Charity has escaped from the scars of her childhood by fully focusing on become the best barrel rider around. She has no room in her life for men or asking anyone for help... Until her sister, who she hasn't seen in 10 years shows up on her door with her 13yr old nephew. Her sister skips out in the middle of the night leaving Charity with a belligerent and scared young teen.

A local officer of the law, Dev, who has the hots for Charity, offers to help her with finding her sister and spending time with her nephew.

Connecting emotionally with her readers, Richardson pens a tale that will warm you heart. Her characters are engaging and genuine with true flaws and difficult life circumstances that draw you deeper into her storytelling.

When she came to Topaz Falls two years ago, barrel racer Charity Stone didn't know that she would become a small town gal. She have her colleague from the rodeo circuit and she made friends, but she still kept to herself the details about her past and is hard to approach for men.

Police officer Dev Jenkins have been attracted to her since the beginning but he knew right away that to get a chance with her, he had to give her time and let her set the pace. It's not something they discussed nor acknowledged but they both felt the chemistry and that's why Charity kept her distance and avoid his eyes. He's different from the other men because he makes her feel something. But when the sister she haven't seen in ten years come up on her doorstep with her son and run away the next day and Charity end up having to take care of her nephew for an undeterminate time, Charity will have to put down her shield and ask Dev for his help with the reckless behavior of her thirteen-year old nephew. And maybe it'll give her a chance to reconciliate with her past.

I don't know what to tell you to convince you to give this series a try, but I can tell you this one was my favorite. The MC's stories both talked to me, even if I lived neither. The chemistry between Dev and Charity was natural and beautiful and the way the romance evolved was stimulating and sweet. There was an awareness between then and I adore this kind of tension, when you feel like there's an electric wire between two person. What charmed me (and probably Charity too) the most about the hero was his disarming honesty. His patience, the way he listen to people and his perceptiveness make him a book boyfriend. Is it because I totally understand the heroine need to protect herself in keeping her distance that I found her so lovable? I don't know but what I know is that Colorado Cowboy is a memorable book and after the ninth or tenth book that I read by this author, it was my favorite so far.

Adored this one. I haven't read all the books in this series but easily read this one without feeling like I'd missed something. This story is full of family drama, a sweet slow build romance, and a tiny bit of mystery. Charity Stone is definitely a strong female character and I loved her sass. She's determined to do things on her own and doesn't like to ask for help. When she finds herself caring for her sulky thirteen year old nephew she quickly knows she is in over her head. Will she finally let the town sheriff Dev Jenkins get close to her and accept the help he's willingly offering? Highly recommend you grab a copy of this one and find out!

This is such a cozy and charming small town read (albeit with the drama to keep it entertaining).

This town reminded me of something akin to Stars Hollow (from Gilmore Girls) but countrified. Note: the story is WAY different than Gilmore Girls though, as in no similarities, but for some reason it gave me all the same coziness that my favourite comfort show does.

I really liked the main characters of Charity and Dev along with their relationship. The romance had everything that I hope to read in a romance and the accompanying story with Bodie was just as enjoyable.

I'm really liking this series. I've read it a little out of order so I have no doubt spoiled myself with some of the relationships that resulted in previous books but I haven't felt that I've missed anything. In fact, it just encourages me to want to go back and read those books.

I'm typically not one for a short story. I like a good, fleshed out novel and I don't like anything to feel like it was cut short.

Even though this is an additional short story that was included, I really really enjoyed it. Yes, I still standby the fact that I would enjoy it MORE as a full length novel but actually, I still really liked it.

As much as I like a story to keep me anticipating more, thriller romances can get old fast. However, I liked the amount of 'thrill' within this story. It kept the story exciting and made you feel like you didn't know what was coming next. Yet it also didn't feel like too much, like a mafia turned cowboy romance.

I also really enjoyed the two main characters. They are so different from each other but at the same time, I liked how well they worked together and what they brought out from each other.

After reading, I've learned that this novella features a family that will have their own series and I can admit, I'm tempted to check it out. I liked the characters that were introduced and really enjoyed this author's writing. I think I'd like the full length novels even more!

