Protecting Peyton written by Becky Muth is the fourth book in the Gold Coast Retrievers Series. This is the first book that I have read written by her and I really enjoyed it. The Golden Retriever in this story is Gilda, a search and rescue dog. Although this is a romance book, I enjoyed the mystery as much if not more than the romance angle. I found the book easy to read and the plot well written. I received an ARC [advanced readers copy] of the book. I am glad that I had the opportunity to discover a new author and continue reading a series that I have enjoyed immensely. I think that anyone who likes dogs and enjoys good wholesome books should read Protecting Peyton and the rest of The Gold Coast Retrievers Series.

Oh, I liked this story! Gilda, the golden retriever, was wonderful and I loved her "character"!! I wanted to run out and get a dog after reading this story! She sure was a special search and rescue dog. I'm so glad there are fantastic dogs like this in the world! Her handler, Peyton, was a special character too. I really liked her sensitivity, caring and yet strength. She was extremely protective of Gilda which won me over right away! They were a team - a dog and her handler! Things do not go well when Peyton meets Kurt for the first time on a beach and Gilda saves him. However, when Peyton's brother disappears into thin air, she turns to Kurt, who is a police officer, to assist her in her search for her brother. I loved the mystery of this case and the developing relationship between the two "humans"!

Gilda will snoop her way into any animal lovers heart. Protecting Peyton is one woman's quest for answers and one man's chance to prove himself a hero. Peyton is determined to find her brother. When her trusty pooch points her in the direction of the most infuriating man is when the adventure really begins. Unanswered questions, an hard to resist furry friend and a mystery just waiting to be solved. From heartache comes happiness wrapped up in intrigue.

What a delightful, sweet story - but with enough surprises to keep me guessing! I really enjoyed Ms. Muth‘s cozy writing and adored the golden retriever - adding animals makes the story come alive! Perfect read for those who like a lighter romantic suspense story without explicit gore, etc.

This is my first book by Becky Muth and I am absolutely delighted to say that it was everything I have come to expect from this amazing group of authors. I loved Peyton and Kurt and of course, the beautiful Gilda and there was that touch of mystery to spice up the story.

Excellent, Heart-warming Story!!!

The very first inclination that this would be my kind of book was when at the beginning of the book, I read Becky story about how a sweet dog lifted her out and above the sadness. From there on I was United with Becky's heart and could not put the book down. So much so that I did not sleep much. Haven't been to sleep yet but I just finished the book so hopefully sleep will come soon.
This was an excellent book that kept you guessing and it was surprising until the end.
This book was a delightful read.

A real page-turner

The book starts with a moving letter from the author. Very personal. So brave to share this! So beautiful. I felt it deeply. Thank you.

This was ‘enemies to friends to lovers’: I love that trope. I also loved that Peyton and Kurt’s love didn’t develop too quickly. This way I could really enjoy the ride. And wow, what a ride! Wow. Wowwowwow. I L-O-V-E-D it!

The little chapter cliffhangers (for lack of a better word) kept me reading. Of course, alternating POV’s meant I had to wait another chapter with its own little cliffy; such a page-turner! Let me be clear: the book does NOT have a cliffhanger; I just meant the book is written in a way that keeps you turning those pages faster than humanly possible.

Not everything is hooray and hosanna, but as hard as it was it was equal parts beautiful. A sweet HEA completes this amazing trip.

It tugged at my heart. Peyton and Kurt are so cute together; I could really feel their connection. And search and rescue dog Gilda is a star! This book goes on my favorites list.

Protecting Peyton by Becky Muth is the fourth book in the Gold Coast Retrievers series and to be honest, my favorite so far (there’s two more left!). I love the combining of family dynamics, both on and off a job, the need to stop and think that maybe there is another reason for the situation than you think and learning to look inside of yourself for the answers, of course with Gilda (the golden retriever) helping to add to the solution.
Peyton has a search and rescue golden retriever that saves Kurt from sharks as he is surfing but misconstrues the situation not knowing about the sharks until later. Kurt is a cop with the local police force where his dad is Sargent. Situations happen that bring Peyton, Gilda and Kurt together. But can two people who obviously get on each other’s nerves work together to solve the mystery?

