USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn grew up wanting to be a singer more than anything else. When she realized she probably wouldn’t be hired as the opening act for the Foo Fighters, she stopped singing and started writing. Now she happily writes about rock stars, MMA fighters, suited heroes, bodyguards and everything in between. And she blasts her music as loud as the neighbors can stand, because hey, she’ll always be a rock star in her own head.

Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott kick off their new rocker romance series, Brooklyn Dawn, with a sizzling hot, brimming with music, angst, love and a dash of danger tale of a gruff music savant and the rock star that shone light in his dark lonely life.

Brooklyn Dawn’s lead singer, Lindsey York, met Alexander Nash when her group was barely lifting off, but their brief encounter marked them indelibly. Now that Brooklyn Dawn is a huge success, Lindsey is called to record a song for a charity album. Until then, they’d crossed paths a few times over the years but never had to work together which proves to be a challenge because the only way they seem to be able to communicate is when they’re taking their clothes off.

As they spend time writing, singing and invading each other’s personal space, they forge a connection that runs deeper then lust and a passion for music. But can they survive the outside forces plotting against them?

I always get my rock chick fix with a Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliot book! They have mastered the art of writing remarkable music sequences either on or off the stage that transport the reader to the heart of music magic while prominently developing a fun and sizzling hot romance chock-full of enjoyable characters you’ll easily fall for.

Lindsey and Alex were complete opposites. She shone light into his very dark and solitary existence. She wasn’t just talented, she was focused and relentlessly determined, and even though Alex was full of pain she saw his light and hope. Once his walls started cracking, Alex was able to show her how intensely he loved her. Their road to happiness was by far easy. First they had to open up to each other and then face danger together, but it was all worth it.

Lindsey and Alex’s relationship develops through tour stops, studio recordings a wedding and even a touristy NY stop all the while providing numerous opportunities to get to know the very interesting Brooklyn Dawn crew as well as catch up with characters from other rock star Quinn-Elliott productions.

Play Dirty is book #1 of the Brooklyn Dawn series by authors Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott. It’s a standalone, full length rock star romance, written from various points of view with a happy ending.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: PLAY DIRTY is the first instalment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult BROOKLYN DAWN erotic, rock, romance series focusing on the members of the rock band Brooklyn Dawn. This is lead singer for Brooklyn Dawn Lindsey York, and musician/writer / record producer Alexander Nash’s story line. BROOKLYN DAWN is a spin off from the authors’ numerous rock series including Lost in Oblivion, Found in Oblivion, and Hammered.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Lindsay and Nash) PLAY DIRTY is an enemies to lovers/second chances (of a sorts) romance between lead singer for Brooklyn Dawn Lindsey York, and musician/writer Alexander Nash. Three years earlier Lindsey and Nash had a hot and heavy encounter behind the scenes then Lindsey disappeared from Nash’s life. Fast forward to present day wherein Brooklyn Dawn is one of the biggest rock bands in the world, and Lindsey has been asked to sing on an upcoming holiday album, an album co-written and co-produced by Alexander Nash. Sparks fly, words are said in anger as Lindsey and Nash must come to terms with what happened, and going forward. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Lindsey and Nash, and the potential fall-out as a stalker sets his sights on our story line couple.

Ten years earlier Irish born Alexander Nash’s life spiralled out of control. Alcohol and drugs destroyed his career when an automobile accident nearly took his life. A successful music writer and musician, Nash got his life back under control only to discover that not all was well in his well-ordered world. Lindsey York’s meteoric rise to fame came with a price including the paparazzi and fans who wanted more from the members of Brooklyn Dawn . A series of mysterious phone calls, and threats against her life find security tightened around Lindsey and the band, security that is about to drop the ball.

The relationship between Lindsey and Nash is an enemies to lovers; a second chance, of sorts between two people whose success on the music stage took off like a shot. Alexander Nash struggled to forgive the woman who walked away without looking back; Lindsey York fell for our story line hero, a man who struggle with Lindsey’s reputation, a reputation proliferated by lies and fame. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several members from the other bands and the aforementioned previous series including Ripper Records executives CEO Donovan Lewis and Lila Ronson Shawcross Crandall. We are introduced to the members of Brooklyn Dawn: drummer Cooper Dallas, ead guitarist Jamie DuCaine, bass guitarist Ozzy Taylor, keyboardist Teagan Daly and rhythm guitarist Zane Landry; Roth Defense specialist Noah Jordan; up and coming singer Angel Martin; and Nash’s childhood best friend Kyle Brady.

