Sawyer Jenkins attempts to maneuver through societies' pressures of adulthood: financial instability, still living at home with family, job stagnation, men or lack thereof, and the physical transformation of a young woman on the verge of 30. As Sawyer attempts to "adult" she dissects the world and her purpose while dispelling stereotypes placed upon black millennial's.
This book was based in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Almost 30 by Victoria Kent wasn't a bad read for a first-timer. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy it. With that said, it was the viewpoint of life by an almost thirty year old living at home after graduating from college. She had big dreams, but none were coming to pass. Victoria Kent really captured the streets of Baltimore during her era, and she made great points about her life, life in general, and family. This was a three 🌟 read for me.
