I really thought I would enjoy this story more but unfortunately I didn't. I found the story to flow at a very slow pace and although there were funny parts here and there in the story it just wasn't enough. The storyline was okay but I really didn't care for the Fiona who is one of the main characters. Cade, Esme and Grammie Rose were okay characters but there wasn't anything about them that made them interesting or stand out in the story. This is a story that when you actually get the full backstory of what happened between the main characters and you ask yourself is that's it. I expected more and I didn't get it which was disappointing. I will just have to chalk it up to this story not being the one for me.

When Fiona comes back home to take care of her injured grandma, she's surprised to find Cade there. He broke her heart years ago when he walked away from their relationship without a word, but she knows he's important to her Grammie so she'll just have to deal. If only her old feelings toward Cade weren't still there.

As the two spend more time around each other, Cade is dying to explain to Fiona what happened back then, but Fiona is so angry and has so many walls up that he's not sure she'll ever let him back again. So it's good that Grammie has a plan to get her two favorite people back together, right?

I had quite a few problems with Not Over You. The first being that Cade and Fiona's previous relationship was never clearly detailed so I had a hard problem with their supposed connection in the present. And then there's the connection - I didn't feel it to be that strong. For most of the story, they were at odds and nothing much happened except Fiona walked around being all angry and obnoxious most of the time. Then when they finally got their stupid selves together and talked things out, it was near the end, so the conclusion was a bit rushed. And my final problem was with Fiona. Like I said, she was angry and obnoxious, but she was more than that, she was also boring and one-note. This story was unfortunately a big letdown. It wasn't entertaining or interesting, the characters were flat and boring, and there was little relationship and character development.

3,5/5

Fiona works as a secretary at an insurance firm but has to go back home to take care of her Grammie when she injured herself in the old house where Fiona expended summers as a younger. That house collects many of her best memories, but also was the place where Cade, her youth's love, broke her heart ten years ago. What is her surprise when discovers that Grammie has hired him to repair the house. Will Fiona get the answers she always wanted from Cade? Will their relationship be over definitively? Or will the flame ignite once again?

I enjoyed reading about this couple, reconnecting and trying not kill each other for Grammie's sake. But sometimes Fiona was so childish and overreacted that it got me really nervous. I mean, I understand she has been hurt and she is trying to protect herself, but in a few occasions I only wanted to slap her in the face for her to stop freaking out and listen to the people who loved her without quickly jump into conclusions. Don't get me wrong... I would have slapped Cade too. He should have become clear with her earlier and not made her mind up for her.

About Grammie, I love her. She has become my favorite character of the book. Her stories and adventures are amazing and she really knows how to get what she wants haha.

An outstanding read second chance romance that is well written. The storyline is very interesting, funny, witty, action-packed, and absolutely amazing. The characters are well-developed, the chemistry between them is potent and intense; the sex scenes are descriptive, hot, and off the charts. A really enjoyable read. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

So boring...

I found myself skipping over stuff... it was just too mundane. No real plot. Two-dimensional characters. I felt no connections to any of it. Just... a terrible book. Sorry if you're a fan of the author, but this was not good writing.

This wasn't a bad book. I would have liked it better if Fiona wasn't a pain in the butt. She was so whiny the whole time. Cade screwed up in the past but you didn't have to act like that. Thankfully she got it together in the end. I was happy that they got their HEA.

ARC review for HIDDEN GEMS
If nothing else, you will fall in love with the characters. Grammie is a fun loving, scheming, smart as whip grandma that anyone would love to go on a Mexican vacation with :). The minute you meet Cade you pretty much fall in love. He has a big heart and drops everything for Grammie. They are not blood related but he treats her as if she is. Fiona is also someone that you will like. The story is filled with funny scenes and fun dialogue along with sexy times between Fiona and Cade. Good story with characters you can believe in. Great characters and a great story

