Argeneau #30

Immortal Born

Rate this book
Listening length: 9 hours, 32 minutes

A simple promise to protect her friend’s infant son has turned Allie Chambers’ existence upside down. Caring for—and feeding—an orphaned vampire baby has been tricky enough. But as little Liam grows, so does his appetite. He needs more blood than she can personally supply. And when her attempts to steal from a blood bank go awry, Allie wakes up surrounded by doctors, cops…and the gorgeous, mesmerizing Magnus, who she can neither trust nor resist.

Magnus never expected to find his life mate breaking into a blood bank. Clearly, Allie is already entwined with his world—in deeper, more dangerous ways than she realizes. A band of vicious rogue immortals is in pursuit, and Magnus’ first task is to keep her safe. His second: to awaken her to mind-blowing pleasure, and hope she’ll accept the life, and the passion, that only he can offer.

Great Immortal Romance, can be read as a stand-alone!

I really liked this book from start to finish. This was the 30th book in the Argeneau series and the first one that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it without feeling like I missed anything at all in not reading any of the previous books in the series.

There was plenty of background information given to explain what was going on and it was done in a way that completely fit in with the story and didn’t feel like added spots of background information just dumped in to inform readers new to the series.

The two main characters were Magnus, an immortal that has been alive since the late 700’s A.D. and Allie who is mortal, but is his potential life mate. She is also the adoptive mother to an immortal boy named Liam from her neighbor and best friend.

The book (or series for that matter) has a different origin story for Vampires or Immortals as they are called. They don’t like it when they are referred to as Vampires. Which is pretty funny in the story.

“He will not burst into flames under the sun. The boy is an immortal, not one of your mythical vampires.”

Though they have different origins, and have a few other differences, the fact that they get so offended is pretty silly considering they must be the origin of the Vampire myths. Especially since some of them have been around since more than 1300 B.C. and they do have fangs and drink blood to survive. Plus they are very strong, have super speed, and can heal from just about any injury.

The romance between Magnus and Ally is very sweet as well as sizzling hot. It seems newly mated couples can’t get enough of each other and their passion is overwhelming. There is also a storyline surrounding Liam, how Ally got him and rogue immortals after her that is very suspenseful.

Overall the book was a terrific paranormal romance. It was a very believable story with a an awesome origin to the immortal race. I plan to read more of these books because I liked this one so much!

I have always loved Lyndsay Sands writing! Whether it be her paranormal stories or her historical romances, she always writes an entertaining story with a ton of humour that makes me laugh out loud every time! The situations that she puts her characters in are ones either I can relate too, or something that is maybe a little over the top but hilarious!

This book is the 30th instalment in the Argeneu series that features her sexy vampires! I have read the first 14 or so books a long time ago but had no problem picking this one up and reading it as a stand-alone! I did recognize quite a few of the secondary characters from past books; but it wasn’t essential to have knowledge of who everyone was in order to understand what was going on. I had read the blurb for this instalment and wanted to read it right away!

I highly recommend this book, as well as this series! In fact, I am now wanting to go back and catch up on all of the books I’ve missed!!! These reads are sexy, romantic, and so very funny! A great read to take you out of the stress of everyday life!😬

I dipped my toes back into the Argeneau world and it reminded me why I both loved & gave up on this series. The wonderful thing is how comforting it is to see all the characters that we've met over the course of the series. The downside is that the individual books/plots get way too bogged down in paying fan service by letting us see all those characters hanging out rather than telling a compelling narrative in that specific book. Still, this was a pleasant way to spend some time and I thought the set up was one of the more interesting ones that the series has had for a while

