What Are You Expecting? Life is filled with unexpected journeys, both good and bad. While it’s often easy to see God in the good times, it can be challenging to hold onto hope in the midst of tragedy and impossibilities. In the darkness, things often seem hopeless. But what if God could introduce unexpected, supernatural solutions? What if the giants you are facing didn’t have the final word? What if something impossible and irreversible could be changed miraculously? Wife, mother, and minister Rachel Shafer takes you on a raw journey through her compelling story, filled with angelic intervention, Holy Spirit revelation, divine dreams, and supernatural encounters. From five miscarriages, to adopting a child with special needs, to a ceaseless onslaught of medical issues, Rachel learned in the darkness how to expect God to come through—and He did, again and again! When you expect a God-encounter in your darkest hour, He will redeem what seems hopeless with supernatural answers!
Interesting read about a mother who had 5 miscarriages, 2 biological children, and 2 adopted children from China with special needs. This is her story of how God shows up in unexpected ways.
Wow! Inspiration for the hopeless Excellent testimony.
I loved this book. I began reading at a time when I felt all was lost. I was struggling to maintain my faith in surmountable loss. I was holding on by a thread and just refusing to let go. But the author’s determination and faith in her daunting challenges helped me. She is an example for me and others to follow. To expect God when everything says to give up. To expect God even when you have made a mess of your life. To live a life in hope and faith in God. Like Rachel my miracles are a work in progress and I see what God has done thus far but I continue to believe that He will create in my life, He will bring to completion what He has started.
Great book. We have 4 boys and two are adopted. It brought back many memories of the years before our boys and during the adoption process. It brought back also many memories of my boys accepting their God-given right to try and kill themselves with the extremely creative boy-ish ideas! I swear there was a time in which we were collecting frequent flyer miles at the local Emergency Department. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there was a running pool going as to why our family would be running into the ED next.
Reading about Rachel's journey was so real and relatable. Such a great encouragement. It amazed me how despite the great things she was facing, she still sought after the Lord. Many times, we spiral and lose our way, especially after devastating news or events, but I loved the way God showed up for her through her family, friends, and the support network she had. I would recommend this for anyone going through really valley moments. It certainly stirred up my faith!
This book really encourages me to keep believing in God even when the circumstances seem not promising. Rachel and her family is a living proof of how faithful God is during the hard times. I would highly recommend this book to Christians who are in doubt of their future or in the long waiting of their prayers to be answered
A beautifully written book of a mother’s heartache over the suffering of her children, and the sweet victory she has through faith in God as she and her husband walk with Him through the trials they have encountered, and are still encountering. EXPECT GOD is encouraging and uplifting. A great reminder to focus on God’s promises, not our problems.
Engaging you at the very beginning with a personal storyline, with a terrific style of writing that keeps you there. I grew more passionate, and was brought in to contemplate MY personal situations, while reading hers. Beautiful sharing of sweetness and power of All Mighty God, His son Jesus, and the work and presence of The Holy Spirit. Amen!
This is a true story of this family. She lives out the three words I used as a title. All three action words not just emotion or attitudes. We can practice faith hope and trust no matter out circumstances. Rachel explains how she lives that out.
Rachel shares her life stories to help others build their faith in the goodness of God. Journey with Rachel as she lays claim to God's hold word of promises to the faithful.
It definitely helped me look into my situation and be able to see hope despite the circumstances. I recommend the book whether you have a mature spiritual life or not. This book will leave you with peace and hope for a better future.
This book is a wonderful story of a family whose faith is exceptional. It taught me how to expect from God what I pray for and to believe the miracle is on it's on its eay.
At times when you choose a book to read you are not share why . This book reminds me how much God is alive and still working in our lives. How much we need to remember who he is and how he how much he loves us . My faith is stronger for reading this book.
This is the best book ive read by a Christian author. Rachel s faith takes a bigger step by leaps and bounds as she and her husband experience miscarrages and adoptions of special needs children from China
Liked that it’s such an encouraging read - that we must remain thankful, prayerful and hopeful at all times. Be still and listen to Holy Spirit for guidance and hang on to God’s faithful promises.
I absolutely loved the positivity in this book, especially considering the state of the world right now. GOD MOVES MOUNTAINS FOR THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO TRUST AND BELIEVE
I love how the author writes about how the Lord was with her as she and her family went through tough times. Jesus is the great physician and got them through it all!
What an uplifting and encouraging book! God is faithful and we see that in Rachel's story filled with love and promise. She is a living tribute to the scriptures!
It is a reasonably good read, offering inspiration and hope in the face of life's challenges and uncertainties. Rachel Shafer shares a personal journey of perseverance and faith and the power of expecting God to intervene in impossible situations.
A powerful read about the courage of a praying Mom that fought for the lives of her children. I couldn’t put this book down! These pages are filled with powerful inspiration
I cannot even begin to imagine what Rachel and her family went through. Her family are practically heroes! I'm so thankful that Rachel took the time and effort to share her story, and to encourage others to continue to expect God.
