The US military has a secret lab that works for its benefits. The lead scientist that works there, Rydel, has created many, many devices that helped the military to be more successful in their missions. But one day, he accidentally discovers something that is hard to believe. He created some form of time travel. Only few people know about this phenomenon and they talk their way around it, what they should do. They used it three times, the last time actually making contact with a person from the past. But as soon as they returned, a huge tsunami killed three thousand people. So that experiment was put on hold until they discover if it was just a coincidence or the Placement caused it.

One year later, Rydel goes to see his sister on her deathbed. She tells him that she received a message from God and that he's the chosen one. He is chosen to save Jesus Christ. So he uses the Placement to do just that.

But the commanding officers, John and Ray, know that changing even something minimal in the past, will cause the loss of many people in the present. That's why they gathered a team to join Rydel and stop him in his intention. Once they arrive, they will face strange powers upon them that will split the group. What will they decide? To save His life or the lifes of those who they promised to guard and protect?

I started this book without any expectations and I was positively surprised. The narration is rich, unique and addicting. Military thriller full of action and adrenaline that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. You just can't put it down until you find out how this story will end.

This is one of the most interesting and intriguing stories that I've read in a while. The topic that it touches is unusual and controversial, and with that it shows us a different perspective of some things and in my opinion, it gives a great message to the reader.

The characters are with questionable moral since the beginning and throughout the book, but as you read and discover the surroundings, you have no other choice but to put yourself in their shoes. With that you will start to understand their actions more.

Six-time award winner novel that will bring chaos in your mind, same as it is put between the pages. You will remember this story long time after reading it and often catch yourself thinking about the topics that it touches. Fascinating book!

This book held my attention from the opening and I found myself going to bed early just to read it each night (for the three nights it lasted). I had a bit of a crush on Ray from the beginning. The characters are facing unprecedented circumstances, and each member of the mission faces his own demons as faith is questioned and tested. I am looking forward to friends reading this so I have some people I can discuss it with. Definitely good for dinner conversation or book club. I recommend it.

“Save Him” by William M. Hayes is a unique thriller you will not be able to put down!

When a scientist learns that his dying sister received a message from God to save Jesus Christ from the cross, he takes it very seriously. She is a nun and he is a scientist that specializes in creating special high-tech military technology. The scientist can travel back in time by using a special temporal placement chip that he created. A team of elite soldiers, with whom he works, is not so sure altering history is a good idea because changing the past can drastically alter the present. The team uses the chips, to go back into time. When they arrive, several of them have experiences that change how they feel about the scientist’s mission. Some are convinced the scientist needs to save Him. Encountering Christ in the flesh further promotes their beliefs. An evil being, with knowledge of the present, threatens some of the team members into not helping the scientist. Each person must race against time to accomplish the outcome that they desire, because the chip is already programmed to return them to the present within a certain amount of time.

“Save Him,” is an incredibly unique well written thriller. The author created well described scenes that made me feel like I was present, experiencing the drama alongside the characters. He also did an excellent job of bringing the cast of characters to life. He creatively lets the readers know what their motivations are, without bogging the story down with excessive detail. I loved the comradery amongst the team members. I also liked being able to see inside their heads so that I could gain a greater understanding of their motivations.

While this is a story about Jesus Christ, I would not call it a Christian novel. Jesus is a major player in this story, and I think readers will enjoy getting caught up in a story that takes place during a critical time in our history. This aspect of the story adds to the uniqueness of the author’s creation. If a book could be written that incorporates the majority of aspects of my personal interests, I feel that “Save Him,” by William M. Hayes is the one. I look forward to seeing what the author has planned for future novels in this series. Readers of high-tech suspense thrillers and of alternate history novels will love “Save Him.” I think it would make an excellent gift!