I once re-heated up a potato in the microwave. It was delicious and I devoured it. THAT potato & I had more of a story and passion than %80 of Lyndsay Sands Immortal Born!
Seriously, the book was SO extensively full of boring, minor details that it ruined the bigger picture that would’ve been possible. There were like 30? pages or maybe 100 is what it felt like; about them all sitting around a table and eating omelets, drinking tea/water etc. blah blah blah...I mean, COME ON! *facepalm*
I struggled to get through this book and honestly just skimmed over the parts with the over-detail. I did like the grit of Allie and initially was drawn to purchase this book because of her story with Liam. However Sands ruined whatever could’ve been by the tedious, constant onslaught of details about things that didn’t really matter to the plot....Additionally there were SO many extra characters being constantly introduced that it made my head spin! You never really know who tf she is talking about unless you really concentrate on all the sub-stories and even then I’m like wait, who is she talking about or introducing now?! uggh.
Magnus was totally under represented as a character. I wanted to like him but I just didn’t have enough information about him. He was kinda like this big, hulking guy in the background willing to be a lifemate....ummm, OK I need MORE of a story about him and less about all the damn women in the town or the details about apple cider, bed and breakfasts and who is tobogganing. It was like these “immortals” were in upstate Vermont with Bing Crosby and Danny-Fkin’-Kaye having a hot cocoa and building snowmen instead of getting on with the damn story!
DON’T even get me started on their first sexual encounter....OMFG wHo talks about their daddy issues and horrible life while trying to keep a dude “excited.” The entire talking during the trying-but-not-trying to have sex dealio was #1 NOT sensual AT ALL and #2 even I lost my girl-erection reading it.
Bottom line: HUGE disappointment. Save yourself money folks.

And I will not be reading anymore of this series.
After reading 30 books in it, they have become way to repetitive. Lack enough suspense and action to keep me interested. Even the sex scenes are highly repetitive.

So, after years of reading this series, we come to the end of my journey with them.

Allie made a promise to her immortal neighbor that she would take care of her son if the people who were after her showed up, so when they did and the neighbor's house exploded after she was given the baby to take care of, she believed the mother to be dead. Now she had to take care of a vampire baby with no help.

Magnus is an immortal (Think vampire but they call themselves immortal's) and he thinks Allie might be his mate, so when she's arrested for breaking into a blood bank, he checks it out.

Allie hit her head during the robbery to get blood for little Liam so the officers wanted her to spend the night in the hospital but she escaped to go home, get Liam and move to a new location where the vampires couldn't find them. But the bad vampires (rogues) are waiting at her house and try to kidnap her until Magnus and his friend save her and Liam. While it's not how he wanted to introduce himself to her at least she knows he's one of the good guys.

Allie isn't sure what to make of Magnus and his friends. She isn't sure she can trust them at first and some of them do come on too strong and make her uncomfortable with their questions about Liam and how she got him but the women were there to make it easier for her and explain things better than the men were doing. Magnus and the others realize that Allie and Liam are in danger once she tells them the name of the rogue that Liam's mother had told her had been keeping her and Liam's father captive when she escaped. It's then that Allie realizes how much danger she and Liam have been in but Magnus and the others assure her that she's safe now as long as she stays with them. I'm not sure I would have believed everything and felt safe with them at first either but they all did a good job of making her trust them.

When the bad guy does finally come after her like I knew he would, Magnus and the others go out looking for her and to find the bad guy to get rid of him once and for all, since they knew about him and have been looking for this person for a while.

I've been reading this series for some time so I really liked that we get to see some of the other characters that have been in the series. It's nice to get a look at how some previous characters are doing while reading a long series.

I really enjoyed this book and liked that there was action right from the near beginning of the book. The pace was good and kept me reading, wondering what would happen next. I really liked Magnus and Allie together and liked the fact that they didn't fall for each other really fast, that it took a little time for her to fall for him.

Miss Sands has found a way to make Immortal Born a fresh new installment in the Argeneau Series..
With the added plus of getting to visit with so many characters from past stories. I adore getting a visit from family 😁.
Allie is a strong independent woman who survived a tragic childhood and will do anything for the people she loves, including raising her best friends son. Living a life of constant moving to keep him safe.
Until one night she is attacked by the bad guys who have been stalking her for years. They are unexpectedly rescued by a group of Enforcers including Magnus who has just flown across the world to see if she truly is his lifemate he has been waiting for all of his 1200 years.