This was entertaining, but there were a lot of things in the book that didn't add up. Since its fiction you can pass it off, but somethings were questionable. Like how did Charity have money. She was a barrel racer, but is that enough to come from nothing and have enough to purchase a house, a truck, a horse, probably a horse trailer and keep the horse fed? I don't know. Anyway..

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

This is my first Sara Richardson book (I have another of hers on my tbr). This was heavy packed with emotions about family drama and suddenly Charity the main character has to raise her troublesome 13 year old nephew left by her sister who is on the bad end of the law. I wasn't prepared how this story was going to turn out (being the kind it was), but overall it was good.

I wasn't sure how I was going to like this read about a cop and a barrel racer, but I became invested in their story SO FAST!!! They both had some heavy baggage to unpack together. Though it was bumpy for them, I really enjoyed the ride that was this story. You can easily see that they genuinely care about each other as a person from their first interaction.
The dynamic with the nephew was a nice addition in my opinion. Then again, I like when there is a kid involved to help move the trust between the couple along. It brings out something gentle in the characters that I just really enjoy seeing unfold.

Colorado Cowboy will punch you right in the feels! Charity had a rough childhood and it has made her a hardened adult who is NOT looking for love. Dev is the local sheriff who has carried a torch for Charity, but even he has some past hurt.
As if these two aren't enough to get your feels feeling, add in Charity's nephew who is abandoned by his mom (Charity's sister) and in some legal trouble. As a teacher, my heart went out to Brodie. I have seen students like him before: tough on the outside because they are guarding their extra wounded undersides. You can also see why Charity has such a rough exterior as well and again, my heart went out to her. I appreciated that the bond between Dev and Charity was on the slower burn side. Its like trying to approach a skittish horse-if you move to fast, they spook!
The story focuses on more than just the romance between Charity and Dev. There are some deep family dynamics that play a large part. This aspect of the plot is what will really make the story emotive for readers. Richardson does a great job of blending the romance and the family drama into a well paced plot. There were a few times when I felt the pace slowed just a bit, but I think that might just be my personal preference for suspense and mystery in my books.

Dev the sheriff in town has had a thing for Charity Stone for years. She is a champion barrel racer and though she may like him she does not date cowboys. Even after they continue to run into each other she still works at keeping her distance. Now Dev has taken the hint and begins to leave her alone. That is until her sister comes into town and leaves just like a flash. The problem is she left her teenage son with Charity, and he does not want to be with her or in that town. Well, things begin to change between her and Dev especially when her nephew takes off with her truck and ends up crashing into the statue just put in the center of town. Now seeing her at three in the morning is actually better than he thought, and would except for the nephew and the mayor being around. He does come through to help her, and everything gets tangled when the sister comes back in town because all of the good, he has done now may be gone if he has to arrest her. A very good story with good characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

This is the first novel I've read by Sara Richardson, and I had no idea that it was the fifth book in her Rocky Mountain Riders series, but it worked for me as a standalone, and although it was well-written, I had several issues that kept me from really loving it, and it gets a 3-star rating from this reader.

My first issue is with the book title. The story centers around Charity Stone, a champion barrel racer. The hero, Dev, is a deputy sheriff, so I can't quite wrap my head around the reason the title of this novel wasn't Colorado Cowgirl.

My next issue was with Charity. She and her sister, Melanie, had a rough time growing up and being hit on by their mother's frequent boyfriends. Although neither sister was raped, or even anything more than some verbals come-ons and minor touching, yet it scarred Charity so much that she trusts no one and is fiercely independent. Her only real joy is on horseback. Having experienced something similar with a family friend when I was about 13, it didn't scar me for life and it didn't make me avoid all relationships with other people, so I felt that Charity's prickly nature, avoidance of everyone she ever came into contact with, was way over the top. Yes, touching and suggestive remarks are abuse, but far from the worst possible scenario. Of course, their boyfriend-happy mother did nothing to stop it or even acknowledge that it was happening, and Charity's sister Melanie, whose life is very much a carbon copy of her mother's poor child-rearing skills and neglect is following in her footsteps. Charity got out eventually and succeeded at something she loved, so her resisting all attempts at friendship or dating seemed way too extreme a reaction.

