This was a finished “writing project” of Daniel, a 12-year-old boy with autism. He wrote about his everyday routine in school and home, his activities following a schedule. He shared things he likes, such as wearing his favorite shirt, baking cookies with his mother, seeing a yellow beetle car on the road, and his knack for keeping things in order. But he also had a fear of change, may it be just a change in his schedule, a change in his shirt, change in people around him or just plain loud noise.

His project may be simple in words, but powerful in message; it gives awareness how children like him perceive the world, and how they struggle to live in it. As for Daniel, he manages, with support from his family, friends, teachers and life coaches.

The illustrations accompanying the text are wonderful as well!

Its a nice book that raises awareness on Autism to children. It was easy to read and I also love the illustrations. That being said, I would love to have more conflict and maybe see more action from the family. Aside from the usual, what do they do to provide intervention for Daniel. I think this part was not explored enough.

A solid 4 stars. I really liked this book. It was a required reading and school and normally I don't finish or I don't enjoy reading assigned books but this one was nice. It gave me a different perspective. Of course I did know that no one was the same and that there were a lot of different people in this world but "Inside Daniel's Head" gave me a peek into what it was like to be different from myself. It showed me how it was like inside the head of another person. The book was simple yet it explained and showed me so much.

After a heavy read, I wanted to go for something light. Little did I know that in its simplicity, the story sends a deep statement - the need to be kind. INSIDE DANIEL’S HEAD is about a kid who has autism and gives the reader a glimpse of how one with this condition is wired. It shows the impact on his family and how he sees the world through his eyes. It’s a very touching story that makes Danny unforgettable.
