Pretend To Be Mine

Rate this book
Dheeraj does not believe in marriage, but given the circumstances, he is not left with much choice. He needs to move fast to make sure everyone around him believes he is getting married for real and to the right woman, even if it’s for only two years.

Anjali never expected a complete stranger to propose a marriage contract as if he were offering her a job with a salary and benefits package, especially the first time they meet. What he offers is tempting enough for her to give in, so she can fulfill her dream and keep the promise she made to a loved one.

For their friends and family, Dheeraj and Anjali are a loving couple who fell in love at first sight, but they both have an agenda. Their reasons for the marriage contract were different, but what they never expected is what happens when two people start living under the same roof pretending to be a couple.

Sparks fly and butterflies flutter between stolen kisses, but when they start to find out more about each other’s reason for the fake marriage, will they still honor the contract? Will love make its way into the contract as a clause?

Note: This is a stand-alone romance with a passionate couple who finds their HEA. This book is recommended for mature readers.

A book that started as a marriage contract between Dheeraj and Anjali and ended up as an alluring love story between them very much in the way P.G. Van got us used to. Could hardly put it down. One more best seller by this author.

REVIEW

Pretend to be mine is a stand alone romance novel written by P.G Van. The plot revolves around a couple who are married to each other on contract basis and love has nothing to do with their marriage. Both of them have their own reasons to step into this marriage contract but as they start spending a lot of time together, they realize their marriage is after all not merely for the sake of contract. But, will uniting and acquiring the happily-ever-after be easy-peasy cake walk ?

P.G Van has a way of hijacking the readers from the reality in a jiffy and transport them to this rose tinted lovey-dovey land of love. This book would be a perfect escapade for anyone who wants to disappear from the reality and have some good time. Even if you are someone who hates cliche kinda love stories and romance novels, you can’t help but fall in love with this author’s writing style and romance filled plot-line.

The lack of logical interpretation and realism is the only thing that the author needs to work on because even though the book feels like a fantasy every girl in the world would long for, a bit logic in the plot-line will elevate the book and the author to the next level in the field of literature.

The characters in the book was extremely like-able, the character development was good. Both the characters had their own backstories, Dheeraj’s character and his background was done so wonderfully whereas Anjali’s backstory could have been better, her story felt seriously unnatural. The flow was also smooth. The conflict in the book could have been a bit more strong and compelling because it was said in the subtle manner that it didn’t feel personal and more or less the medium of conflict felt a bit unreasonable.

There was this steamy hot connection between the lead characters, it was nice but it indeed something was lacking and couldn’t put a finger on it. The plot twist in the middle of the book was really fantastic. There was this other main character in this book who didn’t has much role to be played but their mere presence in book help the book develop in such a matured and enjoyable way. And also their presence defined the lead characters’ mentality, mindset and personality a lot more. Couldn’t afford say a lot about this character because that would definitely be a spoiler.

MY VIEWS

I have only read one short story by the author and I already like her way of story telling. P.G Van’s stories are like an escapism for me from the realities and her books does a better job in that area than anything else could possible do.

The book was unstoppable and very interesting to read.

This book would be a nice piece of entertainment, very suitable for people to read when they are travelling or something (since COVID situation is going on that wouldn’t be possible) In that case, you can go ahead with this book if you are having a crappy day because it would lift your mood in a jiffy. It felt like watching a good movie.

My rating for this book would be 3.2 out of 5 stars

I liked this book, a good source of entertainment!!

Happy Reading folks!!

I wanted to like it, and it was an interesting premise, but the writing was clunky and felt unpolished. Every conversation went: He said "this" and it made her feel this. All telling, no showing. It got very frustrating and I dnf'd after 20%

I couldn't put down the book like all other P G Van's books. Dheeraj and Anjali have a beautiful story.

Poor narration of a good story.

Though the theme of the story is good, the style n vocabulary is very poor. Expected better from P G VAN.

Ok I started to read.

