My brother is the cipher and the three demons are using him. I'm struggling to keep Jared safe despite the huge culture shock of Hell.
But Jared doesn't want to be protected, and it's hard to let go.
I can't decide whether Xeres, Vickal and Sylver are on our side or not. Logic tells me I should be more careful with them, but they make me reckless, or maybe it's because I've always been a reckless individual. When we lose the cipher, we're all on the same quest to get Jared back.
Hidden players are manipulating the happenings in Hell, and they're all trying to steal away what's dear to me.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review - thank you!
Couldn't do this anymore.
I'm not into M/M, which this book has. The characters were starting to all blur together for me - I couldn't remember the difference between Xeres and Vickal anymore, which is a bad sign, and I just had no interest in the rest of their story. Shame, since I love Clara's other series.
Valerie, Jared and her three demons are back. They have succeeded in returning to Hell, but not without some suffering. Sylver was seriously hurt and is now being healed. Valerie herself is recovering from overusing her newly discovered powers, but she’s on the mend faster than Sylver. The demons still seek to acquire the orb and so they are intent on doing what is necessary with Jared to make it happen. The time for secrets all around will be coming to an end sooner than expected though. The relationship between the twins will be tested and the question will arise…can they come back from this? Prepare for some intense moments ahead! Depths of Hell by Clara Harley are book two in her Secrets of the Fallen series. I like how this book picks up where book one leaves off. I enjoy the character development in this book. Valerie has had a less than pleasant life trying to take care of herself and her brother, but she’s about to have to start learning to let go. I understand that Valerie wants to take care of her brother because he’s her brother and her twin, but I’m surprised that he hasn’t tried to shake her sooner. I like how both Valerie and her brother are so unique. They exhibit demon abilities and angel abilities as well. I have to say that for me, this book is more engaging than the first. The storyline ebbs and flows, but it has some really great parts that keep you on the edge of your seat. I like the twists and surprises that the author gives the reader as well. Though if you are paying attention you’ll pick up on the author’s hints and start to piece it all together as you go. I enjoyed this book but there were moments of where I wanted to shake Valerie. I get that she has basically done and sacrificed so much for her brother Jared, but I felt that she keeps treating him like a little kid. They’re the same age and she has to know that he needs his own space. I find her too domineering at times with him, but it’s not long before he starts to shake her off. Now, let me say this…I want him to have some space, but I don’t want him turning his back on her altogether either. I will warn you that their relationship gets complicated in this story. At the end of the day, I’m eager for the next stage in Valerie and Jared’s story. I’m excited to see what happens with her and her demons. I am loving the development of their relationships and we get some seriously steamy moments, too. The author does a fantastic job creating unique situations and surprises in places I didn’t expect. If you read the first book in this series and couldn’t put it down then be sure to grab this book! I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars.
4.5 ⭐️ This is the second book in a paranormal reverse harem series I am enjoying a whole lot. Book one, Harem of Sin (HoS), must be read first and if you haven't read it yet stop reading my review as there will be spoilers for book one in my review below.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Spoilers for Book One Below<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Depths of Hell dives right into....the depths of hell, where Val and her demon guys ended up at the end of HoS. This location affords us new, interesting characters and locations and of course, new danger. One of the known characters gets up to some stuff that is so frustrating, and not surprising after some of what happened in HoS, but it sets up a nice plot to show off the aforementioned characters/locations. Val has been having off-page sexy times with two of her heroes in the short time jump (3 weeks) that the book opens after, but there is some on-page stuff in this book too, thankfully. One of the heroes has some very funny possessive behavior and dialogue in this book that had me really, really amused - I'm chuckling right now as I write this thinking of it. The ending is not a cliffhanger to my mind, though some might think of it as such. It does definitely leave you wanting to know what is happening next and thus I will be eagerly anticipating the third book.
Another good book in the series. I decided not to rate it a five, because, ultimately, it wasn’t a book I couldn’t put down. It was an entertaining read, certainly, but it wasn’t so enthralling that I lost track of everything else. I had some hang ups with the first book, mainly that the language used sometimes felt awkward or forced. That’s gotten much better in this book. It’s certainly an action packed book, as well; you start to panic a bit at the end that there are just not enough pages left for the story. With the characters, I was a little frustrated by Val and Jared’s relationship in this book. I wanted to shake them both, but I think that was the whole point, really, so the author is pretty good about evoking emotion. I also liked how Val’s relationship with the the harem has moved on, though I feel like we really only got to know more about Vickal. Definitely some twists in this one that I didn’t predict, which is always a nice surprise, and definitely still looking forward to see the new twists rom book 3.
Hope book 3 comes out sometime soon. I am also reading the Goddess Academy series and loving it, but would LOVE to know what happens to Jason and Valerie and her demons, LOVED the twist with the brother as well in this.