When Charity's sister Melanie shows up with her 13-year-old son, Bodie, Charity, who hasn't seen her sister for a decade, is more than shocked when Melanie dumps Bodie at Charity's home and hits the road ASAP. Bodie, whose life experience has been being moved from place to place while also also playing second fiddle to Melanie's messed up life, many loser boyfriends, drug use and bad decision-making, isn't the least bit happy about being dumped by his mom at the home of someone who is virtually a stranger to him. He's understandably surly, upset, and wants to find his mother, and Charity barely knows what to do with him--until he steals her truck one night and crashes it into a $75K statue at the entrance to the town fairgrounds. But when deputy sheriff, Dev Jenkins, shows up at the scene, Charity lies to him, taking the blame for distracted driving herself, even though Dev strongly suspects that it was Bodie who was driving.

Dev has been attracted to Charity for some time, and like Charity and Melanie, he too was abandoned as a young child and adopted by a couple in their forties, who raised him well and in a loving environment, but his biological mother just up and leaving him left its scars on his soul too, so, he feels connected to Charity in that way. Even though Charity is as prickly as a cactus, Dev wants to get on her good side, and helping her with Bodie becomes his way of getting closer to her and helping Bodie, but their hesitant truce is soon marred when Dev learns that there's been a robbery in Oklahoma and that it appears Melanie was an accomplice to that crime, and it's not her first offense.

While I very much liked the serious subject matter of this novel, the lifelong effects of child abandonment even into adulthood, which was handled with deep understanding, I never truly felt connected to any of the characters in this novel, Charity was always ready to tell people, especially Dev, to back off and leave her alone. Dev, on the other hand, kept coming back to her and was almost too good, too kind, and too willing to do anything for Charity and Bodie, to be believable, and the two of them had no chemistry. When they do finally get together, the steamy parts aren't very steamy at all.

Finally, the HEA ending to his novel was way too abrupt, came out of the blue, and, while I don't want to give away the ending, I have to admit that I simply couldn't believe the manner in which it was handled. I'm sorry to say that this novel was more of a miss than a hit with this reader.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Just when I think I can’t enjoy this series more or Sara Richardson has dug as deeply into emotions as is humanly possible along comes COLORADO COWBOY and I’m amazed all over again.

Part of what fascinated me in this romance is that Dev and Charity came from similar backgrounds, not exactly the same but close – and they each emerged with a different outlook on life. What makes the difference? The situation, the people around to help or not help, personality? I don’t have the answer but it did have me wondering as their romance fell into place what Charity’s life would have been like if she’d had a different outlook on life and people.

As a rodeo barrel racer Charity thrives in a male-driven profession. She’s accustomed to holding her own and being one of the guys. When her sister and nephew show up out of the blue Charity’s life is about to go into a tailspin… especially when her sister takes off in the middle of the night leaving behind one angry, confused and scared teenager who already has shown he’s capable of getting himself into some serious trouble.

Dev has been interested in Charity since she moved into town… and she’s equally shot him down every single time. He’s not about to give up and her sudden change in circumstances just might work in his favor. And while Dev would never take advantage of a woman, he’s not above using a chance to show her that he’s trustworthy when it drops into his lap. What also drops is a young teen who is troubled enough to cause harm and put Dev’s hometown in some danger from his actions. How in the world is Dev going to convince Charity that he’s the man for her when he has to deal with the legal troubles her nephew is getting himself into… very carefully.

Dev, Charity, and Brodie – three people with much in common and many lessons yet to be learned. Somehow Dev has to bring them all together into a family because he’s not leaving Charity or Brodie behind.

COLORADO COWBOY is full of emotions, strong ties to the past that need cut and healed, old wounds that need to be lanced and heal over before moving on to a better future. Every time I start a Sara Richardson story I know my heart’s going to break at some point, and it did but I loved the way these three people eventually bond together as they learn to trust each other and themselves. It’s not a quick, easy journey but it certainly is a worthwhile one. If you enjoy going deeper below the surface of characters, discovering what makes them do what they do and you love watching two people finally acknowledge that they want a life together no matter the difficulties involved… then you’re going to love this story and this series. I would not hesitate to recommend this story to any Romance reader who loves a good solid romance with believable characters facing events that could easily happen in anyone’s life.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

Dev is a great guy. He is a honest and fair officer. Only he is being pushed to do something he doesn’t like. He is running for a spot that he would be good at but not one he would enjoy. Part of his journey is to learn this and do what he needs to for him and not what others would like for him. Overall I love him. He is kind, patient, sweet, considerate and gorgeous. He doesn’t treat Charity like one of the guys but as an equal and someone that he is attracted to. He sees her as a woman and someone he respects and wants to know better. He wants to be more than just a friend to her but has to do this slowly because she is stubborn and wants no one in her life due to her past.

