Guards of Emerald Queen

Rate this book
Welcome to Emerald Queen: where the townspeople are friendly, the forests are rich and unexplored...and there are four siblings aren't who they seem to be.

Ian
As the newbie in town she can forget about her problems and start living again, Ivy Leigh wants to take it easy and just focus on waitressing--a job where all she needs to do is serve customers, sass the troublesome ones and save as much money as she can for herself.
But things don't always go the way one wants them to, not when there are outside factors in the mix. In her case, there's Nick Matthews, who's the town flirt and thinks she's the next notch on his bedpost. Then there's Ian Matthews, who's supposed to be the easygoing brother. Except there's nothing easygoing about his charm, or the way he looks at her, or the way he kisses her.
And there's nothing easygoing about his secret...

Nick
Rose Newark thinks she landed the chance of a lifetime when she gets her first interior decorating solo project, and she can't wait to get started. All her excitement goes down the drain, however, when she meets her new client: Nick Matthews, aka the town's playboy.
Aka the most potently charming man she's ever met.
She's unfazed by that charm, of course--until she starts getting to know the man beneath the glamorous lifestyle. On paper, Nick has it easy and has it all. But the closer she gets to him, the more Rose finds out about his secrets: and they're secrets that make him all the more attractive--and all the more dangerous...

Ara
Tom Anderson has worked at Coolio's all his life, so selling the place and packing up feels like the best break he can get. Having no responsibilities for the first time ever seems like a solid plan--one that's broken when he finds himself responsible for the safety of Ara Matthews' one night.
Things soon start unravelling when he keeps getting her out of trouble and starts realizing that maybe there's more to her than meets the eye. Ara has deep, dark secrets--and they're secrets that he soon finds himself entangled in, much as he finds himself entangled in her hot, brazen kisses...

Samuel
Being the healer of four very powerful, very supernatural siblings might seem like the coolest job in the world--but for Natalie Hill, it's just a job, and one that's ending soon. Now she's down to the last person she's supposed to protect: Samuel Matthews, who never really needed help from her, considering he's already a cop and the town's greatest protector.
But danger comes in many forms, and Samuel's beast nature is testament to that: a volatile creature that's a contrast to Samuel's usual calm self, one that fascinates her all the more. Natalie knows it's a mistake to get too close to him. But when tension forms and sexual attraction takes shape, it's too late to back out--and all she can do is try to fight for their lives...

ARC REVIEW

Guards of Emerald Queen is the first boxed set for this series. It's about four supernatural siblings with an interesting curse. Constantly on the move until they reached the small unassuming town of Emerald Queen they are there for over a year before Ian Matthews the eldest decides it's the perfect place to finally settle the family. Ivy Leigh has plans now that she has worked off the debt her ex accumulated. She is free and clear to do what she wants and meeting the brooding computer programmer, Ian, and falling in love wasn't what she had in mind especially since he can't seem to makeup his mind about whether he wants her or not. One kiss was all it took and the curse came into effect now Ian has to decide whether he wants to let the curse take it course or fight it. Nick one of the youngest, one of the twins, has always been a ladies man but when he hires interior decorator Rose Newark he loses sight of everyone else. But just like with his brother one kiss and the curse activates but Nick knows nothing is going to keep him from Rose. Ara has kissed a lot of frogs to try and trick the curse into activating so she could fight it on her own terms but to no avail. Tom for the first time in a long time has free time on his hands and he seems to keep crossing paths with Ara saving her from one thing or another soon his protectiveness and attraction to Ara leads to a kiss and now Ara and Tom are fighting for their lives. Samuel has always been the different sibling only sharing one parent with the other three is what lead to this curse in the first place and it seems with every sibling the curse gets stronger. Natalie Hill is the only other person who knew about the paranormal side of Matthews siblings as their healer and friend she also seems to be the only one who can talk Samuel out of his dark moods. Samuel and Natalie finally give into the attraction between them only to have the curse show back up worse than ever and Samuel doesn't know if he can fight it.

Overall, this was a great boxed set. the story was fantastic and the characters were all great. J.S. Striker has a way with words fitting in so much for each story it's fast paced and action packed.

This is a great set for those who enjoy paranormal romances.

You get to see four brothers find their mates. They have their reasons for fighting the attraction but the connection is too strong to deny.

Each brother is so different as are the women who become their mates. They each have to fight for the right to be together.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Four shifter siblings all under a curse and what happens when they meets the person who will trigger it.
Ian
Ian finished his work and went to Coolio’s sitting at the table next to his sister Ara and his two brothers also soon arrive. A new waitress comes for their order and his brother Nick tries his luck only to get shot down but Ian can’t take his eyes off of Ivy.
Nick
After Nick’s living room is vandalized he hires an interior designer to refit it. Rose is surprised to see her client is the man who had ducked when a drink was thrown at him and it had landed on her at a club. She is shocked to find the damage to the room was probably the work of the same woman.
Ara
Tom Anderson the owner of Coolio’s was on his way to the city when he spots something unexpected. He sees Ara Matthews looking the worst for wear, she looks at him then falls over and he realizes she is injured. She refuses to go to the hospital so he takes her to his cabin.
Samuel
Healer Natalie is dealing with the wounds inflicted fighting the curse. Three of the sibling and Tom Anderson all need her help to recover from their injuries. Having cured Ian, Ara and Tom she still has Samuel but when she gets to his home he is not there so she goes in search of him. She finds him in a cave but by the time he is healed and back to his cabin she has used all of her energy so when he collapses she is dragged to the floor with him.

