Life wasn’t fair. Drake Simmons and his identical twin, Dixon, had had that lesson beaten into them early and well. Their past had so savaged their souls no amount of “confronting their demons” could heal them, but Drake’s twin refused to acknowledge that truth. For the first time in decades, Drake watched Dixon embark on a dangerous assignment without him. So, he did the only thing he could do; he prayed hard and pushed forward. While visiting with an old mentor, Drake's past reintroduced itself in the shapely form of one hell of a distraction. Her name was Dr. Jillian Law, and it appeared people were intent on killing her.

Of all the people in the world her father could have asked to protect her, why did it have to be him? She’d known Drake, and of course Dixon—you didn’t get one without the other—through her teens and early twenties. For years, she’d painfully adored Drake with the raw passion a young woman could only feel for her first love. He’d never viewed her as anything other than a friend, and she’d hidden her feelings behind her thick glasses and shy behavior. Since then, she’d earned her Ph.D. and had invented a solar power source that provided almost limitless, cheap, energy— a device for which someone was willing to kill her. If circumstances were determined to throw them together again, the least she could do was make Drake see her as Dr. Jillian Law. She wasn’t “Silly Jilly” anymore. The girl was gone, forever, but the woman who remained had never forgotten Drake.

Though torn and distracted by the absence of his twin, Drake grows to realize this benign shadow from his past might be the key to his future—if he can keep her alive.

Going solo

Another great Kings of Guardian Book. Draken and Dixon have been a staple in every book in the series so far and too my endless shame I have always seemed as one character to me. I am glad that they got their own books to tell the differences between the two of them, but also their amazing connection as twins.

Drake has always been the big brother but for the first time in a long time he and his brother are sent on separate missions to. Is breaking up the team supreme a bad idea? Not really especially as it gives them both a chance to grow as well confronting their tourcheted past.

Like the other books in the series the main characters of the previous books return to support their brothers in arms in this book. However the book as always the book can be enjoyed as a stand alone book. Though it is best it is best to read the other books to get the great back stories.

Unlike the other book this books this does feel a bit more of a two parter, not surprising with the twins involved. I really like that the book gave me more insight into Draken and him a chance to discover his own happiness and I hope his brother gets the same chance.

I’ve been waiting for The Twins books since I started this series. Loved Drake and Jillian’s book.🥰
It was sad seeing Drake and Dixon go their separate ways, but seeing Drake find love was so great.
Drake knows Jillian since they were teenagers and she was “Silly Jilly” an awkward teen, thin, with tick glasses and braces. Now she’s a beautiful woman a a genius and someone wants to harm her.
I missed the banter between the wonderful twins but got a beautiful story of special bonds between twins and a special woman who understood those bonds.
This is an AMAZING story and series and it’s getting very suspenseful. Kris Michaels is an amazing suspenseful author.
I can’t wait for Dixon’s book to see what happens next. I need it now!!

5 whatever it takes stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The twin bond is real

Drake is missing a part of himself with Dixon undercover and he struggles to not revert back to the scared and damaged child that he was last time they were parted. We are used to the crazy chattering and banter that usually surrounds Drake and Dixon, but we see a very different Drake in this book and if I didn't already love him seeing his fears and insecurities laid out would have done it. He is far more and any of us see and anyone gives them credit for.
Gillian is amazing, super smart, geeky, gorgeous and totally in love with Drake, she understands him in a way only Dixon ever has and she totally understands that Dixon is a part of his soul, they need each other just as much as Drake and Gillian need each other...and she fully accepts that...we love her!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

I have been waiting for the Wonder Twins to get their story since I purchased Jacob in February 2016. They have been my favorite characters through the whole Guardian Universe and I have eagerly awaited any little bit of page time that Kris Michaels has given them. All I can say is, "W.T.F. did I just read?" Gone is all the banter the Twins hide behind and what's left is just raw emotions. The Twins have been separated for the first time in the series and we get to see how Drake gets to deal with Dixon being put in harms way and Drake is unable to watch his six while dealing with a problem of his own. Jillian knew the Twins when she was younger and understands them to such a degree that she can always tell the difference between the two and fell for Drake. The heart-wrenching interactions between the Twins and the threat to Guardian and its assets kept my Kindle in my hands for a little over three hours. The romance part of this book kind of fell by the wayside, as the Twins relationship and history were more interesting for me, but I will admit I have been jonesing for Wonder Twin information for so long and that is all that really mattered to me. Even though Drake has found the woman that will help complete his life, once I finished the story, all I want to do is cry.