I absolutely adored reading this heart wrenching story of young love gone wrong. This is an emotional read. There is urgency because the mischievous, eccentric Grammie hurt herself and needs Fiona to come home after ten years of living two hours away. There is trepidation on Fiona's behalf. She has been away from her childhood home running away from the painful memories of Cade. Her childhood best friend who became her everything and then disappeared. He was her first love, her other half, her greatest regret. At the same time Grammie has called Cade to tell him she hurt her ankle and she needs repairs done on the house. She trusts no one but him to be in or around her house. Cade has a secret that Grammie does not know and he will do anything to keep it that way. About once a month over the years Cade has lunch with Grammie. They have kept in touch. When Cade was just a young teen, around thirteen, he needed a stable and loving place to be where he would be accepted as he is. Gramps and Grammie were there for him. Gramps taught him woodworking, carpentry skills, home repairs and odds and ends so that one day he would be able to make it on his own. Every summer Cade lived with Gramps and Grammie because his home life was terrible. Fiona had lost her parents very young and was being raised by her father's parents. She was eleven years old when she met Cade. They became fast friends, inseparable. Fiona looked forward to spending her summers at the country house. As Fiona and Cade grew up, they fell in love. Cade was twenty and Fiona was eighteen, Cade promised to marry Fiona. She waited for him on that fateful day. He never came. Heartbroken Fiona left. She went to college and found a job in the city that she does not love. But it paid the rent and she was good at it. Now ten years later, Fiona confides in Grammie that she feels empty and lost. She cannot find that spark that makes life fulfilling. Grammie concocts a plan to help Fiona find herself. Fiona takes three weeks’ vacation to go and stay with Grammie. She intends to be there for her in any way she can. She arrives at the country house and sees that Grammie is not herself and indeed has a cast from foot to knee on her leg. Fiona is spending time with Grammie when someone knocks at the door. As soon as Fiona realizes who it is, she wants to slam the door in his face. It is Cade and Fiona makes it perfectly clear he is not wanted there. They start arguing and bickering with each other about Cade staying in his old room. Fiona wants him to find a hotel and drive back and forth to the house. With all their racket, Grammie implores them to get along. They are adults now. Cade offers a tentative truce to Fiona, but she is not having it. They continue to bicker back and forth. The best Fiona can do is allow him to stay at the house. But she is very hostile towards him. Grammie has Fiona running ragged with chores. Cade evaluates the house for repairs. Cade has started his own home improvement business and is doing well. He realizes that he needs help so he hires a local guy, Jace. From the beginning, Jace and Fiona harmlessly flirt in front of Cade. Cade does not like it one bit. Then Jace starts to get a little creepy around Fiona and makes lewd suggestions to her. She tells him to back off. When Cade interrupts them, he sees Jace holding onto Fiona's wrist. Cade has had enough of Jace and throws him out. Unfortunately, Jace is not done with Fiona and he becomes creepier. When Cade becomes aware of Grammie's secret, she makes him promise not to tell Fiona. It is hysterical what goes on between the three of them. I had to laugh. I smiled while reading the book. Every page offered some insight as to what was going on with Grammie, Cade and Fiona. This is such an exciting read. I loved the sarcastic and sassy banter Fiona threw out to Cade. The attraction and chemistry between Fiona and Cade is something neither of them ever experienced with each other before. Some old feeling get fondly remembered and others are painfully dragged out into the open. This is a must read. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not Over You is a second chance at love romance. Cade and Fiona met in early teenhood. Every summer at Fiona's grandparents' house, Cade and Fiona became each other's best friend. Eventually, they fell in love, but life separated them. Ten years later, Fiona and Cade are summoned to her grandparents' country house again because Fiona's grandmother has fallen and needs care. Much as changed in their lives, and Fiona's heart has never healed from Cade's heart-break. Can they remember who they were to each other in past? Will they ever move past it?

R.S. Lively's story focuses mostly on the development of Cade and Fiona's stories, in the present and the past. The book is written from the two viewpoints, and every few chapters, we learn more about the circumstances of the past. As a reader, you root for these two. Fiona's grandmother plays the comic entertainment in the story alleviating the seriousness of the characters' stories.

I will admit that I struggled with Cade and Fiona in the beginning. They seemed incredibly immature. It is understandable that Fiona would continue to hold a grudge against Cade, but their behaviors, especially Cade's actions in the shower, did not represent mature adults. Additionally, while I appreciated the story, I found myself wondering the focus of this story. Was it Cade and Fiona's relationship, Fiona's grandmother's story, Cade's billionaire status, or the attempted assault of Fiona and Cade's subsequent saving of her? There seemed to be a lot of variables at play in this story that sometimes muddled the overall romance.

That being said, I enjoyed the story and the characters and would recommend it.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This story was great!! I have to say it was not looking good from the beginning but it picked up as it went on. If it wasn’t for Fiona’s Grammie I would have thought it was a little boring. But Grammie Rose made the book a lot more interesting. Not only did she fake her injuries but she was a very sassy grandmother. She made me want to be her. The way she talked to Cade Sawyer and Fiona Helms her only granddaughter was hilarious 🤣 I laughed my ass off. Fiona was the very predictable young lady, smart, opinionated, and sometimes dumb to a fault. But I have to say she was her own person even though she was an over thinker. It never fails they always think the wrong thing and never ask what the other person was really thinking.

