Kate has had enough. Her research pod went down after the Generation ship crashed and now she's stuck on the steaming hot hell that is Tajss. The handful of people that survived initial contact with the planet's monstrous creatures have been forced underground into darkness. Worse is Annabel, self-appointed tyrannical leader of their small group. After a blow up that's the final straw, Kate and several others leave in search of other survivors and a better life.

Errol is hiding from a half-remembered past he doesn't want to face. The other Zmaj males of the Tribe are finding their mates among the human females but none spark a fire in his heart. None are his treasure. His past is too painful and with no mate, the seven foot winged and scaled craftsman has no future.

Trying to outrun his memories starts a crash course trajectory right into Kate, where the past will collide with the present and forever change the future.

USA Today bestselling author Miranda Martin writes fantasy and scifi romance featuring heroes with out-of-this-world anatomy that readers call 'larger than life' and smart heroines destined to save the world. As a little girl, she would sneak off with her nose in a book, dreaming of magical realms. Today she brings those fantasies to life and adores every fan who chooses to live in them for a while.

Though born and raised in southern Virginia, Miranda Martin is a veteran who's traveled to places like Korea, Hawaii, and good 'ole Texas. She's since settled in Kansas, the heart of America, with her husband and daughters, a cat, and wishes for a pet dragon or unicorn. I love my visits to the hot planet of Tajss because of all those sexy dragon men. In the beginning we meet an older male Gomul who provides Kate with her backbone to finally let Annabel know how she feels of her leadership and her decisions, it also sets her on a path to meet his son Errol.

I love how these people were brought together, diversity and challenge are good for the soul even when we don't recognize that at the time. Kate is an engineering tech who designed a range rover with a blend of high and low tech. I like that it uses trash as a fuel source. Errol has become an artist and uses the glass from the meteorite showers to help strengthen the wall the Tribe is building to keep their cave system safe. He and Kate meet when she decides to explore along with a few others and damages the rover when she uses it to kill a duster.

I highly recommend this series, yes I received a complimentary copy but if my finances were not so challenged from a fixed income you can bet your sweet rear I would be regularly buying this series.

This series just keeps getting better & is hotter than the meteorites that sometimes fall from the skies!

For adults only (18+ years) Contains subject matter that may be offensive to some, including adult language, steamy adult intimate scenes, and violence (killing of animals for food / survival, fighting, etc.). If any of these types of situations are offensive to you, then this may not be the book or series for you.

I just continue to fall more in love with this series every time I read a new edition / story. The universe that Miranda Martin has created just continues to expand and develop. Not that it is perfect, or that the species that now inhabit have learned from the past, but that is just what makes it so interesting. Just think what we would do if tomorrow something happened and earth went through a period of devastation that killed most of the people on the planet ... how would we recover? How hard would it be to adjust to no electronics, no phones or ways to easily communicate, or we had to survive on what we could grow, kill, preserve, etc.? I don't know if I could survive and be able to provide just the bare basics any more ... a very humbling thought and a situation that would be easy to give up hope in, but in this series you see the hope, the will to do what is necessary, and the need to work as individuals and as a team.

Here is a highlevel overview of how the story begins.

Kate is part of small group of females that survived the ship wreck. When they first crashed there were a lot more people, but they were killed when a guster attacked them. An elder Zmaj, Gorum, came to their aid and brought them back to his underground tunnels and caves. There he has helped them survive in the intervening years. He set them up in separate tunnels and the females have been able to carve out individual sleeping spaces, a community area, and a place to harvest herbs. There group has been quasi led by Annabel, who has not been the best leader. There are several that are tired of the bullying, yelling, snide put downs, etc. that she is constantly doing or saying, but in an effort to keep the peace they have went along with it. Now it has gotten to the point that Kate for one just can't keep her tongue any more.