Charity is stubborn, hard working and kind. She has worked hard to get where she is and has earned the respect she gets. ONly problem is that now she isn’t seen as a woman perse but as one of the guys. She is okay with this until Dev. He is respectful, supportive and attractive. She likes him as more and doesn’t want to. While trying to deal with this, her world is turned upside down by her nephew landing on her doorstep. This is due to her sister. A sister who walked away from her when her nephew was a baby. Charity loves her nephew but doesn’ know what to do. He is angry and lashing out. Dev sees this and helps. Charity doesn’t know how to deal with this from Dev either.

Slowly we see Charity and her nephew find their way but also Dev and Charity as well. We see where Dev trusts Charity’s nephew and doesn’t jump to conclusions like others do when some situations occur. We see where his patience pays off and Charity begins to act on her feelings. When they do it is explosive and amazing. These two heat up te kindle and have you smile. I love how Dev respects and supports Charity and how charity realizes that Dev doesn’t want to change her but be by her side and an equal. He wants a partner not someone to control.

The story is sweet and a journey for the characters. Charity to see that she can have love and not have it be like her past. She learns to accept her faults and work through her past. She gains perspective and finds a middle ground with her family. She stands up for herself and her nephew and shows him that someone is there for him no matter what. She finds love that doesn’t suffocate her but has her grow and where she has a partner who is supportive, honest, kind and respects her. Who listens to her and is there no matter what.

Dev finds his way to where he is meant to be-with Charity but also he stands up for himself and what he wants to do. And what he doesn’t want and gains a voice in this. We see his love help Charity find her way but also help him gain a voice.

The romance is sexy and sweet. I love how he does all he can to help Charity even when he knows it may hurt her. He does what he thinks is the right thing. Sometimes it does cost him but he doesn’t waver. Charity realizes it but it takes her awhile to see and let go. When she does it helps them become closer and grow. A wonderful story on love, family and friendship.

I really enjoyed this one! It wasn't better than a couple others in the series, but it was definitely better than the last two books. Things definitely weren't rainbows and unicorns and I think that's what made this one great. It wasn't full of unnecessary angst and drama, but rather situations that tugged at your heart and really made you see the people behind the masks they put on.

Dev has liked Charity since she rolled into town - that was no secret in previous books. And she still keeps him at arms length for a long time in this book. At first it was because she didn't want to get close to him, despite finding him attractive. But then she finds herself with guardianship of her nephew and she backs away to do the right thing for Bodie. I had to admire how she respected Bodie's wishes and even though it pained her, she put his best interests first because of the rough upbringing he had before then.

Dev was such the perfect book boyfriend. He respected Charity and her wishes, never pushed his agenda, but rather gave her the space she needed, while still trying to do good things for her and Bodie in the background. He had the biggest heart for helping others and was a people-pleaser. But he also had a hidden vulnerable side that was a result of his mom abandoning him as a kid. I truly just wanted to go and give the guy a big hug.

Bodie was also a great character. The teen was surly, mad at the world and in need of a friend (at least he had Gracie - they were adorable together). His mom loved him, but she didn't always make the best decisions. I loved seeing him grow into a respectable young man thanks to Dev and Charity being great influences and advocates for him.

I'm still confused by Charity's relationship with her mom. The way she portrayed her for most of the book, I'd have thought she wanted nothing to do with her because her mom was such a terrible person. So when she shows up in town, she's still a bit oblivious to the harm she caused her daughters, but she doesn't seem like the terrible lady I expected. I'm glad that Charity gave her a second chance at being a mother though since she had obviously changed.

Overall, a great addition to the series that tugs at your heartstrings and makes you root for the underdog.