It's an amazing story and I love the fact that twins understand twins - Go Jade!

Ok

It was an ok read but, personally I found it boring. It seemed to fit a formula that is too familiar within some of the previous books. I don't think I'll bother reading the next book in the series. However, it was an easy read with not a lot going on for a long time.

OMG! there are so many global dangers here that it seems the world is teetering towards destruction. Drake is dealing with the emotions attached to sending his identical twin Dixon into danger alone. Dixon is going into an undercover mission meeting an old enemy of theirs - their father.

Drake is uneasy as an identical twin would be but goes on to Massachusetts to visit their college mentor who helped them become genius engineers. While there, he reacquaints himself with the professor's foster daughter, also a genius who has grown up to be a beautiful confident woman. That she has also created an energy technology that will be world changing is no coincidence. When he believes her to be in danger, he sweeps her up and takes her away. Finding that the story has rotated 180 degrees they must find their way to safety. This is a nerve-wracking part of the story and Michaels, as usual, does it very well. While Drake may have found his forever, their happiness is put on hold until Dixon is safely back with them again.

Drake is book eleven in Kris Michaels’s Kings of Guardian series. While it was an okay read, several elements fell short for me.

Drake Simmons and his twin brother, Dixon, are usually inseparable, but they’re split up when Dixon embarks on a mission to confront the demons of their shared past. Understandably, Drake is unhappy about the separation and its cause. After saying goodbye to Dixon, he decides to visit an old mentor, Cliff, who had recently asked the twins for help. Upon arriving, Drake is reunited with Cliff’s daughter, Jillian Law—a woman he hasn’t seen in over a decade. Back then, Jillian was an awkward teenager with braces, thick glasses, and acne. Now, she’s grown into a woman who takes Drake’s breath away. But Jillian’s life is in danger due to an invention that could revolutionize how electricity is harnessed, and Cliff asks Drake to protect her. Jillian, who had always harbored a crush on Drake, joins him on a journey to uncover who’s targeting her and why.

I struggled to connect with Drake’s character. He and Dixon have appeared as side characters throughout the series, yet by the end of what’s supposed to be Drake’s book, I still felt I didn’t truly know him. He was fine but lacked depth. A few aspects of his character didn’t sit well with me—namely, the implication that he and Dixon shared women, and his insistence on calling Jill “Silly Jilly,” a nickname from her childhood bully that she loathed. Although he went through the motions of protecting Jill and eventually professed his love, it didn’t resonate.

Jill started off promising but quickly devolved into a stereotypical romance FMC whose every thought and action revolved around Drake. Many reviews praised her as a “strong” female lead, but I didn’t see it. Yes, she was intelligent, but for most of the story, it was all about Drake—her lingering crush, her disappointment when he didn’t show interest, her tendency to prioritize him (and even his brother) above herself. Jill came across as a doormat, propping Drake up by becoming a sycophantic woman who lived only for her man—while he clearly didn’t live for her in my view. After discovering someone wanted her dead, she resolved to confess her feelings to Drake because “life is short.” But why? They’d only reconnected a few days prior, and Drake had shown no interest. Why would he care about how she felt as a teenager? I hate when authors reduce intelligent women to caricatures. Here we had a brilliant female engineer, and all she could think about was getting into Drake’s pants.

The romance felt flat. Drake was instantly attracted to Jill, but then Cliff told him she’d had a crush on either him or Dixon—he wasn’t sure which. (Side note: Cliff had no business sharing Jill’s private feelings.) Drake then decided that if her crush was on Dixon, he’d keep her safe so he could “reintroduce” her to his brother, because she was “just the type of woman Dixon needed.” No regrets. No anguish over seeing her as his brother’s partner. But it gets worse. Drake’s colleague, Mark—a known womanizer—asked if he could take a shot at Jill, and Drake said, “Go for it.” What man who’s genuinely interested in a woman would mentally “give her away” to his brother and then encourage a colleague to pursue her? Later, Drake muses that Jill would have to accept Dixon in his life or they wouldn’t have a future. I’m sorry, but none of this convinced me that this was a true love match. This is a romance novel, and the soul-deep connection—the sense of two people choosing each other above all else—was missing.

The suspense was passable but sparse. There was action at the beginning, followed by a long stretch of Drake and Jill spending time together to see if “things would work”—which only made me question their relationship further. Drake’s initial stance was that if it didn’t work, they’d part ways to avoid wasting time. Again, no regrets or anguish at the thought. That didn’t convey chemistry; it sounded like a business transaction. The action picked up again at the end, and it was nice to reconnect with past characters.