PLAY DIRTY is a story of secrets, betrayal, friendship and family; forgiveness and moving forward, happiness and love. The premise is engaging, energetic and edgy; the romance is steamy and seductive; the characters are colorful, dynamic and charismatic. PLAY DIRTY is a fantastic start to Quinn and Elliott’s new Brooklyn Dawn rock romance series.

From Wikipedia: Yin and yang can be thought of as complementary (rather than opposing) forces that interact to form a dynamic system in which the whole is greater than the assembled parts. According to this philosophy, everything has both yin and yang aspects (for instance, shadow cannot exist without light). ~ Without a doubt this describes the main characters in Play Dirty by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott.

The band Brooklyn Dawn has shown up or been mentioned in both the Lost in Oblivion and Found in Oblivion series and yet they remained a bit of an enigma. There was no doubt they are talented, no doubt they had have some interesting members, and no doubt they’ve worked hard to get where they are and they are led by Lindsey, their lead singer, songwriter, and talented musician. Lindsey leads a pretty private life that isn’t near as interesting as the tabloids make out and when she gets a call from a friend who needs a favor, she leaves her much needed break in Hawaii and heads to Winchester Falls in upstate New York only to find her worst mistake there. Nash feels betrayed by Logan when Lindsey appears to finish out the Christmas album he’s producing for Logan, and he doesn’t handle it very well. They had a moment years ago and he ruined it; she is the light to his dark, the happiness to his brooding, the yin to his yang and he has no idea how they’ll be able to get through a week together when the mere sight of her leaves him on edge.

Authors Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott do not mess around when they want to get their point across and it was really evident that Lindsey and Nash didn’t want to be near one another or work together. Polar opposites in temperament, but when collaborating they are pure magic and when forced to deal with one another sparks and clothing fly everywhere.

I also felt Lindsey was a bit aloof, a bit spoiled, and quite possibly a bit of a diva, but in this book we see she is none of that. She sees everything, the feels deeply, and she protects those she cares about with all she has. I liked this Lindsey a lot and hated when she was hurting, but I was also impressed the while she might blow up, she might sing her pain away, she was also fair and would listen to reason.

It took me awhile to warm up to Nash, while there was no doubt he was brilliant at what he does for artists, he was a bit of an a$$. I’m not saying that I couldn’t understand some of his pain and reasons, but his communication skills quite frankly s*cked and there were many times I wanted to bop him upside his head and tell him to snap out of it.

Throughout this book it was obvious that something big and a bit sinister was going to happen, they were dealing with someone who had obviously lost their grip on reality, but in the bits and pieces it came out they really didn’t see it at the time. It is never easy seeing characters go through such an emotional turmoil, but as always I trusted these authors to do right by the characters and provide the happy ever after their readers demand.

Compelling and powerful with characters who brought out the best in one another, Play Dirty starts off the Brooklyn Dawn series on a very high note.

This standalone enemies-to-lovers rockstar romance is perfection! This is an entertaining, fast-paced story of famous singer Lindsey York and Alexander Nash. These two have a mutual dislike towards each other and neither care to hide it. Yet, they cannot deny the strong attraction.

I absolutely adored Nash. He is prickly, broken, and rather closed off. My heart strings where pulled as I learned what all that he had gone through and the feelings that he grapples with. Shrouded in darkness, Lindsey’s vibrancy shines light on this tortured, former rockstar turned music producer. I found Lindsey to be rather endearing. She is a strong heroine, a glittery star who works hard and doesn’t often allow for downtime or love for that matter. Her band, the fans, and the music come first, but sparks fly when she is with Nash.

These two authors can write rockstar romances like no other. As with their previous books, Lindsey and Nash are strong, likable, and well-developed. The plot is good and I love the suspense that is weaved throughout the book. The kindle-melting scenes had me fanning myself while some of the dialogue had me swooning. It was great to see some of the characters from their others books and I really enjoyed learning more about the other band members in Brooklyn Dawn. In fact, the authors have left me begging for each of their individual stories. If you like strong characters, rockstars, and suspense, then you will love this book. I received an early complimentary version of this book.

Lindsey is quite the touchy feely girl at times, "when she casually let her hand drift over the growing bulge in my sweats, she said against my lips, “Sure is a good morning.” Nash likes to give his girl experiences, “we’re playing proper tourists today, remember? That means shopping. And if you picked up a few scanty pieces for the bedroom…” I trailed off and rubbed her pouty lower lip with my thumb. “I don’t suppose I’d mind.” I liked this book, I loved Nash.