Charity and Dev are two of the most fragile people on the inside with the toughest exteriors. They are both wonderful humans who care deeply, sometimes too deeply. While their early childhoods are very similar, the rest of their growing up years are drastically different and it shows. Dev has at least learned to trust others. He still has a fear of abandonment, but he knows enough to know to love and lose is better than never having love. Charity still has these lessons to learn.

As well as Dev and Charity making my heart ache, we have Charity’s nephew Bodie who is like a wounded animal. Bodie needs a lot of love and wants a lot of love and tenderness, but he trusts nothing and nobody and will lash out without provocation. Charity understands this young man on such a deep level and it wounds her soul to feel like she’s not able to help him.

This is truly a beautiful story of three people finding some deep heeling, love, and stability. I had to double and triple check the page count because I sure didn’t feel like this was an over 400 page book! It flew by and I didn’t want to put it down. This author really amazes me with the chemistry and heart that she writes into her stories.

Oh, I fell in love with Charity, Dev, and Brodie. I was right there with their pain, fear, and hope. I know this book is Charity and Dev working on a relationship, but Brodie becomes part of it even if he is just a kid. This has real issues in it that people must work through. Sara did a get job with that.
Charity Stone is a champion barrel racer. She spends almost all her time with men, and she can hold her own with them. That is until Office Dev Jenkins comes into the picture. He treats Charity as a woman and not one of the boys and she is not sure how to handle that. One day her sister shows up and leaves her 13-year-old nephew Brodie with her and doesn’t say why. Now Charity’s life is turned upside down. Charity has always taken care of herself and never asked for help from anyone. That will not work anymore.
Dev has wanted Charity since he first meets her after she move to Topaz Falls. She has always pushed him away and he doesn’t know why, but he keeps on trying. Now that her nephew is here, she is asking for his help. He is going to use this to make his move and start a relationship with her.
When Brodie makes some mistakes that Dev can’t overlook because of his job it puts tension between him and Charity. Dev is trying to do his job without loosing Charity. Is that even possible? Can Charity learn to trust and is Dev someone she should?

This is the second book I have read in this series. Each book can be read as a stand alone novel. So this is great for new readers as they can jump right into this series at any point. I do have to admit that I am a bit bias. This book combines two things that I have a fond place for in my heart...horses and Colorado. Being a Colorado naïve, I am drawn to books that are based in Colorado or authors that were from or live in Colorado.

Right away, I was drawn into this book. I just liked Charity, Dev, and Brodie. If it was not for Brodie, than, Charity would have kind of been of been just another person. Not that her barrel riding skills make her dull but she was more straight and narrow. Brodie pushed her to her limits and to expand her horizon. Speaking of Brodie; I felt bad for him. His mother just leaves him with his Aunt without a goodbye.

Finally, there is Dev. He is kind hearted but also made me laugh. For example, when he got to put on his sirens and drive more than twenty five miles an hour to the scene of the "crime" involving Charity and Brodie and a wild night ride excursion. Dev and Charity did not hook up until about the half way point. The love making scenes are brief but hot.

Readers should make sure that Colorado Cowboy is on their purchase list! You don't want to miss out on this book.

Charity if a barrel racer and shes more then surprised to see her sister at her door after her sister making it clear she didn't want her in her and her sons life. On top of that she up and disappears and leaved her nephew in her care. Worried about her sister she asked Deputy Dev to track her sister down.

I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting getting to know Charity and her sisters backstory. It really set the tone of who her sister is, and why things happens the way things went down. Her nephew was troubled and seems to be going through what she went though as a child. I thought it was interesting also to see the Dev's point of view of how things were going down. He when he was getting leads on Charity's sister he had to make some tough choices and he was already going through stress and this was a the last thing that he needed. Especially since he's started to care for Charity it would make the relationship they have even more complicated when he reveals what he knows and it could impact things and make it all the troublesome. Another things I enjoyed was the heated exchanges between the two. It was clear they cared for eachother and you can't help but root for the best and hope things turn out well for them. Overall this was a pretty great book I really enjoyed it.

