Remington Kane

Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.

Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.

He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.

Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.

The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.

He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.

Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.

By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.

This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.

When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.

Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.

Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.

'Hell For Hire' definitely held a great story line. As with all the books in the 'Tanner Series', this one was also full of creativity. Between the characters and their skills and the scenarios that deal with death. Tanner should not surprise me with his abilities, yet he does. Mr. Kane keeps this series fresh with different characters and their level of skill. There's still a $hit-ton of action and deceit along with descriptive scenery and well written dialogue. This series has definitely earned a spot for one of my favorites. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended.

All in a days work!

This was a thanks to humor, mystery and budding romance and one given a.chance can really blossom. I like the fact that Tanner and Alexa both are.questioning the strange feelings that are experiencing toward Sara and Send. I think ,the friendship between Tanner and Sara might be good and then not so good. A romance I don't think I could approve, it would probably spoil the chemistry. The flow.of the story as usual flowed without a hitch.Good storytelling and a really good getaway.

Good edition. I wonder what will become of Henry...like will he come up again in the future? I think that'd be cool.

Someone made a comment re: Tanner using body armor and how if Tanner was the best, he shouldn't be using it.
I disagree. If it wasn't for Henry, then Tanner would have made the hit as planned. But because things went sideways, he was going into a vipers nest of armed people. Using body armor doesn't make Tanner weak or any less skilled. To me, it makes him smart. He'd be dead if it wasn't for the armor. He didn't have time, after the initial plan failed (not due to his fault, btw), to sit there and come up with some cunning plan to infiltrate or use his mental skills to outsmart them (like he's done in books past). It was do or die, time was ticking. They were alerted to his presence so his only option was to walk into the house with people literally gunning for him. If he would have waited and made some cool plan, then the police would have arrived and the target would have been God knows where. Also, to me, body armor is a tool just like any other. Tanner is not a superhuman with regeneration abilities or something. Using armor when it's needed, doesn't bother me. In real life, our cops, soldiers, Navy SEALs, etc are well trained, yet they still use body armor. It's not a sign of weakness of lack of skill. As I said, it's smart. Tanner may be a badass, but he's not Neo, he can't dodge bullets. LOL. Also, what makes Tanner a great assassin is that no matter how much the odds are stacked against him, he still goes for it. He doesn't back down. Take Mexico and all the times people threw 100 men at him and he persevered. Not everyone is willing or able to do that. It puts him in a different class than some average hired killer.

Hell For Hire ( a Tanner novel #13)

Tanner and Sara are finally getting back to normal after dealing with the Mexican cartel drug Lord. About a year has passed and Tanner is going to work for Burke. His first assignment, take out another bad guy. Problem, he lives on a yacht and Tanner undertakes training on an underwater Seabob with help from Burke's employees. Using the Seabob, Tanner gets on board the yacht, but runs into a trap because he was given up by the CIA mole onboard the yacht. Tanner had rigged the Seabob with C-4 explosives and when they exploded, additional explosions from onboard propane tanks sink the yacht. Tanner kills his target, handcuffs him to a railing and swims back to be picked up by Alexa, Sara and they return to England. Immediately after return, Tanner is tasked to go after another killer. The action is swift, constant and deadly. You'll have to read the full story to get all the details. Thanks for another great read.

Winner

The only down side is the length of the stories. I was also a little surprised on tanners lack professionalism when it came to the sniper hide, it made him look like a rookie. The other item is the body armor, for someone who is supposed to be the best it has saved him on many occasions. The best should use experience and cunning to live not armor.

Hell for hire

Standard Tanner fare but perhaps showing the signs of an author's intent to fire off another book while the market is calling for it. Too a b c in its telling with details that did little except add to the word count. Still interested in others but hopefully there will be more thought put into them .

This series reads very quickly and the plots are usually interesting. This one is OK but not as good as the other Tanner books. The author appears to be moving towards a shake up of the love triangles and that can be a bit tedious.
