Daniel Cavanaugh has it all—a lucrative career as a lawyer, a gorgeous fiancée, and his future mapped out for him. So why is he feeling increasingly dissatisfied with his life? When the assignment to handle his late grandmother's estate takes him to the California coast, Daniel welcomes the escape. Staying at the nearby bed-and-breakfast isn't really his style, but he soon realizes the inn may hold the key to the answers he's been seeking. Spindrift Cove has few opportunities for a young unmarried woman like Sarah Michaels. Even so, she enjoys her solitude as owner and chef at the Neverland Inn. She thrives on catering to the needs of her guests and treating them to her fantastic cooking. But when Daniel walks through her door, he immediately tests her patience. Though he is handsome and well-bred, she finds him insufferable. Soon, however, the tranquility of the inn works its magic, and Daniel and Sarah forge a sweet and unexpected connection—until the life he left behind in the city demands his return and it seems that a happily ever after may not be on the menu after all.
K.C. Grant loves to write! From bad poetry at the age of seven to not-too-much-later attempts at a novel where the main character was a talkative red-haired girl (yes, that wasn't very creative) she has loved to create stories. In her adult career, she has written for family oriented magazines like BackHome, Parents and Kids, The Washington Family and LDSLiving. She was so excited about the release of her first novel in 2010, "Abish: Daughter of God." A sequel, "Abish: Mother of Faith" continues the story of Abish and focuses on the mothers of the stripling warriors.
K.C. will also get to continue her fascination with the setting of Mexico (this time with a modern twist) when her suspense novel titled "Venom" which came out January 2012.
She also belongs to three writers' groups and various other organizations that keep her very busy.
First things first, l would like everyone, who does take the time out to read this review, to just sit back and admire the absolutely gorgeous cover picture!! Isn't is just absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful?! 😍💞 I love, love, love this picture. Just makes my imagination run wild!
Second, reading this book reminded me of the Hallmark romance movies that I love to watch.....you know the kind of movies where you know from the start what the end will be like (happy duhh!) but you still love to watch them because you don't want to miss out on the journey leading to that happy ending? If yes, then yaayy you are a sucker for romance like me 😁, if no, oh well then....😐.
Third, it mentions food. Not only does it mention food, the book also includes delicious, easy to make recipes of dishes which the leading lady, Sarah whips up in each of the chapters preceding it for our guests and leading man Daniel Cavanaugh (I have noted them down btw).
Fourth, because it is such a simple, sweet story and I liked how the theme of Neverland/ Peter Pan was woven subtly and cleverly into the story line and how it helps bring people together.
All in all, it was a nice, cosy, winter read. Thank you NetGalley, Covenant Communications and the author K.C. Grant for providing me with a copy to read.
First of all, don't read this book if you're even remotely hungry, because there are some very delicious-sounding recipes included after many of the chapters that I must try out stat!
Sarah is a slightly scattered B&B owner, yet she will bend over backwards to make sure your stay is near perfect. She rents out only one guest cottage at the home that was her aunts, and seems to thrive on the simplicity and comforts of a small town. She's a very unassuming and caring person, which is perfect for the uptight and robotic Daniel. He's driven by his father's wants and wishes, until his pace is forced to slow down.
I loved the Neverland/Peter Pan theme that is dispersed throughout the story, and especially how it ties many unlikely souls together. There is a feeling of comfort and nostalgia woven between the relationships, setting, and characters. An almost magical feeling cast its spell over me as I read this one. Now, if only someone would make me some of that delicious food while I put my feet up for a minute...
Content: mild romance; mild moment of peril

This is a sweet and gentle story full of heart and delicious cooking. I liked that after each chapter was the recipe for the dishes that were mentioned and I plan to try a few! The pace was a bit slow and I was missing some depth and connection, but overall it was a pleasant read about two individuals that couldn't be more opposite, and the quaint inn off the beaten path that brings them together. Daniel is the one who did most of the changing, but it was a change he was ready for, one he didn't even know he was seeking. Once he allowed himself to turn off his father's voice in his head and tap into his softer side encouraged by his beloved grandmother, he became more likeable not only to the reader and Sarah, but to himself. The theme of finding "Neverland" by embracing sentiment and childlike joys gave the book a sweet and hopeful tone.
(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)
I would love to get away to "The Neverland Inn". A nice B&B in a small town with hills to hike, someone to cook for me, and some down time. It sounds like a little piece of "heaven on earth."