4.5 Emotional Stars

Lindsey and Nash has such an amazing story. They shared an incredibly strong chemistry and yet fought against it until they couldn’t any longer. The constant push and pull dragged me into their world and held me captive. Their connection was a perfect combination of sensual and emotional and I enjoyed every moment.

What I love about the co-authors is how they transport me into the world of a rock star and bring so much life to their characters. I’ve fallen so hard for their other bands and it’s an absolute treat when they make an appearance.

I can’t wait to get to know the rest of the Brooklyn Dawn band members on a much deeper level.

This one draws you in until it has you by the throat and won't let go until the end. There is so much that I found beautiful in this story that it makes my heart hurt for the beautifully written characters. The story is full of two souls, one light and the other dark, trying to fight for the love they find in each other. The roller coaster of feelings, love, hurt, betrayal, sorrow and still continue to find each other in the end.
The characters are strong-willed, but falling and not wanting to, and the inevitability to deny the truth is their love.
This is Brooklyn Dawn's, Lindsey, and Nash's story.

Nash & Lindsey's story is emotional, suspenseful and sexy. They are both strong-willed people who didn't go looking for each other but found something together that is beyond their control. They are pulled to each other in a most primal way, but not everyone wants them to be together. Throughout the story, we get to see some of our favorite people from the Oblivion and warning signs worlds which is a pleasure. These authors know how to write a hot, sexy rockstar romance you won't want to put down. Looking forward to reading the next book in the Brooklyn Dawn series.

Another amazing Rock Star series begins!! Quinn and Elliot make you feel like you're on the stage with these bands. Being from NYC, and ACTUALLY living in Brooklyn for a while, Brooklyn Dawn is close to my heart! ❤️ Book 2 is out also (Finished that one also! 📖😉) You will not regret reading this book!
Side Note: Although this book is a standalone book, I suggest you go back and start with book 1 in the Oblivion Series. Some of the characters from each of the other books show up in most of the other books, which is really cool. So knowing the peripheral characters makes the story even more enjoyable. If you love music, love hot and steamy sex scenes, not to mention getting an inside look at band dynamics, read this whole series!
Each book is just as good or better than the one before!

The Delight
A new band in the Oblivian world and one we have seen from time to time in the Hammered series.  It's time for a new group of rockers to fall in love starting with Lindsey of Brooklyn Dawn. Classy, but not afraid to get dirty and a famous producer who is more mysterious than anything.

Review
Brooklyn Dawn has been a band on the fringes of all the stories in the Lost in Oblivion, Found in Oblivion, and Hammered world. Jaime is the wild child while Lindsey brings the voice that makes it all come together. The story opens with a haunting piano melody and two people who know each other hating each other but drawn to each other through the music. Parting ways, but they are noticed by a friend or maybe an enemy.

Sometime later Lindsey is looking forward to time off from the tour, but that's not to be when Logan from Winchester Falls series calls needing her help on a Holiday album he is working on. Being on tour has been exhilarating but also exhausting and relaxing is all she wants. She owes Logan so helping him in need is a no brainer.

Alexander Nash is also another character we have seen before, but there is a lot of mystery surrounding him. He's a loner, but a brilliant producer. He once was in a band as well, but drugs and alcohol messed him up to the point he crashed and literally burned. Voice mangled, he keeps to himself but can see the talent and help them achieve stardom. When his latest talent shows up high, he fires her and leaves his friend's Holiday album in a lurch with no headlining talent. Then Lindsey shows up. The only woman he been interested in for years.

The two argue at every turn and make it impossible for Logan to get the work done needed in a few days. Locking them up in the "barn' seems the best way to solve this issue. Forced together the two argue, fuck, and start on creating a song or two. Lindsey is not ashamed of fucking or getting what she wants. Nash is more reserved, introverted and trapped behind emotional walls that are going to need a sledgehammer to break down.

The two start a contentious relationship as she goes back to touring, but strange things starting happening. Phone calls from unknown numbers with garbled recordings, torn up tour posters, feeling as if she is being watched. Now the band needs security and Nash wants to protect Lindsey, but also leave her as his world is being torn apart as well. Both are better together, but a wedge is driving them apart.

Suspense weaves throughout the story as you know they are being watched and by who. You just don't know to what end this is coming. Then something happens that throws the two into wondering if they even know each other.