This is an entertaining, well-written, steamy, paranormal romance. It has likable, engaging characters, a heart-warming romance, and a happily ever after ending. It contains descriptions of the immortal world, which allow it to stand alone, however, it is best read in order as there are numerous interactions with characters from previous novels. The new twist on life mate sex makes it an excellent addition to M. Sands' outstanding Argeneau series. The audible version of this novel has a fabulous narrator!

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Avon in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Immortal Born is the newest installment of the Argeneau series and its book #30 and I can hardly believe how big this series has grown over the years and even though I wouldn’t say that Immortal Born is my favorite of the series, I had such a fun time in reading this one here. It’s a bit different for sure, and I am please with this author in how she is able to develop this series in the way that she has and giving some new set ups that she hasn’t ever done before.

Immortal Born is a story that starts off with a prologue (must read this, I know that not all reader like reading this but its pretty essential to the story) where we see the beginning of Allie and Liam. Allie Chambers made friends with a young woman “Stella” who had a infant son but then one evening Stella came to Allie to take her son and Stella was then killed in a house fire. But there were evil men after Allie, and her life has been turned upside down protecting Liam who she considers her son. But the rogues keep finding them and then she is rescued by a group of Immortals who have been hunting these rogues, but there is one Immortal that she is drawn to more than the others...Magnus.

Magnus has lived for many centuries and never hoped for a life mate but was pleased to find Allie but now his life mate is in danger along with her son Liam. But there is a enemy out there gunning for Allie and wanting to take Liam to mold into something evil and Magnus will do whatever it takes to keep that from happening. With the aid of other Immortals, Allie is brought into the fold and their enemy is stronger than ever and Magnus wonders if he can protect those he loves from such evil….

Immortal Born is a catchy title but is really true in how it portrays the story that is proved in depths here. I did have a fun time with this story, and Lynsay Sands truly knows how to work a story in all the best ways. This was a bit different in that we have a mortal heroine who is taking care of a immortal child and only knows a little bit of Immortals, and has no idea what is ahead of her. There was such edgy thrills that delivers this book with such a punch and you really are on the edge from beginning to end.

The romance between these two is what I truly struggled with, it felt almost forced and I just didn’t feel the chemistry between these two here. I would have liked too for sure, but it just wasn’t there in the way that I was hoping for. It almost felt like an arranged marriage feel to the story and you don’t really feel much emotion until the very end so it was lackluster in the ways that I really look forward to in a romance. A solid story overall but a bit disappointing in other areas.

Overall I found Immortal Born to be a story filled with thrills, adventure, spicy sexiness and the writing as enthralling as ever

Let's be real. This read more like a book about Allie and Stella then Allie and Magnus.
*shakes heads*

No. Just no. I mean I'm all for a solid backstory but I need it to stay in the back!
It completely overshadowed the actual plot. And don't even get me started on the "romance" Ugh.

Immortal Born by Lynsay Sands is book 30 in the Argeneau Series. This is the story of Allie and Magnus. I did feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Allie has been left the care of a orphaned vampire baby named Liam. But her attempts to keep the growing baby feed is not working so she thinks to break into a blood bank. The next thing she knows she wakes up with people around her asking questions. Magnus never thought he would find his mate breaking into the blood bank but it does give him the knowledge that she is already in the know of vampires. It doesn't take Magnus long to claim what he feels is his but of course nothing goes easy.
I am such a fan of Ms. Sands writing! I have loved everything I have read of hers.

Revoltingly stupid and no it can't be read as a stand alone unless you don't mind loosing all the threads, hints and backstory.
It's boring, absurd and really really stupid. Characters made no sense and were given personal stories that were then ignored.
There were thousands of people about whom you couldn't care less and were mostly noise.

I was excited while reading this book to see that it revisits Port Henry and the characters from my very favorite book The Accidental Vampire.

The book synopsis gives you all of the important information, but what it fails to let you know is just how exciting this book really was, how convoluted the bad guys became and how sexy this read was going to be in thought and in the deed!

I also loved the fact that there was no cliff hanger the story was complete .

