Dangerously Distracted

Rate this book
Leslie Manning made the mistake of falling in love once, and other than her two beautiful sons, she has nothing good to show from the experience. She doesn’t need another man in her life now, but being a single mother is anything but easy. When a celebrity wedding brings a hunky security specialist to Barefoot Bay, Leslie is determined to keep him at arm’s length. Except the more she gets to know him, the more she wants to pull him closer.

Michael Duncan has built a business and a career by never leaving anything to chance and never missing a single detail that could put his clients in danger. That legendary focus is threatened any time Leslie is nearby. All too quickly, the only thing he wants to focus on is getting to know the young widow and her two rambunctious boys.

Michael relies on his skills to keep his clients safe, but no one’s record can be perfect. With all of Michael’s attention focused on keeping his celebrity client safe, and persuading Leslie to open her heart, Michael just might miss the one threat that matters the most.

I fell in love with "Dangerously Distracted" from the very first page. Unexpected sparks fly between single mom and baker extraordinaire, Leslie, and the hunky security specialist, Michael, who come together for a celebrity wedding. Love is in the air, but is the timing right for romance to blossom? Can Leslie let down her guard? Or will Michael let his fall too far? Love blinds, and when danger lingers around the corner, everything can be lost.

Angela Evans delivers a delicious and sexy mix of suspense that draws you in and blankets you in a cocoon of curiosity and awaiting what's next. I didn't want this story to end, and I definitely can't wait for more.

A great lead into a fun new reading opportunity!

just finished reading Dangerously Distracted, by Angela Evans, and had quite an enjoyable visit to Barefoot Bay. We all have heard how beautiful and romantic the Florida Keys can be and often find ourselves envying those who live and work there. Well, Angela Evans took me on a wonderful journey of life and love in Barefoot Bay.

The setting was dreamy and I could practically hear the ocean with each page I turned and found myself itching to sample the wedding cake Leslie Manning created for a big event on the island. That big event, by the way, is what brought bodyguard Michael Duncan to the island. In addition to a very pregnant co-worker, two rambunctious boys (aged 5 and 9), and inner conflict, there was plenty of tension and real-life challenges to keep me up way late!

I’m not one to give away hints to the book, but enjoyed Dangerously Distracted well enough to read more of Angela’s stories. I’m looking forward to reading the stories on secondary characters within this novella.

My Review:
I've only read a few books that take place in the Barefoot Bay world. I like this small little Florida community. It's fun with an interesting tourist draw.

In this novella, we get to meet Michael, a security expert on the island making security preparations for his client's wedding and Leslie works in the bakery making the wedding cake.

With the briefness of the book this relationship moves pretty quickly. It was a fun set up. Leslie is a single mother left with her two young boys after her first husband died. She doesn't plan on making the mistake of marrying again...but she also doesn't count on meeting and falling for Michael.

All of this takes place over a few weeks although Michael is only on the island for a day or two at a time every few weeks. There are lots of things that add depth in the background...both Leslie and Michael's back stories which heavily influence how they got to this place. There's also this high profile wedding going on which is key to both of their careers. This isn't the best time to be distracted in any way.

So, no, they aren't ready for a relationship...especially Leslie who was really unhappy with her first marriage. And that's before they even cross over the issues of the difficulties of having a relationship with their very different geographical locations.

This is a quick, fun read. It's easy and entertaining. There's a lot of story in a few words so the story moves quick, but that makes it simple to stay completely invested with everything that's happening. I liked both the main characters and the way that the story happened around them to keep it all interesting.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Leslie Manning thought she had found true love. What she ended up with was an adrenaline seeking spouse that died leaving her as the sole breadwinner & parent for two rambunctious young boys. She's found a job she loves working for the bakery & decorating wedding cakes in Barefoot Bay. She's done with love though. She has no place for a man in her life.

Michael Duncan is a bodyguard & security specialist. He's in Barefoot Bay protecting his client while she arranges her wedding & scoping out the site to get started on security for the wedding. He didn't expect Leslie or the instant attraction he felt. He needs to stay 100% focused on his job.

This story got my attention immediately by the opening. I was able to identify with the characters & forge a connection that usually doesn't happen in novellas. They are too short to get the detail I usually need to form that connection. I feel in love with Connor & Lucas. The trouble they can get into added extra detail to the story. I feel this is a great addition to Barefoot Bay.

Leslie Manning is a widowed single mother of two sons convinced love is not for her after a bad marriage. Michael Duncan, security expert comes to the island to check things out ahead of a pop stars wedding and she might have to change her mind. Sparks fly from the first time they meet.

This is a perfect easy romance read for the beach. There is a mystery in the book, but the main focus is the relationship between Leslie and Michael. It is a fast easy read. I enjoyed the book and will read more of the Kindle Worlds books. Thank you to the author for an advanced readers copy.

such a wonderful addition to the Barefoot Bay world. Ms. Evans hits another great story bringing us the story of a secondary character from her other Barefoot Bay book.

Leslie and Michael grab you from the beginning and don't let you go. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Perfect for Barefoot Bay...Beach Walks, Romance, and suspense. I have read all of the books in Barefoot Bay so I say Ms. Evans has made me truly happy reading this book.

Leslie wasn't looking for romance or love for that matter. She has a good job working at a bakery, and two wonderful boys. But that all changes when she meets Michael.

Michael is protecting his client and Leslie becomes a beautiful distraction he wasn't expecting. It was were boys that drew him in.

See what happens. I tell you there's so much for in this story.