Then you have the rich and dumb and I know what you’re thinking man. Cade Sawyer was sweet, handsome and giving. If only he was a real mans for me. Lol 😂. But anyway he had a hard life from the beginning and he want in with the help of Fiona’s grand parents and made a nice business for himself. I have to say things that his parents put him though I’m just happy he did go on and made Grammie and gramps proud. You ha e to read the story to see what all happened but!! I will leave you with this. Jace the helper that Cade hired will blow you away. See what happened when he was fired by Cade and then returned after Fiona came back to Grammie Rose’s country house the Cade and Fiona was working to fix up. I tell you this story will not disappoint you in the end.

I enjoyed this book, but thought it got drug out a little. Fiona has come back to the small town where her heart was broken years ago to care for her grandmother. She is not sure why her grandmother has come back to the country house where they had mostly spent summers when she was young, or exactly how her Grammie hurt herself, she just knows she really doesn't want to be here again. When she arrives and sees the condition of the house she is even more convinced she doesn't want to stay here. When a knock comes at the door and her long, lost, love is on the other side, she is sure she is in hell.

Cade has come to help out Fiona's Grammie by working on her country home. The last person he expects to see is Fiona, the love of his life. He quickly realizes he is the last person she wants to see, but he isn't going anywhere. He is no longer the skinny, lost boy he had been. He had made something of himself and he had done it all for this girl, er, woman. Although he had convinced himself to leave her be and let her live her life, there was no way he was walking away from a second chance with her. He is going to keep a few things a secret though, at least for awhile.

I loved Grammie, she was a hot mess. I liked the way Cade called Fiona on her attitude and made her face her demons. Maybe we will get a story with Esme, Fiona's friend, who is a great character.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

I am a fairly new reader to R.S. Lively and all I can do, as an avid fan of romance, is assure you that R.S. has packed an incredible amount of creativity between the pages of Not Over You. You'll have yourself as engrossed as I found myself with the second chance Cade gets with his everything, his heart and soul... his Fiona.

After a decade apart and wondering what went wrong, as well as what exactly happened; Fiona is about to discover all that she never knew. Secrets hurt, however, the old adage of "be careful what you wish for"... Oh, Yes! Not Over You is a must read masterpiece and I strongly encourage all romance junkies, like myself, to devour this release, as I have. There is a reason Cade left her alone and now he's back in her life in the knick of time. Can Cade salvage what once was and make it even better/stroner? Will Fiona forgive him and give Cade a chance at redemption and still get their must deserved happily ever after? Follow their incredible journey as Cade and Fiona rediscover themselves (both individually and as a couple) all over again. Very realistic emotions, steamy, dramatic and intriguing; Not Over You is quite honestly just a great read throughout.

I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of Not Over You in exchange for my honest opinion and I consumed in in one sitting. Incredible Book. I can not wait to see what R.S. will gift us with next.

This is a standalone second chance romance.

Cade and Fiona were childhood friends in their teens and spent summers together at her grandparent’s country house. However the connection they had never materialised into love. They suddenly parted ways after things were said and misunderstandings put in place. Fast forward a decade and they both find themselves back at the same house where they shared their past.

This was a book of two halves and I struggled with the first half. It was trying too hard to be some kind of a romantic comedy which the most part I found irritating and not funny.

However the turning point came when Cade and Fiona were left alone in the house and kind of forced to face up to where they had gone wrong. Secrets were revealed and a new way forward was found. Like all good romances though there was another misunderstanding thrown into the mix to add further drama to the journey to the HEA.

As I have said some parts of this book did not work for me such as Grammie and her strange escapades and then the weird turnabout of Jace.

Overall though the second half was a winner and taking all into consideration I would say this is a 3.5 star read for me.

Will riding to Grammie's aid leave Cade and Fiona too close for comfort?😨💕🏡
September 17, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
3.5 stars💕🔥
Positives: I liked the humor, the sense of unease and danger introduced by the villain, and the youthful backstories of hero builder Cade and heroine Fiona. The author also maintained some dramatic tension by feeding details of their past in pieces as the story progressed and ended with no cliffhangers. For those looking for longing glimpses of ripped abs (and more😜), and 🔥hot intimate interludes, this romance does deliver.

