I had my heart in my throat on more than one occasion and was left reaching for tissues time and time again, my heart literally broke on more than one occasion. I’ve been a champion of this series and this author since day one... I have lived, breathed and loved these stories and their characters from the moment I read the first in series. I am so sad this series has ended... but WHAT an ending!! I am excited to see what the future holds for this author and look forward to more wonderful works by her 🖤🖤🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ok folks, this is not a standalone novel. You have to read the others before this one or you will be very lost.
This is the final story in the Guardians series S. Lawrence has been working on. She has a great voice for story telling and this book really brings home the worlds she's been building throughout the series. Several stories, of Norse, Greek, and Celtic mythology all wrapped up into one. Because the time frames in history are all so close together, her story of Gods coming here from another world and claiming parts of our world as their own, really does resonate.
In this book we get the final God's story--Loki. Cora is the girl he's been destined for his whole life, but he really tries to stay away until the end because he's afraid of the monster inside himself. Cora is the seer that is destined to bring the world back to right and help keep Loki from destroying several worlds. She isn't reluctant in her role, she just doesn't know how she's supposed to help. The good part is all the folks in the previous stories are there to help her understand. Many of which speak to the Gods and are very intuitive. We see their love for one another as a whole, there isn't a growing into love in this one. They both know they are destined for each other just as they know magic is real. The tender way they treat one another and try to make the most of what time they may have left is very romantic.
My only misgivings about this book is the number of perspectives she lets tell the story. There are at least ten characters all trying to tell the story and it makes it very confusing. I think it would have been a little bit more enjoyable from fewer perspectives and allowed the reader the opportunity to make some of the story up on their own. But a fine finish to the series.
I loved this series. This is the first I've heard of this author but the premise for the book was interesting, so i have it a chance. I addicted too the characters. There was so much depth, backstory, and emotion put into each character throughout the series.
The story was magical with just enough relatability to make you feel like you're experiencing the journey with them. Some of the struggles were almost too real and hard to read because of my own experiences. However, the triumph over those struggles helped new get new perspective on my own past. So, it was all worth it in the end.
I have never felt more compelled to leave a review on a book before. I promise, if you're into fantasy and mythology with a little romance thrown into the action, this series is for you. The story arch, the characters, the emotion, all pure perfection. Well done, S Lawrence!
I fell in love with Aislin and Kai in Celtic Fire, Emma and Jason in Greek Fire, Sean, Michael and Raven in Norse Fire, Ylva and Asger in First Fire and now Cora and Loki in Eternal Fire. Most of the characters are present in all the books in this series and it just makes it easier to love them all. The mix of traditional mythology and modern stories and twists make this series suspenseful and enjoyable to read. I absolutely loved this series and the fire in this book threatens to swallow not only the characters, but the earth whole, reeled me in and didn’t let go until the end. I loved the combination of the new and old, the mortal and immortal, love and destruction. The story was exceptionally well written and delivered an ending, that I never saw coming! I would recommend reading the entire series, it is a worthwhile read, especially for those who love fantasy and mythology.
This book was a rollercoaster ride, with so many twists and turns some awesome and some heart wrenching. S. Lawrence weaves a tale of love and destruction in this installment of her series.
You really need to read the first 4 books to really appreciate the story telling in Eternal Fire. Loki has to give in to his own destruction in order to save his love, Cora, but also man kind. With the help of their chosen family Loki and Cora set out to rewrite the wrongs and make a new start.
I loved how S. Lawrence married mythology and sci-fi romance seamlessly into a cohesive series. If you love these genres and a good hot love story then this series is for you. You won’t be disappointed.
I was sent this ARC by the author in exchange for a spoiler free honest review
In Eternal Fire, S Lawrence has created, actually birthed, a series of fantabulous stories using components of a variety of myths. She takes great pains in detailing the emotions behind her Gods, Goddesses, supernatural creatures, and her humans, as they interact. The joys, pains, love, agony, lust, friendships, and especially loyalty, are all laid out for the enjoyment of her readers.
My heart is still pounding from the whirlwind of activity that takes place in each book of this series, but especially, Eternal Fire.