This is the first book of the series I have read, and rest assured that it’s definitely a stand alone.
Charity Stone has made a name of herself not only as a champion barrel racer, but also as a gal that will handle anyone and anything. Her childhood was tough. One in which she had to take care of herself while her Mom paraded men.
Dev Jenkins is the local deputy that has been attracted to her, though from the distance. When Charity’s sister drops her 13 year old son Brodie on her doorstep with a promise of coming back to get him, Charity is faced with a troubled kid who’s going through the same feelings of abandonment she went through as a kid. When he gets into trouble, Charity goes to Dev for help.
While the story is engaging and the characters likable and complex, it’s the underlying story that will touch your hearts. A reminder that children who are neglected and/or abandoned by those who are suppose to care for them, will likely be adults that will carry that same feeling. An endeavor difficult to overcome. In this case finding someone who “gets” you and loves you, makes all the difference.

Colorado Cowboy by Sara Richardson is a novel that heats up to a boil and leaves one wishing for me story. The cast of characters tugged at my heart strings all the way. Two women who grew up with a mother that lacked in parental sense. The sisters find themselves in trouble. Both had to grow up fast.

One has a tough trust no one act and the other sister lands herself into jail. Charity finds herself facing her past life. All those bad mistakes by her own mom leave her feeling hot with temper. But for good reason. Charity will also experience that power of love, hope, and forgiveness. Until then, she is dealt with a sister who drops off her now, thirteen year old nephew. A boy who said he didn't remember her at all.

Immediately my heart broke for all the characters. Charity, her nephew Bodie, and her lover Dev, were the ones that captured my heart and soul. They made me want to keep on reading. I laughed, cried, and cheered for them as their troubles unfolded. Watching them break down and rebuild back up was beautiful. Overall, this was a well-written story. One that motivates and inspires to be the best one can be.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

4 star

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Hometown Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #1)
Comeback Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #2)
Renegade Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders, #3)
True-Blue Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders, #4)

This is Charity and Dev’s story. Charity is used to being in a male dominated world. She is a champion barrel racer, so she is used to cowboys. She does not do relationships. But one cowboy is determined to get her to try and he is just the one to change her mind. She can resist him, right? What happens when she needs his help? Can she get his help but also keep her distance? When her nephew starts really messing with the town, he is going to have to take action is she going to push him away for doing his job? Or finally allow someone to help?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Colorado Cowboy by Sara Richardson was exactly what I was in the mood for! This is a super sweet romance where the female lead is the strong character who calls all the shots in the romance! This book is great for anyone who loves plot driven romance where it doesn’t seem like scenes are just being created for 😈👄💏 On a steaminess level I would rate it a 🔥🔥
.
The story follows Charity a champion barrel racer who has recently found herself the accidental guardian of her teenage nephew who she hasn’t seen in over ten years when her troubled sister Melody skips town leaving her son behind. Suspecting her sister maybe in trouble Charity leans on the handsome county officer Dev Jenkins for assistance finding her sister. What she doesn’t expect is that is that in the process she might also fall for him.

So, I really enjoy when I pick up a book and you start reading and you realize you have read other book in the series, and you can't wait to find out what the characters have been up too. This book is exactly that, it was almost like turning on your favorite tv show or coming home after being away. I really had a hard time putting this book down. I really enjoyed how strong and independent Charity was but she also had this struggle about asking for help when it comes to those who mean the world to her the most. I also really enjoyed Dev, he's not this perfect hero and he faces his own demons. I love the small town read on this as well. This book does have a sex scene but over all the book was a really fun read and I can't wait for more from this fun group of friends and to catch back up with them. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Colorado Cowboy is the fifth book in the Rocky Mountain Riders book series by Sara Richardson. A contemporary western romance with a sexy cowboy who makes for some steamy scenes. Colorado Cowboy is a fast-paced romance that can easily be read as a standalone novel. Richardson creates a well written and lovely list of characters you are sure to fall in love with.  So, if you haven't read the previous novels in the Rocky Mountain Riders book series you will after reading Colorado Cowboy. I was drawn in from the beginning and felt as if I turn on the television and started watching my favorite romance movie. I was swept away to another world full of smoking hot cowboys, steamy romance, love, and small-town family. I did not want to put down Colorado Cowboy and look forward to reading more in the Rocky Mountain Riders book series! I highly recommend Colorado Cowboy to anyone who loves contemporary western romance.

I absolutely adored my first Sara Richardson novel! I have been on a cowboy-romance binge and Colorado Cowboy didn't disappoint.

