D.J. Doyle was raised by pot-smoking hippies and spent her days worshipping pagan deities in the HellFire Club and her nights watching horror movies and reading horror books. She now lives with her family in a treehouse, preying on unsuspecting travellers, and where she likes nothing better than coming up with ideas for new stories and plotting her next novel. Some of this might have been made up. To learn more about D.J. Men are such pigs! You know the difference between a man and a pig? A pig doesn’t turn into a man when it’s drunk. They only think of one thing…and they only think WITH one thing. Why can’t they treat us with a little respect – is that really so much to ask? What are they thinking?!
Well, I will show them. Every last one of them!
What the hell – why did nature make us so horny? Right, fellas?
“See, the problem is that God gives men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time.” - Robin Williams
After being a victim one time too many, a young woman develops a taste for severely punishing men who want to take advantage of her and of other women. Woe to any man who pursues her. Be aware that this is a very graphic and gory novella of retribution and of psychological pain. It is the compelling sequel to the story "Red."
Remind me never to meet DJ in a dark alley! This small piece of brutality was really great. Great story for a revenged character and all the things that make her reddest....I'll put this book in the top 2 of most horrifying torture scenes in the realm of Rayne and Sea style male torture. I was literally cringing. So i really want to know how DJ knows what color testicles are. lol....Loved this book
The main character has no mercy when it comes to exacting her revenge. With each victim the torture escalates which was fun to read. I am glad that I'm not a man though.
I loved Red! Now I love Reddest! I love the blood and the gore. What I love most of all is that finally I found an extreme book where it's a female torturing men. Not that I have anything against men, it just seems like there's so many books where men torture women. I love the use of creative torture devices. This book is great for any extreme horror fan.
Bloody awesome! I enjoyed this book even more than the first one I would highly recommend anyone that loves extreme horror read any thing from D.J Doyle, she writes fantastically gruesome stuff!
Everyone has a breaking point. Amanda Price finds hers after being abducted and nearly raped and killed. She has vowed never again to be the victim. Now she will be something else entirely....
"Each tear that dropped turned into a fountain of lava which erupted when I exacted my revenge....
This was a great, fun and entertaining story of vengeance. Naturally, I was rooting for Amanda. She had an axe to grind. Well, not quite an axe. :-) There are some other great, innovative tools, though--one, in particular, that I'd never even heard about. Kudos to Dolye for her creativity!
This was a good, gory, riveting story. I just wish that it didn't end so quickly.
What a awesome series. I really dig these two novellas by D.J. Doyle filled with brutal violence and tons of blood. This series was different due to the fact the brutality came from a female character which is awesome. This book is a good reminder never to piss off a woman I mean damn she was brutal. Look forward to reading more from this author. Awesomely brutal
Thanks to D J Doyle, the curator of the Museum of Fucked-up People, for not just letting me into the ‘sacred' place but vicariously making me experience what it might be like to orgasm from the splash of blood on one’s face, feeling it dribble down the neck and so on...
If that bit of imagery doesn't make the author's intentions clear, try visualizing the amputation of a penis, complete with a background score of sounds that seem disturbingly genuine, as if the MMA fighter, the juicy, sexy Amanda was someone real and going about her male pre-mortem phallic analyses with the clinical detachment of a doctor.
Guess I don't have to describe the Siberian bear-hunting suit and its multiple benefits in the right hands.
Who needs to watch any exploitation movies for the necessary turn-on when they have D J Doyle to up the ante with every ‘red' book?
What comes after ‘Reddest’ I wonder – speaking of both title and degree of sickness.
Reddest is the perfect twisted book to follow Red, written by D. J. Doyle. This book is not for the faint of heart and has quite a lot of gory details on what some abuse can do to the abused. The author has quite the imagination and is not afraid to use it with explicit descriptions. The plot picks up right were Red ends and soon takes you down into the dark alley of the inner workings of Amanda. You soon find out about or dark past and even darker present, but what about her future? I am not one for spoilers so you will have to find out for yourself.
In this book the author focuses a lot more on the character psyche since I am not sure we can call it character development of Amanda and she does an excellent job. It is rather disturbing, which I am pretty sure is the goal of the author. This is a captivating read and I am pretty sure if you choose to read this you will pretty much sit down and read it in one sitting. It takes a horror lover who enjoys the gore to read this kind of book, and I do, so this was perfect for me. So for those who enjoy that genre, they will love this book.
‘Reddest’ is a great follow up to DJ Doyle’s short ‘Red’. It’s short and brutal. It packs a punch to the scrotum.
Doyle really did her research, it felt like she had actually committed some of those gruesome acts. The detail and description was excellent and transported me into the mind of this woman who had been abused one too many times that she snapped. It felt like I was there doing these vile things to the victims.
Her technique for swapping from a male serial killer to a female one in the sequel was good. The stories felt different and the tone and style was a good contrast.
