To answer these questions and others you may have, read this awesome, motivating book that will get you going. I highly recommend this book. While you are reading this book you will want to change your life for the better.
This book is amazing. She teaches you how to literally change your life by changing 5 habits in your life. It has done wonders for me. Learning more about my relationship with God and the discipline to stay consistent with the daily habits. I am so thankful to have been able to read and take action on this book. It is great and I am even rereading it now!
It’s here and available now! I had the honored to be part of Terri’s team to read and review this book before its release date. Oct 16th.
Terri shared in this book of how by applying five things in her life. She went from being mediocre, living an average life. With no vision for her life. A marriage that is falling apart. Living from paycheck to paycheck. To become successful, living an extraordinary life. Having a clear vision for her life. A healthy, restored marriage. Growing savings account. And, traveling the world as a cheerleader of dreams.
1. Prayer/Meditation 2. Read 3. Exercise 4. Listen to motivation teachings 5. Write and review visions and goals
These five things are what changed her life by being discipline with applying them daily into her life, which turned into daily habits.
In the book, she goes into details of each of these areas explaining the importance of applying them to our lives. How these five things help us to live our God-given dreams. Sharing scriptures in God’s Word of what He says, to validate the significance of these five things.
I have personally seen the significance of these five things in my life, well, more like four of them as I am still working on exercising.
These four things helped me come out of a dark time of my life, back in 2011, It was in a time of being filled with fear, hate, and unforgiveness. With applying the four things in my life aggressively since 2012. I learned of God’s love for me and learned how to love myself and others. I was able to walk in forgiveness. And be ready to face fear with fearless eyes. I was able to have a significant breakthrough in mine and my family life. I also was able to have a dream come true by keeping a vision before me.
You don't have to have these five things done before 8 am. Terri even says so. It's just set up a more fulfilling day if they are done before you start your day. Whenever that is. My husband is a night truck driver, so his day doesn't start until 2 pm.
I highly recommend you to invest in yourself by getting this book and apply these five things in your life making them part of your life as daily habits and see yourself walking toward your God-given dreams and purpose.
Though the book cover says 5 things successful people do before 8 am, the 8 am deadline is not mandatory. The intention of author here is to focus on 5 habits on daily basis that helps you in building a successful life. And if you can complete them before 8 am its a big plus.
Below are the 5 habits that you need to focus on:
1. Pray/Meditate 2. Exercise 3. Read 4. Listen to informative podcasts 5. Write & review your goals
One drawback in this book I felt was too much of emphasis was given on god/spirituality. Its not that I'm atheist but there was one particular example were a person was speaking in studio & decided to quit but god said him not to quit & say something on show which prevented 16 people to commit suicide at that time. Well, honestly i felt that to be unrealistic. I do admit that your vibes, intention or karma plays a role but couldn't digest the above example. Also, there are multiple references of bible which after a point of time i felt are way too much.
I was in a rut a few weeks ago, feeling discouraged and desperate for change. I knew the problem was with my current routine, or lack of it in some ways. So, I reached for the dusty corners of my bookshelf and pulled this out for a re-read. I've reimplemented Foy's principles, found focus in my everyday, and have a clear vision with my future. This book is informational, chock full of Biblical references and teaching, and so encouraging.
Let me tell you the five things Foy says to do every day:
1. Spend time with God. 2. Review your goals and declare your affirmations. 3. Listen to encouraging and edifying teaching 4. Read* 3. Excercise.
*(Specifically non-fiction that you're learning from, not Ali Hazelwood or Holly Jackson, unfortunately. :p I spend this time mostly reading self-help, flute magazines, or writing craft. ;)
Here are a few things to understand about this list: 8 am is subjective. Her point is that you have the most control over your morning, so that is the easiest time to do your habits, but doing your habits anytime with regularity is the point. My work frequently goes late in the evening, so I'm frequently in the midst of my routine until 9 or 10 am. Also, Foy showcases other routines throughout the book, showing that you don't have to do these five specific things, but do something that aligns with your goals and priorities that is helping you grow and live a healthy life. You'll also notice trends among these other routines, such as exercise and quiet time with your thoughts (and God).
