With breathtaking painterly illustrations, a deeply enchanting story, and a foreword written by celebrated dancer Misty Copeland, this picture book brings The Nutcracker and the Four Realms to life in a brand-new way. As the adventure from the film jumps off of the screen and onto the page, a new generation of readers and fans will be drawn in and enchanted by the holiday spirit, the beauty of dance, and the magic of storytelling.

The story is vague and weird and I didn't really get it (which is not uncommon for children's books based off of movies that I haven't seen :P). The art though is AMAZING (which it the whole reason I checked this book out). Very well done.
BEAUTIFUL illustrations. Absolutely breathtaking. The story felt like a summarized version of the movie. Granted, I didn't see the movie yet, but I just had that sort of feeling from it. Great story though. I'm excited to see the film! It looks wonderful and magical.
I also liked the foreward at the beginning of the book and the little burbs at the end too. I had no idea Misty was the first African American female to get into the American Ballet Theatre! that's awesome! Also shocking though because it baffled me it took this long for an African American female to get into that ballet.
This picture book version of "The Nutcracker" ballet -- plus a little extra -- is beautifully written by Calliope Glass. While illustrations by Marco Rucci are absolutely magnificent.
Young dancers who read this book may appreciate the inspiring foreword by Misty Copeland.
Beautifully illustrated, briefly told summary of the story that is presented in the film. Nice forward by Misty Copeland though the forward may actually have been longer than the story in this book.
There are some gaps in the story that are hard to fill in if you haven't seen the movie. Because it doesn't follow the standard Nutcracker story, you can't really fill them in yourself.