Reading this book brought me back to the feeling I had when I first learned to love reading, so I deeply thank S Lawrence for that precious gift and look forward to her continued writings...because there are more coming, right? Pleeeeease?! <3
So I just finished this series and waited til the end to write a review. I don’t often write them but this one needs it. Susan has a way of writing that truly draws you in from the first sentence. I’ve always believed that a truly good book will make you feel like you are there and this series does that and more! I was in Scotland and New Orleans and Valhalla. I was in worlds that, to my knowledge, don’t even exist. I was Aislan and Emma and Raven and Cora. I was every character and felt every emotion. Even now, I finished the last book and I still feel the first one in my soul. Take a chance. Start with the first book and you, too, will be hooked!
This is the final installment in the series by S. Lawrence. I have enjoyed every book in this series and have completely lost myself in these pages. I feel as though I know all of these characters intimately. I've read this entire series in the past 8 days and I am so grateful to Kindle Unlimited for making it possible. This is the book of the battle for Earth. You should read it. While it can standalone, I highly recommend reading the earlier books first. Dive in and enjoy the walk through ancient mythologies brought to life. I highly recommend this book..
Eternal Fire is a great ending to a darned good story. Odin and Loki in a different light and all of the players that made this series what it is is remarkable. Cora and her sisters, their extended family and mates....turn this fantasy into a story that gets you pondering the what ifs. Ainsley, Emma, The "boys", the dragons and all of the warriors who fought for humanity is priceless.
I really enjoyed this series and frankly didn't want it to end. Loki just became my new favorite hero.
I felt like this story didn't touch the first 2 and the was a dud. I don't think I'm being hyper critical about the lack of strength this book had to pull me in. This book didn't draw emotions out of me. I don't understand why you'd kill the characters you did. You killed insignificant personalities that didn't further the story. You remade the gypsies and left them alone in a world forever changed. I'm upset that certain characters never got to fulfill the destinies that they were meant for.
This has been the most exciting yet emotional book I have read in a long time and I am so sad it is over. This series grab me without merci and didn't let me go until the very last word... Hell, maybe it will never let me go, for it is Ana amazing take on stories I have love for my entire life. Loki and Cora were the perfect end for this amazing series and their story has wound itself in my heart just like Yggdrasil's roots wound themselves with Gaia. I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who dears to believe there is more than meets the eye.
Really enjoyed this final book in an amazing series! This story takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions with the perfect cross between mythology and science fiction! I do recommend reading the previous three books to get the full story and understanding off this amazing series! This final book is the perfect ending to a perfect story, but I am a little sad that it's over and can't wait too read more from this talented author!!
If your about to read this book then you are already invested into the characters of this series. I'll tell you I was deeply surprised how much this series hit all the feels. And although I am mad that the characters didn't think of one possibility that does happen, it also makes sense for it's need. Cora and Loki's story is a perfect ending to this series. I look forward to reading more by the S. Lawrence!
I easily would give 5 stories as this series is phenomenal. However, the numerous typos and errors were distracting and I often had to re-read sentences just to make sense of what it was supposed to say. Regardless, I recommend the series, one of my favorites!
Odin, Loki's brother is going to war against him. Kinda like bad against good. A lot of people will die. The only way for Loki to win is to let out the monster inside. But then the monster will take over and Loki will be no more. And what will happen to his love - Cora.
I took a chance with S Lawrence and I am so glad I have. This is not my typical genre, but I can't help to be so entranced that I can't flip pages fast enough. The world and characters she has created draw you in and their stories keep you interested. I enjoyed Loki and Cora's story.
Facinating, lovely book, but I was hampered by not reading the other books in series, this tale is Epic! Well written, developed characters, all telling the story, I lost my way, and reread. I need to read this entire series, it is worth it. Mythology, gods, sweet heat of romance. Recommended.
I’m sad I’m done with the books, but it seems that the author was a bit like Loki and up to mischief because it ended with a mystery. I’m assuming there are more books or another series. The books are great.
What a ride. I’m sad to see the series end. I so love Loki and Cora. Loki is just yummy and I am fangirling hard for Cora. If you haven’t read this series, you must.