The storytelling was present, but marred by long, dense paragraphs and several proofreading issues. I also felt the author exaggerated the Guardians’ brilliance, danger, and skill to the point of sounding egotistical. One scene in particular felt contrived: Jill, who openly stated she preferred margaritas to whiskey, gets drunk on whiskey—clearly a setup for her to throw herself at Drake. And of course, that’s exactly what happens. Then, in her drunken haze, she thinks, “…for some reason her thought process was hazy.” Seriously? This woman is supposed to be a genius. Suffice to say, I missed the romance, the buildup, and a smart, self-respecting FMC.

Overall, the book was okay. If it had been earlier in the series, I might’ve quit right there. But since it’s the second-to-last installment, and the author has piqued my curiosity about Dixon’s mission, I’ll stick around to see how it unfolds. Hopefully, Dixon will have more depth—and the FMC in his story will have more backbone. And smarts. I rate this one 2.5 rounded off to 3.

Drake & Dixon Simmons can and do work separately! Dixon’s solo on a mission picking at their scabby past(s); Drake answers a summons from an early mentor. He’s worried about his shy, bespectacled daughter, who’s blossomed into Dr. Jillian Law’s safety. She’s invented a breakthrough ecological device that good and bad actors want to control for different reasons. As Drake prepares to take Jillian to the ranch, he learns she had a crush on him, he was totally unaware of.

With this new knowledge, Drake loosens a bit to feelings he hadn’t dared give into, unsure if it was him drawing the attention or Dixon, and for Drake, Dixon always came first. When an unrelated incident makes Drake come up with alternate plans, he makes a fun, getting to know each other vacation for them. Drake and Jillian fell deep.

Closing in on the ranch, they learn Guardian’s two worst enemies, Stratus and the Bratva were sharing info, targeting specific operatives. Sheltering at a safe house, Jillian leaves her comfort zone pitching in though Drake gets to show his hero mettle.

D (or & D) missage and questions about the twin’s formative years left a small hole in this reader’s enjoyment. That said, Jillian and Drake made a great couple on a couple of levels and I liked him being so much more than a pretty face set atop muscles. The battle was a good set piece but the pacing slowed a bit in the middle and sped to a great ending.

this is yet another awesome book it's following on with all the Black Ops and familiar characters especially Fury. I just love Josephs story and Matt does a brilliant job with his voice. the first half of the book was the Romance side but the second half was wow. I just love hearing about the rest of the team and now the women and children that have joined the ranks. the heroine was woven into the story nicely as she had past history with Drake and Dixon so as the romance moved pretty quickly it was expected. I'm getting really sad here because I'm going through the series and as much as I want to slow down it's too good to do that. Kris Michaels is an awesome author and she has woven this amazing espionage plot brilliantly throughout 12 books and she's still going. I'm on to Dixons book now and I don't think I'm going to be too happy with this one it sounds like Dixon is going through a lot of psychological trauma and my heart's already pounding and breaking thinking what he has to endure especially without Drake .
fabulous books, fabulous series, fabulous narrator, fabulous author everything is just fabulous I am now a 100% certified Kris Michaels fan. So thank you kris for writing these books and don't stop with the shadow series,,pleeaazzzee!!!

Due to the introduction of Drake’s love interest, Dr Jillian Law, we (the readers) receive insight into the dynamics of Drake and Dixon relationship. Dixon is Drake’s twin brother. Jillian have known the twins since they were young, they all grew up together. Jillian describes herself as a “wallflower” during their younger years and she constantly watched Drake and Dixon as they grew up. Jillian always had a “major crush” on Drake but due to insecurities she hid her feelings from Drake.

Drake and Jillian meet again due to incidents that are deemed as “threatening” occurring in Jillian’s life. However, there is a twist regarding the occurrence of these “threatening events.” During their time together they both acknowledge their feelings for each other, and their romance begins.

But you cannot go through a Guardians story without the usual adventure and suspense. (And I luv it !) Also, Guardian have a new enemy that is determined to “take them down.” This enemy is after Gabriel, the Kings family, the Kings extended family, and other members of Guardian. But all this action continues in Book 12 with Dixon’s story. I am excited to start Dixon’s story to see how all this action and drama end with their new enemy.

