Planning weddings is my dream job. As a single Mom, I live vicariously through my brides. From picking the dress to cutting the cake, I’m there every step of the way.
When I meet the best man at the latest wedding, sparks fly. Graham Frazier is more than I bargained for. The charismatic soccer club owner is disillusioned with marriage after his divorce, so it’s part of my job to make sure he won’t slip any sarcastic jokes in his best man’s speech.
It’s not part of my job to notice his washboard abs, or that he kisses like a dream. Graham’s touch is sizzling.
Before I know it, he bosses me into accepting gifts and spending the night at his house (his excuse is good: I can’t possibly drive after working a wedding, can I?) I say yes to both. There are no two ways about it. I have the hots for this bossy man.
Graham
Since my divorce, weddings aren’t my favorite events. But when my best friends decide to tie the knot, I promise to throw them a party they won’t forget.
I was counting on sitting through long hours of preparations, but I didn’t count on meeting someone like Lori Connor.
I pursue her relentlessly, wanting those long legs wrapped around me and her smooth skin under my lips.
Then I meet her son, and that boy charms me even faster than his mother did. Before I know it, he has me wrapped around his little finger.
But are Lori and I ready for our lives to intertwine in ways we haven’t even imagined before?
I was sporting a grin that took up my entire face—the kind of photo dentists might display in their waiting room.
We're not doomed to repeat our parents' mistakes, you know. Or I'll end up with a bad perm after the age of sixty, or a slight wine addiction. Or both. Imagine the horror."
My Review:
I adored this couple, and what a treat to read a story where the characters aren’t in constant conflict or turmoil but are happy and playfully enjoying and supporting each other instead. It was gratifying and a welcome respite for my bruised coronary muscle. The storylines were engaging and relevant while the characters were endearing, enticing, and bright and shiny. The writing was entertaining and delightfully amusing with witty and bawdy banter. The pairing of Lori and Graham was dynamic and vibrant as both characters were independent, strong, and successful and secure in their careers although lacking in their social lives. Their attraction was instant, their chemistry was unmistakable, their passion was volcanic, and their story was pleasantly enjoyable and oh, so, sweet. I am simply loving her new series and can’t wait to see what this crafty scribbler does with the rest of the large Connor clan.
When life doesn't go quite how we planned, it's the bumps in the road that point us in the right direction. Graham and Lori hit a few walls before they found themselves where they needed to be. Wild with You takes a look at the road less traveled. Lori had big dreams, but her dreams veered off course when she was given her greatest blessing. Her little boy. In that instant she found the courage to begin again and create a secure life for herself and her child. When Graham comes into her life, his bruises are a lot less visible, but no less traumatic. Somehow they find the strength to take a risk on an emotion that was not kind the first time around, but could be the start of something beautiful this time. Hagen firmly ensconces a place within the heart of her readers with heartwarming tales and hard to forget characters.
5 Sterne
Do you honestly expect me to write a bad review for this book? Or maybe not say that I enjoyed the book? I am starting to think that I will never give a bad rating or review to this author. Graham could have been jaded or bitter about love and marriage and ruin the story, but instead, he kept supporting his friends with their marriage preparations and helped them with the budget. He was a great friend and I loved his relationship with Amber and her man. Of course, he got the biggest reward in the end, which is Lori. Lori is a single mom who plans weddings and loves her job. She is also sensible and a good mom. She and Graham took things slowly and I liked how they gradually became a family. It was fun to watch Graham give Lori's son everything he wanted since he couldn't resist his charm. What I really liked about this kid is that he actually acts like one. He is not mature and he tricked Graham into buying him more toys which is something I would expect from a kid. For once, a kid acted like a kid in a novel. He, Graham and Lori were a loving family and I can't wait to see more of them in Will's book. Will admitted that he is not against the idea of love and relationships so, I want to see how his story will go.
Do I even have to say that I recommend the book? You already knew it.