The story weaves with sultry moves of two musically talented people, looking for love, but do not feel they deserve it. Lindsey wants more than Nash is willing to give, but Nash wants to have what he feels he doesn't deserve. Trust issues ensue. Misunderstandings. Betrayal of friends. And deadly consequences. It had everything to make a great story come alive in my mind.

It's NEVER a bad idea to start reading a new rockstar series in my opinion. Especially if its from Quinn and Elliot.
Nash...oooooh Nash....YUM! Need I say more. Ummm yes guess I do lol. Nash is .... ? Mmmm... had to describe. Self imposed outcast? Moderate ahole? Scarred inside and out? Maybe all three, B U T , also brilliant. At least when it comes to songwriting/producing. Boyfriend material...weeeeellllll he might need a little work in that department. Logan should and does give him pointers lol.
Lindsey York is his unicorn. Both magical and elusive. A dream night in a crowded smoky bar sends them both into orbit. Which also sends someone else into orbit...you'll spend half the book thinking you know who it is...but...looks can be deceiving.

DNF. I just couldn't. I tried to read and if you know me I've read 450 books this year. I've read that many because I read fast. If the sentences a chopped up in poor grammar and sentences I can't read properly. My mind wants to stop. Go back. And read properly to understand. Pretty much like how I'm writing. This review.

I've read plenty by these author's but if they are going to pull poor work out then I'm not reading. I'm going to call them out. Each time. Each and every time.

Dirty me up!

Another fabulous and addicting rockstar romance by this talented and prolific writing team of Quinn/Elliott has hit my grateful kindle! Their Oblivion World, which I could never, ever tire of, continues to grow as a new series begins with another Ripper Records band, Brooklyn Dawn.

Lindsey York comes from a wealthy, privileged upbringing and her blood may be alittle blue but this rock and roll queen lives for the unmatched feeling she gets from singing her heart out on stage with her band, her true family. Her music and friends are her life and only loves... so far.

One night in a dive bar turns her world upside down when she has one of the most erotic experiences of her life with someone she thinks is an arrogant, 1st class ass. Now, years later, she still can't forget him and doesn't try to pretend anyone else could come close to making her feel that way again. Why does it have to be him?

Oh, burn me, this book was so sexy and exciting. I do love a hot, dark, brooding man like Alexander Nash. How could I not notice him and wonder what his real story was after reading the Winchester Falls series. Logan King's friend, raspy voiced and mysterious Irishman, former musician, now very much in demand, reclusive music producer..well, just give me more!

Now, put these two musically gifted people together again against their will? Sparks, explosions and fireworks might be what you get as they face off with such animosity towards each other, you might get singed just reading about them!

Holy wow, want sizzle... it's right here. Craving some enemies to more romance, this book has that and so much more. Like some crazy, twisted suspense?...you know Cari and Taryn have added this ingredient to keep you on your toes and near the edge throughout. Boy do they succeed, on all counts.

One of the best parts of this book for me had be how these tough, hard to break characters feelings were revealed so well in dual POVs, often presented through beautiful, heartfelt song lyrics, poignant and raw, for the world and each other to see and wonder about. Unique, meaningful, soul searching but always welcome in a rockstar romance and a lovely bonus every time.

A longer than usual book, thank goodness (I love big books and I cannot lie!) it could have gone on forever...I just would have toothpicked my eyes open and kept on going. Who wants a great story like this to end? Not me! I'll be watching the calendar for Oz's story and hopefully more from the Oblivion world I've binged, loved and still think about..a sign of storytelling at its finest.

Started off super slow

This was more like a 3.5 stars for me. The book started off super slow and tough to really get into. I also felt like other books needed to be read before this....like I was missing something. All the characters that were vaguely mentioned had backstories I felt like I should have known. I was confused on the band that was traveling with them, were they the opening act and who was all a part of that band. There were so many characters too. The authors tried to give a small explanation of them, but it seemed like not enough and I wasn’t sure if they were important enough for me to remember them. There was also a bit of inner thought repetition that became a little annoying. A couple of things were left really vague that I wished they would have explained (example—they did this thing with a guitar or bass to someone that complained about the noise in the hotel. It was significant enough to be put in the paper but the authors thought it was not significant enough to tell us what they did. ) Even with all that, I did eventually get into it and it became a page turner. I am not sure if it was good enough for me to continue onto the next book though.

A powerhouse of a love story!!!

Wow, just wow. I am completely blown away by Play Dirty. It is one of those unicorn books that grabs you from page one and doesn't want to let you go. It leaves you with one heck of a book hangover!