Daniel Cavanaugh discovers the Inn by accident. He decided not to head straight home after taking care of some legalities for his grandmother's estate. He is frustrated with his life and wants a little more time before heading back to San Francisco and his father law firm. His life has been planned out for him by others. He faces a lot of expectations and isn't sure what he wants to do with them.
Sarah Michaels is a great hostess. She is kind, and really wants to give her guests a pleasant stay at her Inn. She can't figure out Daniel though. He isn't the typical guest. Little by little she is able to break through his walls to see the man that he really is.
This is a sweet contemporary romance. It has 184 pages, so it is a quick read. I liked the small town feel of the book and the friends that stop by. One of my favorite characters is the dog, Muttley. He creates some seriously humorous situations.
This book has a great feeling to it and I enjoyed it. It is clean with a little bit of kissing.

The Neverland Inn is an absolute pleasure to read. Sarah is a delightfully pleasant character. She has the characteristics of someone I would want to be friends with. Sarah is an all-around genuine, kind person. I admit it took me some time to warm up to Daniel, he was too much of a stuff shirt, but once I did, I couldn't wait to see how their relationship would develop. This book also had a fun "treat", all the recipes sound amazing. I love books that incorporate recipes, and when I was reading, it definitely made me hungry and I wished I was a good cook. :) The Cheer-Up Chocolate Chip Cookies would be amazing and wow, did they look good. I liked the turn the climax took and it made me appreciate Daniel more and more.
I loved the idea of The Neverland Inn. I’m always looking for new recipes to try. So having this book have them incorporated with the story sounded fantastic! I definitely want to try some of the recipes in this one. But I think the idea was better than the finished product for me.
This book’s main characters are Daniel and Sarah. Daniel is a lawyer who basically hates his life. His parents are frustrating and not loving. And his girlfriend, while beautiful is terrible. Daniel spends the whole first part of the book almost in a fog. His grandma has just died and because of his job, he ends up being the one to have to take care of her estate. Maybe it was the way he was in a fog, but the whole first part of the book seemed a bit sleepy to me.
I liked Sarah. She is the owner of the bed and breakfast, The Neverland Inn. She works hard to care for any customers she has. I loved the way she had all kinds of fun recipes. Her life revolves around her inn, her dog and the kids she helps at the local school. Sarah’s parts of the story were better for me than Daniel’s.
I did like the plot as it got nearer to the end of the book. It didn’t seem as sleepy and there was a bit of a mystery that needed solved. I also liked the recipe box and the way it kind of tied everything together. The ending made up for the sleepy beginning to me.
Romance, clean; Contemporary Sarah's lovely little hideaway inn with her sweet disposition, cooking, and lovely location was a lovely place to visit. Sarah and Daniel's interactions, while off at first, made for a sweet romantic fall. The missing little girl pulling them together at last and finding a HEA not only for that family, but for their two lonely hearts. Some sweet romantic moments, lovely food, and nice town setting. A lovely escape into that small town life and away from the rat-race for Daniel. Finding his heart-home was a lovely fall and read. I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley for review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
Cute cover & title! New to me author, brings an original plot set around a very small B&B on the California coast. The set up is done well, and the development of the friendship between Daniel & Sarah is pretty typical. Polar opposites that discover they might actually have more in common than they first think. I would have liked to have seen a little more growth in Sarah's character. The story of Peter Pan is interwoven cleverly into the book, though it's not dominant. The ending was a little predictable, and wrapped up a little too quickly. This is a very sudden romance. However, I liked the contrast in characters and the conflicts that Daniel faced within his 'other' life. This is an easy read, with a fresh contemporary and fun story.
The inclusion of the recipes seem to reflect the authors love of cooking (as she describes in her author notes) and is a nice touch, should you feel the need to try out any of the meals described by Sarah in her kitchen prep.
Thanks to Netgalley & Covenant Communications for the eARC. This is my honest review.
Wasn't quite sure about this book when I picked it up, but quickly found a book full of interesting characters and a storyline to match. Predictable, sure, but also entertaining and just when it seems to all be over, there's even more to the story with a community emergency. My only disappointment is that it's kind of a small book, so it was over too soon, but that's hardly a problem with my to-read stacks of books. ;)
This was a very cute romance. I enjoyed Sarah's character and loved to get to know her. Daniel was a little bit harder to like, although I felt for him in the beginning and the situation he was placed in. I haven't quite put my finger on what I was missing with Daniel. At times I felt like Sarah turned shy when she didn't need to, but I enjoyed the story. The recipes included appeared easy enough that as an untalented cook, I could try them. This is a story that I can recommend for everyone though.