Wedding organiser/planner and single mom - Lori Connor loves her job and she rocks at it, when she meets the best-man at her latest wedding, heat sizzles and sparks fly. Graham Frazier, the charming co-owner of a soccer club, finds himself drawn to Lori, despite the disillusionment he suffered after his divorce, he can't ignore his feelings for the delicious Lori Connor, add in her devotion to her son and her kindness and he is eager to spend more time with her.
This book is SUPER low on angst, there is some small drama when it comes
The chemistry between the main characters is nice, and I liked the read well enough, but there was just something missing that meant I wasn't captivated or strongly engaged with seeing where things went.
Although I really liked the characters of Lori and Graham (along with Lori’s siblings), the story just seemed lacking, the writing a little off, and too sweet to me (I.e. “I’m going to love you all night”, which was said multiple times). Even the storyline about Lori’s ex didn’t feel like there was too much to it. Overall, I did like the story, just not so much the writing this time (Sorry Layla). I do look forward to reading about the remaining Conner siblings.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Was passiert in diesem Buch?
Ja, man muss diesen wundervollen einfach lieben.
I think I had a goofy smile on my face the whole time reading Wild with You! I could have not loved Lori and Graham more. Milo added, makes my heart all warm and fuzzy. I love the Connor clan and enjoy the closeness that the siblings have for each other.
Going back to Graham. He surprised me through out the story. When we are first introduced to him, he had this cocky attitude that made you think he was a true a**hole. But then you get into his head and he was so much more than the external cover we see. Lori is so cute! She is a sucker for love and weddings. She had me excited for what was blossoming between her and Graham.
I whole heartily give this book 10 hearts!!! I have been excited I have a new series to read that I absolutely adore!!!
You know.....one of the things I love most about these past 2 family saga's (The Bennett family and now the Conner family) I've read by Layla Hagen are that they are full of so much emotion, love, family, swooning, sexiness and not a ton of drama. It doesn't need it. There is always bit of it, but it's always worked out without dragging on too long or being huge part of the story. It's just full of nothing but a fantastic, feel good story that you want to sit down and read from cover to cover. Wild With You is absolutely that way for me. From beginning to end, it just made me feel good. It was beautifully written and was exactly what I needed. I definitely recommend this story!
I’m falling big time for the Connor family and one again Layla Hagen has given me a heart warming romance to indulge in, this time it’s Lori Connor, single mum of Milo and Graham Frazier’s story. Lori loves everything about her life, she lives her job as events planner, she loves her family and she loves her adorable son Milo but when she meets Graham the best man at the next wedding she is planning she feels things she hasn’t felt before, an instant attraction with sizzling chemistry...... Graham has been sworn off woman he is still reeling from a bitter divorce but even he can’t ignore the mutual feeling this pair have for each other. This book ticked all my boxes, it has characters I feel for big time, I loved how both Lori and Graham considered Milo in everything they did, I loved the banter and the loyalty this family share with each other and their friends and I can’t wait to pick up book 3. I’m playing catch up with Ms Hagen’s stories and with everyone I read I find myself loving her style of writing more and more, she is fast becoming a go to author for me and I’m sure if you pick one of the Bennett or Connor series up you will feel the same. Highly recommended
Good single mother with adorable 7 year old son made better by being narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt.
I wished there was a little more drama with the kid’s dad trying to come back in their life but he ended up looking terrible and being terrible so it was more about Lori and Graham as a unit up against her douchebag lowlife ex.
A good smattering of spicy scenes but always wish it was in more detail and took longer than a few pages.
Insta-lust to love in about 3.5 seconds! When Graham meets Lori, his best friends wedding planner, he is instantly interested and the more time he spends with her the more he knows he needs to make her his. Lori of course is also instantly attracted but the only man in her life is her son so when Graham begins his pursuit of her she is only semi-hesitant. He is also the owner of her soccer star brother's soccer club so there's also that. But when Graham meets Milo he's also instantly taken with her son. There's only a tiny bit of drama so this book is mostly a sweet, insta-love feel good story with an HEA.
