I’ve seen a lot of 5 star reviews and let me just say that I disagree completely. This book is full of unnecessary drama that could have been avoided but wasn’t because Cameron has to be one of the dumbest “heroines” that I’ve ever encountered. In every situation she was given two options, a reasonable choice and a choice that was just completely wrong, and she always chose the latter. It honestly seemed like she was letting a monkey make her decisions and the button for the bad choice was shaped like a banana. As I read, I just kept asking WHY?
It really frustrated me that she always gave into peer pressure so easily. Yes, she might say no initially but all it took after that was just a teeny tiny little push and she was all in. Cameron had several opportunities to avoid the drama, especially with Pocahontas, but every single time she just kept going back for more. That made it impossible to feel any sympathy for her and before I was even at the 50% mark I felt that everything that happened to her was her fault. After a certain point, I assumed Cameron had her own rules to life.
There are a total of five books in this series and I think that is about 4.5 books too many. I don’t know if they’re all full of the same unnecessary drama as this one but I wouldn’t doubt it. I’m not going to read them to find out. If you enjoy reading about a weak, too-stupid-to-live female lead then this book might be right up your alley. Otherwise, I’d skip it.

This is by far the worse book I’ve ever read!! I literally couldn’t finish... it was THAT BAD! I kept trying to give it a chance. I got to book four before I couldn’t take it anymore! This was a waste of space in my Kindle Unlimited Library. Cameron has gotta be the dumbest ho I’ve ever read about! This chick is just simple in the head, and I don’t understand why any author would want their main character to be that darn retarded! I just couldn’t bare to read about anymore of her stupid behind decisions! PLEASE KEEP IT MOVING IF YOU’RE ABOUT TO DOWNLOAD THIS! Don’t let them previous 4 and 5 stars fool you like it fooled me.

So....I really don't like Cameron (the main character in the book) bad decision, after bad decision, after bad decision. She would have doubts about a situation, and then still end up in the situation. It was very frustrating to read. I'm not gonna lie, I probably will read the rest in the series. Mostly because this was a really easy/fast read. I read it in just a few hours, but also because I'm nosey and I want to see what happens with the characters. Maybe Cameron will get better at making decisions??? (a girl can hope)
Writing wise, it left a lot to be desired. I understand that Miss Jones is self published - YOU GO GIRL!! That's awesome- BUT...maybe a re-read before publishing. There was some small errors that were just annoying when you're trying to enjoy a story. There was one that confused the crap out of me, where a character that had died a few chapters back was mentioned in the context of being with the main character...I was like whaaaa!?! I just feel like if someone (anyone really) would have read it over before publishing it, these mistakes could have been caught. Honestly, these mistakes might have only been on my copy of the iBook. I don't really know how that whole thing works.

Good story
I liked this book I read it in one day. And lord Cameron making me mad when She was acting like she couldn't see what was happening around her. Pocahontas was shady as what and wasn't her friend. Silk is just stone cold crazy to me he's the sprung crazy one and can't let Cameron go. Don't want nobody to have her acting like he wasn't out there cheating men are a trip. But I was glad when she found out about Pocahontas and Silk. And also Poca got exactly what she deserves. I dislike Pocahontas more then Silk though. Even though both of them annoyed me. I like Jude hopefully he doesn't give me a reason to dislike him when I continue this story. But we all know Silk gone get out of jail and something need to happen to Wallace did is annoying and a creep. Can't forget pure whatever they call her she needs to get it to. But through it all I enjoy this book definitely a 5 star read

This was a good story, however Cameron was either naive, stupid or dumb as hell for putting up with all that damn drama. And to have a so call friend like Pocahontas who needed enemies. She played Cameron like a sucker the whole entire time and Cameron was stupid to fall for all the bullshit that she went through. If you allow you friend to have you to get robbed, raped and then run out on you while you getting your ass whooped by five other strippers I don't know what else she would allow herself to go through. And them to be played by your man and so call friend who had his baby and laughing in your face... you deserved to get everything that happened to you. When you think you really have friends to count on you can only count on yourself.

When I first started reading Cameron, I had a lot going on. I was getting ready for my sister's wedding as well as taking my finals for school. Last night I started it over and boy was I glad that I did. Poor little Cameron lol she went through so much. I got mad and starting yelling at her and some of her decisions smh. Also at certain points in the book I felt like a little too much was going on but all and all it was a very interesting read. I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading more about Mr. Jude Patterson I didnt read enough about him.