Kate lets the group know that she is planning on leaving the following morning to see what else is available on the planet. Anyone that wants to go with her is welcome. Annabel doesn't take this well, so she yells, tries to stop those that wants to go and finally resorts to sabotaging the vessel that Kate built on their ship and has since repaired for their trip. What she doesn't immediately realize is that Kate found the wires she cut and repaired them so her scheme didn't work, so then Annabel tells them that if they leave they are no longer welcome to return. It doesn't work either and the group sets out.

Errol is part of the tribe living in the caves in a small community not too far from the city. He has been working on adding some of the glass that was formed when the meteorites hit the planet. It has been so long since any of the Zmaj did anything remotely artistic, or to relax like they were now doing with some of the games the humans showed them. Now if he could only find his one true mate. It is a longing within him that is hard to deny. He sees the other males with their human female mates and it gives him hope. Even though he has looked at all of the females and prayed that he would feel that they were for him, but it hasn't happened. Then he is asked to deliver some tonics, herbs, etc. to the city.

The group from the caves have a pretty smooth start to their journey until they notice that there is a guster following them, actually more than one. They try to outrun, but there is one that just keeps gaining. When they realize they can't get away from it, Kate realizes that their only chance is to try and kill it, so she positions it at the top of a sand dune and waits. Then when the time is right, she puts in reverse and goes as fast as she can ... will only have one chance to kill the beast.

I am going to stop there, as I don't want to accidentally provide any spoilers or twists. The story is too good for you to not be able to discover on your own.

Kate and Annabel were having an argument about whether to stay where they were or explore to maybe find an even better-suited living environment. The planet was very dangerous. Gomul had rescued them from a giant lizard type predator, provided them with food and shelter. So Annabel wanted to stay right there and make it a permanent home. She was pushy, unreasonable, and a bully who loved to demean anyone who disagreed with her leadership. In reality, they haven’t truly learned how to fend for themselves since their needs have all been provided for right here. Kate believed there was so much more out there they should investigate. Besides, Kate is sure there must be other survivors from the ship! They need to venture out and explore!

Errol has been waiting to find his mate among the humans, yet no one has yet sparked that feeling in him. He has just about given up hope of finding her as he observes the happiness the others have found. But he works with the meteorite glass to make a beautiful design to raise everyone’s spirits. He is very kind and compassionate. He wants the humans to be happy here and make a new life. And he keeps himself as busy as possible to stop the disturbing memories and dreams that he does not want to remember.

When Kate has had enough of Annabel’s cruelty, she finally tells her she is leaving in the morning. Six other ladies also ask to go with her. She works all night on repairing the rover she had built two years ago. By morning, Annabel had sabotaged the wiring so they couldn’t leave, which of course did not stop Kate. She fixed the problem and they left the caves. The two suns of the planet made it rough for them since they had spent two years living underground. On the journey, one of the predator animals came after them, but Kate got the rover to top speed and rammed the animals, killing it. As she examined the rover to find why it wouldn’t start again, a Zmaj -- one of Gomul’s dragon race with wings, scales, and tail -- came toward them.

Because he had offered to deliver a medicine order to the city, Errol was on a path home and met up with the women. Kate is immediately drawn to him, recognizes their chemistry, and is amazed to feel that she can trust him! He tells them the city will have the tools she needs for the rover repair, and he leads them there. They are attacked by a Majmun, an ape-like creature, and the women are entranced watching Errol’s fighting skills. He suggests they move on since Majmun travel in packs and he would rather not deal with the pack! And when they enter the city, the women are amazed. There is food, water, and a bed for each. Errol tries to talk with Kate about what is happening to them, but one of the more timid women asked if she could stay with her and Errol missed his chance. Kate is beginning to see hope. Finding this place proves there may be more out here for them. Perhaps even more survivors? And maybe with Errol, there could be a future for her?

This was a well-written story where the reader will immediately fall in love with Errol. He is just such a kind and loving dragon who deserves to find his mate. Kate is a strong woman who is willing to lead a small group into the dangerous planet, hostile to human survival. She has courage and cares about her group. Will they find what they hoped for? Grab your copy and see how their survival plays out.