This is book 1 of the Brooklyn Dawn series and it centers around Lindsay York, the lead singer of Brooklyn Dawn. They are her family and with the glimpses that we have gotten of them, I can't wait for their stories. Her love interest, for the lack of a better term, Alexander Nash, a music producer, former musician and a recovering addict. He is the dark to her light, feeling guilt for all that went wrong because of a mistake he made ten years ago. Their love story isn't rainbows and unicorns. It is so raw and gritty, so packed with emotion, you can't help but feel their pain. It is a stalker watching their every move, wanting to destroy Nash's life. Don't worry though, there is a balance of lightheartedness with the interactions with the band and with Nash's and Lindsay's mutual friend Logan King.

I can't say enough how perfectly Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn have written this book. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!!

The rockstar world these authors have created is mind boggling. I’ve never wanted a group of fictional characters to be real until I entered the absolutely incredible world of Ripper Records. I was sucked in with Oblivion, Warning Sign dragged me through every emotion I was capable of feeling and now we get Brooklyn Dawn.
It’s amazing to me the way these authors create such complex characters, the depth and layers to the story, the continuity, the attention to detail, there isn’t a single thing that is missed or over looked. I absolutely love that the characters are not always perfect, they are flawed and damaged and broken but still have some fight in them.
Lindsay & Nash were perfect for each other, I loved that she wasn’t a damsel in distress, that she was a little stronger than him, that she helped him find his light. Even though she needed him to physically save her in the end, she saved him too. Their imperfections and their struggles are what made this story so touching. I loved everything about this book.
Oh! And it didn’t hurt that it was like super steamy hot!

The perfect follow-up to Lost in Oblivion. Brooklyn Dawn are travelling with Lost in Oblivion & the story centres around their lead singer Lindsey York & a musician/song writer turned producer, Alex Nash. It's a complicated relationship for two people who are basically loners who find a way to make love work. The next book is out late November - can't wait!

Play Dirty is the first book in a new rockstar series by these talented authors and is a fantastic introduction to the guys and girls of Brooklyn Dawn.

There’s a wonderful cast of colourful characters, not least of all the leads in this case, Lyndsey and Nash. Lyndsey is the lead singer of Brooklyn Dawn and with her best friend Jamie, she blazes through life setting the world, and the stage, on fire. Strong, opinionated, intelligent, kind, she’s just my kind of woman and I loved her. She and Nash have amazing chemistry, but a moment of madness, of recklessness, of giving in to that attraction, has far reaching consequences. It was raw and frantic and deliciously debauched and was one of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a book.

There are several versions of Alexander Nash and I loved all of them, although he’s a little difficult to like initially. A talented musician turned record producer, with a less than stellar past, he’s often surly and anti social. However, as with all things, there’s a reason for his actions and I was pleased to see he got his act together and the real man behind the prickly facade emerged before long. An unlikely couple at first, I felt their differences were actually what made them the perfect together. However, despite having chosen the better path in life, mistakes from Nash’s past continue to haunt his present, to threaten his future and add a touch of intensity and dark suspense to the plot.

This is not the first rockstar book I have read and loved by these authors, they write musicians and their exciting, yet wonderfully complex, lives like no others. Many of their previous stories and characters will remain firmly on my list of all time favourites but never before have I wanted to climb inside the pages and lose myself to the magic of the music as much as I did with this book. These authors have a love and knowledge of music which clearly shows in their writing and the multi layered characters they bring to life. Within the first few pages I was wishing this band was real. I wanted to be able to hear their sounds, go to their concerts, buy their albums and rock out! I was so jealous of their creative ability and I would’ve loved to have had their musical talent and to have been involved in the song writing process.

The way these authors pay attention to the details means it's so easy to become invested in these fictional people, their world, their camaraderie, their thoughts and feelings. The banter between them as a band is brilliantly written too, their humour and antics had me chuckling and ensured they were more than simply one dimensional.

You get a real sense that these rockers love their life and that’s addicting. The music references, the drama, the friendships, and of course the sexy times, all make for one amazing read. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us and the members of Brooklyn Dawn next.

