Wow, they just keep getting better. I read this one out of order but it was somewhat confusing the way it was marketed. I read the first the in the dark series and loved them.
This story has great characters, we get a pretty good back story to Rynn, we don't get much from Brock/Brent. That is unless there is more in the book I've yet to read.
The racism addressed in this story was very poignant and needs to be addressed. However this I say to all authors that address these "Real Issues" please stop pointing the blame to one particular political group. ALL peoples' must be held accountable for the hate crimes occurring in OUR world! We all must take a stand and say "NO MORE! "

Brett's novella

Its a short read about Brett and how he's adjusting to the breakup with Ashley especially since they almost completed their coupling....each soon realized it was going to be a monumental mistake....so...what does Brett do.....well what any red blooded alpha does...he goes undercover...and becomes a member of a hate group in Bumf#(k Georgia....and run smack into the lovely Rynn....totally out of her element....moved from NYC to way down there....where you have Stuckies instead of Starbucks...whatever could go wrong..

The best one yet

Bret is a very interesting, justifying and dedicated agent. Rynn was a strong woman that wouldn't let anyone hold her back. Good story but I thought Ashley quit the FBI?

Love it!!

Another awesome book by Cate!!
Wow, I felt so bad for Rynn, the stuff that girl had to go through, it's like ,when she is going to have break!?
Can't wait for the next book to see what happened to the bigots,..
Nice to see kickass Ash and her hubby Kyle.
What happened to the other 2 boys, who tried to rape Rynn?
Great read!

Left hanging

This would have been a great series if not for the third book being unable to purchase . So as a partial fan I am left hanging as well as a lot of other readers. Not even an explanation as why. However the first two books were great.

Good

I must say I wanted to scream because of all the crap Rynn had to take from those racist hillbillies and surprised no one in the restaurant said anything to them. I was glad Bret got his girl. Was happy to see the Assistant Director and his wife, Ashley.

" NO SPOILERS" “Dangerous Deceptions” -> Dark Triology spin off Book 2… Bret Lincon and Rynn Rolland's story. This was an interesting story but seemed a little rushed. It didn’t grab me like the other books did…I didn’t feel the connection with the characters. I wasn't thrilled with this one but it's not going to deter me. But Book 3 -> “Hidden Fire’s” is coming in 2019, so I’m remaining very optimistic and looking forward to this one!

Ugh

This book was good. But Mackenzie story was better. Bret sounded way more delicious in book 2. I felt no connection with Bret and Rynn. He had more with Ashley. Author tried to make it seem he wasn't infatuated with Ashley when he was. I don't like the ending in this book. Where's the epilogue? Did Bret and Rynn end up getting together?

Omg!!!

Can we have a part two for Bret and Rynn. Their story felt so rushed and since it was under duress I don't think they got the time to know each other.
Please give them a book two so we can see more sparks

All Night Bender

In two days have read The Dark Series Trilogy, Mackenzie'a Song and 1 and 2 of the spin-off. I love all the characters, the flow of the suspense and plots. When Bret was introduced in Mackenzie 's Song....I was hoping he got the girl and heart broken when he didn't. I am glad the author gave him his story and love interest. I love the author style of suspense and never a dull moment.... My number one author for the month. Cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Great Series

I loved both of your series, I couldn't put them down. After Jack and Caitlyn that was a very good read, but, Kyle and Ashley you blue my mind with the two of them. That was a great story it was strong, it was happy and it was action pack and it was so sad, and then you threw in a twist that brought it all back together. I loved it. I could have read their story forever. Kyle was interesting and you brought him back slowly, just enough at a time. Great job. The spinoff of Rynn, hot want more of their story was to short.

Great Read

This particular book allowed us to see more of Bret. I did like all the intrigue and suspense. It was hard to read about the murders and mistreatment by the racist.
I am interested to see if more is going to happen between Bret and Rynn.
The Author does such an excellent job of drawing the reader into the story and gets you vested into the characters. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next installment.

I love it that Brett got to meet someone...

Rynn is just what Bret needed, she's fiercely independent, loyal with a quick mouth and I loved her. The story was flowing and gripped me from start to finish. I want to see Brett happy and settled down this book is half way there so I'm pleased with that. Looking forward for the next instalment of this brilliant series!

Okay.

This author really needs to work on her HEA'. Very abrupt end and the h character was so unbelievable. Stretches the imagination that a woman who has had 1 sexual experience in college would somehow behave like this character without showing the sexual growth of the character. Needs work.

Good but with triggers.

If you have a problem with racially motivated hate speech (and you should), this may not be your read. If you have problems with racially motivated hate crimes (again, you should) this isn't your read. If you like fast paced action and hot sex scenes, dig in.

Bret got a woman to call his own.

Glad he was there at the right time, ALL THE TIMES he was needed. And I think she will be very good for him too. Enjoyed all of the books in the series and both spin-offs too. Looking forward to reading more of this authors work.

Another Winner

I love Bret!

But anyways, I wondered if Rynn would fit into this world of bad A females. She fit. I loved that while she may not be a trained agent, she's a trained trash talker. I love this series.