Calm before the storm?

I'm So hooked on Miranda Martin's Red Planet Dragons of Tajss series that I jumped on this one right away. Dragon's Heart is number 10 in the series, and the author takes a break from the struggle for survival, the maneuvering for political power, the bickering over control of resources, and the ongoing aftermath of the Devastation on Tajss. This one's for the romance fans, pure and simple. Zmaj dragon Errol meets human crash survivor Kate, and in true Zmaj fashion, he KNOWS. She's is mate, the one he's been waiting for all the years since the humans crash-landed on his red desert planet. I don't do spoilers, but this is Miranda Martin we're talking about, so the reason Kate hasn't been in the picture is because she's a newbie; one of yet another tiny pockets of human survivors on Tajss has now been identified. No-one survives alone on Tajss, and sure enough Kate and co. were aided by yet another isolated Zmaj - an elder who has found refuge in a cave system. And yes, it appears that there will be ANOTHER conflict between human survivor groups - but I digress. Martin's set-up for the future of Tajss and her incredibly detailed world building are the ever-present background for the certain attraction between Kate and Errol, and their awkward cross-species, cross-cultural attempts to communicate with one another. Protective, calm and methodical by nature, Errol decides on the patience strategy. Kate, newly liberated from the hard life in the survivor's caves, Is feeling her oats, and not ready to give in to her emotions without a struggle. Everyone else is drowning in their excess pheromones, and Lady General Rosalind is forced to intervene. She requires a diplomatic mission to bring in the new survivor group, and kills two birds with one stone by sending Errol and Kate. Forced proximity and shared danger do seem to exert a clarifying influence, all manner of side benefits accrue, and it all ends in the romance reader's Holy Grail - a lovely HEA for H&h, and a brief respite from the relentless struggle for life on wildly hostile Tajss. I enjoyed the interlude, but it's clear there's more, much more, to come.

This is book 10 in the dragons of Tajss and a delight from beginning to end. Kate is living in the caves where the human women found safety and are being taken care of with food and protection by and elderly Zmaj, a dragon like being that populates the planet. Annabel, the leader of the women is a power hungry bully that pushes Kate to her limits. Kate decides she is leaving to see the world outside the caves and to seek other possible human survivors. A few brave women ask to go with Kate, and their quest begins. When the pod they are traveling in is disabled due to a run in with one of the beasts that roam the planet, the women are forced to travel on foot and run into even more dangerous beasts when Errol appears and saves their lives. There seems to be an attraction between Kate and Errol that Kate tries to resist, but fails. After Errol and Kate share information with each
other, they find that there are a few areas that have more survivors of the human's ship in the City and in Errol's tribe. I enjoyed the sweet attraction that Errol has for Kate and how easy going Kate is with Errol. The match up is a good one and they both have giving hearts for each other and the people they encounter. There are quite a few run ins with the planet's beasts and some easy and some difficult situations with the different leaders of the groups of native Tajss and humans but it all makes for an entertaining read and the possibility of future stories with the new human survivors that are discovered.

Exciting turn of events!

This is an exciting turn of events in this epic series.
Kate is part of another group of survivors. She and her group were in a pod on an exploratory trip in front of the main ship. When the ship crashed on Tajss the pod stayed in space for a little bit until they ran out of power. When it crashed some people were killed. The rest of the surviving men died when they tried to defend the women against a guster.
An older Zmaj named Gomul helped the survivors. He gave them a place to live in a group of tunnels with him.
After several years have passed Kate wants to go out and see if there are anymore humans that are still alive. The main "leader" of their group forbids it. But Kate and a few of the other women leave anyway. They have a rover that Kate had built that survived the crash.
They meet Errol on their way. He tells them about the city and the Tribe. Kate and Errol feel an attraction to each other from the beginning. They each fight it for their own reasons. Errol has a mistake in his past that inserts itself into the present.
I love that it appears more matings could be on the way. That means more books in this wonderful universe! I enthusiastically recommend this series to any sci-fi romance lover or even those who love dragon-type stories.

