Barefoot Bay World

Dangerously Sweet

Rate this book
Blake “Dex” Dexter has been undercover so long, and so deep, that even he can’t separate the real Dex from his cover story anymore. A week in Barefoot Bay would sound like paradise to anyone else, but to Dex, it sounds like way too much time to spend alone with his own thoughts until he meets Amelia Barton, then he thinks it might not be enough time.
Amelia Barton had her whole life planned out like she plans a recipe for one of her decadent cakes, but somewhere along the way she got seriously off track. When a cheating fiancée is exposed she decides to take her dream honeymoon alone. Barefoot Bay feels more like home to her than she’s ever felt in Alaska. And then there’s the sexy cop who seems unsure whether he wants to pull her closer, or keep her at arm’s length. Amelia knows which one she wants him to do.
When Dex’s cover is blown and the drug cartel follows him to Barefoot Bay, Amelia is suddenly a target. Dex is determined to keep her safe, but the only way he can see to do that is by keeping her away from him. Amelia has finally found the recipe for her sweet life, but can she convince Dex that their love is worth the risk?

Very few books give me all the feels... Dangerously Sweet delivered! With a recipe for great storytelling, Angela Evans transports us to a world filled with suspense, love, and dash of humor--all set on the shores of sandy Barefoot Bay. You'll instantly fall in love with hothead Blake “Dex” Dexter and the vulnerable Amelia Barton. Their chemistry smolders as we watch them test the waters of love. This book was a quick read with some pretty steamy scenes that flowed along at a nice pace. I can't wait to visit Barefoot Bay again and see what's in store for these characters. A must-read for those who love romantic suspense.

4.5 star Review Dangerously Sweet (Barefoot Bay Kindle World) by Angela Evans
This was a new author to me and the premise sounded interesting and intriguing as it is set in Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot Bay Kindle World; however it can be read as a standalone.
I have not read either of these authors and I have only just recently discovered the Barefoot Bay Kindle World; having said that I was easily able to read this book without any problems.
Blake “Dex” Dexter is an undercover cop, deeply immersed in his cover, so much so that he can no longer separate what is truth and what is fiction. When he is forced to take some time away from his assignment (by his boss who fears he is in imminent danger of burning out) he heads begrudgingly to Barefoot Bay to attend his mother’s wedding.
His disposition changes when he meets Amelia Barton, a baker from Alaska, escaping the memories of a cheating her ex-fiancée, a job she dislikes and determined to make her escape so decides to take her planned honeymoon on her own, also in Barefoot Bay.
Trouble follows Dex when his cover is blown and the drug cartel he infiltrated is out for revenge putting not only him but Amelia in the path of extreme danger.
Will Dex save Amelia by backing away; or will he take a chance on love and dive in?
Dangerously Sweet is a quick read, full of suspense, danger, humour and streamy interludes, well written and a book I thoroughly enjoyed. I will certainly be looking to read more from Angela Evans.

This is a new author to me but I loved the other Barefoot Bay Kindle World book I read so this really was always going to be on TBR, after all was not to love about a place where" You don't need shoes. This is Barefoot Bay"
Amelia is stuck in a ruck working in the kitchen of her families lodge in Alaska and when she finds out her fiancé is cheating on her she has the perfect excuse to take off to Barefoot Bay to clear her head and work out what she wants to do with her life.
Dex is an undercover cop who has been undercover for too long so when his boss forces him to take a vacation he heads to Barefoot Bay where his mum is getting married.
There is no doubting this couple have chemistry but what I loved was how this author makes you feel, it's like you know the resort you can smell the sea and feel the breeze. I will be looking for more from Angela Evans and The Barefoot Bay Kindle World Series.

"You don't need shoes. This is Barefoot Bay."

This was my first venture into Barefoot Bay, and I'm certain it won't be my last. Especially if shoes aren't required.

In Dangerously Sweet, Amelia's running from a job she doesn't like and an ex-fiancé she doesn't love. Dex is running from a blown cover as an undercover cop and the guilt of losing someone in the process. But when Dex and Amelia run into one another on the way to Barefoot Bay? Neither of them is interested in running anymore.

Dangerously Sweet is a quick read, full of suspense, steam, and happy sighs. It had me on the edge of my seat, laughing, and swooning--sometimes all within the same chapter.

(Warning: do not read this if you're on a diet. The descriptions of Amelia's cakes had my mouth watering.)

My first book by Angela Evans and I can't wait to read more.

When Blake Dexter is forced to take some R&R the last thing he expects is one Amelia Barton.

Amelia Barton worked as the kitchen manager at her family's lodge in Alaska. But so much happened to her after her parents died. She needs time for herself. So her friend shows her a brochure of Barefoot Bay looks like exactly what she needs. Meeting Dex was a shock to her system.