Drake Simmons is sick with worry for his twin brother Dixon, who is on an undercover mission. To take his mind off of things he answers a call from an old mentor asking for a favor. Drake, only too happy for the distraction, gets drawn into a situation that isn't exactly what they think and before you know it...Guardian is on the job! The upside, Jillian, his mentor's daughter, the smart, feisty pipsqueak he remembers has grown up...yes indeed, all. grown. up.

This series and this author are nothing short of amazing. With so many moving parts and so many beloved characters and family members, every time I close the cover on a new release, I'm in awe of the way the author chooses just the right recurring character to make an appearance in exactly the right spot in this ongoing saga.

There aren't enough good things to say about this series, it's the perfect blend of action and intrigue, marvelous characters and hot sizzlin' romance...I strongly recommend you don't pass this one up.

I enjoyed Drake and Jillian’s book. The scene with Drake getting in and out of Jillian’s little smart car was pretty cute and I laughed out loud several times.

We’ve witnessed first hand since earlier in the series that Drake and Dixon have a very strong bond as twins. It’s been hinted on more than one occasion that they suffered a traumatic youth. Unfortunately, the problem is we are never told what happened to them. There is no detail whatsoever that is given to explain any of what they suffered. It’s hard to fully grasp and understand how bad something was when we’re not provided a lot of information. It was still sad though that they are currently separated since both of them have been on assignment doing different jobs, and are each worried about the safety of the other.

Jillian was a great leading lady for Drake. The two of them were super sweet together and I liked how similar they were in things they liked and did.

Dixon’s story is the next in the series, where I hoping we will learn more about the twins past.

I Love Drake and Jillian! Firat I want to point out that this is a series. I can definately see how reading this book without the others might be confusing.... HOWEVER since I have read EVER BOOK and re read because YES they are THAT GOOD I can tell you without a doubt Drake is wonderful! Once again Kris Michaels has done a great job! From the beginning of EVERY book she grabs your attention with adventure, excitement and oh so hot men to then turning on the most delicious make me drool sexy scenes! EVERY BOOK! This is a series you must read if alpha hot military men are your thing! This family is incredible! Once again Kris Michaels made these characters come to life and you stay on your seat until the end.... I can not wait until the next book when the story of Dixon and Drake are once again together. I have a feeling come January we will see that basically they are a part 1 and part 2. Great job and defiantly a must read!

More Guardian goodness!

I like that this heroine was competent and smart and intelligent, but knew absolutely nothing about the urban warfare and guns etc. Jillian is a competent heroine of the klutzy but hyper intelligent variety. Drake is emotionally damaged hero goodness. I wish it had been a little less vague what Drake’s damage was but I’m thinking we might find out a bit more of that in the next book featuring Dixon, his twin, who we find out in this book has returned to the scene of their childhood. As I always say, don’t start here. Start at the beginning of this series. Are the books extra predictable? Yes mostly, especially if you binge read them like I’ve been doing. But they are never boring. At least not to me. Every couple pairing feels unique and the balance of romance, vulnerability and action is always beyond perfect! I have on book left to go in this series but I’m super excited that there are spinoff series to check out afterwards

Drake is the eleventh instalment in the Kings of Guardian series by Kris Michaels. It is a perfect mix of action, romance, and family drama that was so easy to get hooked on. Each book spotlights a different member of the King ‘family’ - the elite operatives working for Guardian Security - so you get a fresh story every time, but with plenty of familiar faces popping in along the way.
The plots are fast-moving, with everything from high-risk rescues to international missions, but what really makes the series stand out is the loyalty, teasing banter, and the intense, heartfelt romances which gives all the action so much more depth.
If you like romantic suspense, military romance, or strong law enforcement vibes, intriguing characters, and a sense of found family, then this series is definitely worth diving into. It’s exciting, emotional, and just the right amount of addictive.
Happy Reading…

Do yourself a favor........

Drake and Dixon are twins who share an unbreakable bond. They've been through so much pain and heartache that Dixon feels the need to go off on a mission solo, while Drake meets up with their mentor. Drake meets Jillian the foster daughter of his mentor who is in need of help. While Drake helps protect Jilly, Guardian uncovers a more sinister plot. Kris Michaels takes you on a journey of love, heartache, worry and suspense. This book is a must read and after Jacob being my first love, Drake has knocked him into second place. I'm highly anticipating the next book in this series. I'm not very good at waiting around but you can be assured that as soon as the next book is able to be preordered it will be. Do yourself a favor and read Drake and all other books by Kris Michaels.

