclair, Duncan Prescott, and Marina Barrett, do a wonderful job. I really do wish this was in duet, though. I know, I can't always get what I want. 😉 🎧💛🎧

I don’t even know where to begin. Nikki Ash put me through the wringer with this book. If there was an emotion to be felt she brought it out in me while I was reading. I am not exaggerating here. I was absolutely gutted, I sobbed, I was furious, I was swooning, I was falling in love, I was melted by the heat. Everything. This book is just everything. More than a simple romance Unbroken Promises is a full emotional journey deeply layered and through good and bad filled with more love than anything I have ever read.
Vague is going to be the theme here in this review because this is a book you do not want spoiled. I don’t care how much you think you like spoilers, don’t do it. The impact Delilah, Cole, and Xander’s story has is a powerful one that must be fully experienced. The power of the emotion that is packed into this book is flat out astounding. Their story will wrap you up the moment you start reading and afterwards you will never be the same.
Unbroken Promises is nothing like I expected and more than I could have ever imagined. One of the most powerfully moving and utterly beautiful books I have read this year, maybe even ever.

😭❤️🔥😭❤️🔥!!!! I have so many mixed emotions right now. I couldn’t read this book dry eyed. The blurb was nowhere close to what I expected to read; it was much much more. What a heartwarming but very sad but also very fiery and loving story. This story is one that shouldn’t be spoiled and key the reader captivate the amazing characters.

First this story was told in 3 POV so it added more to it and gave better understanding of what was going on. Xander, Delilah and Cole were childhood best friends that did everything together literally. They were with each other in the ups and downs and never let any third person interfere in their relationship. That’s one of the things I loved about this story that it didn’t added unnecessary drama from another source and just focused on these three amazing individuals that grew up differently but shared a bond like no other.

As the story develops you see how each feel about the other and vice versa. You read the joys, the sadness and the heartaches. You see milestones and how they each support each other but you also see true love and true friendship. There was a very low point in the story that I couldn’t even be mad at this particular character because of what he was going thru. So much pain and sorrow will leave you with a pain in your chest for him. It was extremely sad and heartbreaking.

When the dust settled you saw a couple fighting for their love. You saw how they fought for their love and family. I had tears while reading this book especially the second and third half since it’s broken down by how many years have passed. Everyone should grab this story and read it.

This book completely blew me away! This is the first book I read by Nikki Ash and I can definitely promise it will not be the last. My heart feels like it's been chewed up, spit back out and put together again piece by piece. It was so beautifully written. Once I read the first page, I did not stop until the end. It has been a very long time since a book has taken hold of me so completely. I cried my eyes out which is also something I haven't done in too long. In the midst of one of my crying spells, I asked my husband why authors write books that make the reader cry because then you can't see the words? But I wouldn't replace that moment in the book for anything. This is a story of three best friends who share a connection that few people rarely experience and if they do, they must grab on tight and never let go. I've read thousands of books and I can honestly say it is my absolute favorite book to date. There are plenty of steamy scenes along with all the emotional feels that help give the story everything it needed. I plan to carry the memory of this amazing story close to my heart for a long time. This book hangover will last a while!

Unbroken Promises is one of those books that comes around once in a blue moon. I can honestly say that fell in love with the book from the get-go, and it's a top 5 read of all time for me!
We're first introduced to these characters when they're just young kids who a searching for friendship. The three of them form a life long bond that can never be broken. They form a support system for each other that is rare. It's a love that may not be understood by all, but it's very real, and all their own. "All of us, or none of us" is one of the major running themes of the book.
When I was reading Unbroken Promises, my heart soared and it broke. It broke so hard, I wasn't sure if it could ever be put back together again. But I had faith in Nikki that she would make sure it was mended, and I was right. Delilah, Cole, and Xander's story just touched my soul in a way that very few books have done. Even if menagé or MM isn't your thing, I encourage you to give this one a try. This isn't your typical story. It's one of strength, understanding, forgiveness, and above all else, love.

My first read by Nikki Ash and I absolutely can't wait to read more from her. This story started out with a bang...with heartbreak but also with redemption and new found family. This is a love story that transcends family and friendship. A story so filled with emotion that I told the author I hated her at one point (I don't really though...the book put me through the paces). Will Delilah, Cole and Xander have their happy ending? Apart? Together? Once I started, I literally could not put the book down because every time a shoe fell, I HAD to see where Nikki would go with the story. It has a little of everything, a little YA that becomes a bit steamier (okay maybe very steamy) and enough angst and pain to break your heart. But along the way it also has hope and faith and in the end...that's the best we can ask for.