This is book four of The Golden Retriever series to which I have read slowly working my way through the series but in no particular order. I have not read Becky Muth before, so I have quite impressed with this book, as the story and characters where very strong and emotional. I love animals and to read about a search and rescue dog that now has the task of helping to find her owners missing brother.
This book is a romance book but with a mystery twist to which I very much enjoyed almost more than the romance story. I love finding and reading new authors and with this series this is what I am finding the most enjoyable thing. Oh as well as the Dogs. I was given an ARC copy of this book to which I am now giving my honest and voluntary review of. Once you start you will be hooked to see it to the end.

Protecting Peyton by Becky Muth is the four in the Gold Coast Retrievers series. Each book can be read on it's own but you will enjoy the series more if you read them in order.

This was the first book that I've read of Becky's and I REALLY enjoyed it.

Once I began reading this story I couldn't put it down. I wanted to know how the book ended. Did they find Peyton's brother, Owen? Was Peyton able to discover her heart is better with Kurt than without?

If you like clean books with suspense than this is the book for you.

Honest review left in exchange for ARC. This was a fast paced read, full of excitement, drama, action, romance and emotional scenes. The characters have depth. Kurt and Peyton get off to a bad start but slowly build up to better relationship. Gilda was absolutely adorable and learning more about search and rescue animals was quite interesting. Liked the interaction between characters and the story flowed smoothly. So far loving the entire Gold Coast Retrievers Series!! Definitely worth the read!!

Peyton and Gilda are the perfect search and rescue team. Gilda surprises her owner Peyton by performing a water rescue.
Kurt, a local policeman, is surfing when he unexpectedly he gets pulled out of the water by a dog. He later learns the dog saved him from sharks.
Payton and Kurt will soon be thrown together while trying to find her missing brother Owen. They will both learn that love isnt always with who you pick out but who your heart chooses.
This was such a great book about Gilda, the service dog, who is the perfect companion.

If you love golden retrievers that have a job to do, you will love this book.
Search and rescue dogs are special. They sense danger and act on it with permission from their handler.
When Gilda rescued Kurt, he was furious! Peyton doesn't understand why he is so mad. When teens show a video to Kurt, he understands why he was rescued. It took a while but he finally got to apologize.
I hope to read more from this author.

What if you had a search and rescue dog but that dog is unable to find the only family member you have left. This story of Peyton who's brother disappears is engaging. The initial meeting between her and police officer Kurt is not good. But when he helps her with finding out where her brother might be their feelings grow. But until her brother is found Peyton is not willing to be romances. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.

"Sometimes Lovelines Are Thicker than Bloodlines"

Rescue dog, feisty handler, cop; I was laughing out loud by the second chapter even though the hero had nearly been killed. Major drama leavened by deft and quirky handling of dialogue and personal interactions. You now know everything you need to for full enjoyment of this fun mystery and romance!

But WAIT! There's MORE! I got to listen to Jennifer Gilmour's narration of this delightful story--icing on the cake.

Another wonderful story in this series! I received an ARC for an honest review.
Peyton and Kurt have a rough start. Gilda the dog saves his life, but he had no idea the danger he was in. Peyton's brother goes missing and Kurt tries to find him since he is a cop. Add in some suspense, a little drama, some miscommunication, and tack on a happy ending and you will have this story. Loved it from start to finish!

"A Great Story Of Love"

This is a lovely story about Peyton McIntyre who has recently learned her brother is missing. Police are really not working enough to find him. Kurt Collins is the police officer who infuriates her because he's not doing his job. She and he tangle together and Peyton just might be able to save Kurt's reputation and maybe even find her brother. Maybe, Gilda, Peyton's dog can also help solve all their problems! A very enjoyable story to read.

Such a good book! I couldn’t put this book down. I loved all the characters in this book, my favorite is Gilda. This book had such a wonderful plot. There was mystery, surprises and romance. This book can be read as a stand alone but I loved that there were some places and the other dogs incorporated into the story. This is a definite must read! I didn’t want this book to end.
Received a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Search and rescue dog mystery

I liked this story in the series as it had more of a story that involved a dog. Peyton meets Kurt when her dog Gilda rescues him from sharks. There are a series of misunderstandings that they work through. Kurt is a cop who helps Peyton look for her brother Owen. The characters are interesting and my only complaint is wanting a bit more of the back story to the mystery. Good read

This is the forth book in the Gold Coast Retrievers Book and like the previous books the hero of the story is a working golden retriever. Gilda rescues Kurt, who is not all that happy at first but later realises that he should have thanked Peyton. They have a rough patch but eventually they get their happy ever after. This an easy to read sweet story.
