“You can’t give yourself to anyone else. That’s dead. I won’t let you do it anymore.” —Jason
McKenna Steward longed for a love she presumed was unattainable until the truth revealed itself. After enduring disorder with the wrong one, the right one had proven himself to have been there all along. A friendship of a decade had heartily grown in ways she couldn’t possibly ignore any longer, placing her back against the wall to take on a staunch lover that patiently awaited her.
Jason Tate was determined to conquer McKenna’s heart. Revamping himself in a manner that his pure intentions could be perceived, he became relentless with showcasing his immense affection. Will McKenna weaken to his earnest charm, or will Jason’s disposition of being friend-zoned last a lifetime?

Isn't it typical human behavior for a "friends with benefits" arrangement to invoke deeper feelings only to reveal that 1 party has fallen deeper than the other or, in the off chance, both parties are on the same page? That was the ONLY typical aspect of this wonderful story. To further complicate matters, add sexing your best friend, who has been through much of life's rollercoaster experiences with you only to, voluntarily, take a back seat in your life until the appropriate time. This formula was the recipe for McKenna and Jason's whirlwind romance.
Seeing how attentive Jason was to McKenna's needs, during her lowest emotional point was heartwarming. A lesser man would have taken advantage of her in her compromised emotional state. I laugh when I think about how forthcoming and unequivocal he was concerning his feelings for his best friend, once he saw that her state of mind was improving. She needed the tough love that Jason gave her in order to get over her no-good ex. Despite her reservations, taking another chance on love was just what the Dr. ordered for McKenna (& Jason).
Wow! The storyline was nice, the chemistry on point and the series sensational. I'm glad to have met this couple, and sad to see them go. Maybe we'll see them again one day...
Jason is EVERYTHING! I smiled and laughed all through this book. The author's work gets better and better. My favorite characters from her by far. Good job Shanice!
I knew I would like McKenna's story! Jason's love for McKenna was so beautiful! He waited 10 years for her to love him back. I love how they met in college and they were drawn to one another. I really liked how Jason got rid of Alrick in that restaurant and took McKenna down in that germ infested restroom. I get the heebie jeebies about public restrooms so I felt McKenna's point of view about the germs in that restroom on so many levels! Their story was super cute and I really understood how sometimes we feel we need closure but it's so unnecessary too. Loved it!

YES, so glad the books were written in this order.
I thought it brilliant that we got McKenna's background story in book one. And Jason was definitely who and what she needed. He always was, she just couldn't see past him being her BFF. LOVED how you incorporated how the universe responded when McKenna was about to make that huge blunder. Bravo Ms. Shanice! Now, I know you stated this was the end of this series but I most certainly wouldn't mind a novella featuring these two couples. The girls need to have weddings and the guys need to be bragging how they knocked their women up. Please and thank you.
This was an amazing read, the only complaint is I want more. I loved the journey. The book was amazing. When things start out atypical, you don't expect a happy ending.
Jason was every bit of a man any woman could ask for and McKenna better treat him right. She was annoying when she wanted to complain about Jason telling aleric to kick rocks and wanting to talk to Derrick after everything he put had through. Other than that it was a great story.
My two faves. I love there love and friendship for each other. Jason handled her in a way that truly allowed her to see what a real man who loves his woman looks like. It was all around deep, passionate and beautiful. My kind of read. :)
I really thought that Mckena was really going to miss out on her good thing with Jason. I understand that Derrick took her through alot but she wished up and let it be. Glad to see that Duke and Lyla is still together.
Chile! The love oozing off the pages from Jason had me steaming. He is that dude! The way he loves McKenna is empowering and cleansing. But I need more! Don’t do us like this Shanice!
Even though I loved Duke & Layla, Jason & McKenna arw definitely my favorite. The chemistry was undeniable between them even prior to the actual relationship. Someone should have reached out and touched Derrick for what he did to her. Jason's love and presence overshadowed any and everything that was Derrick.
Jason stole my heart immediately. Loved how he loved McKenna despite her past mistakes and made her realize how much she'd been missing out on by keeping him in the friend zone. His persistence to make her his woman was oh so attractive. Very cute read!
This is the second book I've read from this author and I am officially over her preferred writing style. The dialog is unnecessarily over the top for no reason. It doesn't add to the book, but in my opinion it takes away from the story. The only way I finished it was because I skipped all of the unnecessary, I appropriately used words that made up dialog that didn't really make a lot of sense in most of the time. And before you ponder, I am a highly educated and intelligent.
The elusive drug we all crave. Sometimes we don't recognize it when it's right in front of us. McKenna gave her all to the wrong man. She was not open to love the person who kept showing her love. It was a book of coming to terms with wanting love and recognizing that you had it all along.
While McKenna tried to keep Jason in the friend zone, his love for her was evident. He was truly a gem in his caring for her. Well written romantic scenes enhanced the storyline making this a wonderful book 2 in the series. Looking forward to reading more stories by this author.
OMG! Jason was everything. Patient, strong, smooth, demanding and most of all a sweetheart. To love someone for a decade, and allow them to keep you at arms length is beyond admirable. Glad McKenna got her head on straight, and accepted his love! Perfection!