I whipped through this wonderfully written sweet story that had me cheering for Daniel and Sarah to find a way to be together. The delicious recipes throughout also helped to keep me smitten. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I absolutely adored this book! I liked the subtle Peter Pan theme. It was the first reason I was drawn to the book. I really enjoyed the addition of the recipes. It is a great book!
This was my first read from this author. I picked it up because the cover looked pretty plus it is from a publisher that I know offer good, clean reads. Anyways, in this story we follow Daniel and Sarah as they find their true selves and find each other at the same time. Daniel is a top lawyer in San Francisco that feels like his obligations to others is stifling his life, making him feel depressed. On the other hand Sarah feels like she is in a beautiful place but there is something missing in her life. Their paths crossed when Daniel decided to stay at Sarah's Inn. Their first impression of each other was not so good. But that changes when they start getting to know each other. I liked the setting of the book. The little town of Sandrift Cove seems lovely. I also really liked the recipes shared. Sarah's character loves to cook and so at the end of some of the chapters we find a recipe for the particular dish mentioned within that chapter. I really liked that and reading the recipes makes me want to try them all. Warning, you will feel hungry when you read this :) What didn't quite impress me...I didn't think that the characters were well developed. I just didn't feel the tension between the two and their vulnerabilities weren't strong enough for me to feel for them. I think that Daniel's character was not multifaceted enough. He was brooding and snobbish in the beginning and then such a gentleman and a hero at the end. I didn't the progression between the two personalities and therefore didn't quite understand who Daniel really was (the first one or the latter). The same way with Sarah. I also wasn't expecting the "mystery" twist that was presented close to the end of the book. I felt like I started this journey in a car going through a boring paved lane and then all of a sudden we were off roading on a bumpy road. Some might like the unexpected but I hoped that there were some hints of it in the beginning. Over all I thought it was ok and my biggest take away were the recipes.
The Neverland Inn is such a cute story. I love main character Sarah Michaels, the owner of the Neverland Inn. She is kind, caring, talented, and so very charming and normal. Her personality shines in this novel and jumps out of the pages, even though she at times shows some self-doubt. It differs greatly with her current guest, the staunch and uptight lawyer, Daniel Cavanaugh. Poor Daniel's life is being governed by his pompous father and his stuck-up, and gorgeous Fiance'. The only person sho had ever made him feel truly loved was his Grandmother who has just passed away in the story. That's how he finds Sarah's Inn when Daniel has been to his Grandmother's home to get ready for an estate sale.
Sarah's Inn is small, but she treats all of her guests so well, especially with her amazing cooking. One of my favorite things about this book are the recipes found at the end of each chapter. Here are some of the recipes you'll find in the book:
I also enjoyed Sarah's dog Muttley, whose personality was darling. Sarah brings life to a room and she brings life and love into other's lives. It's Daniel that has the life changing experience in the book. By the end I really liked him and how he realized what was most important in his life. This book is under 200 pages so it's a fast read and I did read it all in almost one sitting. This novel is not only a romance, but also there's a situation at the end with several angsty moments. The Neverland Inn ends up being a feel good story, with a cute romance, and yummy recipes. Check this one out!
Gah! Once more “women's fiction”, and as usual I have to have a quick moan – why do we do this – cut off potential readers? Who says men won't/don't read romance, they certainly write it, so why exclude them this way?
Anyway, on to the story. I really didn't like Daniel at first, he seemed so cold, so stuffy, so devoid of fun. In contrast Sarah is all about living each day to the fullest while having fun, enjoying life not just wading through it. She does her best to spread that air of happiness to her guests but she's an uphill task with Daniel. Gradually he does let down his guard, remembers that life wasn't always work first, second and last priority, and becomes more....well, human I guess. Starts looking at people and life with different eyes. And finds himself discontented with what he's become.