The only thing I am very unhappy with is that these newer books lack the humor and lightness of many of Ms. Sands's older books in this series.

I am also unhappy to realize that I am missing a lot of the books in this series so I am going to have to do a lot of buying of backlisted books! Poor me, right?!

Well, as usual, I give this one five stars because I’m a fan. Bear that in mind. I will always give five stars to these books. Maybe I do a disservice to Lynsay by doing that but I’m sure she can handle it. I always get five stars worth of enjoyment out of these books. It’s a little like indulging in your favorite comfort food or going to your grandparent's house. That’s how these stories feel to me. I think you really need to have read the earlier books to properly appreciate this one.

I was a little late to the game with this one. I think it’s because the forum on the author’s website is gone. That used to keep me up-to-date on when the next book was coming out. Been pretty distracted these days.

I enjoyed Allie and Magnus’s story. As usual, there is an interesting twist to it all to keep it interesting. In this case, there’s a little boy to protect and a family to build. This is appropriate since, in the end, that’s what these books are really about, family. In this one we got to touch base with more of that extended family, to see how some of the characters from past books are doing. I love that about this series.

At the beginning of the story, it seems that Magnus as already been tipped off by Marguerite that Allie was most likely his lifemate. We don’t hear any more about that, and I can’t remember if there was any mention of it at the end of the last book. Marguerite was in it. I suppose Marguerite just spotted her out shopping or something. Stephanie isn’t the only one in these books with a special gift.

I love my visits to Port Henry. My favorite book in this series is The Accidental Vampire. Elvi’s story.

Lucian is still a hard SOB. Good for him.

Mabel is always fun.

Speaking of Stephanie, things seem to be getting more worrisome than ever for her. I guess the threat here is that all these extra abilities might mess her up good and she’ll end up as a crazy no-fanger after all. I wonder if she can see her own possible futures. I suspect not. The answer probably lies with her future lifemate. She needs her own book soon.

Along with the lifemate boom, there is a baby boom. I guess that makes sense.

I knew there was a tracker in the necklace. Everything pointed to it and it was frustrating that they needed Stephanie’s superpower to find it. Someone has to tell these people that they’re in a story so they can follow the clues given by the author.

I found it odd that they should mention that Allie had an incredibly rare blood type and then not have it be important to the plot somehow. I was sure when this “golden blood” came up that it implied a promise that it would be important later. Maybe later in the series?

I hate nitpicking, but Allie is chained down when she starts her turn. When she wakes up the chains are gone. I know she can’t still be chained for the scene to work, but it would’ve been good to mention that, somewhere along the way, someone removed the chains when she was past the point of needing them. Otherwise, it just looks like an oversight. I had to stop and tell myself that someone had removed them and move on.

For a guy who’s been making trouble for more than twenty-seven hundred years, Abaddon seems to have had a bad week. Maybe the whole lifemate thing put him off his game. If I had been him, a bit of a stretch since I’m not a murderous psychopath, I wouldn’t have wasted all that cannon fodder on a diversion, I would have sent them in with a frontal assault to grab the kid. It seems to me that, with the element of surprise, that would’ve had a much better chance of success. Perhaps he simply feared the enforcers so much that it messed with his head.

Speaking of messing with someone’s head, when Allie’s father came up, I was wondering if Abaddon or one of his minions had plucked that out of Allie’s head and gone and found and turned him in order to mess with hers. It seems like the sort of thing they would do. Turning a religious fanatic into a kind of vampire which sure mess with him.

Speaking of Allie’s background, when it came up I found it to be a very interesting coincidence because the previous book that I had just read was Educated by Tara Westover. If you like biographies about people who overcome terrible childhoods, you will definitely be rooting for the author in that one.

Fun and interesting fact: Lindsey actually wrote a scene in this book that comes pretty close to the cover picture, at least on the one I read. Usually, the cover is just some generic picture of the man’s muscular torso which, in romance novel cover-code, indicates that there are lady-thrills inside. I tend to skim that part myself since I’m no lady. All covers like that do for me is show me the kind of torso I will never have.