Valerie seems to be a kickass chick, but has her downfalls. She also has her ego and pride and doesn't want to let them get in her way. She loves her brother, but has spent to much time protecting him and sheltering him, but I don't blame her since she was told at a young age that she was going to have to kill her brother and then her Mom was going to kill her. I think if she opened up a bit more to the guys then they would understand the entire situation, BUT they would have to open up to her as well about their past hang ups as well. The fact that there are addictions is a bit ironic for demons since they are the ones that are supposed to be the ones that promote them in the human world. I only hope that in the 3rd book we get a happy ending, this cliffhanger is killin me!!!
This book was fantastic! I loved it! I was so absorbed in the story I was not wanting it to end. I just kept thinking, 'Let this not be the end.' And that ending at the end of chapter 26 had me literally crying out, "What the hell just happened!?" This book is seriously amazing. The characters are so awesome you can't help but fall in love with them. Like who in their right minds even comes close to saying they like the 'devil' character in the story? Never once has that happened to me until this moment. The first book obviously has to be read first in order to read this second one, but let me just say it is so worth it! The cliffhanger though... I need more!
I could not put this book down! I literally read it in one sitting! Absolutely addictive!!! Val is trying to finding her place in hell. She finds herself falling for the three asshole demons & fears for her heart. But little does she know how addictive she is to Xeres, Vickel & Sylver. She’s not only drawing them to her for her scent and body, but awakening a side of them they thought long lost & forgotten. But with Jarred’s tendency to trust the wrong people, & a battle against not only demons but angels too, they must awaken more of Jarred’s visions & find the orb of Jehovah before they lose it all.
I received an advanced/review copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content and honesty of my review.
This book opens up pretty much right where the first one ends. It's a good continuation and you learn more about each character. I loved seeing more emotions from the guys in this book and getting to see more of a relationship develop between them and Val.
Val’s relationships with her demons changes. But does their need for a contract still remain? Or will something else become more important? During this book you get a closer look at Hell and how the demons live there. The descriptions of the landscapes and places they visit is so clear I can almost see them. New characters join the lineup, friend and foe. Others a hidden, wolf in sheep’s clothing or a sheep putting on a front! Loved the complexities, the changes of direction and revelations yet to come.
Book two in the Secret of the Fallen Series is unbelievably good! From the very beginning all through to the end, I was completely engrossed and unable to put it down. The relationship between Val, Xeres, Vickal and Sylver has so many dynmics going on. There are new characters being added that adds even more intrigue as to what is going to happen next. Jared has his own complexities that adds to the plot. Book 3 can’t come soon enough. The cliffhanger leaves you eager for more.
Now in Hell, Val has to figure out her place and what to do to keep her self busy. Her relationships with the her demon guys slowly moving forward. This book has so many twists and turns and revelations about so many secrets. Totally don’t want to spoil anything because it was epic! The cliffhanger at the end, OMG, I need book 3 like right now!!! I completely recommend this book
Slowly falling for her 3 bad men, still trying to protect her brother also. they wanted a contract with her and now they just want her body and cannot stay away. the relationship grows and she shows her protection and feelings growing on the men. her brother gets taken and now they have to search and save him, all while dealing with an insider traitor. can they find him in time or will the other side win cannot wait for book 3.
Book one was slower burn, but it jumped right into it in this book. The guys are ones you hate to love but love to hate and as their feelings grow for Val you see the changes in them as well. There is betrayal, lust, love, fighting and much more throughout this book. I love Vals spunkiness. She is a great main character. The ending is a cliff hanger, one I kinda guessed while reading, after she had a dream. Book three needs to be here soon.
Amazing! I couldn't put this book down. I just loved it. As Val fights to save her brother things with him quickly change. He continues to fight for his own freedom from Val. Defying her at all costs. I can't say much without giving away spoilers but this book is one hell of a ride. I'm dying for the next one already.
Second book and things are definitely heating up. Highly recommend reading in order to truly enjoy the series. Val is still beyond protective of her brother. But when the other demons start causing problems things will change between the siblings and her three demons. Do they still want to enslave her as their own? Can’t wait for the next book. Action and definitely beyond hot scenes.
This was insanely good. The character development was great. I totally felt like bitch slapping Jared which tells me the writing created the right emotions and totally sucked me in. Can’t wait for the next one.
I did not want this book to end and what a cliffhanger! This has been a fantastic series with amazing characters. The plot is good with twists and turns everywhere. I can't wait to see what happens next!!
This was great second book and I loved every second of it. The characters are getting better and better. Jared is annoying and such a child though. Okura is really sweet and I hope they keep him so I am read more of him!
Really enjoyed this. Loved the variety in the characters and how they each had lost the same man but in different ways. Loved their perspectives on that. I fully expected the twists at the end but still enjoyed them. Love Val and want to punch Jared
I really enjoyed it...But I have to clear my thoughts before expressing my opinion properly. However I really hope that the third book is coming out soon, because the end of this book is promessing!!! And I want to know what happens next!!
I received an advanced copy for an honest review. I personally loved this book. Lots of hot guys, steamy scenes and suspenseful plot twists. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
Angel's and Demon's, Demon's and Angel's. It's all fascinating! The characters are only getting better and the story is a roller coaster of a good time!