I started this book at about 3 pm and was finished by 6pm. It was one of those you dont put down until you're done. If it wasn't for bad luck Cameron wouldnt have no luck, damn!! Cant wait til Cameron 2 comes out. I hope gppd things happen for Cameron and Jude. So far he seems like a pretty stand up kinda dude. Jade Jones, keep em coming girl.....adding you to my list of favorite authors.

This must be around the second time I’m reading this book. The drama definitely kept me hooked. Pocohantos was definitely not loyal. If I had a friend like her I’d whoop her ass until the day Jesus arrived. Silk was a dog sneaking around her back and having a baby by her best friend and then getting stalkerish on her. Lmao. This book provided the right amount of drama

This book is marketed as a story about a young woman attending college who struggles with difficulties concerning money and men. The description suggests a somewhat light-hearted and entertaining read. This is not what this book is.
The main character of this text experiences a disturbing amount of violence within the span of perhaps one month. Two of her best friends are murdered. She is in a relationship with a domestic abuser who is shot (but lives) in front of her. She is choked until she nearly passes out by both her boyfriend and a client. She is raped once, and nearly raped a second time. She is jumped by 5 women who kick and beat her until she suffers internal bleeding. She attacks two women, pulling their hair out of their head and leaving them bleeding on the floor. Male characters in her life resolve any potential conflicts with egregious violence; in public and in private.
At no point in time does any of this violence meaninfully impact any of the characters. The world the author creates is one in which everyone views this violence as normal and acceptable and moves on with their lives, doing the same things they have always done and remaining in this pattern of violence. Repeat domestic violence is not a reason to exit a relationship: being choked by her boyfriend does not result in her leaving him; she only leaves when he cheats on her with her best friend. The death of the friend and participation in 3-4 physical brawls that leave people hospitalized is not a reason to leave the stripping business: Cameron needs to see two of her friends shot to death before she considers her work hazardous. Rape and sexual trauma barely registers in her consciousness besides "having a bad month" (potentially, this is a coping mechanism?).
There is no attempt to contextualize this violence, to understand it as part of power structures based on race, gender, and class in US society that:
1) push marginalized peoples into violence against themselves and people more marginal than them; 2) routinely devalue the lives and wellbeing of African-American women creating a context where violence against African-American women is common, sanctioned, and unpunished; and
3) attempt to justify the violence by placing responsibility for the violence on victims, resulting in internalized oppression.
It would be interesting if the text, by treating such violence as so commonplace, was commenting on the ubiquitousness of such violence in US society and was exploring the psychological and behavioral ramifications of such violence on its characters. But the text does not do quite enough to justify this reading (perhaps the long-term psychological scars Cameron will have from being exposed to such violence will be explored in later books). In this book it seems that this violence is merely used to add "drama" to the plot, something I find both irresponsible and unentertaining.
Edit: Contrast this book with Jesmyn Ward's Men We Reaped.

Cameron and Silk had an unhealthy relationship filled with verbal and physical abuse. Cameron's lack of family and her need to be loved made her a victim. Although she had confidence while stripping, she was a total pushover when it came to Silk. Instead of encouraging Cam to pursue her degree, Silk encouraged her to strip and to make as much money as possible. Silk was a domineering jerk. He constantly embarrassed her with his behavior and poor decisions. Cameron wanted so much for their relationship to work, but once Jude came on the scene, Cam realized that Silk would only bring her down and she could have so much more with Jude. Jude showed her love and compassion. He treated her with respect and encouraged her to get her degree and quit stripping. Jude was her knight in shining armor but Silk had other plans and made her life a living hell. Silk's whole personality changed once he realized he was losing Cam. His confidence plummeted and he became basically a crazed stalker. It was fun to see his once hard demeanor crumble. Not only did Silk want to destroy Cam, but a whole other cast of characters slowly ruined her. Every friend she had, betrayed her. She was a lonely character with only Jude as a true confidant. He was the only person she could open up to. Cam made poor decisions which put her in danger over and over again and her choice in friends was disastrous. Lots of drama and sadistic characters. Cam is going to need some work with decision making and her naivete.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. It had potential, but it missed the mark. The female character was written as a simpleton, a door mat. If that was the goal, the author nailed it without a doubt. But, I suspect that was not how the female character was meant to be perceived. The story line was easy to follow and predict. I found it unbelievable that the female lead is supposed to be college educated and grew up street wise. I just didn't care enough to go back and verify if she grew up in the system or was abused somehow. I am also hoping the characters are developed in book 2. Maybe, I will learn what Cameron brings to the table other than a "hot box", as well as what the men have to offer than that big "water bottle" between their legs and attitudes.
Books 1-3 are on audio, which is my preference. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people that have to know how the story ends so I'll read 4-7. The sleepy, uninterested delivery was distracting. I'm hoping the story and the narrators delivery comes together in book 2 and on.