"I want you so much, Lori. I don't know what not wanting you feels like anymore."
Only 2 books into this series but I think I’ve found a new go-to contemporary romance author when I’m looking for a good story with mature characters and not a lot of silly drama.
The chemistry between Lori and Graham was electric. They meet while Lori is planning the wedding of his close friend as he is hosting it at his house. Lori is strong and devoted to her son Milo. Graham is slightly jaded and a year removed from a divorce. But the sparks fly and neither can hold out very long.
I enjoyed watching them fall in love and Graham letting his walls down, and Lori opening up to finding happiness for herself. There’s just something so sexy about how Layla writes her heroes, I was literally a puddle. 🫠
The conflict with Lori’s ex( and Milo’s father) was the main obstacle and I didn’t mind the overall idea I think the execution was a little too rushed and one dimensional.
However, a solid romance and I can’t wait to continue on with the rest of the Connor family stories!
I enjoyed "Wild with You" by Layla Hagen. This was my first book from the author. It was a fun read that weaves a romance between Lori and Graham. The characters have great chemistry that didn't disappoint. A wonderful stand-alone that brought a smile and a HEA!
Instant attraction, quick to be together. Some drama, but not all due to they main characters, and ex was involved, and some of his family issues. Great read, Graham is amazing.
I enjoyed this book, maybe not as much as some of her others but it was still worth the read. I will definitely be reading more books in the Conner Family series, I love this family!
***Received an Advanced Readers Copy during a blog tour with InkSlingerPR in exchange for an honest review***
Let me start by saying I love all things Layla Hagen. There - I said it, I admitted it. I have been enjoyed this series since the beginning and I have adored Hagen's writing style since the Bennett Series. I honestly think she has such a fun, entertaining yet sweet feel-good writing style that just makes my heart flutter. And even though I am not a big fan of the 'let me make love to you' romances, this is definitely one I will be the first to say how much I enjoyed this series enough to get over my slight personal dislikes.
She just makes great, HEA feel good sweet romances that you just CANNOT, and should not be passing up!
But alas that is not all we are here for, am I right? So I am really enjoying the Conner Family Series. Landon definitely made me swoon like a schoolgirl but I have to give some kudos for Lori. I think I just preferred her overall presence more than most. She owns her own wedding planning company, she is smart, talented and above all a kickass single mother, one who doesn't put up with anyone's crap. Even in moments of just despair or drama, Lori really holds her head high and moves forward; I have to say I can always get on board with a strong female lead.
Graham on the other hand is a bit of a complexity to me as a reader. Normally I would say he swooned my panties right off, which at many times he did, but a lot of the novel I couldn't pinpoint my reaction towards him. I liked him yet something irked me about him, I don't know exactly why - if that makes sense. Like I liked his personality, he was definitely a closet sweetie with such an amazing charismatic output that I always favor seeing in an alpha-male, but something about his also made him somewhat indifferent. I don't know if I can say without really spoiling something but honestly when drama started hitting the fan I expected the 'ROAR - me Tarzan, you Jane' complex but something about how he presented his gorilla warfare alpha-ness was just - no.
Even with that being said though, I really enjoyed Lori and Graham as a unit. They both were in past relationships that really left a sour taste in their mouth to find love again, yet they were open enough to experience an attraction together. They were passionate, intense and above all, they really liked one another. Plus Graham bonding with Milo was just - sound the ovary alarms! Sweetest, kindest aspects of this novel.
I will also admit that I enjoyed the drama dynamics between Lori and Graham. It presented as more believable situation, one where the reader could relate, actual imagine this could happen. Between the drama of miscommunications as well as ex-boyfriend drama, it wasn't incredibly over the top shenanigans. I am not saying it wasn't exaggerated, but it definitely flowed nicely for me to really invest in the romance and not roll my eyes, chuckle at the dynamic as I have done in the past.