I loved the plot. A barrel racer, Charity, and an officer/cowboy, Dev, who start to develop feelings for each other. There are twists and turns the whole way through which made this even more enjoyable.

Charity is a strong headed woman who loves her independence. Her beauty is striking and men take notice, but she is a tough one to crack. No man has been able to find a way to her heart.

Dev is a man who sticks to following the rules. He is sweet, kind, and loyal. He also might have a small crush on Charity.

I loved getting to see their relationship blossom. The sparks were there whenever they were in each others presence.

Overall, I believe this book is a must-read for cowboy romance lovers!! I give Colorado Cowboy 5 stars. It checked off everything I want in a romance and more.

Charity Stone has held her own in the rodeo world, she means business and takes no crap from the guys. When she decides to settle in Topaz Falls she catches the eye of officer Dev Jenkins. Charity does not do relationships, but when she unexpectedly has to take care of her nephew she finds that she turns to Dev for help. Dev has liked Charity from the moment she moved to Topaz Falls, he is determined to break down her walls. When she comes to him for help with her nephew he thinks this is the perfect time to make his move. Will Dev be able to win her over, and convince her that he is not just another cowboy?

I have completely enjoyed this Rocky Mountain Riders Series this far. The Characters that Ms. Richardson brings us are so real, and she draws you in with each feeling and emotion they share.

As a champion barrel racer, Charity Stone has learned to hold her own in the male-dominated rodeo world. There's no cowboy she can't handle...except for one. Officer Dev Jenkins has made it clear he doesn't look at her like one of the guys. He's caught her attention but Charity doesn't do relationships--especially not with a cowboy. When she suddenly finds herself in charge of her thirteen-year-old nephew, who's had a few brushes with the law, Charity has no choice but to ask for the deputy's help.
This was my second try for this author, so I didn’t really have high expectations. However, she delivered. The story was very well written. I really liked both the main characters. This book is definitely emotionally-charged. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend.

This is book 5 of the series. I had read Book 6 awhile ago and had to finish up the series.
Charity Stone is a Champion barrel racer. She has had a hard life and is independent and doesn't want to mess up her life with a man. Until Dev Jenkins.
Dev is a deputy and has his eye on Charity. He is running for Sheriff because everyone wants him to. He also has some baggage about his past.
Then Charity's sister shows up with her son. Charity hasn't seen them in 10 years since Melody had kicked her out of their lives. Now Charity is keeping her nephew busy and keeping him out of trouble.
Dev is trying to find Melody and making things difficult for Charity to trust him.
These 2 had so much going for them and then throwing in the nephew, Bodie, and letting him know he was important just kept throwing Dev and Charity together.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for letting me review this book.

Charity is a famous barrel racer and she doesn’t take any crap from any guys after the way she grew up figuring if she doesn’t get attached to anyone she can’t be left alone. When Charity’s sister drops in with her son Brodie that Charity hasn’t seen in ten years she is suspicious but she lets her stay the night but when she wakes up her sister is gone. Now she is stuck with a brooding 13 year old boy but Dev the sheriff in town has always had a sweet spot for the fiery barrel racer so he offers to help. This story is about learning to trust someone and breaking down the barriers you have had for so long. Love Charity’s spirit and Dev’s unwavering support.

Great opening line.

She's kind of cynical.

Ew. Pretty sure kids still look like kids. How drunk is this guy?

I could have told her she'd end up taking care of Bodie.

It's not a false accusation if there are pictures of her sister committing a robbery.

Haha, poor Vera!

Yikes, triplets. People have trouble with one baby at a time.

Jett could stand to use some male attention

Sheesh, Gracie, being a good person is more important than riding lessons.

I actually like Charity's mom.

It's not Dev's fault that Melody was an accomplice!

I love the family unit they have built.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. There was no bonus novella included.

I only made it 150 pages in, but something wasn’t catching my attention. I normally get sucked in by chapter 3, but I kept reading and wasn’t getting invested in it. I think it was mainly because the book focused more on the family aspect than the romantic aspect of it. Instead of focusing on the main character’s feelings towards each other, the other focused more on the bigger issue at hand. But that didn’t make me feel anything for the characters. I’m a character driven reader, so if I’m not interested or invested in the characters and their emotions, I don’t feel like I NEED to continue reading.
