I'm a smart-ass with a foul mouth and I don't take any sh--stuff from anyone. I've been through some things that not even my BFF knows about. So, I have only one thing I want from a man, and it isn't his bank account. Hell, it's not even his personality. Appendages are all I need. That's why I hate Micah. He had to go being all NICE. But our time is short. Once we leave Key West, everything stops. It's for the best. It's what we both want. Or is it?
I've got no time for women. They require too much attention and if I'm going to build one of the premier bike shops in Manhattan, I can't afford to waste time with dating. I have goals. That's why I hate Ang. She's infuriating, sexy, and complicated. All the things I cannot deal with right now. While we're in Key West, I'll indulge. Once we leave Key West, everything stops. That's what I want. Right?
I published my debut contemporary romance in May of 2018. I'm an avid reader, music lover of all genres, and movie aficionado. I am fluent in two languages: English and Sarcasm. I am a constant source of humorous innuendo.
This is one heck of a story!! The author has such a way with words that will have you laughing one minute and gasping in another. Ang is such a spitfire that I immediately fell in love with her and Micah is one of the hottest characters I’ve come across. These two are perfect and have the ability to calm and heal each other when they need it the most. She has now become a one click author for me and I am anxiously awaiting her next story!! A must read that you will not be able to put down.
This is one SPICY story!! Micah and Ang are just combustible together! I won't even say fire and water because they are both in it for a good time; neither of them is looking for a relationship.
I haven't read a story in this series, so even though this is book 2, you can read this book without reading book 1. You meet some of the characters in book 1, but you aren't missing out on Micah and Ang's story at all by not reading book 1.
Ang is hysterical! The things she says, how she says things, how she thinks, just crack me up. So in between sooooo hot scenes between Micah and Ang, you're laughing at what comes out of Ang's mouth. And she's gotten some friends to say the things so it's just even more funny.
Just ok I couldn't get with the lingo on this one. I didn't like the way Ang talked it was way too OTT. It was like the author tried too hard to make her funny. I did like Micah and the story. I just had a hard time relating with the heroine and I think it was mainly the way she talked. Will try more by the author though.
Y'all I cannot put to words how much I hated waited for the second book by Ellie Rice. For those of you who haven't heard of her, let me paint you a little picture regarding her books. They are smoking hot (obviously...just look at that cover), they are complex, beautifully written and so much more than a pretty love story. Book 1, Key To Her Heart released last year and I was immediately infatuated with this author. It was her debut novel so I had high hopes, but wasn't expecting fireworks. But what I got was one of the best dang reads of 2018.
Fastforward to December 2019 and here we are. Finally. Book 2 was on my kindle and I was so freaking pumped. Then of course, life happened. The holidays happened. And too many weeks later, I FINALLY sat down to read this masterpiece. And oh mama, it was so worth the wait. Ang and Micah are the perfect blend of humor, sass and so much heat it could set the frozen tundra on fire.
Story Line: We met the hilarious Ang in book 1. You don't necessarily have to read Key to her Heart in order to follow Keyed Up, however I recommend reading book 1 because a) it's amazing and b) it helps with some of the little details in this book. Anyways, Ang and Micah have one of the funniest first meetings I've ever read. Their connection is undeniable from the moment they share the same space. And let me just say, Micah is a big bad biker boy and I didn't realize how much I was missing that kind of hero in my life. Seriously, he's so hot. If he wasn't utterly perfect for Ang, I would be putting my boxing gloves on to fight her for him. Okay, you get it. This guy is total book boyfriend material. But more than that, his character blended with Ang's is what made this book so dang good. They connect at a wedding. They heat up only to have a bucket of ice water thrown on them when the getaway comes to an end. But the best part about ER books is that just when you think HEA is coming, she throws a wrench at you and you realize you still have 40% of the book remaining. HECK TO THE YES. And boy does she deliver. Ang's story will wreck you. Micah's demeanor and class will tingle your toes. And their love story will rock your world.
Interaction: I've touched on this a little already, but it's important y'all realize that these two characters are beautifully written with incredible detail and imagery. You will literally hear Ang's crazy terminology in your ear throughout the entire read. You will hear Micah's deep timber in his voice and feel that gorgeous mane of his in your finger tips. They are ying and yang, yet they work better than I could ever imagine. I'm not going to lie to you, Ang's character is strong, to say the least. Her random made up phrases are funny and nearly over the top. But they work for her. And you would imagine someone with an equally bold personality to be her soulmate right? Micah is not who I was envisioning for the spitfire, but holy crap, now that I've read their story? I can't imagine anyone more perfectly suited for Ang.