Human Kate has had enough as it was bad enough to be on a ship that crashed on the hot desert planet of Tajss but the self-appointed leader of the human women who are left Annabel is a complete bitch who just bullies people. After an argument that is the final straw Kate and a few others leave the tunnels they have been living in to try and find a better life. Zmaj Errol is hiding from what he can remember of his past and lives as part of the Tribe. Some of the other Zmaj males have found their mates among the human females but none of them is his own and therefore the sever foot tall craftsman has no future. While trying to outrun his memories he finds Kate which leads to the past and present colliding and forever changing his future.

I enjoyed this story which expanded a little on the stories of the human women who crash-landed on Tajss as well as the Zmaj and what happened in their past. Through it all there was the story between Kate and Errol and how they developed their relationship and that seemed the usual form of a rapid transition from protector to mate. I did like that Kate was feisty and not prepared to sit by and let someone else get injured defending her. I really hope Annabel comes to a grisly end in a later book (sorry). Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

Back to Tajss to discover that there is another little group of survivors. It;s being led by Annabel who is not much of a leader and Kate finally has had her fill. She declares she;s leaving in the morning and lets the others know that whoever wants to go with her can. In the morning they leave. Kate managed to fix a vehicle that was on the pod and they not only use that to travel but to actually kill a huge monster. Then another Zmaj appears in the sky..Errol. He is instantly attracted to Kate. He takes them back to the city where Rosalind welcomes them in. There they find their friends from the ship, and children...half breeds. As Errol is attracted to Kate so is Kate to Errol. But she fights it and tries to put up walls. After seeing Kate speak with other males Errol tries to erect a wall to keep his past memories in check and tries to put Kate into that cage also. Then they are sent on a trip to retrieve the vehicle Kate had used.
Another fantastic story of the Zmaj and the planet Tajss.

I have read every book of the Zmaj's. Each book is better than the next one. I hope Miranda Martin never runs out of stories for the Zmaj's of the Red Planet Tajss. Kate is with another group of human's that crash landed on the Planet Tajss. They are living in caves but Kate is growing impatient with Annabel and her nasty attitude with the other human women. She revoltes and leaves with a few other women and start out in the Sun and Sand of Tajss. They run into trouble with one of the animals, a guster, and Kate kills it. This is when Errol comes into the picture. It's a great love story. There is adventure and excitement and you never want the story to end. I will not spoil the story but you need to read them in order so you know who all the characters are that return in each book.

The latest installment in the series. I really liked Kate and how strong she was. She is fed up with the leadership in her small band of survivors and after years of it she decides to explore the hostile planet. Along with some friends they take off and after being attacked by one of the hostile creatures of the planet they meet Errol.
Errol made me feel sad for the males of the planet. To me he expressed what the unmated males must be feeling. After meeting Kate, he has hope as she has awakened all new sensations in him.
This book brings us a whole set of possible mates for the males as well as a possible new contentious character. I can not wait to see what is coming up next. Though this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.

Tjass is a harsh and inhospitable environment for humans

one pod of survivors last by hiding in irrigation tunnels, domineered by an incompetent leader

after realizing that they are utilizing diminishing resources, Kate leads a team out into the desert to discover a city, and allies, and many friends they thought dead.

taking a chance brought them new opportunities, challenges, and new chances for love, life and death.

what did they leave behind, and what lies ahead?

extraplanetary steamy dystopia

Book ten of the Red Planet Dragons of Tajss and this one focuses on Kate and Errol. I love how in this book the author focuses on a different group of survivors from the original crash. I love that more humans actually survived, this means so many more potential books! There are always different ways at second chances and Errol gets his when he finds out his father is still alive and responsible for Kate surviving as long as she has on the red planet. I can not wait to see what is in store for future books!