As always I also have to mentioned that I adore the secondary characters. What Hagen does is she really connects, invests the entire family into the mix. Though at times there is a lot of heart to heart chats, it really just other entertaining and heartwarming for many of the scenes between Lori and the other Conner clan.
Bottom line, I enjoy Layla Hagen a great deal. She has a fun writing style that really allows the reader to connect with the characters. Wild With You was definitely a great addition to the family saga and I cannot wait to see where we go with this family. If you enjoy feel good, overly sweet and charming romances in the contemporary world, I could definitely not recommend this series, hell this author enough.
Wild with You is the second book in Layla Hagen’s Callahan Family series and the second book of hers I’ve read. Nice, is the word that comes to mind to describe this series. This book has a bit more edge to it than the first one Anything for You, due to the appearance of Lori Callahan’s long missing baby daddy Jeff, a real a-hole. We met all the Callahan’s in the first book in the series Anything for You, oldest sibling Landon’s book. While Wild with You can be read as a stand-a-lone I highly recommend you read Anything for You first just so you get a better appreciation for the siblings, their history and their relationships. In Wild with You we have the story of middle child Lori who is a single mom to seven year old son Milo and a successful event planner living in Los Angeles. We learn that Lori was a med student when she became pregnant at twenty-three. The father Jeff also a med student decided that he couldn’t be both a father and pursue his medical career so he dumps Lori and ignores his parental responsibilities, only to be heard from once a year when he wants to hit Lori up for a booty call while he’s in L.A. for a medical conference. Lori just ignores him. Now one problem I have with this story is the idea that Lori after Milo’s birth focuses so completely on him and her career that she never dates, never has even an occasional fling or one night stand. So this presents me with the requirement to believe a completely healthy, attractive and sexually passionate young woman deliberately abstains from sex from 23 to 30 years old. That is until she meets Graham Frazier who owns the soccer team her younger brother Jace plays for. Then the chemistry is too hard to resist and as the title says, she gets wild with him. The other issue I had with this story (and I know this is nitpicking) is the idea that Jace being the MVP of his soccer team is a big celebrity and that Graham whose only source of income seems to be the soccer club he owns is fabulously wealthy. Now I don’t live in or anywhere near L.A. but I do know a little bit about pro soccer in America and unfortunately it hardly moves the needle for most American sports fans in comparison to the big three, the NFL, the NBA and MLB. In a town that is over run with celebrities like L.A. I find it hard to believe Jace is such a recognizable figure or that Graham’s soccer club generates enough revenue to make him wealthy. Truth is most pro sports team owners in every sport derive their wealth from sources other than the teams they own. Anyway for most readers I’m sure those points are irrelevant and certainly won’t deter from enjoying this book. Ms. Hagen is a talented writer. Her heroes and heroines are highly likable. Their stories are entertaining and for the most part (despite my criticisms above) are believable. As with any good romance Lori and Graham’s budding relationship doesn’t come without complications and hurdles to overcome but given their histories those issues seem organic and not contrived just to add drama to the story. And the way the two of them resolve their issues in an adult way also felt natural and believable. If you haven’t read Layla Hagen but you enjoy romance novels with large likable families, people you can care about, a minimal amount of manufactured drama and some sexy times I think you’ll like this book and this series.
I love all your books. I remember being sad when the last Bennett book was release but when the Connors family was release i could feel all the same emotions from the Bennetts family i can't wait to read the next book and hope that when the Connors family's series is done that there will more books to come from both families.
Lori and Graham displays all the characteristics of people who have been hurt by people whom they had trusted the most. Both are afraid to start anew. Especially Lori because she is also a single mother. But when they meet, they know that it is only a matter of time before their passion crumbles all their walls and takes them to a path which they both fear to tread again. Can they do it? Is their Love strong enough? The best part about Hagen's book is that she leaves no stones unturned when it comes to developing a character and that is what makes you fall in love with each and every one of them. It's like you have known them for throughout your life! I loved this book in the series. And trust me, you will too :)