But the story had an unevenness to it and occasionally bogged down in unnecessary and prosaic details that detracted from the romance. I never really connected with either Cade or Fiona. She seemed a bit petty and judgmental, and, ambivalent: does she want him to sweep her off her feet and carry her off to a happy ending or not? And, as for Cade, I could not understand his rationale for the major decisions he makes, both past and present, that affect their relationship. Yes, he explains, but I just found his explanations lacking.

Fiona's pal Esme and Grammie, the adventurous grandmother who raised her, provided some welcome comic relief. I hope Esme gets her own story at some point in the future.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This is the 2nd book I've read from R.S. Lively,,,,, I'm really enjoying the storues,,,,,

This is about a secretary who is with an insurance firm,,,, Fiona was bored with her life and had become since she moved away from her Grammie and now, apparently, her Grammie had started falling and Fiona couldn't live with herself if something happened to the woman that raised her after her parents died in a car accident when she was young, her grandparents took her in, raised her best they could til it was now just Fiona and Rose Helms or Grammie as she's known as,,,

Fiona comes back and instantaneously in walks Cade Sawyer, a local businessman and a man helping Grammie with some repairs and such,,,, and coincidentally, Fiona's ex from before she left town after he walked out on her,,,, they went together in school,,, and then they drifted apart,,,, but now they are back, in the same town,,,,, and Grammie can't be any happier,,, but, are Fiona or Cade any happier about it,,,, ???

I really enjoyed reading this book,,,, it had all different emotions going on in it,,,,, it wasnt a boring read,,,, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone,,,, !!!

Decent

It was a decent read. Just not great. He left her to give her better opportunity. She felt jilted because he left her standing alone when he was supposed to meet and run off with her. They don't speak for 10+ years to figure out what the hell happened. Forced together by her grandma under false pretenses they rediscover their love. Anger and issues arise throughout.
I wasn't really too impressed with either character. Supposedly he left her jilted and yet he acts snippy with her? Shouldn't he have been groveling for her to listen to him after he bailed. Then she hears her grandma and him say they are destined and she freaks because they are forcing her? Um if she chose to be there how is that them forcing her to be there and DECIDING her future. If she didn't love him or want to be with him how could that even work.
I didn't connect well with these characters. She was wishy-washy at best and seemed extremely high maintenance. He seemed bitter toward her for no reason based on the fact that he walked away from her and acts like he is above her throughout the first 3/4 of the story. I just didn't really care if they ended up together. I just felt ambivalent after all that nonsense.

WOW!!! I absolutely loved this book. I would definitely give it 5+ stars if I could. I’ve become a fast fan of R.S. Lively. This story is very well written, the story line makes sense and the characters are fan-blooming-tasting. Did I mention that I absolutely loved this story. The book is about Fiona and Cade. They have a very long history. They met as children and became closer as each year passed. When Fiona turned eighteen she thought they were finally going to take the step towards a life together, but Cade walks away and breaks her heart. Many years later Grammie, Fiona’s grandmother injures her ankle and Fiona needs to return to the home where her heart was broken. There are twists and turns and ups and downs that need to be overcome. Will Fiona and Cade be able to overcome their pain and find their happy ever after? Will Grammie recover from her broken ankle? I’m not going to spoil this story for, but really, do yourself a favour and read this book. I’ve read it twice now, and I think it may be one of those that I read again and again.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

What happens?
Fiona is pining for her lost almost love Cade. Cade left her after breaking her heart ten years ago. They are bought back together by her scheming grandmother who wants them to finally admit their feelings and be happy.
Final thoughts
This is a sweet romance, its pretty light and not too heavy but its not fantastic. The storyline is a bit thin in terms of they go to look after Grammie who isn't really heart. She gets whisked away mid way through the book by a fake ambulance and its just a bit weird. Although I kind of see there was no other way to get her out of the picture without being weird I didn't feel like this fit either.
I still enjoyed the romance and the chemistry between them was built up very well, so when they finally had sex and admitted their feelings it was believable that these two characters could be together.

How old are these characters supposed to be?

Normally I would hang in there longer but I'm only at 19% and I give up. I don't like the H or h AT ALL. They speak to one another like my 7-year old speaks. I can't remember how old they are supposed to be, but the H is a "billionaire" (of course) so they should be speaking/thinking like adults, right?

But this is literally dialogue I just read:
h- "I won't kill him if he doesn't kill me first."
H- "How exactly do you suggest you kill me if I get you first?"
It's so juvenile that I don't even understand what it means.