Enchanting

"Save Him" by William M. Hayes was a book I was not sure I was going to enjoy, but it surprised me. I love when this happens, and it is why I enjoy reading so much. Ray was a character I was not expecting. Seeing his faith leap from the pages of that first chapter, Church, intrigued me so much that I had to keep reading. The relationship with his wife is admirable. I like the exchange that happens between them at the end and that is all I can say without spoiling it. I want a relationship like theirs - One of trust and absolute faith. I felt as if his connection to his religion is what helps him keep his sanity because the things he--a soldier--goes through is no easy feat. The camaraderie between him and the men that serve him is one that I have heard truly does happen and can make all the difference out on the battlefield, for trust is a must out there and being able to depend on each other to do what needs doing, to have each other's back, is also very important. As I said, this story took me by surprise. I would truly like to read other books by Hayes because I enjoyed his prose, the details, the dialogue (so natural!). I would recommend this book to anyone, even if they are not into the military-type genre.

I went into this book not really knowing what I was getting into. For the most part, I have always been a romance reader, but I am a book lover first and foremost. I have been trying to reach outside my normal TBR list to find some different stories being told by new authors. THIS book fits that bill and then some!

Save Him is an extremely well-written story about an elite military unit, "The Unit", and their mission to go back in time to prevent Rydel from saving Jesus from the cross. Although this book is definitely “faith-based” it is not an overtly religious book and it was the Unit’s story that kept me completely engrossed and guessing from beginning to end. Hayes writes with a descriptive style that paints a complete picture of what you are reading and like when I get sucked into an awesome movie, I wasn’t going anywhere until the very end!

And because I AM a romance novel loving girl and so are a majority of our blog followers, I HAVE to say reading about alpha males in a NON-romance book is crazy fantastic! I know some will crush on Ray Catlin and I wouldn’t blame them, but I personally took a shine to Sal.

“You want me to go back in time and save Jesus Christ?”

When the lords of literature — the same lot who gave us science fiction — gifted us with the marvelous concept of time travel, they opened the doors to endless plot possibilities, no matter how plausible. So if you are going to employ it, why not swing for the fences?

That’s exactly what William M. Hayes has done in his imaginative, thrilling work, Save Him. Here’s how he gets us from Point A to Point B.

A ten-member SWAT team, sent on dangerous missions to keep Americans safe from threats around the world, is brought to the secretive military Genesis Lab and told of their next assignment — stop extremist groups in Afghanistan who have been hiding weapons of destruction. Much like the character Q who provides intricate gadgets to aid James Bond, the brilliant scientist Rydel Scott is at it again. He has already developed applications to make team members resemble the appearance of any culture, past or present, and a translator to make them fluent in any foreign language on the spot.

“Save Him” by author William M. Hayes is perfectly described in its cover: A Military Time Travel Thriller. But, although I knew what kind of reading to expect, it surpassed my expectations about this. This book greatly weaves the scientific theory of chaos, with the hi-tech aspects of the time travels and the suspense of a good military thriller.

This fiction novel is perfectly plotted, as it results to be fascinating, well-paced and full of surprises. The events and reveals trickle in at a pace that keeps readers biting their nails throughout the course of the chapters. I strongly recommend this book to all the science and military fiction lovers.

Interesting...? I guess...?

The first thing I want to say about this book is that I have mixed feelings. It’s very complicated for me because this book was given to me during the worst possible time. I’m currently in the middle of transitioning The Rebel Christian into a blog that exclusively reviews Christian material—books, music, or even Christian businesses. So, reading Save Him was partly bad timing and partly just not my cup of tea.

Let me explain a little further. Hayes reached out to me and described a pretty interesting concept; a brilliant scientist is faced with an extraordinary mission that challenges his faith, his integrity and threatens the safety of all of mankind. Rydel Scott, our protagonist, must go back in time and save Jesus Christ from the Cross. When I first began reading, I didn’t really know what I was getting into. I’d been approached by the author and asked for a review, but I wasn’t told that this book was not Christian fiction until after I’d already agreed to review it. I felt a little deceived by that news, but I thought, how on earth could a book about Jesus Christ Himself not be Christian??