Dark, Dirty, Gritty, Steamy & Utterly Beautiful!!😒🔥💘😍🔥🎤🎶🎹
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Play Dirty: Made in Oblivion (Brooklyn Dawn, Book #1)

Lynsey York, Brooklyn Dawn's lead singer is classy, friendly and a consummate professional. Her band is her family, music is her haven & her bestfriend & bandmate, Jamie DuCaine is her soul sista!😍🎶🎤🎸 She's been feeling a little lonely lately, but after a dirty hook up that meant far too much & rocked her to her core, 3 years before, she hasn't been able to face the thought of another man!!😳🙈😢

Alexander Nash is a record producer extraordinaire. He's reclusive in the extreme & rarely leaves New York and his secret laire (home & studio).😂 One of the best guys he knows seems to drag him out of the darkness, by either bribery or blackmail though, it's always for his charitable foundation too, Logan King!🙏 He loves him & curses him in equal measure.😉🙈😎 Due to an Act crashing & burning their work on the Christmas Album is in serious jeopardy, Logan calls Lindsey & begs a favour. Logan books her a flight & has the gap filled not realising Nash & Lindz have a tumultuous past - sparks don't just fly they set off a forest fire!!💥🔥Nash is a grumpy, rude & acquired taste at the best of times but his extreme animosity towards Lindsey is unbelievable given the kind of person she is. Logan's solution to sorting Nash out, locking him up in the venue where the two of them very first met, The Barn, until they can sort their differences out!!😳🙈 Oh boy, do they ever sort each other out - on the piano stool & the stage floor!!😂🔥🔥🔥

Nash has a lot of baggage & pain in his past so as much as he wants her he doesn't think he deserves her or that she should be tainted by his darkness!💔 They're gritty & abrasive style together just makes each of them crave more though. They're falling, falling hard and fast but whether they're prepared to see & except it or run & hide is up in the air! But darkness is slowly creeping in, it's barely noticeable at first, then stakes get raised bit by bit, who is/are messing with them??😳😡

I LOVED this book so hard!😍 I have always liked what I've seen of this band in & around the other stories, in this exciting & loving rockstar world. I've been really looking forward to getting to know them all better, especially Lindz, Jamie & Teagan!!👍🎤🎸🎹 This is an emotionally raw read, more along the lines of the 'Winchester Falls' series than 'Lost In Oblivion' for instance, I was 100% on board with that!😎💥 I look forward to digging into Oz & Daisy's story next!🙏💥

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Captivating, Intense & Heartfelt!

Play Dirty
Brooklyn Dawn, Book 1
By: Cari Quinn, Taryn Elliott
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross

This book is awesome, Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott hit it out of the park again with another amazing novel set in their “Oblivion” world, a world full of interesting characters most are in the music industry one way or another. This book is Lindsey & Nash’s story, Lindsey York is the lead singer of “Brooklyn Dawn”, a band that broke out into rock scene several years ago, they have a huge following and play big venues. They are signed to “Ripper Records, the same record label as Oblivion. Alexander Nash is a record producer, he writes music and plays piano. Lindsey and Nash have history together, in addition to a friend in common, Logan King, they had a “hot & intense” one night in a piano bar NYC where Nash was playing. Fast foward to current day, Nash is working with Logan on recording and producing a Christmas album, when one of their artists screw up they need a replacement and Logan calls Lindsey and she agrees to do it. She had not known that Nash was part of the project and she was not happy about it either. Logan picks up on the angst and puts the two together to work on the song and work out their angst. Nash has his issues and when his dark past comes back to haunt him and threatens all that he loves. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the back and forth, all the the drama and angst, the heartfelt moments, the mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments that take you to the edge of your seat and the hot loving and romance. I adored both these characters, they were great together and for each other, she was the light to his darkness. Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott, thank you for another awesome book, you ladies rock!

I listened to the Audible edition, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are talented narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. Wen’s Alexander Nash was awesome, his Irish accent was melodic, Kai’s take on Lindsey was true perfection, she sounded as I pictured her to. Their duet performance captures the chemistry between the characters which enhances the story even more. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Yes please! Keep writing the Oblivion-verse books and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.

Her body rocked forward, slamming against the piano and killing the music with a crash of the keys.
Concert’s over, fuckers.

I adore the entire series, but I think the ones I like the most are those that span a variety of sub-genres. Rock Stars, Suspense, Angst, even a bit of Erotica - again I say, YES. PLEASE.

Warning Sign's members are so multi-dimensional and defined that I honestly forget I'm reading fiction sometimes. I can't wait to see the other character's books, every single one of them.

This book centers on Nash & Lindsey. (The ONLY thing I can complain about - my last name being used as a first name always gives me hives.) Nash is the definition of a tortured artist. Fame had indirectly led to a tragedy that hurt not only him, but his best friend. So along with his literal pain, he also had severe guilt over causing someone else's.