Dragon's Heart is the tenth book in the Red Planet Dragon of Tajss. Like the books before it, it is well written and the main characters, Kate and Errol, are well developed. Kate is strong willed and smart. Errol is kind and compassionate. He has longed for his mate who he finds in Kate. This story has action, adventure, danger, suspense, dangerous creatures, intrigue, romance, passion, etc. To truly experience the wonder of this book, I recommend you start with the first 9 books to fully appreciate the world building and character introduction. I highly recommend it. I received a copy from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review.

New additions...

Wow! Can you believe that this book ten in this series? With this story, Ms.Martin has managed to introduce new characters, new survivors and a whole lot of potential for future books. Over the course of this series, each character has reached out and grabbed my attention but Errol may have worked his way into my heart. There was just something about him that I loved. We are also provided with a quick glance at the kids in this story which I loved.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I recommend you read the previous books in the series for understanding of the background.

I think this may be one of my favorites from this series. I liked Kate, she came across as strong without feeling like she was trying too hard. I thought Errol was a good match for her. It was also nice to meet some of the other survivors and see how they have been fairing on the planet. It will be interesting to see if some of them get their own stories in coming books. I loved the scenes with the kids.

Loved Kate and Errol’s story!

The story was once again, an action adventure, with a sprinkling of Sazon! In this tale, we discover that there is a collection of human survivors that migrated underground to survive the planet of Tajss. Kate finally leaves the safety of that tunnel. No doubt spurred by her hatred of the tyrant leader, Annabelle. upon climbing out of this tunnel and using her rover, Kate soon runs into Errol and their adventure and love affair begins. Quite the tale. Definitely a four-star. Awesome read can’t wait for the next one.

This is the tenth book in the Red Plant dragons series and makes more a brilliant addition to the series. I love the whole shifter paranormal romance genre and there is always mystery and sexy alpha men. Errol is a strong man but is also very sweet and really protective and honorable. I love Kate as well but seriously wish she would have told Annabelle off she seriously annoyed me.

Errol yearns for a mate of his own. And finding Kate will give them both a new lease on life as the powerful and irresistible attraction between them works its magic. And for Kate and her friends, it's discovering that there are more survivors and even a city bursting with life and technology. Great storytelling as another Zmaj warrior finds his mate.

The best one yet!!

Yes it's the best one yet of this series , why because it was just all about the humans doing better and better with their new reality which you know is this red planet.
I can also describe it as " love is in the sandy air" .
Errol and Kate are just too sweet. Loved that everyone's settling happily with their groups.

Miranda Martin can we please find happiness or something for Annabel ?????? Jeez she is too much!!!

I love the Tajss series and it just keeps growing. The new characters are heart warming, the adventure is fun, the chemistry is off the charts. What more could you ask for. I'm loving these sweet Aliens and their human mates. Errol is so sweet and caring, I love that he found his dad and his love. Kate was a strong female lead and I loved that she is smart and brave. I am Overwhelmed

I just finished another read and I am equally eager to begin reading another book. As usual the author's characterization and total background information is outstanding. I feel a a certain familiarity with all of these people and aliens. I am only ashamed that even off world humanity's ugly head rears. However, it is so rewarding when positivism still reigns.

amazing!!

Oh how I love this series! These big strong dragon men and their tender yearning hearts. The new communities the humans and Zmaj are building together! This is one awesome series! Errol and Kate are such a beautiful match, after a brief day or two of trying to deny their attraction they get swept away in each other real fast! These books are packed with so much action and so much love! Read this one in a day!

almost perfect

Except for the similar issues of survival as other books in series.
There is no way a woman that can design, build a rover would leave the city. Or at least comeback a few days a week to work on inventing other modes of transport. Such as skimmers, mobile sleds, and power devices such as ones her vehicle runs on. And I did not believe one the pod did not have weapons on it or the scientist could not make any to stop the animals killing the human males.

I love the series. It's well-written with great characters an interesting plot. I always love when you get little references to the people of the past. Love me some dragons. The characters are always intense and sometimes a little funny.