Let me start off by saying that Nikki Ash has become one of those authors that is an automatic one click for me. She could write about anything and I would be excited to read it,
With this book, Nikki has gone into uncharted territory for her and I have to say, she deserves a standing ovation for Unbroken Promises. This story is told with grace, love and pure heart.
This book had my heart breaking as I read it and the strength and perseverance and pure love in this book will shake you to your core.
There is so much I want to say, but I am not going say it because as the reader you deserve to experience and go on this journey with these amazing characters and see it all unfold through their eyes !
5 beautiful stars to this amazing book.

This book was not what I expected. Not at all. It’s Nikki Ash, so it’s hot and steamy romance with a nice dose of angst, some fantastic humor and the traditional HEA, right? Nope. Not even close. I think Ms. Ash may have just created a new genre where women's fiction meets beyond-steamy romance. It might better be described as “rip my heart out, tear it to shreds, chop it up in a blender and toss in a grenade for good measure" romance, because it certainly did all that. And for that, my bruised heart has a few choice words for this author once it gets over the emotional hangover. But the other side of it, that balances things out beautifully, is the reminder of what a precious gift love is, the beauty of hope and healing, and the magic of wishing on a shooting star.

This story is like nothing else in the romance genre today, and it is unforgettable. It’s devastating and heart wrenching, and it's uplifting and inspiring. Ash balances the pain, loss and fear with compassion, optimism and the promise of new beginnings. Yes, it will put your heart through the wringer, but it’s so fresh, unique and different that it’s absolutely worth going on this journey. Ash’s talent and skill truly shine in this phenomenal work that is easily her best to date. I hesitate to take up a spot of my list for top five books of the year, but I think Unbroken Promises rightfully earns a place there.

I’ll admit that I was apprehensive about reading a book with anything that deviates from the typical H/h romance, but I’m so glad I didn’t let that keep me from reading this book. I put on a brave face and dove right in and I was in love with these characters by the end of the second chapter. I thought I knew how things would resolve but I couldn’t have been more wrong. In many aspects it was a challenging read, but the reward was unparalleled. Ash held me prisoner with these very real, vulnerable and eternally endearing characters and I was helpless to do anything but devour the book in one setting. Although their story is poignant and heartbreaking it shows that there can be blessings from pain, contentment from sorrow and beauty from ashes. Tragic. Authentic. Heartbreaking. Inspiring. Unique. Uplifting. Unforgettable. Don’t miss it.

So, it has been a few days to write this review because of having to take it all in. Nikki Ash has been a favorite author of mine for some time, but with Unbroken Promises, she has exceeded any and all expectations with this one. Going into this one, I thought it was going to be two friends who fall in love with the same girl and they become a unit so to speak. But what Ash gave us was so so much more. The pain, the heartbreak, the raw emotions and first and foremost, the connection that these three have blew me away on every level. Xander, Cole and Delilah go through something so beautiful but also gut wrenching.
This story is more than just about the naughty. It is about how you can develop raw emotions for someone without expecting it to happen. The trials and tribulations that these three face had me broken in so many ways. I am not a huge crier, but it seems this year has broken my black heart. I bawled during this book. Like ugly cry. What was thrown at the three of them just blew me away. I wanted to yell and scream but I also was rooting for them to find that once in a lifetime love with each other. As you go through this story, there are moments you will want to scream, moments you want to swoon and moments you will be gutted. There is an underlying storyline that goes with this story which elevated the story concept just so much more.
Overall, this is the best work I have read from Ash. She gives you her all in this story as you are thrusted into an unexpected relationship, heartache and finding yourself again. I think that is what I adored about this story. It wasn’t about the sex or the naughty thoughts, even though those moments were steam as all get out! It is about a deeper connection that is shared. The character development of these three is brilliant as you watch them grow. The story’s fluidity had me gripping my tablet and in tears as it just spilled out onto the pages. If you have never read a MMF book, please, please, I beg you. Give this book a chance and click it because your mind will be blown by the promises made and the promises kept. One of the best books of 2018 by far!

The bonds of friendship built through the childhood adversity of one, becomes a love that will last their lifetimes.

How is it that you can absolutely love a book that broke your heart? That had you ugly sobbing, reaching for tissues as you just wanted to reach in and comfort the characters as much as you wanted the comfort for yourself.