Laundry: Is it hot in here? Why does it feel like my face is on fire? Oh that's right, I'm just replaying some of the hottest laundry scenes of all time in my head. Or spank bank. Or whatever you want to call it. But hot dam, Ang and Micah are off the charts. And just when you think, there's no way they can top that - they do. Ten fold. So get yourself some wine or a mixed drink. Because it's about to get hot in here.
Depth: Seriously, though. Ellie Rice knows how to write some of the most well rounded stories on the planet. She brings the heat, the character development and the best story lines. Ang's past was so unexpected. When I said there was a wrench thrown at me, I wasn't talking a plastic playskool one. I'm saying it was like a 50 pound big Bertha wrench. I was not expecting to shed tears over this woman. But it was totally unavoidable. Her past life - her present life - all of it. It was so painfully detailed that it was impossible to fast forward through the hard parts. No, I had to live through it right alongside this gorgeous redhead. Keyed Up reminded me that even though people put up a good front, that doesn't mean their lives are perfect. It doesn't mean they actually have everything together and their lives lack skeletons. Or zombies. Or whatever metaphor you want to use. No one is perfect, but two imperfect people can make and pretty freaking good life together. And that's exactly what Keyed Up is about. You will laugh and you will cry. But most of all, you will fall in love with Ang and Micah - hard.
Since I read Key To Her Heart, I've been dying to get Ang's story. Ellie Rice definitely did not disappoint with this story.
Ang is fiery and foul mouthed (she says the craziest stuff.) Micah is a biker and sexy af. A week in Key West for their mutual friends wedding is a perfect opportunity for them both to let go and enjoy themselves. And that is exactly what they did. But once they get back home to normal, they realize how difficult it is to let go and move on.
The balance between hilarious and serious was perfect. The spark from Ang and Micah radiated off the pages and the sex was steamy. I loved that both characters were successful with goals. The character development was fabulous.
I most definitely reccomend this book to anyone who loves reading romance.
Love means never having to say you're frustrated. Keyed Up has bit of a bite to it. Rice grabs you at hello with her sassy heroine and her candy hearted hero. Figuring out who holds the keys to what stands to be an epic fall is anybody's guess. Ang and Micah are not what they seem to be, yet far more than any heart can take. By the end of the journey both the author and her fiercely, feisty characters will have you by the heart.
This follow up to Key to Her Heart picks up with Val’s best friend, Ang and Stone’s friend Micah who are in Key West for Val and Stone’s wedding! I loved Ang in Key to Her Heart, but that didn’t even scratch the surface as far the depth of her character in this one.
Ang is absolutely hilarious and inappropriate making her someone I would love to be friends with. What no one knows is, there is a reason she goes from guy to guy and won’t settle down with anyone. Micah isn’t fundamentally against settling down with one woman, but he’s insanely busy opening a second custom bike shop and has an extremely crazy and successful career. The problem is, the more these two spend time together while in Key West, the more they find themselves attracted to one another – and not just in the bedroom. They each try to muffle their feelings and play it cool with the other, but how long can that last?
Similar to her previous book with Val and Stone, Ellie Rice has created two characters who are perfect for one another, yet too stubborn to do anything about it. This was frustrating to read, but all of the angst made it worth it in the end. She beautifully crafted these two characters in a way that will make the reader believe without a doubt that they are soul mates and meant to be together. But of course, there is emotional baggage, self-doubt, denial, and so on.
The best part of this book, however, is Ang’s sense of humor. Her words, sayings, expressions, etc. had me laughing out loud with tears streaming down my face! And the way she could make big, bad, sexy Micah crack up in an instant was perfection. As I stated earlier, Ang is very inappropriate so if you are easily offended by terms or expressions related to body parts, sexual acts, bodily functions, etc. – you may not love this one as much as I did. But it was insanely funny while also serving the purpose of showing who Ang really was.
The most difficult part of the novel was both Ang and Micah’s pasts. Both of them had been through hell, but to see the people they had become despite their past secrets, made them all the more lovable. Even better was the way they eventually faced up to everything and worked on things together.
I cannot put into words what a page-turner this book was for me. It’s romantic, seriously sexy, crazy funny, and just left me feeling all happy inside when I had finished reading. Be warned, however, you will completely fall in love with Micah and will find yourself daydreaming about him while sitting in traffic for days to come! I highly recommend this one to anyone who wants a sweet and sexy romance mixed with real-life sorrows, but a ton of laughs!