NICK
The town playboy and when he employs Rose Newark to decorate for him he forgets all the women before her but can he convince her he has changed his ways and what about the curse that affects him and his brothers
ARA

A great series where four siblings find their mates while trying to survive a curse.
Ian and Ivy were drawn to each other even though they both tried to fight the pull. It took Ara pointing out that Ivy might be in danger regardless for Ian to stop fighting his feelings.

Nick and Rose's first meeting was less than ideal. Nick was willing to try being friends with a woman for the first time ever, until it blew up in his face and he fell in love with Rose. Daisy was beyond psychotic.

Ara and Tom had spent time around each other for years and thought nothing about it until Tom saved her life one night. I laughed at how Ara was so arrogant to think she could outwit the curse and not realize it only worked on her true mate and a substitute wouldn't work. Tom might not have been a shifter but he had the heart of one.

Samuel and Natalie had also been around each other for years with nothing happening until they both needed healing after all the recent battles. It made sense that Nat was Sam's mates because he needed someone who could go head to head with him and his beast.

The Guards of Emerald Queen is a interesting tale of 4 Siblings, that have a curse hanging like the sword of damocles waiting for them to find their mates until it is activated. The four siblings are shifters and are just trying to protect others from harm, if at all possible especially the people that they care about the most. Each tries to protect their mate from the dangerous curse in their own way. It was a interesting and new twist on the romance between a shifter and their mate, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked the characters and their individuality which made each story unique, while keeping the stories intertwined.

Box set of a shifter family and their trials and tribulations finding their mates.

This is a box set giving us the stories of 3 bear shifter siblings and their half brother Dragon shifter. All four were cursed as children, and will have to fight to win their true mates!
A good series, of the siblings ' stories starting with eldest brother, Ian and Ivy. Then, they're followed by Nick and Rose, then. Ara and Tom are next, Ara, is Nick's twin sister and the only female in the family. Finally we get Samuel and Natalie's story.
The stories are linked by family and events and I can recommend this box set from J S Striker.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Guards of Emerald Queen by J.S. Striker is a four book set of stories linked by more than just blood. This series opens with Ian the oldest of four siblings that have settled in Emerald Queen. Despite the fact that the stories are linked by blood, curse and love, I really liked that they could be read stand alone. These books are packed with action, drama, sexy shifters, love, betrayal and magic. Quick reads that are entirely too enjoyable to put down once you begin reading!

Refreshing twist on a shifter tale

Apologies JS for taking so long to write my review. LoL
I have to tell you I dig the twist with the curse on the four siblings.
I know, how can I like something that was awful? It was so different and at the other end of the spectrum of angst for the siblings and their mates. They wanted to love, but refused to put an innocent in danger. Fate had other plans for them though thank goodness.
Oh and I was a good reader and didn't hop to Samuel's story. He became my fave in Ian's story. Just saying. LoL

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

Taken individually the stories are okay, though I feel lacking a little in depth of world-building and plot. But taken all together they being to feel very repetitive. Especially by the time I hit the last of the 4 stories they had become so predictable, like the story was checking off items on a list (this, then this, then this...). The stories are a decent read, but just way too similar to really keep my interest by the end.

First off, great and exciting suspense romance. I loved it. Four shifter siblings carrying a curse and each has their own story. Plus the curse is different for each. Each story gets a little more tense as the curse keeps getting stronger. I liked Samuel's story the best, but the others were exciting as well. Guaranteed a really good time if you like suspenseful paranormal romance. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Four siblings, four mate curses. Can they stop the curses, can they protect each other and maybe their mate? Can they take the chance and find a mate? How could she put this curse on them? Didn't she love her son? Each story brings the story's alive. What would you do to protect the ones your love? What would you do to be happy? I received a free copy for my honest review.

Really great box set about four shifter brothers (3 bears and a dragon). Each story can be read as a standalone, but is so much better to have them all together. They are well written and the character development is excellent. Once you start each story, you become involved with their individual story until the end as each has loads of action, love, betrayal, magic, etc.

I don’t get it. There is a curse...and dark energy...and why? You don’t really get any depth in the characters, the reason for the curse isn’t even discussed until the last chapter of the first book (which is as far as I could read in this series because it just didn’t make sense). I’m sure these could have been an interesting read with more development.

Three siblings and a half brother have been cursed upon finding their mate

One of the brothers mother set a curse on the siblings and kills her matewhen she finds out her mate has fathered 3 other children. This set shows how the siblings find their mates and survive the curse. adult readers due to violence and sexual content in these four novellas.

Sibling Curse

Four great stories in on package you cannot beat the read or deal. You will get to meet great characters and read interesting story lines.

What I really liked about the female leads is that they all have a little something extra and they are no shrinking violets.

I recieved this boxset as an advanced reader copy, but this is my true and honest review.
I can honestly say this is a great boxset. Each story was well thought out and had you cheering the characters on. One of the best things is there is space to revisit the siblings in the future.

Finding your mate could be deadly!

This was a very fun read and I enjoyed it very much, it shows how the pain of betrayal can destroy some ones mind and could lead to causing pain for the rest of the family.