Its a slow paced story, very cute and genteel, with a close knit village who pull together when something serious happens, ( and like any mob, they show how easy it is for a mood to turn). The Wendy/Neverland theme was fun. I found it an easy read, a sweet story, but for me it was lacking in Feeling, in Drama, in Depth, and I need all those in a novel. That's just me though, what I personally love in a story, and it isn't what everyone wants. Though for me this was just an OK read it could be perfect for you. Horses for courses and all that....
Stars: Three, sweet easy read but a little too light for me.
I recieved a free copy of the book through NetGalley in Exchange for an honest review.
First of all, I really can’t believe it has taken me so long to finish this book. And it really doesn’t have anything to do with the book itself but with me being really bad at reading OB my phone. But I basically say down with this for one whole afternoon and read it all in one comfy mouthful.
The author of this book has previously been writing Christmas shortstories and it showed in this book. It has the same kind of magical, warm fuzzy feeling to it and I enjoyed the reading experience immensely.
I found the main characters to be a bit flat at the beginning, the happy-go-lucky overly optimistic woman and the jaded and positively stuck up man from the big city. But they eventually gained more substance and as the story progressed much differently than I expected, I found myself liking them and thet chemisty more and more.
In this book there is a lot of food, and it all sounds ridiculously delicious. But the constantly recipies after almost every chapter was very disrupting and I would greatly have preferred them to be collected at the end of the book.
K. C. Grant has written a wonderful story about following your dreams, friendship, second chances and love and though the Peter Pan/Neverland magic references can get a bit much at times, it is worth a read. In fact I would take a page out of the characters’ book and pick this up on a rainy day and be reminded that love and friendship are the best kinds of magic.
My idea of a great vacation is going somewhere beautiful and slow-paced to relax. Don't get me wrong, traveling and visiting many towns, museums and monuments is great too, but a true vacation to me isn't being on-the-go the whole time. K.C. Grant's invention of the Neverland Inn sounds like the perfect vacation spot for me.
I was very intrigued by the description of The Neverland Inn, and I loved the cover. Everything from the font to the picture conveyed the feel I think the author or publisher was hoping for.
The story is sweet, and I liked the message about taking time to slow down and evaluate our lives. I wish I'd been able to connect with the characters though. They had both dealt with tragedy in their lives, and Sarah had made the best of it, while Daniel was struggling. The way they met was quite funny, but something about the dialogue didn't always flow well for me. And their connection was quite fast. I did like how it started out rough and grew, but it felt like something that should have taken more than a few days.
I've read quite a few culinary novels and it's fun that recipes are included at the end of most chapters. There are several in The Neverland Inn that I'm tempted to try making. Once or twice the author included some cooking instructions as part of the novel, and that was somewhat distracting to me.
This is clean and worth the read if you have the time.
2.5 Stars
*I received a complimentary copy. All options expressed are my own.
Interesting premise. Sarah runs the Neverland Inn and feels a sense of purpose in making her guests have a good visit. Daniel is lost and facing a quarter-life crisis in the midst of his grandmother's death and his approaching wedding and family expectations. I enjoyed it for a simple read, but I felt like it lacked depth. The reader has to "fill in the blanks" and assume a lot aboit how the characters were dealing with death of loved ones, but it never really took that chance to dive in and flesh out the hard stuff. This was fluff. It was quick to read, and a sweet clean romance. But i just felt like something was missing in the characters to really make this story meaningful. On the other hand, i LOVED the recipes included at the end of each section! So while the story had me headed for a 2-star, the recipes definitely bumped this up to 3-star! I received an e-copy of this book for my honest review, though I'm seriously tempted to buy the book in hard copy simply to put with my recipe books! If you love good food, and sweet romance fluff, this is a winner!
First, thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read an e-galley of this book. I had never heard of author, K. C. Grant, but the title of this book drew me in. I have always loved stories around Peter Pan, so i thought I might enjoy this.
I was immediately drawn in to the story because it takes place in a California coastal community, near where I grew up. The story line immediately sucked me in, and I found I couldn't put the book down! I carried my kindle with me everywhere so I could continue to read the story.
I found myself laughing out loud, crying (out loud), and feeling at times stressed with the twists and turns of the story.
I also love the fact that there are recipes at the end of several chapters! They look and sound absolutely delicious and will give them a try!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone, and i will be going and downloading K.C. Grants other books as well! Well done!
Our local paper just recently reviewed three books by local authors. Immediately I reserved the books at the library. I think I've read three too similar books too quickly in order. I should have spaced them out a bit. That said, I probably saved the best of the three (this one) for last. Two stars is the best that I could do for any of the three books.