I loved the premise of this book, but the first half was so badly written I wanted to stop and delete it from my Kindle .. but I have a rule to finish each book I start. The book has so many issues that I would tell you to give it a hard pass.
If you like your science fiction to contradict itself everytime it's convenient for the author to introduce a twist - you'll still hate this authors blatant disregard for his own invented tech, let alone his disregard for physics - no you can't fire a projectile into the air and come down and hit a target, let alone have it "inject" someone with a non lethal round. Nor can a chip that's embedded that works with the subjects brain to keep them safe, suddenly become a pill that can be swallowed in later chapters. Then there is the first half of the book that beats into your head that the entire lab is white - everything is white - but the author continues to describe each office and other setting in this lab as being completely white.. like you can forget the description this first twenty times.
Then - the ending .. you have an historical/religious figure front and center as the subject of this poorly written piece - hardly utter a single word of dialogue to his would be rescuers. Then without explanation .. our time travellers just travel back randomly without any explanation why.
There is so much very wrong -including the ending - that again ruined a great premise that had the author written above a tenth grade level might have been something great.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Military scientist Rydel Scott has discovered time travel. He also believes he's received a message from God. The message: go back in time and save Jesus Christ from being crucified.

When a secret mission involving one of his inventions goes horribly wrong, Rydel obsessively tries to learn what caused the system failure and, in doing so, stumbles upon a physics-bending ability to travel through time.

Overworked and massively sleep-deprived, Rydel believes he has received a message from God—save God’s son. And the man of science embarks on a world-changing quest to rescue Jesus. As he covers his tracks to journey back undetected, he neglects to factor in the consequences of a devastating butterfly effect. And he’s terrified to discover The Unit, a highly-trained team of elite soldiers, is hunting him down to stop him from making choices that could upend all of human history. Will The Unit find Rydel before he alters the past? And, if they find him, can some members of the elite force be persuaded to join Rydel on his mission to save Jesus Christ from the cross?

The work combines science fiction, suspense, thrills, and religious themes. The book captures your attention right away and doesn't let go until the suspense is resolved.

A special arm force unit with several individuals is the subject of the novel.
Top scientist Rydel is one of the team members, and he finds something that can be used for time travel. But switching between shifts seemed risky.Going back in time was causing the present to be destroyed. However, Rydel receives a divine indication that he can utilise his strength to reverse the evils of the past, specifically the crucifixion of Jesus. He makes that decision. However, the unit does not support this very well. They decided to stop and embarked on their mission to stop him. Events turn, splitting the unit nd bringing new elements into the story!. Get your copy today to find out what happens next and whether Rydel was successful or not!
So, if you enjoy reading science fiction and time travel, don't miss this bestseller!

The plot line was fantastic.Narration could have been smoother.Realistic flaws were there in the characters.
Very compelling all around

I actually started reading this just because the description sent of too many alarms. I was surprised to find a quite good action packed book with good character interactions and a horror twist.
I liked the military style and that it took quite some time before we got to know if Rydel was hallucinating due to feelings of guilt and sleep depravation or if he actully got a message from God.

The week parts was some of the tech stuff as well as the abrupt ending.

I thought the concept was intriguing when I read the description. I was hoping that you wouldn't go too far and actually do it! But, the way it turned out was well and good. Blasphemy was not shown. Thanks for the entertaining book!

Interesting view of what happened to Christ

Not sure if or why anyone would want to brush up against the whole story of what happened to Christ, but Mr Hayes pulled it off without changing the true outcome of the Christian life today. Very well done.

The previous review posted here was mistakenly placed under the wrong title. Save Him wins points for its premise which hooked me in but loses as many for not holding me in the suspended disbelief definitely needed to accept that premise. I could not recommend it to anyone who wants a book that climaxes instead of just ending with little warning other than there were no pages left. Is a sequel in the offing? I don’t know. Maybe I don’t care.