*Thanks to Forever Write PR for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
Ang and Micah such opposites but not really. I really loved their story. Ang had me laughing with her vocabulary. One never knew what was going to be coming out of her mouth. Micah seemed to be her match. He took it and rolled with it. They met in Key West at their Best Friend's wedding. They had a week of explosive chemistry and off the charts bedroom tangos. They both were not looking for anything permanent just a good time. Months went by and Ang was hired by Stone to come up with the logo's for Micah's new shop. From then on, it is on like donkey kong. However, Ang's past keeps her heart guarded. Her past comes to NYC and wrecks havoc on her life. Both Micah and Ang are stubborn. She has to learn to give a little and he has to learn all fights dont end in death. There was some great movie quotes and references in this book. I think I learned some new words. I read this book in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. Great Characters, chemistry and laughter
I admit, at first I didn’t really like this book. The Ang and Micah we meet in the first couple chapters aren’t that great and I couldn’t really connect with either one. But I kept on, and I’m glad I did.
Ang is a smart-mouthed, sarcastic graphic designer. She is in Key West for her best friend’s wedding. Micah is a builder of custom motorcycles, busy opening a second location. He is a friend of the groom and also in the wedding. The two meet a day before everyone else arrives and sparks fly between them. Neither wants a relationship, however. Ang has serious baggage, and neither of them trust love.
As I already said, the first few chapters were hard to get into. Ang seemed so over the top. Micah was almost a caricature of a biker character. But as the book progressed, their characters did as well. They really grew on me.
This book isn’t a favorite, but it’s not bad either. It’s an easy read, good for a relaxing weekend. It does have a lot of humor.

So, be prepared to laugh your butt off at what Ang and Micah say throughout Keyed! I have no idea where Ellie Rice came up with some of the things the 2 of them say, but they were perfect for them.
Ang and Micah are both damaged in different ways, and neither one is looking for a relationship in any way shape, or form, but don’t characters like this lead to some of the best stories.
Fighting their feelings for each other kicking and screaming, Ang and Micah are constantly brought back together, and the banter and the sparks light up the page.
My only thing, I’m never looking at Hidden Valley Ranch in the same way again.
Micah and Ang bring all the feels. When they meet neither are looking for a relationship due to their pasts. As they talk and get to know each other they realize how much they truly have in common, however fear keeps them from admitting they want more. Then things from the past come back to haunt them both and while Micah is kept in the dark about a lot of things, when the past has been dealt with they must both learn how to move on together or they must separate and go their own ways. Throw in an unexpected surprise, a lot of made up words and some quirky friends and family.....this is a story you'll want to read!
I won this as a prize, and was pleasantly surprised by the story. Loved the pair of them who had loads of chemistry. And he was tall with a Harley, what's not to love.
Keyed Up is just as amazing as Keys to Her Heart! I loved Ang's story! It was everything I wanted it to be!! Ellie Rice is only two books into her author career, but she is already a go-to for me!! FIVE STARS!!
Ang and Micah’s story didn’t just live up to my expectations, it exceeded them! Micah is beyond sexy, and Ang has some of the best curses, insults, and zingers I’ve ever heard. I giggled every time she opened her mouth.
The ending was super sweet and satisfying, and we even got to catch up with Val and Stone (Key to Her Heart.)
When I read Key to her Heart, I farking loved Ang, so I was beyond thrilled that she got a book. It did not disappoint! The banter and way with words had me laughing hysterically, the sexy times were steamy, and the added depth to Ang and Micah and all they have been through kept me hooked and rooting for them till the very end. This makes two 5 star reads by Ellie Rice. I can't wait for her next book!
What a spectacular book. Ellie has out done herself with this one. I havent laughed so hard while reading a book in a long time. Angela is one of a kind amd Micah is sexy amd sweet everything a book bf should be. I highly recommend this book. It will be one i read over and over
OMG!! This was worth every moment I waited for it! Ellie Rice can weave a masterful tale! She has created truly wonderful characters while making me laugh harder than I thought I could. She brings the heart, laughter and more to this book which will stay in your memory long after you have read it! Micah is a great member of my harem!
I farking love Ang and her sassy, don’t give a shit, random saying self! I don’t know if I could be friends with her but Val is perfect for her. Micah is such a dreamy biker, tattoo, no nonsense sweet guy. They both have a great heart with a hard shell. This book gave me all the emotions, as much as I liked the first one I loved this one. Way to go Ellie, great job on this book. I’m looking forward to more of your work!!