However, I’m only giving it four stars because personally to me it wasn’t as good or as surprising as Red. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a bloody good read and shows that Doyle is set be a force to be reckoned with in extreme horror. And her creativity is brilliant! Bodysuit, anyone?!
The saga continues as a new killer picks up where the old one left off, but will she fare any better? An entertaining read, but not for the faint hearted!
I didn't think it was possible to be more depraved, disgusting, and downright sick than Dwayne ... but then we meet his sister. Oh boy!
This is a veritable FEAST for horror fans, full of gore, twisted moments of psychotic brutality, and a storyline that will keep the reader guessing. A trek into the dark and abused mind of a serial killer and picking up right where Red left off....the sequel is every bit as disturbing and gore filled as the first. From a female perspective, this was a deliciously wicked read and proves gender doesn't matter to the insane. The past has a way of catching up to the future but don't count on this being a familiar path. Original and explicit, disturbing and captivating, count on Reddest to exceed your expectations!
Take a deep breath and plunge into Reddest.....but count on the death toll rising as the blood splatter spreads!
Characters: 5/5 Plot: 5/5 Word Building: 5/5 Story Flow: 5/5
“I saw you from across the room, and you reminded me of my little toe... because I'm going to bang you on every piece of furniture in my home tonight.” (😂that was awesome😂)
Grossly disturbing and fantastic! This is the second book that had me cringing and both from the same author. Bravo! Only thought movies did that.
I would recommend this book to anyone mature and twisted.
D.J. Doyle is among my top five list of authors. The writing is fantastic, well written, on every aspect, perfect plots and a whole lot of scary nails biting thrills. This book is written with a good deal of horror. Perfect for thrill seekers who love the action of a great horror script.
Reddest is the 2nd part of D.J Doyle's book Red. It is a great read, very fun and extremely bloody. A female serial killer is brought into her chosen field of killing through a lifetime of neglect and sexual abuse. This story really brings out the killers emotions and shows her turmoil within. Great character building... This story isn't for the young. People in young adulthood to elders may find this more to their liking... Great job again DJ, keep em coming P.s. this is also a good stand alone novel, it only gets better if you read Red first
I was extremely excited to hear that a sequel to Red was on its way. Reddest continues from the where the previous book left off, again taking the reader into the mind of a killer. This killer has different techniques, and motivations, and Doyle captures these differences wonderfully. I don’t want to give too much away, but will simply say that Reddest is worthwhile sequel to Red – twisted, violent, entertaining, and disturbing. Exactly what extreme horror should be.
This is the second book in this series and follows the story of Amanda from the first book (Red)
And like the first book this is a wonderful, depraved gore fest. I also really liked that the author told us more about Amanda’s history and experiences of men in both childhood and adulthood. It’s goes a long way to explain why she got to a certain point in her life then snapped and behaved the way she did.
If you like gore then these are the books for you. Although not long books they definitely hit the spot.
This book picks up right from that shocking twist and ending of book #1. This one was okay. I enjoyed book #1 much better. I love graphic gory revenge stories!! The cover says, "Revenge Is Better Served In Blood!" What revenge? I would have loved to read about her getting revenge on the people who abused her. But I did enjoy her memory of the douche bag football player (that was frickin' AWESOME!) Somebody call 911! (Fire burning, down below)🔥
Denise Doyle strikes again! I was left in shock and potentially won't be sleeping tonight after reading this undeniably bloody story. Reddest, like Red, leaves nothing to the imagination whilst taking you on an incredibly intense journey in such a short space of time. I'm not necessarily a horror fan, but Doyle's writing style encaptured me from the first page of Newgrange (a fantastic novel) and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and give Red a nudge. My heart has never beat so fast whilst reading any other novel or novella; Reddest had the exact same impact on me.
Doyle is a true force to be reckoned with in the horror genre. Her writing style is sharp; well balanced, and bloody-detailed.
For those who love a good horror, get amongst this no-nonsense blood bath.
OMG........This book picked up, right after the end of part one......So now we have Amanda, sick of all the dirty d**k men. From her brother ( pt 1) to her foster dad, and more in between. Amanda is out for blood, and she LOVE'S blood. She has developed a fascination, for blood the more the better. Author D.J. Doyle has done it again, a sick, twisted, bloody, gory, story that will leave you wanting more. This 5 star book, IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. I will be patiently waiting for part three, and the anticipation of waiting to seeing the cover of book 3 will be well worth the wait. If you are a fan of the movies Saw, well you will enjoy this series. Again no debate, this is a 5 star read.
I thought Red was full of gore, then came along Reddest. Wow. I didn’t think a sequel made sense, but now it does. I kind of understand the character’s drive, same as Red. How does the author do it? Make me feel for the bad guy. I shouldn’t but I do. A blood-filled story with gruesome details. I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommended.
Didn't like this as much as the first which was a shame since the MC is female but I guess it is hard to tell the same story. Still kudos to a woman for writing this and showing the world that women can and do write this stuff too.