Cameron by Jade Jones
I just finish reading Cameron by Jade Jones. I enjoyed reading this book. This book is really interested and excited. Jade Jones did a good job. This is my first time reading from this Author Jade Jones. I love the concept and vibe from this book.
Cameron is a smart and intelligent woman but she is really dumb in this book. She's allow everything that happen to her. Silk is crazy and worst person in this book. Pocahontas is not good friend to Cameron. Pocahontas got issues with her life but she was wrong for stealing people money. I like X-Rated because she is a good friend to Cameron and she gives a good advice to Cameron but I felt bad what's happen to X-Rated and Cameron. So far, this book is really funny and crazy at the same time. This book and author deserve a five stars. I'm looking forward to read Cameron part 2 from this author.

So I was just thrust into the world of Cameron a bit ago, and my oh my this book got me anxious for part 2. I started it a few hours ago and couldn't make a move till it was done. A few grammatical errors but this book will definitely catch your attention and leave you wanting more from this author. The literary world better take notice, Ms. Jade is a force to reckoned with. ::psssst:: when is part 2 coming Jade? Good work lady keep that hunger cause you definitely have an audience that's going to support you and looking for what's next!!

Once I sat down and started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. Poor Cameron was so NAIVE. She never really knew real love, so she looked to her lying, cheating stripper boyfriend Silk and her selfish friend Pocahontas to fill the void. I hope after going through all the drama and meeting Jude that she will finally get her life together and stop falling for anything and start to stand for something.

Really enjoyed this story. You can't help but root for Cameron and want to shake at some points, this story pulls you in from the beginning and holds you. Could not put it down.

I usually don’t write reviews, but I guess today would be a good day to start. The Instagram page “The Shade Room” posted this author and a lot of the comments said this series was it, so I decided why not since I have kindle unlimited anyway. Well.....
This book baffles me at how lost the main character Cameron was. Don’t get me wrong, the book has peaked my interest because I do want to know how everything is going to pan out, given it’s 7 more books. However, Cameron irks my soul and I hope she is more likeable later on in the series. Hopefully her street smarts kick in.
What really irritated me was everything that happened to her, she put herself in the situations by being stupid. They tried to make it seem as if she was being “loyal” to the ppl she called friends and her boyfriend, but all I could imagine was “I’m stupid” is tattooed on her forehead.
Poca set her up MULTIPLE times and she continually went running back to her when she called, even tho she knew it she would be in some sh.. anyway.
Silk continued to do all the things she hated/complained about and as soon as he kissed her or something dumb like that, she’d fall back into his trap. Hard. I get many females fall for these things all the time, but it was very hard to read. Her naivety and stupidity makes me dislike her very much. For her to be a stripper who has been around the block, I’m just like how is it possible for her to make the mistakes she does.
Lastly. Idk if it’s just the kindle unlimited version that has the the whole series set as one, but Part 1 aka “Book 1” I suppose, ended horribly. It read to me as if I was reading Chapter 5 and it was supposed to go on with Chapter 6, not climax, cliffhanger, end book. Idk tho.

Lastly. Idk if it’s just the kindle unlimited version that has the the whole series set as one, but Part 1 aka “Book 1” I suppose, ended horribly. It read to me as if I was reading Chapter 5 and it was supposed to go on with Chapter 6, not climax, cliffhanger, end book. Idk tho.