While Dex didn't tell too many people about what he did. At one point he had to. It effected his family, and Amelia.
He never wanted his family touched by this and least Amelia.
She made him happy.

What will happen?

So good..

Next after this Dangerously Distracted..

My Review:
I loved the premise of this story...Dex is an undercover cop who's been under too long and is on a forced vacation. Amelia is running away from a whole mess that her life has become back home in Alaska. They both end up in Barefoot Bay as they're reevaluating their lives... and neither of them counted on falling in love to just add some more confusion into the mix.

He's an alpha cop. She's a baker looking to create decadent desserts. Honestly, there is so much to love about this story...AND it all takes place in a gorgeous resort on the beach so there are amazing visuals, too. It's quick and sweet and there's even a bit of suspense in the story, too. So, for the length of the story there is a ton of depth to it. I love that...especially as my life gets more and more busy...I really like a quick read. My only issue with that was that the romance was super-fast...the entire book only takes a week in time, but there is a lot that happens for these characters that is completely life-altering in that time frame. So, while it's a minor niggle that requires an element of disbelief...with this set-up, it would be hard to write it any other way.

There are also some great sub-plots to the story having to do with both the hero and the heroines families. Neither character is getting exactly what they need from their families. I really especially loved Amelia's interactions with her brothers. While the setup may make it seem like they're completely oblivious, every time she talks to them it's easy to see how much love there is between them despite that. I did really love that element. I also liked how close Amelia got to Dex's family with his mother's wedding.

Overall, this is definitely a book that I'd recommend. It was engrossing and really well written. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Blake Dexter has been under cover for 18 months. He is burnt out, but won't admit it. His boss forces him to take a vacation, just in time to travel to Mimosa Key to walk his Mother down the aisle at her wedding.

Amelia Barton is a trained pastry chef, but her life is definitely not where she thought it would be. When she finds out her fiancé isn't what he seems she uses it as an excuse to take a break and re evaluate her life. She cleans out her savings and heads to Mimosa Key.

Sparks fly between Amelia and Dex but both their lives are unsettled. They can't deny the attraction tho. Unfortunately Dex's job has followed him to Mimosa Key putting everyone around him at risk.

This is a great addition to the Barefoot Bay Kindle World Series. Dex and Amelia are both vulnerable characters in their own way and we get to watch how their relationship develops. There is romance, suspense, and steamy sex in this book. I would definitely read other books by this author thank you to Angela for a copy for an honest review.

Amelia feels like she's stuck in place. She's been working in the kitchen of her family's lodge in Alaska since the death of her parents. When she finds out that her fiancé is cheating on her, what better place to clear your head and figure out what you want than the sunny beaches of Barefoot Bay in Florida. Dex is a cop who has been so deep undercover that his boss forces him to take time off. Well it just so happens that his mom is getting married in...yep, you guessed it, Barefoot Bay. Sparks fly between these two almost right away. What possible harm could come from a little vacation fling?

I really enjoyed this story. It was a quick and easy read that I would consider a great day-at-the-beach book. I give Dangerously Sweet 4 stars.

Dangerously Sweet is a delicious story from start to finish, and I devoured it in one wonderful bite! Angela Evans dishes up a romance paired with suspense in this compelling storyline, set in the gorgeous Barefoot Bay. Dex and Amelia draw you into their worlds immediately and make the reader need to know what's going to happen next. Their steamy relationship winds beautifully around the exotic scenery, vivid supporting characters and tempting descriptions of delectable desserts. This story will satisfy you on so many levels and leaves you hoping for another serving soon. Definitely going on my "read this again!" pile.

It has been a long time since I have read romantic suspense on a regular basis, Angela Evans is the author who brought me back to this genre. Dangerously Sweet has it all; suspense, humor and seduction. Evans has created great chemistry between Amelia and Dex, characters I genuinely liked. The story had a great pace with vivid descriptions, I was drawn in immediately. I will return to Barefoot Bay, I hope Angela Evans does too!

Angela Evans delivers another wonderfully sinfully sweet read. An intensely satisfying romantic suspense, with a great touch of humor. Dex and Amelia are fantastic characters. Well written and well balanced. I found myself flying through the story. I would highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a good book to sink their teeth in.

Great new find.

Loved this book. It is well written and kept my interest from beginning to end. Stories about undercover cops are one of my weaknesses. Amelia and Dex's story is no exception. I also love strong women who don't sit back and wait for someone to take care of them. I got the best of both worlds with this book.
Looking forward to the next in the series.