Wow an amazing read

Boy oh boy. Book 11 of the kings of guardian series and the first of the wonder twins. Drake is upset as his brother goes off to go undercover with their abusive father and Drake is called in by his mentor to help. Jillian is a genius and has been getting some emails and threats but isn't so bothered about them until she sees Drake again and then thinks it's more. As an attempt on her life is made its up to Drake to protect her. I can't say more because that will give it all away. But there is a twist in the story as you progress. My heart bled when Drake was talking to Dixon as though he would never see him again. The car had me rolling about laughing. A smart car and a very tall Drake ha ha ha ha. A book not to be missed and I can't wait to read Dixon's book when its release.

Drake was a book I had been waiting for, one half of the twin duo that we have grown to love over the length of this series. Drake does not disappoint, this book brings the inner turmoil and selflessness of this man to the forefront. This is a story of unbreakable bonds, of putting people you love first but also about knowing at times you need to be selfish. This addition to the Kings Of Guardian series is full of revelations that will lead to finally taking away the loneliness. Jillian and Drake’s story is one that will touch your heart and soul, it is action packed, witty, flirty and oh so sexy. Like each and every book in this series, it leaves you more and more addicted to the characters and their stories.

Loved Drake and Jilly❣️ Drake and Dixon go their separate ways, on seperate missions for the first time. Neither is happy about it, but it needs to be done. Drake continues on to meet with his mentor Cliff and is brought up to date on a situation involving his foster daughter, Jillian. Drake can’t believe how beautiful she is after all these years, since he last saw her. She ticks off a lot of his boxes of what he looks for in a woman.

Drake’s book is exactly what I would expect from a Kris Michaels story - action, suspense, explosive on the edge of your seat danger and romance❣️ Looking forward to see what kind of situation Dixon is in next and anything else this world of Guardians will throw my way 😍

Missed Dixon

The way Dixon and Drake have been together and inseparable throughout this series had me hoping they would get a combined story where they fell in love at the same time. I almost suspected they would end up living the same woman. I really hated that they were completely seperated in this book. I like the partner the author wrote for Drake, but I wished for more of the action/danger that is typical of this series rather than the chronicling of their travels on their way to the ranch. The action toward the end was good, and they had nice chemistry. I also enjoyed the cameo of Joseph. I definitely need Dixon's story, and thankfully the end of this book implies the twins will be reunited.

Drake helps lead the training complex at the ranch. Dixon has just left on a mission without him. He needs a distraction. He heads out to visit his mentor.
Jillian is a doctor. She has been working on a prototype to use with solar energy. She has received some threats. Her adopted father and has asked for help from a Security company. She is fighting it because she has been in love with this specific person since she was 16.
Drake can't believe how much Jillian has changed. Now he will be protecting her.
They are traveling around on their was to the ranch when they find out Drake is being targeted. Now to stay alive.
Will they make it to the ranch? Will they find out who is behind the threat?

Wow, I was so excited for Drake to be released, and it was so worth the wait! He & Jillian are great together, and seeing her be an anchor for him while Dixon is on a separate mission is awesome. As always, in the Guardian series, I love seeing all the Kings & Guardian team working together. And now, with a new threat that seems to be going after Guardian, Dixon separated from the team, Drake wanting/needing to go help yet be with Jillian, and the tension mounting. Kris Michaels had me stuck between being happy at the end because Drake & Jillian were together and dying of anticipation for the next book!

Totally Love This Series!💜🧡

Loved Drake's book from start to end, read it in one sitting and finished it at 3am this morning, that's how good his book was! I really thought the twin's book would be a menage book since they share everything including women, but they each get their own book and I'm glad for that. This book was amazing! With lots of action and romance and new bad guys Stratus and the 3 gates, who have decided to go after everyone who works for guardian! Can't wait for Dixon's book next where I hope to find more about this mysterious woman who has his interest. Until next time!💙💚

Drake

OMG! This story has so many twists, heartaches, funny parts and romance. Twins being separated is always hard, especially when they went through help in their youth. Jillian finally got her deepest wish and dream by being with Drake. Drake is torn by his twin taking on a very dangerous assignment. I loved the part of Drake fitting into a Smart car, definitely had years in my eyes from laughing so hard. That was hilarious! The final chapter definitely wants you to get into the next book right away. I am happy that Drake is able to find happiness with Jillian even though he doesn't feel while without Dixon there. FANTASTIC job Kris! I would recommend this book!
