This devotional book will encourage you, convict you and guide you to fulfilling the destiny that your Creator has chosen for you.
I learned that we must be prepared for our calling. The preparations can involve steep challenges and even painful experiences. If we stay focused, our calling will bring glory to God.
We are encouraged to get to know our creator, the One who created us as a masterpiece...a piece of the master. God was very intentional when He created us to be totally unique, rare and valuable. We are custom made for the unique purpose that God has created us.
Many people spend time and energy searching for answers as to why they are here, and what their purpose is. They often yearn to know how to fulfill their destiny. We don’t need to go on soul-searching foreign trips or take any foolish risks and chances. I love the advice given by the author! We need to deepen our relationship with our Creator and we need to seek and follow Him.
Truth is often sought from those In authority here on earth. The most valuable and life changing truth to seek for is God’s truth. We are encouraged to keep our feet on the path that is lit with the lamp of God’s word.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
So here you have a 3 month boot camp of devotions, if you will. 90 devotions/days of lessons to help you develop an alignment with your special design and God's desires and the impact they have when combined. Regarding your calling, "Called for a Purpose" is not prescriptive in finding out what your calling is exactly, and it never claims to. However, it helps you to understand why you were giving the talent or gift you have, pitfalls to avoid, and the importance your calling has to this world and to God. The devotions begin with a verse, continue on to a concise message and ends with a prayer. Short and sweet as the cliche goes. I would say that “Called for a Purpose” would have maximum effect in the young readers and journeyman/women alike. A definite recommendation.
Written by Tony Evans, a well known and respected preacher/teacher, this devotion book will surely bless the reader. Evans plans each one of these to let the believer know how valuable they are to God and how He has planned our lives. Each one contains a verse or two, a nice medium length devotion and a prayer. Recommended.
*My thanks to the publisher via Net Galley for a copy of this book. The opinion stated here is my own.
This devotional book comes across as easy to understand and simple in presentation. Most of it deals with the ordinary and familiar, so most should be able to relate to what is shared. I found it often repeated things I’d heard before rather than much fresh material or unique sharing. The theme and teaching are good. I think the book would be better for new believers. I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
I enjoy exploring new devotional texts including this one. However, although I would not dismiss it, I cannot say that I would recommend or purchase this one for a friend. There are too many rather odd analogies, which are also rather American in style for our British culture. Nothing basically to fault overall but not really for me.
I didn't realize initially that this book's set up was as a daily reading/devotion, but I really enjoyed the short snippet format. The stories shared were memorable, and the applications were poignant and helpful. I think I would rather repurchase the book as a paper copy, as opposed to the kindle version, as I prefer that format for daily reading books.
Excellent book that will help you discover how to find your purpose and walk in it. Dr. Evans breaks it down showing us God's promises, our responsibilities, and how to walk boldly and confidently in our purpose. This is a life-transforming read!
Incredibly awesome book with excellent perspective on life with our Lord and Savior and Holy Spirit. Excellent daily devotions and for anytime you need personal time with Jesus.
Definitely, one I would recommend. Did a lot of highlighting, taking it a little further in the Word and in my own prayer time; insights gleamed and applied.
I found it very insightful, encouraging and a great refocus/start to day.
If you're looking for a short daily devotional that is deep and for any believer, look no further! This was a great daily read that allowed for reflection and didn't take up a ton of time. Would be helpful for those that struggle to find time to have a devotional.
Easy, quick, bite-sized devotions but so encouraging, and spoke so much to where I am at the moment. I always appreciate Evans's clarity of communication, style, and Bible-focused teachings.
I thought that this was a good inspirational read for Christians at all levels. For newly born Christians as a guide to follow, and for veterans as a "reminder" of what we should do and how we should follow Christ's example. I recommend it somewhat like a "daily" word.
Called for a Purpose by Tony Evans is beautiful daily devotional. It calls the reader to make their destiny count each day. Each devotional is purposeful and timely. Each devotional has a wonderful and specific message for the reader. He also uses good illustrations to make his point. The devotional is well written and excellent for the believer at any place in their life. I would highly recommend this book. I appreciate this opportunity to read and review this book. I thank netgalley and the publisher for this opportunity.