Maybe I'm "spoiling" the book, but this quick summary is nothing compared the wealth of knowledge in the book about the why, how, and encouragement about all of this. Happy reading.
I have always been a fan of Terri's. I love her podcast. This is the second book I've read of hers, and I loved it. So much detail and helpful advice. I can feel the love she put into her work. I have notes all over it, and just recently handed it to my oldest daughter to read. I know it will help her like it helped me on my journey. Now to add the last of the 5 things to my routine, exercise.
I have been listening to the Audiobook. I love how simple the advice is yet these are things that can really transform your life if you just become consistent
If you want to take your life to the next level, grab a highlighter a cup of warm tea and spend a few days learning how to apply simple changes to your routine to help you reach your goals. This book is easy to read, easy to follow, and fun to implement. If you are tired of where your life is and looking to make permanent changes this book will help launch you on that path.
I love Terri. I’ve been following her for over a year now. I believe I was meant to have her message in my life. Definitely 5 stars for the message of this book. I don’t have the heart to rate her under 5 stars. However, this book could’ve used another editing. I hate to be critical of stuff like this, but as a court reporter and avid reader, I guess it just comes with the territory. It’s distracting to me to see glaring errors like “effect” instead of “affect” three times. There are commas breaking up sentences where they shouldn’t be. Terri also uses the word “notoriety” twice to describe her positive success.
I would overlook this in another author’s book and would probably just move on and never read anything by them again, but I have the utmost respect for Terri, and like I said, her message has brought about huge changes in my life. I want her books to be perfect through and through.
That being said, I messaged her team on Facebook twice about this and even offered to be a final set of eyes for her in the future for free. I told them I automatically proofread all books anyway. Why not hers? But they weren’t keen on the idea, I guess. They politely and sweetly told me they’ve got this. 😜 I hope they don’t block me. I do mean well. It’s like telling your friend they’ve got spinach in their teeth!
Anyway, the book itself is beautiful. The message is real and honest from Terri. I’ve been getting up every morning and changing my routine. Thank you, Terri, for everything you do! And my offer still stands. LOL!!
… How can you expect to achieve your goals when the first decision you make each morning is to procrastinate...?
Stick to your decisions not your emotions.
Commitment is doing the thing you said you do long after the mood you said it in has left you.
I only write when I’m motivated. I just happen to be motivated every day at 8 AM.
Practice having integrity with yourself.
Don’t prioritize your schedule; schedule your priorities.
What gets scheduled gets done.
Success is the sum of small effort repeated day in and day out.

“The key to your future is finding a vision that imposes self-discipline on you.” Discipline comes from having a clear, compelling vision of what success means to you. Vision simplifies life, controls your choices, and shows you your destination. When your vision is clear, if something doesn’t line up with your idea of success, it’s easier to resist. Page 181.

Next to Imagine Big, this is my favorite Terri Savelle Foy book. (And I've read Imagine Big 4 times!) Now, I'm not an early riser or a morning person, but what I love about this book is that even though the author and she talks about so many successful people who are early risers and morning people....she doesn't ever condemn those of us who aren't. Her main point is getting the "5 Things" habits in place. She is the ultimate cheerleader of dreams, and this book offers nothing less. Inspiration. Practical teaching. Poignant stories and illustrations. But my FAVORITE chapter was on how to stay self-motivated. It literally gave me goosebumps. This is a MUST READ!
I stumbled across this book looking for new self improvement insight. I really enjoyed Terri practical approach and anecdotal references. Halfway through through book I realized the context largely faith based which was fine with me and I think the messages places a respectable distance so other faiths can enjoy the book. Is everything in this book applicable to everyone? no. I will likely never get up at 430 anytime soon because of my unique schedule but I think the message at the end of.the day is these are habits generally successful people have! Beside a few quirks take it grain of salt; I'd recommend giving this book a weekend read .