When Allie was snatched by the bad guys, I doubt many of us were surprised. I doubt Lynsay expected many of us to be surprised. There’s something comfortably familiar about being snatched by the bad guys and then finding a way to rescue yourself. Originality is overrated in my opinion. There is nothing new under the sun. I’ve seen books ruined by overzealous attempts to be original. Tell a good story and they will come.

I guess it was appropriate that Basha should show up long enough to bash Abaddon. This was definitely a take-care-of-old-business sort of situation. Lynsay’s good for that sort of thing.

All in all, as usual, I very much enjoyed another visit to the world of science-based immortals. It has its own special magic. I’m looking forward to where Lynsay will take us next. Will the evil Dr. Dressler finally get his reckoning? Will the Brass Circle stir up more trouble? Will there be an entirely new villain? Whatever it turns out to be, it’s bound to be entertaining. Keep up the good work, Lynsay, and don’t make us wait too long for Stephanie’s story.

Where was the usual Sans character chemistry?? I really enjoyed Allie and Mangus as individuals, but the bad guy and his lifemate had more chemistry than the main couple, and that’s just sad. The story was entertaining, if anticlimactic. I was really looking forward to this one and it, unfortunately, fell flat in the romance department.

It was fun seeing the whole crew back together, but it took more page time from Allie and Mangus, and TBH, they needed all the page time they could get with their lack of any sexual tension. I’m still a fan of the series, but I know Ms. Sans can do better. Especially because I loved the synopsis and I know this story could have been great.

I have been provided with a review copy of Immortal Born through Edelweiss for an impartial review. This is the thirtieth book in the Argeneau series and I didn’t think after thirty books in one series that you could come up with something new to say or a completely new storyline to take place. Well I was proven wrong this was just such a great book and I was just pleasantly surprised with this new story. I really enjoyed getting to meet these new characters and get to go along on their journey. I just had so much fun reading this story and the mix of new characters and old characters was just perfect and I just didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

I've never read any of this series before, but this worked well as a standalone. There were a bunch of secondary characters that I didn't know, but it didn't hurt the story or make it difficult to follow.

I was drawn to this book by the idea of a human adopting a vampire baby. I really liked the vampire mythos in the book, it was different. The main and secondary characters were fun and interesting. I didn't sense a lot chemistry between the main characters, but they were both very sweet.

The writing was alright, but I didn't love it. Plot points and dialog were often repeated a few times, in a way that felt like spoon-feeding. The dialog was also pretty corny.

There were some silly parts to the story, but overall it was fun. This was my first Lynsay Sands book and I would read something else by her, if the story was right.

I listened to this on audiobook and the narrator was really good. I do have some trouble connecting with a story when I listen to it (as opposed to reading it), so maybe take this review with a grain of salt. :)

I know I start off my reviews about the Argeneau series the same but, this is the 30th book in the Argeneau series and I am amazed that there aren’t plot repeats. Now, was this one of my favorites? Unfortunately, no. After following the series for so long and loving all the Argeneau’s, there were errors that really stood out. Also, it felt like there was a lot of filler in this story just to get it from point A to point B. I was thrilled with the story line and with the characters but, after so many books, you would think that there would be a way to check to make sure everything was correct.
Allie was fearless throughout the story. She came to terms, immediately, with her fate because she would do whatever she had to do to protect Liam. She didn’t expect that she would fall in love through it all.

Magnus was skeptical that Allie was his life-mate but made the trip to America to find out. As soon as he saw her, he knew. Now, he has to protect her and get her to understand that there is a difference between Vampires and Immortals. She got it quicker that he thought she would and she accepted it better than some others. Now, he had to explain life-mates and exactly what it would mean to them. But, there isn’t much time for that. He’s in love and she’s gone. Now, it’s time to get her back and show her exactly what she’s in for, for eternity. I enjoyed the story as long as I overlooked the errors and I had no choice but to skim over some parts of the book that seemed repetitive. But, Lynsay Sands knows how to weave a story … she knows when to bring in the humor, how to bring the drama to it’s height and then bring us a fun and beautiful happily-ever-after. Allies’ and Magnus’ story was fresh, new and special.

