Redd & Izzy: An Unexpected Love

Rate this book
Isabelle is a hard-working, ambitious young woman who has her sights on a manager’s position at her job. When she meets Bryce, she thinks that she has found the man of her dreams. It doesn’t take long for her to realize that the man of her dreams was really a devil in disguise. Bryce, a charming, equally hard-working man with some deep emotional problems stemming from his childhood. Bryce has grown up in an abusive childhood with a father who not only abused his mother, but him also. His childhood scars run deep. Not seeking help to deal with his issues only makes matters worse, especially when he starts to take his frustrations out on Izzy. Redd, Izzy’s best friend’s brother, is one of the biggest drug lords in the Baltimore area. His money runs long but he travels a lot and doesn’t have time to chill on the regular with women. As it turns out, the one he has his eyes on is Izzy. When the two of them finally decide to take their friendship to another level, they realize what’s been missing in their lives all along. They’ve been looking for a love that was right under their noses the whole time. LaLa is Redd’s ghetto fabulous baby mama who is all about the money and will get it by any means necessary. LaLa isn’t scared to call the child support office or get into other stuff to get what she wants. She decides that a prison pen pal she meets on Facebook is what will make her happy. She definitely wasn’t ready for the trouble that ends up on her doorstep. What happens when trouble comes knocking on LaLa’s door? What happens when a tragedy hits to close to home for Bryce? Will Redd and Izzy get their happily ever after or will her past come back to haunt her?

The cycle of domestic violence

A great depiction of the cycle of domestic violence. Bryce spent his childhood watching his father abuse his mother and himself. Despite his desire to be a better man, never having dealt with the trauma, he repeats the cycle with Isabelle. A tragic story in many ways, but a happy ending eventually.
I love a good ending, especially for those who suffer such abuse - I'm just on the fence about healing coming through a new relationship. I get that it offers confirmation of what real love should look like but I'd just love to see a woman come out on the other side valuing her own self-worth, self-love, confidence and grace standing on her own two feet.
I rated 5 stars anyway, because I liked the emphasis on the cycle of abuse and how it can't be broken without some type of therapy.

Wow

Wow, Redd & Izzy: An Unexpected Love by Lady Lissa is amazing and emotional read. She does a great job. Domestic violence is no joke. It’s a serious crime. This book is a learning experience. This book is almost make me cry.

I understand that what Victor and Brice are acting this way and hating toward to women because they’re learning from their fathers. Both of them need to go to counseling for their problems. I’m happy that Brice admits and apologize for what he mistreated to Izzy. I’m happy that Izzy has a good friends to be there for her but I don’t know what’s happened to her blood family. La La and her sister need to get some help for them. Redd & Izzy are made a great couple.

I’ll definitely continue to support and read more this author.

Beautiful Story

Thank you for this segment. Allowing Bryce to learn from both his and his father's mistakes to seek counseling was my favorite part of the book. In the African American community seeking therapy and actively participating is such a taboo. However, mental health is just as important as physical health. I'm glad Bryce learned the errors of his ways, felt genuine remorse, but actively focused on changing. His mother having to die was a tragedy but I understand it's necessity. Love how sweet, forgiving and compassionate Izzy was throughout. Her behavior is inspirational.

Great installment, thanks for sharing.

Love shouldn’t hurt.

Growing up in an abusive household can be very detrimental to a child. The male child thinks that women should be beaten to stay in their place, whereas the female child thinks that it’s okay to be beaten. Bryce finally saw the error of his ways after his dad was released from jail early after attempting to kill his mom, only to kill her after he was released. Red and Izzy got together after years of friendship. Izzy’s calm demeanor and forgiveness helped Bryan get the help he needed and also helped LaLa become a better person. Enjoyed this book.

Izzy was a hard-working young lady that had ambitious of being a manager. Izzy met Bryce at work one day and began to date him. Bryce was a handsome young hard-working man also. Bryce had some emotional problems that he faced as a child. Bryce grew up in an abusive household. His dad abused his mom and Bryce thought this was the way to treat women. Izzy and Redd had a good platonic relationship. Izzy was Grace best friend and the brother of Redd. Redd was one of the biggest drug suppliers in the area. Izzy would not leave Bryce because of her insecurities. Love do not hurt.

Wow

Growing up in a house full of abuse and violence can harm a child to the point of ,that's all they know. Watching someone you love die by the hands that suppose to love and nature you is hard and also tuff. Children shouldn't be able to see things like this they might grow up thinking it's the norm. I'm just glad that Bryce seem what he was doing to Izzy and got help. Love shouldn't hurt.

Great read!

I've heard that a hard head makes a soft behind. Izzy had to find out for herself how true that statement was. She was warned about Bryce by a couple people, but I guess she was tired of being by herself. I'm glad Izzy and Redd finally got together. I'm also glad Bryce got the help he needs. I think Redd should have been the one to teach him a lesson. Lol!

Quick read

ABUSE IS NOT OKAY. A short read but Good storyline message. Izzy is a sweetheart but she needs to leave Bryce before she get hurt. Grace is a true friend and she doesn't like how izzy relationship goes when she knows her brother red is a better fit. Red is a busy man in the streets but when his baby mama Lala keeps his son away from his family he takes matters in his own hands, especially when she gets locked up. Red learns about izzy relationship and he comes to terms with his feelings for her and everything blossoms even with a tragedy hitting. Go read.

I'm glad that Izzy got of that relationship with Bryce before it was to late. I hate what his dad did to his mom, I cried real tears. But it open of Bryce eyes and he seemed the help he needed. La la changed her life around for the better. And I'm glad that her and Red relationship became better ,especially for the sake of her son. Red and Izzy make a good couple. I'm glad that Izzy got her happily ever after.
