We first met Quinn in Samantha's book, "Don't Fight It". Now we get his story along with his partner, Carson. I really loved these two and enjoyed watching them fight for their relationship under the stress going on all around them. I read this one and am going back to read the rest of the books in this series!! All I can say is, Samantha never lets me down with her stories. You feel all the emotions the characters are going through. Loved, loved, loved this!!
Once again, Samantha Cole has captured an MM D/s dynamic, and the determination with which Quinn and Carson fight for their relationship makes fascinating reading. That's in addition to the events in the city, the riots, Quinn's integrity and determination for those in his care as a US Marshal, and the heart-stopping moment he goes over the bridge - and you wait to find out what happens (seriously, you could read it just for this!)
While part of the Collective, this is a standalone, but, if you've started with any of the others, you'll enjoy seeing a different perspective on their stories, particularly Hisoka's. Samantha Cole never disappoints, and this book is no exception to that rule.
Quinn and Carson's tale top's the collection. Besides the D/s and M/M relationships that intertwine this couple this story also included shoot outs, near drownings, kidnapping, and crooked cops, DA's and judges. A complete masterpiece. Answers are finally given to some of the mysteries started in the other books and I cannot wait to see how everything gets wrapped up.
Sure you could read this as a standalone, BUT- it's best read as part of The Collective Season 2. Quinn and Carson are such fantastic characters, and their story will have you turning pages! I love the dynamics of the relationship and the heat- wowsers!
Samantha Cole has done it again. I loved Quinn and Carson! While Angst can be read as a stand alone, it is best to be read in order as a part of the Collective. I really loved this story.
Loved this book so much. I read it before the others in The Collective and can’t wait to start the series so I can read it again. Great job Samantha!!!!
This is book #2.7, in The Collective Season Two series. This novel can be read as a standalone. For more information about the series, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading these in order.
Carson moved to San Francisco to take a position that furthered his career as a doctor. The love of his life decided to make the move with him there. Only they never see each other anymore.
Quinn is not sure he wants to stay in his current job. He moved here with Carson to be with the man who he loved beyond all else. Their careers are so demanding, that it seems they have no time together lately.
While this series has its own thread weaving through all the books, this one turns up the heat and keeps it blasting. This author is an automatic buy for me and this story does not disappoint. Thrilling, and full of suspense, this is a story that will leave you breathless and wanting more.
One of the great things about multi-author series like The Collective is that you get to read not only amazing books, but meet new authors. Samantha Cole is not new to me and she doesn't disappoint with this one. *On a side note - if you haven't read Samantha's Trident Security Series, you definitely should, this is a loosely attached spin-off, but if you enjoy this definitely worth reading her other stuff as well.
Quinn and Carson are a long term D/s couple, and with that comes a lot of challenges and bumps in the road. As the struggle in a new city that has become extremely chaotic and deadly. A LOT happens and it is super awesome, but I hate spoilers in reviews, so I won't spoil it. The best part of this book is the depiction of their relationship and the portrayal of how difficult any type of relationship is and the work that is involved in making sure it works. It is simply breathtaking and beautiful.
**Definitely read the series in order it is the way to go**
I love Samantha Cole and her writing style and stories. I went into this story knowing it's part of a multi author series. It was fairly self contained although I can tell there is more to the underlying stories that I didn't know. I loved the relationship between Quinn and Carson. I love that it hints at other well loved characters from the Trident Security series. It helps pull everything together. I wish we had a bit more closure at the end and got to experience the proposal. But at least we got a HEA for now. 4/5 stars
I loved this book! It’s great to get Quinn’s story! I loved the chemistry between him and Carson. We had hot steamy love scenes, a realistic relationship between two people with high pressure jobs, corrupt police and DA, and kidnappings. This book was definitely my favorite of season 2.
Carson and Quinn the D/s relationship clearer. The angsts of both a relationship and job makes for many confusions in their life. Samantha is able to bring to life and the characters become new book friends that I hope will make return appearances in future books.
Quinn and his submissive Carson have been together four years. When they moved to San Francisco, things have gotten strained in their relationship. Between their jobs, they are more like roommates than lovers. Quinn is a US Marshal, and Carson is an anesthesiologist. With all of the riots going on, their lives are crazy. Can they find their way back to each other, or are they going to fall apart?
Two men, a Dom and his sub, with high stress, high powered careers are caught up in events driven by the San Francisco riots. Carson Matthews and Quinn Alexander are terrific characters. I loved them both instantly. Samantha Cole has done an outstanding job of creating an emotionally charged love story set against a backdrop of fast paced action, intrigue, chaos and loss.
This was my first Collective book but not my first SAC. It exceeded my expectations. The characters, story and crossovers make it a must read. Next step is get the rest of the Collective.
In not nausea fan of MM romance, the the story and characters were great
Samantha A Cole always delivers a page turning story with relatable characters. Even though MM is not my preferred genre, Quinn and Carson's story was amazing.
Quinn and Carson’s story is really fast paced, with twist and turns throughout their entire story. Once you start you can’t put it down. Both men have to make adjustments and work together to keep their partnership solid.
This was a great story and was wonderful to see all the interaction of this book to the others. This is MM book of love and endurance. Great job written and story.
Do like this author and the links to trident. Good read with plenty of action that sometimes blended into each other. Established romance but with tensions. Good read.
Waited until I finished the entire series to comment. This was my first multi-author series.
Overall, The series was not what I expected. I thought each book would play off each other and tell more of a complete story. I did not find that to be the case in most of the books and felt that there was absolutely no reason to read all of the books so just choose the authors or plots that you like.
This book review: I really liked this book. Felt it was really a multi-series book and incorporated all the other characters into this one. The only problem was this book and the previous book was so overlapped that you felt that you were reading the same book twice. Not necessarily bad because the previous book is also a great book.
This was the first book by this author (all though I had some in my library that I haven't gotten to yet). First M/M book as well. Loved Quinn and Carson! Want to read more about them. I have since gone and read many of this authors other books and I must admit I love Nick and Jake (mentioned in this book) and in their own story in "Topping the Alpha: Trident Security Series" and recommend that book as well as most of the authors other books.
Another wonderful M/M story by an author who knows how to write this genre so everyone will love it. Quinn and Carson obviously love each other but apparently the stressors of each man's job seem to be causing problems in their relationship. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering whether circumstances (and boy there are a lot of circumstances) can be overcome. Loved this book so do yourself a favor and don't miss out on something special.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
The Collective Season Book 7, Angst Samantha A. Cole ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have decided to start with Samantha’s story, as she is the only author I really know, and I feel like I really know her characters. This review may be a little vague as I don’t want to ruin anything that may occur in earlier stories (I’m moving onto them now).
We had previously met Quinn and Carson, so I was happy to read more into their world. They share a lovely relationship as Dom/Sub, but it is their day to day love that gives me the warm and fuzzy’s. But the life they leave has a very different t the worlds they are working in. As everything in San Francisco is turning to hell with riots creating mayhem and murder…
Carson, an anaesthetist sees the raw damage playing in real life as person after person are bought into the hospital with a range of injuries pulling the string line he is on tighter and tighter. For US marshal, Quinn his normal roll is in witness protection, but this outburst in the city, funding one of witnesses on the street, and a whole world of corruption, Quinn will be thrown head first into a world of hurt.
So not only, is his relationship with Carson rocky like any other couple, but he will pull out all the stops for man he loves, the ones who need him, and the city Of San Francisco to bring back the world we all live for. But it won’t be without loss….
Ms Cole, has once again created a fantastic story, with plenty of steam, gun totalling, bag guys, drama and a little glimpse from the Trident hotties.