Setting: Toronto, Canada Contemporary
Genre: Paranormal, suspense, rom-com

Allison was given care of vampire baby Liam by her neighbor, who immediately committed suicide by explosion. For the 4 years since then, she has been moving place to place, one step ahead of the nest of vampires Liam’s mother had escaped from. The only thing Allie knows about vampires is that they survive on blood, so she has been feeding the child from her own veins for four years. Finally, desperate - and anemic - she takes a job at a blood bank. As the story opens, Magnus has come from England because Marguerite Notte has found a possible life-mate for him, only to find that Allie has been arrested for attempting to burgle her place of employment.
The plot is focused on convincing Allison that vampires are called immortals, and most of them are good, as well as keeping her and little Liam safe. There is a rather extended visit with characters from previous entries in the series when they hide in the town of Port Henry where many of the couples had relocated. But you do not need to read those to enjoy this one.
I “consumed” this book via audiobook and enjoyed the experience. I have purchased all the other books in the series on audio, but returned many of them due to the poor quality of the narration. This production, however, is performed by Amanda Ronconi. I am familiar with her work with several Audible productions of Molly Harper’s series, most of which I enjoy immensely. She does not do a good British accent, and I am pleased to say that she did not even attempt it with Magnus (he wasn’t originally from Britain, and had in fact lived many different places). The performance was definitely 4.5 stars, the story is also 4.5, and in Kym math, that’s a solid 5.

Allie Chambers’ has discovered that her next door neighbor is more than she appears. Allie believes her neighbor and infant son are vampires. Even though she believes them vampires, she has become an intregral part of their lives. But when Liam, the baby, is left in her care she does everything she can to keep him safe and fed…even if it kills her.

Magnus never expected to find his life mate. So the shock of discovering her robbing a blood bank for an immortal child…he’s quite frankly shocked. Now, he must do everything in his power to protect the woman that was meant for him from vicious rogues.

Allie did everything humanly possible to raise a child not her own. She would fight to the death to protect him when she is completely out of her league. What’s not to love a woman with that much conviction…absolutely nothing comes to mind, Allie was great.

Magnus bonds quickly with both Allie and Liam and considers Liam his own to protect just as much as Allie. Again, amazing guy all around even if he is a little archaic in his thinking.

Now onto the good stuff…HOLY HOTNESS, Sands writes a sizzling romance, amazing characters and a story that will touch your heart.

Thirty books in and the Argeneau series is still going strong.

I received this ARC copy of Immortal Born from HarperCollins -Avon. This is my honest and voluntary review. Immortal Born is set for publication September 4, 2019.

Sometimes the couple set up gets a bit old in a series this long, but with this book there is a fresh take, something I appreciated. Allie was interesting, knowing just enough about this world to be in danger and dangerous at the same time. Meeting the Argeneau gang was just what she needed to help her with Liam and to keep them both safe.

As Allie had a clue about vampires, learning about immortals didn't phase her too much. I liked that she didn't jump into a relationship with Magnus, in fact I found it funny that she had to be talked into it. By going slow both of them were able to know that they wanted to be with the other, helping build a strong foundation for their family.

I loved the bit at the end, one where Port Henry seems to be going through a population explosion.

Love this addition to the Argeneau family!!

Allie is amazing, with her willingness to step up and be mom to Liam and her mama bear is on point.

Marcus, an amazing hero, he is so excited to have a life mate but he is willingly to wait for Allie to accept a whole new world.

Their story is exciting and full of the whole family of Argeneau's, yes it can be read as a stand alone but it is fun to see characters from pervious books!!

This was okay, it was my first story from the author and maybe if i had read the others in the series, i would have enjoyed the book more. it was generally okay, but i don`t think i`d read it again. Allie was likeable and so was Liam, but the others felt bland and it was many to keep track of that kind of just came and went.