I went into this book with no expectations except to see drama and there is a lot of that in here. The author did a really good job of creating suspense and surprises. I noticed there were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors in the book, but it didn’t take away from the story. So much happened and it didn’t feel rushed. It’s a short book and I didn’t feel like too much was happening or anything was missing. Typically I read a book and the author spends so much time describing things and trying to form perspectives without giving side characters backstory and I appreciated this author skipping that. It was an easy read. I never got bored. I could recommend this book, but I mostly see it as a guilty pleasure. It was messy at times and the authors using “chinky” as a description of someone’s eyes. Which is just a sign of how long ago the book came out. I felt the description of name brand clothing and songs were overkill. Comparing certain characters to celebrities so you get an idea what they look like is appreciated but unnecessary. I’m definitely interested in continuing the series because it was entertaining and Cameron is a girl with strength and a good head on her shoulders. If this is all the happiness she gets, I’m stopping here, but just to see her succeed and be happy is my end goal for reading the full series.

TW: RAPE + ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP
I accidentally started to read this book. I was reading Code Name Verity, but I was on my phone and landed on my kindle library and this was the book that I was reading last. I started to read it and then I couldn't stop. This book is terrible, but it kept me reading. It was an easy read too. I bought this book because Naya from naya reads and smiles, talked about it on her channel and I was really intrigued. I'm happy that I bought it because it was like junk food. Bad for you but I did enjoy it.
In terms of the characters, I only really liked Cameron and Jude, even then Cameron annoyed me a lot in regards to Poca and Silk. She should have dropped them. They were toxic. Especially when Cameron kept on defending Silk, even when he was being down right abusive and manipulative.
With the plot, it was incredibly easy to predict. The only thing that surprised me was the number of deaths. Jade Jones could rival George R. R. Martin in terms of kills in this book. The first death caught me by surprise, and I was really sad when she died. But when she died, I knew anyone minus Cameron was fair game.
I enjoyed this book, but I don't think I'll continue on with the series.

What can I say about Cameron...the first word that comes to mind is naive. Yet, she claims to be street wise. Poca played her like a guitar any and every time she felt like it. She couldn't care less about her yet Cameron decided she was one of her best friends. Huh?! She endangered her life, betrayed her, stranded her; let her catch a major beatdown but still she considered her a friend.
Let's talk about Silk. He abused her physically and verbally but she loved him almost to death. This girl had book smarts but that's about it. I totally knew that Poca and Silk were hitting it. While I may not have guessed about the extra secret. Yet, what kind of person was Poca to even allow her "friend" to date Silk in the first place? Just dumb.
It took her 1 rape, 2 attempted rapes, 2 beatdowns, 2 betrayals, 2 near death experiences to come to the conclusion that "perhaps" she should change her social circle. Personally, I'm not going to delve any further into the series. Consider me one and done.

Step into the world of adult entertainment. Get to walk in the shoes of one stripper by the name of Cameron, aka Hypnotic. It's betrayal, stupidity, and toxicity around.
This is my second book of the author. After reading her first book last year, I knew I would return to her other books, and I did with CAMERON. It's the first book in the series of over nine books.
Hypnotic is a usual stripper, who does this job because of the fast money. She is in college, and she is juggling both the job and college. Her world is certainly not perfect, but what irritated more about her is the inability to say no, even when she knows she has to. I didn't like how her stripper co-worker, Pocahontas always strung her along. Poca was just bad news but Hypnotic always was there for her, even though she put both of them in grave danger.
It was amazing. If you have watched and enjoyed the TV series, P-Valley, then this book wil appeal to you because it is the same vibes. I saw numerous grammatical and typographical errors. But other than that, you will enjoy it.

Lord Cameron work my nerves,I mean I hate what she going thru but I don't think nobody can be that naive and gullible....And Silk a whole trifling ass n***a I hope karma hit him good just like Poca ass she should've known her dirt was gonna come back 10 foe....I really Tiffany is a cool lil chick,Cameron needs to start back hanging with her she seems to care about her n her well being...I like Jude hopefully they work out ok n and Cameron gets a break from the drama 🤞🏾🙏🏾💙✨

i experienced quite a bit of culture shock while reading this book. at first i was feeling so much sorrow for the female characters involved in such a messy life style, then i started to get angry with these young women. i am so happy that i read this book. it has a message for all of us about making bad choices and trying to climb out of poverty in the most difficult of circumstances. we really need to pick our friends with care.
