R. J. Furness has been passionate about great stories since he was able to read. At an early age, he would frequently create new characters, worlds and creatures, then write crazy tales all about them. However, until now, he has always kept those ideas completely secret. After having a lifelong interest in animals, music and anything spawned from pure imagination, R.J.’s first love are now his wife and children. Over time, he has also developed an overwhelming desire for mugs of tea and good biscuits to dunk. He lives in Southport, England, with his family, a dog and several fish, chickens and quails.

Morrigan is the daughter of Lana and Foy. The people of Scorr Tantaare fleeing to Port Harmony after a new ruler comes into power. Now, 11 years later, her parents are taken from her. Morrigan meets a new friend named Haylee and together, they search for her parents.

I was bored through out the story. I didn't connect to any of the characters and I didn't care much about what happened to any of them.

I LOVED THIS! Morrigan is one of my favourite characters from the first book, so I loved getting some more backstory about her! It was written perfectly, you can see how much R. J. has developed since book 1, in such a short space of time! I was so hooked I read it in one sitting because I was curious as to what would happen next. I also loved getting to meet her parents fully and oh I just love this! I'm so happy this exists!

Won this in a Goodreads giveaway. Firstly this is a very slim volume - nothing wrong wth that, but it does mean we only get time for a whistle stop set up of what's going on. It's a dystopian future, there are humans - and other in it, some of the humans are oppressive. I won't say more than that for fear of spoilers. The world building is not extensive - but what there is is good - and there is a map (always a good thing) - in some ways this mean there is more space for the readers imagination to fill in the details. It did mean by the end I felt like I'd had more a taster of Morrigan's life than a big picture, but hopefully this will build in future volumes.