This one was a bit better written than the others. Still, it feels more like a beach read than anything substantive. I kept thinking that everything was happening so fast - all the falling-in-love taking just a week. Or maybe it's me. I'm not generally a romance genre reader.
I liked that the book was clean, I enjoyed a lot of the dialogue. I just can't seem to find enough laudable here to want to highly recommend it to anyone. Unless they're just pining for a sweet romance.
If I happen to run across any of the author's other books, I might give them a try.
If you like your romance with a side of cheese, then this is the story for you.
It's a sweet tale of a single B&B owner who falls in love with a rich, handsome guest. The overall storyline was cute but the characters lacked depth and everything was just too sunshine and rainbows for me, personally. The recipes included throughout the story was a unique idea, however the focus on cooking came at odd times within the story occasionally and seemed like a forced effort. Too bad this couldn't have been more central to the story without taking the focus away from forward movement.
This was a miss for me but I think some people will find it a pleasant read.
Thank you #NetGalley for offering this book in exchange for an honest review.

It's like a Hallmark movie, but even more bland and predictable.
I didn't feel chemistry between the main characters at all, and their romance just felt forced. Also, everything was TOLD to us, never shown. We were TOLD how uptight Daniel is, but the occasional "he loosened his tie," we never see him being that uptight. We are TOLD Mike's backstory, but we only ever see a stereotypical nervous stutter. Everything is just crammed down the reader's throat; there's no subtlety to the characters, and almost no dimension to them, either.
And the recipes should have been put at the end. Having them at the end of almost every chapter detracted from the pace of an already-short story. Do we really need to stop everything for a basic muffin recipe?
Sarah owns and runs a small bed and breakfast, The Neverland Inn. Daniel spends time at the inn and learns to embrace the love for life that he used to enjoy. With the death of his grandmother, Daniel is somewhat lost and not happy in his current high powered life full of unrealistic expectations. This book weaves in recipes that Sarah cooks for her guests. Unlike recipes in other books, these are not pretentious but sound delicious. Sarah and Daniel grow to like one another and develop and interest but Daniel has decisions to make. This was a very enjoyable and heartfelt book. I read this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this story about an Inn in California where the pace is slow and relaxed. Neverland Inn has one guest suite to rent and and owner Sarah treats her guests like family. (The food sounds delicious and you'll want to snack as you read). Daniel comes to town to settle his grandmother's estate and finds the small town and pace calling to him. How can he possibly give up his law practice with the family firm, and convince his high maintenance fiance to move to this little slice of heaven. I liked the characters and the setting sounds heavenly. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This was an easy read, it was fun and not too taxing. Daniel was a bit of a strange fish at first, he was difficult to warm to, even dislikable. But he mellowed in The Neverland Inn and although he and Sarah don't hit it off at first in Spindrift Cove, it doesn't take too long for the winds to change and something to blossom between them. I liked Sarah's character and I liked the close knit community of Spindrift Cove although I feel it might be a little claustrophobic as a home town, in the long term. This was a fun read, not complicated, didn't require too much concentration. It's a good poolside read.
Cute story! Really liked the main character Sarah and her love for cooking, taking care of people, and running her Bed and Breakfast. Unfortunately, I spent most of the book disliking the other main character-Daniel. She is way too good for him even though by the end of the story he was a little more "likeable". It was a good story line though that kept my interest and I was able to read the story in one sitting. Glad I read it but not something I would read again.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Ah, Sarah and Daniel’s story was a sweet one! There was no question as to where this was going to go but more as to how and when. The setting and characters were great. I would love it if this was the start of a series. And those recipes that punctuated many of the chapters sound divine!
There was a bit of drama and some side plots that enhanced the story. The romance unfolded in a natural way. The ending was a happy one. I would recommend this story.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Covenant Communications for a copy in exchange for a review.
I started out liking this book more than I did by the end. It had a sweet, Hallmark-esque feel to it. Busy, big-city, lawyer stops at quaint inn and meets adorably cute inn owner. All potential for a chocolate-induced coma level of sweetness, but when the trials enter to shake their potential relationship up, the storyline just lost all its flow, to the point where I ended up skimming the last 50 pages because I just couldn't bear to sludge through the rest of it. This story had immense potential, an adorable cover, but just fell a bit flat for me.
