It pained me to continue reading this book. The end of the first chapter the Brad was talking to his sister and about to leave to go to a strip club. Chapter 2 opens with him thinking about the rod in his leg and is sister speaking to him about going for therapy. Nothing had been said about him having an accident, hospital, surgery, nothing! He goes from liking skinny very young girls to being in love with Sandra (who he'd just met) in about a week. The sex scene's were instant and jerky just so they could use the word "cock". No romancing Sandra, just jumping straight into bed. And the mention of him being a Billionaire was lame. If he's a billionaire he would not have gone to the Spa for therapy, he would have had them come to him in the first place, is my thinking.
I finished the book because I hoped it would get better. It didn't. If this is what BWWM books are continue to be like, and this isn't the first I've come across, then I'll take a pass. Because I'm tired of reading "you don't have to romance me, but easy to bed me" Black women.
Both Freya and Georgina were disappointed when their attempts to ruin other people's lives for their own selfish means. FFreya was just jealous of Sandra's ability as a masseuse and wanted to get rid of her because she did not fit Freya's ideal for beauty. She considered Sandra to be fat, old and ugly. Georgina thought she was entitled to more money from her billionaire ex husband Brad Lovell, even though she signed a prenuptial agreement. She would resort to doing anything to get more money out of Brad. She tried it.
Sandra Daniel was an independent, stubborn and self reliant divorced woman and mother, who was used to doing things for herself for the past thirty years alone. So, when she started catching feelings for Brad, it scared her and she ran, twice. Her philandering ex husband Logan was the only man she'd ever been with in all that time. Being intimate with Brad scared the hell out of her. She was not the type woman he was usually seen with.
Brad Lovell was not aging gracefully. He was on the wrong side of fifty. Even though he took care of himself, he surrounded himself with young women half his age and made the mistake of marrying one who turned out to be a gold digger of the highest order. When he caught her betraying him with the boyfriend she'd never gave up, he decided to live his life partying and drinking until a near fatal accident caused him to re-evaluate his life.
His masseuse, Sandra, was easy to talk to and great at her job. It did not hurt that she was an excellent listener as well. The more time he spent with her, they more he realized he'd never been in love before and his attraction to his ex wife was just lust, he'd been duped by her. He loved Sandra even though she was not typical of the women he was normally attracted to. What he felt for Sandra was deeper than anything he'd ever felt before, especially after she'd helped him to keep his money grubbing ex from getting her hands on more money. He just had to persuade her of this fact and that his playboy ways are behind him. He had to accept that Sandra was her own independent person and gie her room to be that.
I really enjoyed reading this interesting drama filled story about a mature couple. It just goes to show you that people on the "wrong side of fifty" need and desire to be loved too. These stories are too far and in between and rare. I wish more authors would write more stories like this as the coming of age, co-ed and teen love stories have been done to death, and frankly boring. Thank you Ms Davis for this beautiful story!
Georgina took gold digging to a whole other level!
This story was funny in places, sad in others and just plain ole make you mad ultimately. This woman was the ex from the pit of hell. What puzzled me about our hero is that he knew she was cheating from the beginning yet she was still able to walk away with her pre-nuptual money. She was not only a gold digger she actually behaved like she and her boyfriend were entitled to our hero's money that she contributed nothing to his acquiring. Our heroine on the other hand like so many women who get comfortable and convinced we can only depend on ourselves did not know how to relax and allow this man who loves her and who she loves to be in her corner and have her back. I enjoyed reading this story and am real glad our hero's ex was found out. Great story, really great story.
Storyline went along great. Things unraveled well until you get to the end. How did Sandra's ex-husband react to the news that she was in love with another man? What did Sandra's children think about her moving so far from them? Did Brad leave his fast living lifestyle behind him for good. How did his friends react to him being with a plus size woman, were they accepting?
Loved Sandra & Brad with their "opposites attract" relationship. The antics of their exes may seem over the top to some but I've followed true crime long enough to know that people truly are that bad & worse. Nice seeing Brads' shallowness dissipate and Sandra loosen those tightly coiled emotions. Straightforward sweet tale with some drama and thankfully well edited. Well done.
Chasing youth and empty validation almost brings our lead male T.I the end of his life and fighting for his finances. Struggling to work against age discrimination and fiercely independent our lead female is strength personified for her family. Watching the two of these characters meet and figure out what is happening was truly a joy and quite the rollercoaster ride or better yet, quite the airplane ride! Cute read.
It was a nice story but felt shorter than it's 271 pages. He hasn't come to terms within himself that he is getting older. So he hangs out with younger women who are gold diggers. She is been living her life successfully alone for a long time and not going to change that even for a billionaire. The fun part is watching them figure each other out. I really would have liked more time in the story.
Brad and Sandra, both had terrible marriages to terrible and useless people. Brad didn't think he would ever fall for a full figured woman, who happened to be his age. Sandra think rich men like Brad only want young things with tight bodies and she has no time for people like that.
This is another amazing story that ends too soon and I wish there was more. The characters are interesting with great personalities and their chemistry is sizzling hot with lots of drama and emotions running high. If you enjoy reading a sizzling hot passionate romance that is entertaining but a short read this is it you will absolutely adore it.
Happy to see a mature romance with steam. Sandra & Brad made me smile, they didn’t play games with each other, they were honest & genuine with their emotions. Some of the author’s descriptions were confusing, (is a lounge, a patio, living room or a terrace)? Loved the book !!!
I loved this story from start to finish. A love story with traditional values. You don't have to be skinny to find love. I give this book one hundred stars. I pray that more is coming for the fuller figure woman.
Awesome book read in one sitting. Loved the heroine and the hero. The exes were awful, I wanted to punch the hero'sex-wife a couple of times. Loved the heroine's grown children.
I have this book 5 stars because it was an awesome story that was well written. I personally do not read love stories where the characters are mature but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story!
This is the first book I'm reading by this author and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the dynamics of the characters. I am looking forward to exploring more of her books.
I listened to the Audible audiobook version of this novel. I am not ready for mature romance at this time. Once I stopped focusing on Brad's age, I enjoyed the story.