I have not read any Argeneau books in awhile, but I picked up a few for quick & breezy summer reading. This was not my favorite Argeneau book. I did not feel there was a real connection between Allie & Magnus and there was definitely not a lot of romantic sparks between the two. This would be one book to not judge by its cover. LOL!!! It is light on the romance & felt more like a family reunion, buddy read. Perhaps it was a "place filler" in the series the author needed to fill in some plot holes.

I love this series. When I read the synopsis I was very excited. I knew that this book was going to be great. What I was not expecting was the time shift. There are a couple of things that happened within this book that surprised me.

There are a lot of people from Port Henry that I have forgot. I think this book should have been maybe set released during the Port Henry miniseries. I thought this book was going to be more about the random vampire we were introduced in The Trouble With Vampires. With that book it still had that evil doctor still looming in the background. This book just doesn't seem to fit within this timeline. It's a good book but just off in the timeline.

I did enjoy seeing all of the old people from Port Henry even if I did forget a lot of them. When I remembered the book that they were in I was 100% committed. I loved the relationship between Magnus and Allie. They fact they did not fall insta in love was a plus. I liked how Magnus allowed Allie to want to be with him and not force her into a marriage. I also enjoyed all of the kids that were introduced.

Another good things about this books is that a villian from way back is no longer in the background. I guess we will see if the Argeneau clan and co can stop the doctor.

Immortal Born was another adventurous installment in Lynsay Sands’ long-running Argeneau series which kept me enthralled from page one with its danger, and the wonderful examples of compassion and selflessness.

It’s pretty incredible that at book thirty in the Argeneau series I’m still entertained by the characters, and that the overall story arc continues to be interesting and engaging. But I think that’s something that Lynsay Sands does well with any of her series I’ve read, no matter the genre. Her writing remained solid, with the world she’s created for the Argeneaus as complicated and detailed as we’ve come to expect and in this case, the level of intrigue still just as exciting as ever. WOW, book #30? Who would have thought ? I have to say again that I miss those laugh out load earlier books that I loved so much, these newer books are more drama and violence with a dash of passion thrown in but they are still entertaining but in a much different fashion.

In this one Allie and Magnus are the lucky couple and there is a bit of a twist to this story that has not been used before (I say this because many of these newer books are somewhat similar) and it played well although there was still a place or two I had to wonder if the author was getting tired and took a shortcut.

So while this recent series of stories have been entertaining they will never rise to the 5 Star level of those original stories that had so much fun and laughter while still maintaining some intrigue.

Bottom line: A solid 4 Star novel that was enjoyable even though it was a bit predictable in a couple of places but had some new twists also that I enjoyed so I give it 4 Stars but I love the series, for those less biased than I it might slip down to 3.5 Stars. It was still an enjoyable reading experience and I still love this family

Life has never been simple for Allie Chambers, but it's just become much more complicated by her need to fulfill her promise to care for her friend's now orphaned son. Babies are hard enough, but he's an immortal baby and as he begins to need more blood than Allie can provide him herself, she gets desperate and tries to rob the blood bank where she works. She wakes up surrounded by police and two detectives she recognizes as immortals and instantly fears, though one of them, Magnus, she finds instantly and strangely compelling.

Magnus is thrilled to finally have a potential life mate. He never expected an attempted felon, but it soon becomes apparent that Allie has more dangerous ties to the immortal world than even she knew. Now Magnus must keep her safe from the rogue immortals pursuing her and her son as well as convince her to take a chance on loving and trusting another person and accepting the passion she'll only find with him.

This book was a light and fun read in parts and equally suspenseful in others. I had a hard time keeping all the characters straight at times, but I loved all the family and friends coming together and the homey family vibe this book had because of it. That said, the homeyness did take away from the steaminess of it and made Magnus and Allie's relationship take a bit of a backseat at times. This was far from my usual romance jam, but I continue to be charmed by this series and want more of it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

Too much catch up

I normally love Argeneau novels but this one wasn’t my favorite. It was okay but there was about 70% educating the reader about all things immortal beings and maybe 30% relationship/action. And I think I’m being generous with the 30%. I didn’t really get any real “feels” from the main couple either. I will still check out the next one in the series because maybe this was just a fluke.