I am going to "spoiler it" while I read it. In case something shock me, I will write it too...😇

It is better than remember what I liked and didn't. 🫣

For now we have desperate main H who needs to marry someone.😬

I don't know why and why he choosed main h.🤗🫣🤫

Buuuuuut I love that even before he told her about this potencial marriage, he started his research about her, telling how "In love is for WEEKS." 🫠

And she know him like for a day... 😘

I don't like this stories when they marry like...tomorrow 🤪

So, good for him, thinking ahead

------

Ok, I am in the mood to write about the story...🤐

So, we have main h with wery complicated name and main H same.😆

He is - in the first chapter, like real alpha. 🥵

Like "you need to be my wife...or I will destroy you..." vibe....🫢

But he is just a sweetheart one chapter later and I am like gggggg 😀🙄

I like sweethearts, but come on...He changed his personality like...🫰

It starts with him giving a main h a contract...To be his public wife.

Why her? We have here this " if she will find out why, she will leave me vibe...."🙄

But ehm...

Maybe some women would. 🤔

He married her, told her he will give her a lot money...and we find out that he has a baby girl which is his dead sister...🤔

And he needs to look serious. Someone who KNOWS how to take care of babies...

Someone with WIFE. 😎

WHY SHE?🤔

The baby was prematured and she was one of the nurse who loved and took care about babies....🙈🙉🙊

If she will not be "the mother matherial " then no one else can...right? 🖤

Well...I guess it was not a bad plan....🤔

But assuming she will leave him when she finds out about a baby?🫠

Please....👶

She needed his money, she would not leave...

They have this "words" contact for two years.

YEAH, I believe you will not go and divorce me after a month...😇

And take half of my money...🤑

No no no 😇

What I don't like right now:

They ALWAYS WINKS at each other. 👀👀👀👀👀 Who does that? 🙄

She or he could smile, nod, tell and go somewhere else...🤝

But they are winking ALL THE TIME.🙏

It feels imature and I don't like it. 🙅‍♀️

I would prefer to be something else to be a reason to marry...

Like REVENGE 🤪🫣

---

I am bored .... 🫣 Don't know if I want to continue reading...🤪

Main h has a lot of money as inheritence, but she HAS TO give someone a LOT OF MONEY to get it? 🤨 And when she gave this money to this person, he is like "Ok, I will give you your money...but you need to move back..."

Who is this diiii? 🤨🤯

Maybe brother? Don't know, but it is WEIRD to buy your own money...

Ehdbdudhebdufisowne 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

So she is like "I can not fall in love...what if I would need to go back? I can not tell main H..."

Right. You can not tell your husband who hired you as a nanny to his baby girl, that you will leave?👍🫶👏

No problem here...💅

Zero.

Ggggg. I should not start this review "while I read it think"... 😵‍💫

-----

It starts to be sweet. Like MEGA CUTE SWEET and I HATEEEEEEE IT!

It is completely diferrent story. 😀 they are together for few monts and he knows that she will be FOREVER his.

Buys and named a HOSPITAL after the name of her grams.

Like he KNEW that it was her dream.

Like PSYCHO MIND READING MUCH? 🤪🧞‍♀️🧚‍♀️

--------

Completely bored. I am done with this book.

I red the epilog, I know it would be HEA, but ggggg...

They wink at each other even in the epilog....

I skiped like...five chapter. It was boring af!

And when I skip...

My stars are like 1.5...

The end 🤪

Pretend to be mine is a powerful story with powerful characters. Like the name suggests, it is based on contract marriage. The plot was beautifully written and could easily be read by anyone. Dheeraj and Anjali's spark is too much that I can feel it. There is a hidden secret, and when the mystery begins to reveal it, it surprises me even more. What I discovered in the end is quite different from other books. This book gripped me until the end, giving me a wonderful, unique story to read.

I have been reading Indian authors' books for a while now. What caught my attention was the title. The summary didn't interest me much but the writers' writing style got me hooked to the book in first few pages itself. I couldn't put down the book. Wanted to know more of what is happening in Dheeraj & Anjali life. The twists, the plot, the storyline is amazing. Though I hardly read romance fiction, but this one I loved it. An easy read !!

This was my first romantic novel to read . Its a story about 2 strangers with different concept towards life . First person who is totally against marriage and very dedicated towards his business(rich) , and the other person who is very simple and have a job in hospital with a dream of her grandma .

It’s a good read but very much predictable. Good narration but characters like Surya were uncalled for. This book is ok for one time read.

This one’s a guilty pleasure of mine because of how soft and sweet it is. It’s also horribly written, and has little to no plot so don’t go in expecting a literary feast.