I'm also not a fan of the writing style. I shouldn't be skimming paragraphs in chapter 1. Too much inner monologue and expository information. It's written like a diary of every second of someone's day and their every thought more than a story. Almost like the song "I Feel Lucky" by Mary Chapin (showing my age with that reference but if you know it, you get it).

In a serious book slump :-( Was hoping this would bring me out, but, alas, I shall keep looking.

I enjoyed this second chance, secret billionaire love story. Fiona hasn't visited her Grammie in a while; there's too many painful memories for her. But when Grammie is injured, Fiona does her best to push past her anger to help her surrogate parent. Cade has changed since Fiona has last seen him. There's so much she doesn't know, and didn’t understand. Fiona is tired of people leading her to do “what's best” and she lets them all know it. Grammie is a great secondary character. You never know what she's going to do next. Fiona's best friend Esme will do anything for her. There's even a bit of suspense and action, which just added another layer to this delightful story. I love the way Cade makes peace with himself, and finally trusts all of himself with Fiona.

I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.

Fiona and cade have a history from when they were growing up together. But life and other things got them side tracked. Now years later Grammie calls for them both to come home to the country home because she has fallen down gotten hurt. Cade comes to do some repairs but doesn't know that Fiona will be there. Fiona has some vacation time saved up from where she didn't get married so she took it to go be with her Grammie. Will they be able to work through their differences to see that they are better together than apart? Will Grammie come clean about her injury?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Cade and Fiona is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between Fiona and Cade. Fiona and Cade met when Fiona went to her grandparents country home for the summers and Cade was learning woodworking from her grandfather. Fiona and Cade were best friends and then Cade left when Fiona was 18 and he never came back for her. Fiona is now living in the city and when her grandmother calls to say she is hurt and needs her help, Fiona goes home right away, only her grandmother also called Cade. When they both go to the country house, they fight and neither will leave. I really loved this book, i laughed and parts i wanted to cry. I loved her grandmother and thought she was too funny. Cade and Fiona still loved each other and still wanted to be together, even if they didn't know it. Great one.

Fiona grew up with her grandparents her grandmother was always the type of woman to take things head on now she’s had an accident and Fiona has to go back home to look after her. Cade had horrible parents so he practically grew up with Fiona’s grandparents, her grandfather taught him woodworking and electrical work and from that he’s a billionaire. He and Fiona had a teenage romance and one day he just left so now Fiona is not at all happy with Cade turning up on her grandparents farm. And that my friends is all I’m going to give you but there is so much more to this story it was a wonderful story and I loved it. A fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Awesome contemporary second chance romance. Fiona rushed home to care for her grandmother after she fell. She hasn't returned home in a decade because the memories there hurt but she's willing to do what she has to. Cade gets a call from Grammie telling him that she got hurt and needs him to make repairs. Neither Cade or Fiona were expecting to ever see one another again. Cade left her years ago without any explanation and that has festered. At first they clash but the longer they are exposed to each other things change. The author did a wonderful job developing the characters and storyline to make a realistic book that's enjoyable. I received a complementary copy via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

Situations sometimes really aren’t what they’re described as being.
Although not the main character, Esme is hysterical and adds a lot of “zest” to the beginning of the story. Grammie herself isn’t too bad either in the humor and tricks department, as she is absolutely unpredictable. It appears that Grammie has been seriously injured and requires Fiona's assistance for an unknown period of time. When Fiona flies to her side, she is greeted by Cade who lived with her grandparents because of his horrible parents. He too has been summoned. Cleverly written romance/comedy with a touch of nostalgia, this book makes a wonderful read.

ONE FANTASTIC ADVENTURE!!!
Wow! I really enjoyed this page turning jewel. It's one action packed, hard hitting, chemistry laden, witty, nailbiting tales with all the drama and suspense that kick it up a couple levels. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few bumps in the road make for a strong storyline that grabs your attention from the start. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out as they play off one another perfectly. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. Lively did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Lively, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

Author, R.S. Lively has written a sublime storyline with wonderful characters. The two main characters, Fiona and Cade were childhood friends/sweethearts who haven't seen each other in ten years. They have reunited at Grammie's house due to her injuring her ankle. Fiona came to care for Grammie and Cade came to work on fixing up the house that is in disrepair. Grammie is a hoot and marches to beat of her own drum. She is hell bent on getting those two back together. Will they? They are not the same people, especially Cade, who is now a billionaire.
I'm recommending this book for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. It was fun following this pair as they worked through their issues often with humor.
