Poppy Green can talk to animals! Unfortunately, they never talk back to her. So she started writing in order to imagine what they might say and do when humans aren’t watching. Poppy lives on the edge of the woods in Connecticut, where her backyard is often a playground for all kinds of wildlife: birds, rabbits, squirrels, voles, skunks, deer, and the occasional wild turkey.

We love Sophie Mouse and have read most of the books in the series now. I also love the Great British Bake Off. So, I thought I would love this. It was really cute (all the Sophie Mouse books are adorable) but for me it was one of the more boring of the series. Maybe because all they do is bake so even the illustrations don't have a lot of variety and there wasn't a huge amount of suspense for me as to who would win the Bake Off. (I enjoyed the The Maple Festival more; it also has a lot of baking plus other features like a fall fair.) Still, if you're looking for a sweet, gentle read for your LO it's worth a look, especially if your child loves baking. I appreciated that Sophie and her mom work together as a team and that the mom believes in Sophie's ideas.

Impulse grab at the library. Recognized it wasn't book one, but surprised to find it was #14! Still, it manages to stand alone. Very short, generously illustrated, sweet, fluffy... and maybe a bit silly, because I just can't imagine whipped cream holding up to being the filling for a cookie sandwich....

This was really cute, and I'm sure it would make a lot of kids want to bake. There were lots of positive moments throughout the book that I enjoyed. A good beginning chapter book.

Read aloud with the younger kids. This was a fun book in the series featuring a baking contest. The recipe suggestions and different ingredients were clever and so well suited for the forest animal environment.

Super cute! Sophie is an artist who takes a break to help her mom prepare some tasty treats. She also encourages her mom to enter the "Tenth Annual Firefly Springs Bake Off." This book has good writing, fun storyline, and cute black-white illustrations. My first time read of this author and it was very enjoyable. I plan to read more of this series! 💖🧁🎂🎉

Another winner in the Adventures of Sophie Mouse series! My 5 yo says “I really liked the cookie part!” A gentle lesson in trial and error, perseverance, and the importance of team work.

Probably my favorite of the series so far. Sophie and her mom compete in a baking competition and have to come up with creative flavor combinations. The end was so touching that it made me tear up!

This is the first book in the Sophie mouse series I have read. I picked it up from the library to proof for my daughters. I loved it. So good! Completely adorable. Positive. Good relationship modeling. Short chapters. Good pictures. Language simple with a mix of new or more complicated words.
I will be getting this series for my girls. The last page of this book even made me tear up. Mother and daughter team. Solid quality! I can’t wait to add this whole series to our bookshelves.

This book in the Sophie Mouse series was just so sweet! A tale about a mother and a daughter doing something together and being successful. Very little about friends in this installment. I've loved the other three I read that started off the series, but this was just exceptional. Probably because I'm a mom and grandma and can really relate to being able to do something with child/grandchild that we both really enjoy. Fantastic book in the series, I really hope my grandchild likes this series!

A great mother-daughter team work story. Using your resources wisely, and trusting in your instincts are part of who you are, and sharing them makes dreams come true!

I love the small-town vibes, and the way the town supports the mom-and-daughter duo as they compete in a community bake-off competition.

This was mine and my daughter's first Sophie Mouse book and I look forward to so many more!!

3.5 stars. Love this series. Sophie and her mom enter a baking competition and they have to be unique flavors. It was a fun competition, but not the most memorable book.

Appropriate for: all ages!

My 6 year old daughter loves Sophie Mouse and so do I. I love that every book has a great message, an interesting story, and a picture on every page.