Where Nash is dark, Lindsey is light. She's a bit of a cynic, and quite sarcastic, but underneath that, she's an optimist. A study in contradiction for sure. She can see Nash's pain, and recognizes a somewhat kindred spirit.

Nothing is black and white about these characters. I found myself wanting to chastise both of them at times for not understanding themselves or others. Of course, that's just another reason this story is great.

I cannot recommend Taryn & Cari's books (both together and separate) more. They are amazing. I've been with the Oblivion-verse from day 0, and I'll be there until the end.

“Light and dark.”
“Sounds like you and me.”
“You chase the darkness. Always thinking you can pull back before it sucks you in.”
“Yet you live there. Willingly.”

I'm giving Play Dirty FIVE bedazzled microphone stars.

One of the main reasons I love rockstar romances is that I love music, and so any book where the stage and the production of the music is a major part of the plot, I’m happy. This book was no exception to that - I absolutely loved it. From songwriting to an epic cover of one of my all time favourite epic songs, my music soul was satisfied with this gem.

These two characters have made appearances in many other Oblivion universe books, and so before reading I wrote down four words I thought described these characters based on those snippets. They were:
Lindsey - kind, welcoming, warm and classy.
Nash - mysterious, tortured, dark and loyal.

Well, as expected based on my previous experience with this writing duo - those descriptions are definitely close to who these characters are, but they’re far from the whole picture.

Lindsey is somehow both self assured and insecure in the least self-absorbed way. She is confident in who she is and her relationships with those around her but being unique in her family has also bred a deep desire to prove her worth time and again. But even the people closest to her would have to search for that insecurity because she successfully presents her confidence to the world as the lead singer of Brooklyn Dawn.

Nash is absolutely tortured. He’s punishing himself for that a mistake and an accident from a decade before the story. He holds no forgiveness for himself and keeping most people at arms length is part of that punishment, but is also a reinforcement that this is what he deserves. Nash is incredibly talented but keeps so much of himself locked away because he is afraid to let his darkest self impact those around him.

Highlighted as opposites to the world around them, Lindsey and Nash are less “opposites attract” and more “our flaws harmonize” in my opinion. Neither is perfect by the end of the book. But what they give to one another is unconditional and safe, which is what they both needed most.

Two characters that I absolutely fell in love with in a story that holds my favourite musical elements. I could not love it more.

I was excited to see this title appear on my kindle as this writing duo of Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott know how to deliver a rock star romance that has just the right amount of everything -- heat, plot and a nice helping of rockstar antics. This is a new series about Brooklyn Dawn, a band readers may recognize as they have been introduced in the Oblivion series.

The book opens with Brooklyn Dawn's front-woman, Lindsay York looking for some fun and finding it at a bar called Ruin. Alexander Nash. Their encounter is explosive. The beginning pulled me right into the story.

Nash is a character that we've seen before from this writing duo -- a reclusive Irish producer that every artist wants to work with. He's not exactly an "open" sort of guy. It takes some effort for Lindsey and Nash to sort out their feelings for each other and they get some help from Logan King in Winchester Falls. It turns out that Nash and Lindsey don't just burn up the sheets, so to speak, they can also compose and perform together in an amazing way. When another artist turns up singing their songs, Lindsey questions everything about Nash, providing a dose of conflict in this otherwise predictable story.

There's a third POV in this story as well, that being Kyle, Nash's best friend. There are few surprises regarding this character and his motives toward Lindsey and Nash, and it takes a long time for all his plans to fall in place. I almost wish there was more from Nash's point of view so I could have some sort of feeling about him, but this book was overly long as it was.

Overall, I liked Lindsey and Nash's story. They were really good together and I absolutely loved Lindsey. The story sings when Lindsey and Nash are on page together and Lindsey's best friend Jamie also lifted this story up. I did find Play Dirty to be long and at times too detailed and repetitious, and that's why it's not 5 star for me.

An ARC was provided for review.