Dex is an undercover cop who is burned out and ordered by his boss to take a vacation. Since his mother is getting married on Barefoot Bay he decides to go there for a break. Angela is not happy with her life in Alaska especially since her fiancé is caught cheating on her. She decides to go on her honeymoon alone. When Dex and Angela meet in Barefoot Bay stuff happens! The bad guys show up and things really get crazy. Can a cop and chef live happy ever after?

This is my first read by this author and I loved this story. It is well written for a novella, there is humor, love and bad guys and Ms. Evans wraps up everything very nicely in the end!

Received an ARC for an honest review!

What do you do if you are at a lodge in Alaska & you find out your fiancee is cheating on you & only plans to marry you to get his hands on the lodge? Take off for the warm sand & sun of Barefoot Bay! Amelia had her life planned out until her parents were killed in an accident. What began as a way to help her brothers out has kept her trapped in the kitchen at the lodge while her plans have gone by the wayside. Dex isn't an undercover cop who was injured & is being forced to take some time off. The lines between good & bad are starting to blurt as his time undercover gets longer. Since he's forced to take vacation, he comes to his mothers wedding at Barefoot Bay & meets Amelia. Talk about instant connection!

I loved this one. Angela's descriptive prose has your mouth watering for more than Amelia's sinfully sweet desserts. You can picture the scenes easily as if she's supplied pictures to go along with the narrative. The characters are well developed & just seem to fit together. The supporting characters are strong & need their own books! I want more of Amelia's brothers! This book was an entertaining quick read full of sex, sand & sweetness & I really enjoyed it!

Dangerously Sweet -- Exciting & Beautiful!

Author Angela Evans is off to a great Barefoot Bay start with Dangerously Sweet—by the way, that is one fabulous title and cover. I loved the set up individually of Amelia and Dex. Then, their chemistry at the initial encounter in the hotel shuttle told me they were going to be one sexy read, which turned out to be so true. Not only is the resort setting scrumptious once again, but I can hear the waves, feel the breezes and smell the aroma of the Dangerously Sweet bakery. Plus, the author’s touches of humor and building suspense kept the story fresh. While Amelia tries to figure out where Dex stands in their relationship, they become more and more important to the reader wanting the hot happily ever after for this couple. As added enjoyment, Dex’s mother is a great secondary character, along with all the other’s making this visit to Barefoot Bay exciting and beautiful!

After realizing her fiancée is cheating Amelia knows it is time to take a hard look at her life. She never wanted to stay in Alaska or work in the kitchen of her family’s hunter lodge. Since she knows her life is already off her set plan she decides to take a vacation to Barefoot Bay to figure out what she wants to do. Dex has been undercover for over a year. His captain thinks he is getting burnt out and after a car accident they pull him out of his job. When he finds out his mom is getting married he heads down to Barefoot Bay to walk her down the aisle. After sharing a car to the resort with Amelia he knows he doesn’t want to leave her alone.

It took about 2.5 seconds for me to fall in love with Dex. This book was absolutely amazing. I will be looking for more books by Angela Evans for sure.

"Barefoot Bay: Dangerously Sweet (Kindle Worlds Novella)" by Angela Evans is part of a series of books 'Barefoot Bay' but it is also a read alone. The author does an amazing job incorporating the characters and the town so you feel as if you're there on the warm beaches. Amelia has put her family first for a long time after the death of her parents when she took over cooking at the family lodge in Alaska, and got herself stuck in a rut. Thankfully someone sent her a photo of her fiance cheating on her and she finally had enough. Amelia packed her bags and headed to the sunny beaches of Florida where she meets Dex, an undercover cop, visiting Florida for his Mother's wedding. Hooking up was in neither on of their future's. Sometimes the best laid plans don't always go as planned.

What happens when a cop is undercover for so long he doesn't remember who he is anymore?
What happens when a chef says she has had enough and leaves her family business for a vacation without telling anyone?
They both end up in Barefoot Bay and their story begins.
He brings trouble and she just brings herself.
His Mom is getting remarried and she is just trying to get away

Together they are going to have to get through the mess that comes their way, while he is helping with the wedding and she is having the time of her life.
This is a good read.

This was not my first barefoot bay book, I've read many in this series and have fallen in love. This book blended seamlessly, you wouldn't have known it wasn't written by Roxanne if you hadn't looked at the cover closely. She blended past characters into the story which is in my opinion the best part of reading a series like barefoot bay, you never lose touch with your past characters. I read this book from beginning to end without putting it down, I just couldn't wait to see how it ended.

Loved this book. I have read the previous books in the Barefoot Bay series. It's always fun to see the characters come back in other author's books. The book have a lot of romance between Amelia and Dex with a little suspense to make it even a more interesting read. Between the romance and suspense it was hard not to keep reading. I'm just hoping Angela Evans returns to Barefoot Bay again with a full length story. I received an ARC for an honest