Well, Nikki Ash did, and I was. She broke my heart, I loved the book, and I sobbed. Then I was comforted, and I felt so much love for the characters, and still so much love for the book. Unbroken Promises, what a winning formula Nikki Ash has put together between these pages. You will see it labelled as MFM/MF and MM, but, do not mistake this for erotica in any form. Yes it’s H O T, *fanning myself, seriously*, but, there are emotions on so many levels. Emotions literally soak the virtual pages of this book!

This is an amazing story of Cole, Delilah and Xander. They became the very best of friends at 12, and have stuck pretty much together since then, and I hesitate to talk too much about the plot for fear of giving away spoilers, but, I can tell you what I loved about it, and say that these three characters are nothing short of beautiful in their own right.

Xander and Cole came to be foster brothers after tragic childhood circumstances, and live locally to Delilah. She’s living through a sombre and challenging childhood of her own, something neither a child nor their parents should ever have to deal with, and the two boys become the stalwarts of support that she needs them to be. I especially loved Cole and his heavy sense of accepting fate and that things happen for a reason, that sometimes there are sh!t things happening in life that could still lead to a promise of something better. He is really an optimist. Trouble is, he also continually looks back to a childhood promise he made, and almost risks their entire futures when he can’t seem to move forward.

So many times we read of parents who will stop at nothing to control their children. Not so Delilah’s parents, John and Joanne. They are the heroes in this book. Their unconditional love is beautiful, inspiring, and amazing. There was so much adversity facing them as parents in this book, and they shone like stars. I loved them.

I did receive an early copy of this book, but, I loved it so much that I had to buy my own. I don’t believe that I can write words well enough to convince readers that Unbroken Promises is a story that is anabsolute MUST-READ. It’s quite a big read, and deserves every one of it’s 5 Stars. Seriously.

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
I am writing this as I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face. Wow! This story became stronger and more emotional with every word I read. I truly loved how between the three of them they created their own love story. To me it doesn't feel like a MFM relationship because it all feels just like it is supposed to be. I feel like it would be wrong any other way. Delilah, Xander and Cole were truly perfect in their imperfect moments that told their story.
This book was so powerful because even when the characters were hurting you still see the love shine through. This story is a love story but one that was so unexpected and refreshing. Delilah is so strong with all she faces and to make a decision that will not only change her life but the lives of those she loves for the rest of their lives.
I have followed this author for a while now and I love her style writing but this book truly blew me away. Wow just wow, I am almost speechless about how to process what I have read. I went from loving to hating and from being devastated to being pieced back together. I know this is a story that will stay in my heart forever.
This book blew me away. Totally didn’t expect what I read. Delilah had me in knots and Cole and Xander gave me the unexpected. Beautiful writing with a storyline that will make the tears fall fast. This is a story of true love and true companionship. Excellent read.
This book! Oh. My. God! I’ve never read anything like this! This might be the best book I’ve read this year!
Everything! This book has all the feels, emotions and heart you could ever ask for in a book. I've read many amazing books. But after reading this, I truly understand what amazing is. Yes, I've read my share of the ugly cries, heartbreak , suspense and so on. But none affected me like Unbroken Promises. This review will be hard for me to write because while I always try not to give away spoilers, it is difficult with this book. But I will do my best.
Three best friends. Delilah, Cole and Xander are everything to each other. Loyal, devoted, protective and loving. Their friendship was beautiful and one with no boundaries. There was nothing these three amazing people would not do for each other. Nothing at all.
As they start their journey as just friends, it eventually changes. I can't give you the why. Telling you will spoil so much. I do want to tell you that the chemistry between Delilah, Cole and Xander was only a small part of their dynamic. Inseparable for years until something happens.
There is a lot going on with each protagonist. Each has their own demons to conquer. Unfortunately these three will have to go through very tough times before they can move on. Their journey is filled with angst, sadness, devastation, frustration, fear, and love.
I am usually very good at predicting what will happen. But I can say that this book kept me guessing. I have read several books by this author and have never been disappointed. And as I said, this book is fantastic. Get ready for the emotional roller coaster of your life. I highly recommend Unbroken Promises. I look forward to see what Nikki will give us next. She has already proven to me that her imagination knows no limits.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
Wow! First let me say that the cover (while hot!) does not match the story, neither does the blurb, only the title fits.
This story is not at all what I expected to read.
This story is incredible. It will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride following three best friends. You do need to be warned, this story has hot sexy threesomes, along with lose. This story was real, gritty, and emotionally draining. The story is broken up into 3 parts spanning the characters young lives, and we get all three characters POV throughout the story.
These three people form an unbreakable bond and make unbreakable promises.