From the beginning to the end

I knew as I was patiently waiting for the release of this new book from Taryn and Cari there would be a book hangover. I also knew with certainty that it would touch all the feels. I also realized that I would get to know more about characters that have been weaving in and out of their world for a long time. With all the certainty of the "knowns" I embarked on this journey with a blind trust that I would be able to come out the other side. I absolutely devoured this book (and it was worth every lost hour of sleep). You get to be reacquainted with the members of Brooklyn Dawn, you have cameos all over the place from your favorite Oblivion World characters and that's just on the surface. The story itself made you feel as though you were right there with them throughout all of it. The scenes were written so you could easily visualize it all as though you were watching a movie play out instead of reading a book. The emotions ran deep and your heart bled for everyone involved and rejoiced as well..when they hurt you hurt when they found a way through you were right there with them. Lindz was the perfect leader but you also felt for her vulnerable side and got to see her look for the real her beneath all the struggles of the spotlight and being the leader of her people. Nash... wow Nash really got to me in his broken ways that even if he accepted his darkness he never gave up the music .. he found a way to exist and with the help of his Dutchess he was able to embrace some of that light again. I adored these 2 alot with the wildness and the music always the music. Can't wait to read more about Brooklyn Dawn. For the shenanigans, the passion for music...and well the passion for each other. Love this world that has been created and can not wait to see more of it.

Play Dirty is the first in a new series covering the group Brooklyn Dawn. The story concerns the lead singer, Lindsey York and her relationship with music producer Alexander Nash. The story is told from three points of view and is considered a suspense romance. It's mostly romance, with a light touch of mystery and suspense. Being a serious mystery reader, I knew who, why and how was committing the problems from their first appearance. But then, I've been reading mysteries for over 45 years!

The book is very well plotted, written and developed, as are the majority of the characters. The main villain was a bit sketchy and lightly developed, but this character wasn't in the story a while lot. There was some repetitious comments about how unworthy, dark and bad the hero was, and how pure and innocent the heroine was that got a tad annoying, but those are more personal irritations. There is a lot of "F" bomb use that I thought was unnecessary and felt was a bit gratuitous. But then I ALWAYS think it's unnecessary. the lead guitarist, Jamie Ducaine was a tad irritating and rather coarse at the start, but her friendship with Lindsey is one of the best parts of the story. Their relationship was supportive and endearing. Lindsey and Nash are an excellent couple and their developing relationship is both realistic and interesting.

There are appearances from various other characters in the Oblivion series that are natural and organic in the story. I thought the book an excellent beginning introduction to Brooklyn Dawn and can't wait to read the next installment of the series! I highly recommend this book.

This is a longer Taryn Quinn Steamy Rockstar story that has a suspense element that is wrapped up in this book. Readers might want to give themselves a decent runway of time to read, or you might end up staying up all night to read just a bit more! At the start of the story Hero Nash is angry, wounded, abrasive, abusive and he is a bit of a temperamental jerk. However be patient and keep reading. First you get smoking hot steamy scenes as he reconnects with Heroine Lindsey and they experience their undeniable connection. Eventually this becomes a believable, heartfelt hard-earned Romance.

Some of my favourite parts of the story involved scenes with Logan from the Winchester Falls Series. Both Nash and Lindsey have lovely friendships with Logan, his wife and their dog. In these scenes in the middle of the book, we see Lindsey and Nash’s true heart energies. After these scenes you won't be able to put the book down. I also loved Lindsey’s connection to her band Brooklyn Dawn who she considers her family. There are also great cameos from other characters in the Oblivion Rockstar Universe as Brooklyn Dawn tours and parties.

There is depth to Taryn Quinn Rockstar stories as the authors give us a journey of emotional healing and love, as well as an intimate look into the emotional process of creating music. These authors never disappoint, and this story is angsty, suspenseful, with heart-pounding steamy scenes and heartfelt romantic moments. I am really looking forward to more stories in this series.

This is book 1 in the Brooklyn Dawn series and for those of you waiting for this band's stories to start-you will NOT be disappointed! In this first book we get lead singer Lindsey York and Alexander Nash's story. If you have read these author's other books then you remember seeing Lindsey and her band before. And Nash you meet in the Winchester Fall's series-which is also excellent. Nash and Lindsey have epic chemistry right from the start but Nash has some serious demons that he has never truly worked through. And after one night neither thought they could truly have anything together, even if they felt there should be more. But when Lindsey is asked to help a mutual friend with a song, it forces them together. In more ways than one. What neither expects is for there to be someone who doesn't want to see them find any happiness together. Or for things to escalate the way they do.

I absolutely loved this first book in the new series! Lindsey is exactly how I imagined her to be!She is not only smart but she is sassy and more than willing to do anything and everything for the people she loves. Nash has so many demons and issues and they just break your heart. He has this heart of gold that he hides from the world and it just makes you love him even more. Throw in the side characters (because hello! I love Jamie!!) and I loved the book even more!! I cannot wait for the next book in this series and I seriously cannot wait until Jamie's book!! Loved it!!