Thank you Terri so much for your profound and impactful insight in this book. I have tried implementing many different methods of morning routines with little to no success, but from your messages in this book I have stayed more consistent and felt a greater sense of joy in my routine than ever before. I would recommend this book to you if you are ready to take the steps to change your life with a personal accountability to God, yourself, and your destiny. I am confident that my life will never be the same after reading this book. I love the implementation of scripture because it reminds me that my actions are eternal to God and I desire to please Him because of his grace and love for me.
This book literally changed my life. I approach pretty much everything differently now because of what I found here. The title makes it sound like a much narrower topic than what's actually in the book... and (spoiler alert) you don't actually even have to do the stuff before 8am! You don't even have to do all five things. In fact, throughout the book you'll find that different successful people have different five things! But based on the examples and information presented here, you can develop your own new good habits, whether they happen at 6am, 6pm, or whatever time. And it will truly change your life.
This book is for those of us ready to get discipline. This book is for the tired, the hungry the willing to change and the ones willing to put in the work. It gave me the push I needed. When a myriad of people (ordinary people) have done something consistently and are standing on the other side of it, you can’t help but wonder maybe just maybe that could be me too! Consistent Application of knowledge is key and that phrase trickles through the pages of this book! Just do it! One step, one book, one day, one person at a time! - consistently.
What I like about Terri’s book is that the advices she’s given are so simple that it can actually be implemented into your life. What I dislike is the repeat of some of her other books I’ve previously read. I rated 5 stars because only her words speak into my life. Ive read many inspirational/motivational books but only with Terri’s book I was able to implement little changes. Her writing style speaks to the reader, you really do feel Terri is in the room with you and it made such a huge difference.
When I first read this book, I saw dramatic improvements. Even the goalsnI have set at that time were accomplished within a month.. This time around, I asked the Lord to help me with self-discipline because I have fallen into the laziness, procrastination trap once again. So he reminded me to read this book. I just finished reading it and I have to say that, again, it has spoken to my heart. I am back where I am supposed to be creating good habits that produces amazing results. If you want to change you life for the better, I recommend this book 100℅.
I love this book as its full of no nonsense advice
I love this book and its my third of Terri's books as I simply love them as each book is packed with lots of vital information on bettering yourselves via a great coaching mentoring guidance. It is also a great reference to refer back to have at hand. I definitely recommended as it have changed my attitude approach to life and altered my mindset as well. Best wishes Sean
I've read a few of Teri's books and she has similar stories in all of them. She does have an easy to read, encouraging voice/style in her writing which keeps me coming back when I need motivation in my life. This latest book has motivated me to pursue another dream and get back in to a routine.
Really loved this read, inspirational, motivating - I was captivated. Her personality really does come over in the audio book. So much so, I think I will have to subscribe to her podcast.
Very down to earth, real 'pep' talk. I also like the way how she always brings it back to scripture and God's plan for you. Fundamental. So needed to hear this.
This is my second time to read this book, its similar to The Morning Miracle only as written to Christ followers. Terri's writing style is comfortable, as if you are visiting with a girlfriend on the phone. I would encourage anyone to read it any time you feel yourself slipping into less than.productive habits.
This book is power packed and full of words that will ignite you and give you the head start you need to win in life. Thank you Terri for being an example of what God can do with a yielded heart! My life is not the same again. I have created my own daily 6 which I call: CREATE
Very practical applications filled with Biblical wisdom and modern research. Backed by scripture and personal stories, and has a wealth of quotes from many success greats to follow up with ans help continue to grow you toward greater success. Best of Terri's books I've read so far! A mist read whether you're Christian or not!
This is an amazing book, I'm so glad I took the time to read this book, it has really encouraged me to do things that will help me to reach my goals in life. Terri is very loving and compassionate about what she's teaching.
I have listened to this message multiple times on Terri”s YouTube channel, but reading it gave me a fuller experience. The content was digestible and very Inspirational. I bought my friend a copy and I plan to pass this read on to others. Thanks Terri
I liked the book, not my favorite but it has a lot of useful suggestions and good ideas. I believe this book, if followed, could lead a person to success. Seemed like a lot of things were repeated though - other than that I think it's a helpful book.
